• VMWare server host agent service won't start

  I'm using VMWare Server 2.0 on Windows Server 2003 R2. Sometimes after restarting the host machine, the VMWare host agent service won't start due to an error. This is the error messages from Event Viewer: [Service control manager] Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the VMware Host Agent service to connect. [Service control manager] The VMware Host Agent service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. I've set the service to automatically restart after subsequent failure using services.msc (using a 10 min. delay), but it still won't start. Only starting the service manually seems to work. Has anyone experienced this before? What workarounds or fixes are there?

  On my windows 2003 I have to run sfc /scannow as admin. I have tried to run it as local administrator and domain administrator, but it says I need of administrator privilege ???? I have tried runas /user:administrator cmd and then on a new shell sfc /scannow. But it does not work too. The error message is: You must be an administrator running a console session in order to use the Windows File Checker utility. the error message is in italian and should be translated in english as above. The following is the cmd's screenshot of the error. I am connected as domain administrator but I run it a runas to be local admin.

• rsync from OS X to Ubuntu failing for large (>15GB) files

  I'm trying to rsync a 15 GB file from my OSX box to a box running Ubuntu 10.04 server. rsync is transferring ~300-700Mb and then closing the connection with the following error: Read from remote host my.host.name: Connection reset by peer rsync: writefd_unbuffered failed to write 4 bytes [sender]: Broken pipe (32) rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (397214 bytes received so far) [sender] rsync error: unexplained error (code 255) at /SourceCache/rsync/rsync-40/rsync/io.c(452) [sender=2.6.9] The exact command I am executing is: rsync --progress --archive --inplace my.15GB.file.tgz my.host.name:~/ I am sure that there is enough free space on the Ubuntu box. Any ideas what could be causing the connection to drop?

  When i place ojdbc5.jar in the c8\webapps\p2pd\WEB-INF\lib directory... i receive the error below. And yes the content store is on an oracle 11g RAC database. I am running Oracle11g Client. Cognos version is 8.3 SP4. [Content Manager database connection] 1. [ ERROR ] The database connection failed. 2. [ ERROR ] Content Manager failed to start because it could not load driver "oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver". Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I'm setting up a new web server that hosts a dozen virtual hosts on Ubuntu 12.4 using Apache 2.2.22 with one config file per site. I created all the configuration files all at once and ran a2ensite * to enable them all at once. When I reloaded the configuration it failed and after restarting apache I found the following error message in my error.log: Oops, no RSA or DSA server certificate found for 'server.host.name:0'?!   Although i know there are large no. of post already floating over same issue , but am having no luck so far. I am getting below error message when trying to connect desktop by vmware view client 4: "the desktop currently has no desktop sources............. " My configuration is listed below: using view manager server over VM box. successully deployed 10 desktop VM over View manager and they are persistent mode. previoulsy few users were able to coonect to these desktops successfully under desktop sources i am getting "Domain name\user ID" and under status its showing "Ready" So when any other user who is authenticated trying to access desktop getting above mentioned error message. The other users are unique one who previously never logged in. Also i tried to rebooth the VM desktops assuming they might be locked by another user , but still am getting the same error message. Please help.

• Bugzilla with SSL

  I have an install of Bugzilla I'm trying to implement SSL on. When I go into the parameters screen and edit SSLBASE adding in the full url: https://foo.com/bugzilla/ the editparams.cgi times out on loading and I have the following error in the apache log [Tue Mar 30 19:29:39 2010] [error] [client xxx.xx.xx.xx ] (70007)The timeout specified has expired: ap_content_length_filter: apr_bucket_read() failed, referer: http://foo.com/bugzilla/editparams.cgi On install I also received this error: WARNING: You need to set the max_allowed_packet parameter in your MySQL configuration to at least 3276750. Currently it is set to 3275776. You can set this parameter in the [mysqld] section of your MySQL configuration file. How can I force this to work? Editing other parameters (eg urlbase) work fine. The SSL site is setup and direct requests to it eg https://foo.com/bugzilla work correctly. Any ideas? Ty

• Windows 7 crashes with STOP 0x101 ("A clock interrupt was not received..") every time the laptop tri

  I have an HP Compaq nc8430 with a new install of Windows 7 (32 bit). Every time I sleep the laptop, it crashes. It also crashes sometimes just during normal use. It does hibernate properly. The only reliable trigger I've found to crash it is sleep mode. It's not overclocked, and only standard drivers are installed. It seems to always be the following error: A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the time interval. And the following STOP code: STOP: 0x00000101 (0x00000061, 0x00000000, 0x80DBF120, 0X00000001) I'm not sure it's always the same parameters exactly, but always seems to be error 101. Given the text of the error message, I've disabled the Dual Core option in BIOS, and this appears to have fixed it - no crashes so far, and it sleeps ok now. However, I'd love a solution that doesn't involve cutting processor performance in half. Any suggestions?

  I want to connect using FTP to my webpage hosted on ipages.com , but I always get this error on filezilla.: Status: Server does not support non-ASCII characters. Status: Connected Status: Retrieving directory listing... Command: PWD Response: 550 PWD: Permission denied Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing Error: Disconnected from server: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted It looks like the connection is established but then disconnects. Is it an issue with the host? I use the default port 21. The user-pass is working. And the ftp adress is ftp.mysite.com I tested the port 21 using netstat and I get 220 Ipage FTP Server Ready

Problem: When a query throws an exception on the remote server (Oracle DB) the SQL Server instance crashes. The logs say that the crash was due to some problem with the RPC call. Is there a way in which I can prevent the entire server to collapse but also use RPC over my linked server. EDIT: Event Log SQL Server is terminating because of fatal exception c0000005. This error may be caused by an unhandled Win32 or C++ exception, or by an access violation encountered during exception handling. Check the SQL error log for any related stack dumps or messages. This exception forces SQL Server to shutdown. To recover from this error, restart the server (unless SQLAgent is configured to auto restart).   So I'm trying to just hash some passwords in postgresql, and the only hashing solution that I've found for postgresql is part of the pgcrytpo package ( http://www.postgresql.org/docs/8.3/static/pgcrypto.html ) that is supposed to be in postgresql-contrib ( http://www.postgresql.org/docs/8.3/static/contrib.html ). So I installed postgresql-contrib, (sudo apt-get install postgresql-contrib), restarted my server (as a simple way to restart postgresql). However, I still don't have access to any of the functions for hashing that are supposed to be in postgresql-contrib, e.g.: ninjawars=# select crypt('global salt' || 'new password' || 'user created date', gen_salt('sha256')); ERROR: function gen_salt(unknown) does not exist ninjawars=# select digest('test', 'sha256') from players limit 1; ERROR: function digest(unknown, unknown) does not exist ninjawars=# select hmac('test', 'sha256') from players limit 1; ERROR: function hmac(unknown, unknown) does not exist So how can I hash passwords in postgresql, on ubuntu?

• IIS 7.0 Web Deploy authentication fails after changing Windows password... help?

  I have a very basic Windows 2008 R2 Web Server running IIS 7.0. This is just a test/practice server, so I enabled Web Deployment using Windows Authentication. All was well and I was able to deploy easily from VS 2010 using the Administrator account credentials. After changing the Administrator account password, I get the following error when trying to deploy from Visual Studio (using the new password, of course): Error 1 Web deployment task failed... ...An unsupported response was received. The response header 'MSDeploy.Response' was '' but 'v1' was expected. The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized. If I change the Administrator password back to the original one and try to publish using it everything works fine again. So what am I missing? Am I supposed to do something in IIS after changing the password? Thanks!

  The error is that when a batch (about 15) of similar 1 page documents are sent to the printer from the server some of them (last time it was 5) fail with the message ‘Invalid printer specified’ and the others work fine. The same document sent 1 second later will work fine. We are using. • How do I generate a core dump from apache

  I have a script which intermittently returns a white screen of death in firefox and Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): Unknown error. chrome. When I try to access the script using a PHP HTTP client (like Zend_Http_Client), intermittently I get an exception (sorry I don't have the exact message on me at the moment). I suspect a segfault. This is further buttressed by the lines in my error log that look like this: [Thu Mar 18 16:03:02 2010] [notice] child pid 845 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) Now, I'm running RedHat, and I know that RedHat doesn't generate core dumps out-of-the-box. I followed the instructions here http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/docs/DOC-5353, but I'm not seeing any core dumps. How do I generate a core dump?

• Connecting a limited user to win server 2003 through LogMeIn

  Logmein support can't help me, maybe someone here can. I have a user on a windows 2003 server (non administrator). When I first created him and tried to connect through remote desktop I got the error "The local policy of the system does not permit you to logon interactively." I looked up the error and saw that this user was not a member of the Remote Desktop Users group. I added him to the group and was able to remote desktop in just fine. Then I tried to connect this user to the server through LogMeIn (pro trial version). I got the same error as when the user was not a part of the Remote Desktop Users group ("The local policy of the system does not permit you to logon interactively."). Can anyone tell me any other groups the user must be a member of in order to be allowed access through LogMeIn? I would image this is a common requirement logmein support seemed to have no idea.
