  • How to find multiple words on the same line in Notepad++

    - by Mike
I have a 4MB log file from the Windows XP firewall which I'm trying to find lines that have both DROP and an IP and a port number. My regex-fu is weak and I'm assuming this is the reason I'm struggling. The words "DROP", "10.1.1.1" (for example) and "8801" need to be found on the same line and may be spread across the line and separated by one or more other words. Any help (or suggestions of another method to do this) are much appreciated.

  • Hiernate's version values in Grails app

    - by xain
Hi, looking at a database dump file, and I see many records in various tables with their version number set in values other than 0 (even 94 in one case). I understand it has to do with hibernate locking strategy, but my concern is that today is Sunday, and the site has almost no visitors so is: is this normal ? Or is there a known hibernate bug or even some programming malpractice producing this ? Thanks in advance.

  • mySQL: Can I make count() honor limit clause?

    - by Stomped
I'm trying to get a count of records matching certain criteria within a subset of the total records. I tried (and assumed this would work) SELECT count(*) FROM records WHERE status = 'ADP' LIMIT 0,10 and I assumed this would tell me how many records of status ADP were in that set of 10 records. It doesn't - it returns, in this case 30, which is the total number of ADP records in the table. How do I just count up the records matching my criteria including the limit?

  • Oracle: what information can I derive from the SCN?

    - by Mark Harrison
Given an SCN (system change number), and assuming an SCN for which the data is still in the undo logs, what information about the SCN can I derive? of course, SCN_TO_TIMESTAMP() gives an approximate time the data was committed. Is there any other information I can derive? What transaction, what tables, what data were affected? etc?

  • Javascript auto calculating with (+) and (-)

    - by Josh
    I need some help finding the error in my javascript calculation. I need to calculate the sum of my input boxes automatically and have my user be able to edit the calculation using + or - buttons. The code I have already does the calculation automatically if you manually enter the numbers, but pressing the + or - does not change the calculation. Here is the code: <html> <head> <script language="javascript"> function Calc(className){ var elements = document.getElementsByClassName(className); var total = 0; for(var i = 0; i < elements.length; ++i){ total += parseInt(elements[i].value); } document.form0.total.value = total; } function addone(field) { field.value = Number(field.value) + 1; } function subtractone(field) { field.value = Number(field.value) - 1; } </script> </head> <body> <form name="form0" id="form0"> 1: <input type="text" name="box1" id="box1" class="add" value="0" onKeyUp="Calc('add')" onChange="updatesum()" onClick="this.focus();this.select();" /> <input type="button" value=" + " onclick="addone(box1);"> <input type="button" value=" - " onclick="subtractone(box1);"> <br /> 2: <input type="text" name="box2" id="box2" class="add" value="0" onKeyUp="Calc('add')" onClick="this.focus();this.select();" /> <input type="button" value=" + " onclick="addone(box2);"> <input type="button" value=" - " onclick="subtractone(box2);"> <br /> 3: <input type="text" name="box3" id="box3" class="add" value="0" onKeyUp="Calc('add')" onClick="this.focus();this.select();" /> <input type="button" value=" + " onclick="addone(box3);"> <input type="button" value=" - " onclick="subtractone(box3);"> <br /> <br /> Total: <input readonly style="border:0px; font-size:14; color:red;" id="total" name="total"> </form> </body></html> Im sure the issue must be small, I just cant put my finger on it.

  • How to make EditText smaller than default?

    - by Heikki Toivonen
I need to show a large number of EditText controls on a screen, each of which will only allow entering 0-2 digits. The default EditText size is too wide for me to show enough EditText controls on a screen, but I have been unable to figure out how to make them narrower. I have tried the following attributes in XML: android:maxLength="2" android:layout_width="20dip" android:maxWidth="20px" android:ems="2" android:maxEms="2". So the question is: how can EditText be made smaller than default?

  • How to localize numerals?

    - by SoLoGHoST
Ok, I'm using mathematical equations to output numbers, though, I need this to be compatible for all languages. Currently, all language strings are within a php array called $txt, and each key of the array gets called for that language. I'm outputting the following: Column 1, Column 2, Column 3, and so on, as well as Row 1, Row 2, Row 3, and so on. The calculations are done via php and javascript, so I'm wondering on the best approach for how to support all languages for the numbers only. I don't do the translations, someone else does, but I need to be able to point it to, either the php variable $txt of where the language is defined, or, since the calculations are done via javascript also, I need to somehow store this in there. I'm thinking of storing something like this: // This part goes in the php language file. $txt['0'] = '0'; $txt['1'] = '1'; $txt['2'] = '2'; $txt['2'] = '3'; $txt['4'] = '4'; $txt['5'] = '5'; $txt['6'] = '6'; $txt['7'] = '7'; $txt['8'] = '8'; $txt['9'] = '9'; // This part goes in the php file that needs to call the numbers. echo '<script> var numtxts = new Array(); numtxts[0] = \'', $txt['0'], '\'; numtxts[1] = \'', $txt['1'], '\'; numtxts[2] = \'', $txt['2'], '\'; numtxts[3] = \'', $txt['3'], '\'; numtxts[4] = \'', $txt['4'], '\'; numtxts[5] = \'', $txt['5'], '\'; numtxts[6] = \'', $txt['6'], '\'; numtxts[7] = \'', $txt['7'], '\'; numtxts[8] = \'', $txt['8'], '\'; numtxts[9] = \'', $txt['9'], '\'; </script>'; And than in the javascript function it could grab the correct string for each number like so: // Example Number String below. var numString = "10"; var transNum = ""; for(x=0;x<numString.length;x++) { var numChar = numString.charAt(x); transNum += numtxts[parseInt(numChar)]; } return transNum; The problem with this bit of code is that it groups the numbers, not sure if all languages do that, like the english language does...? Perhaps there's a better approach for this? Can anyone help please? Thanks :)

  • Simple way to print value of a register in x86 assembly.

    - by Bob
I need to write a program in 8086 Assembly that receives data from the user, does some mathematical calculations and prints the answer on the screen, I have written all parts of the program and all work fine but I don't know how to print the number to the screen. At the end of all my calculation the answer is AX and it is treated as an unsigned 16 bit integer. How do I print the decimal (unsigned) value of the AX register?

  • A viewmodel's role beyond databinding?

    - by DeanMc
I'm a bit confused as to what a viewmodel's role is beyond databinding. I have a menu built in silverlight. The menu has x number of menu items which is determined at runtime. One of the features I would like to add to this is that each menuitem has a different text colour when hovered over. Is it the role of the view to have a colour selector method or should the view handle this in it's code behind?

  • Can IDL evaluate strings as code?

    - by Carthage
Is there any functionality in IDL that will allow it to evaluate a a string as code? Or, failing that, is there a nice, dynamic way of including /KEYWORD in functions? For example, if I wanted to ask them for what type of map projection the user wants, is there a way to do it nicely, without large if/case statements for the /Projection_Type keyword it needs? With even a small number of user options, the combinations would cause if/case statements to get out of hand very quickly to handle all the possible options.

    - by KaluSingh Gabbar
at workplace, the work I do is hardly near to challenging and doing that I think I might be loosing the skills to look at a completely new problem and think about different ideas to solve it. A friend suggested TopCoder.com to me, but looking at the overwhelming number of problems I can not decide how to get started? what I want is to sharpen my techniques ( not particular language or framework ).

  • In an array of buttons, how can you tell which button was clicked?

    - by Michael Seltenreich
If I have an array of buttons, how can I tell which button was clicked? example below var i=0 CreateButton = new function () { savebutton[i]=NewButton() i++ } every time a user runs the function a new button is generated. the first button is savebutton[0] the second is savebutton[1] and so on potentially infinity times. when later the user presses the button I want the screen to alert it's index number (or 'i'). is there any way to make this work in arrays?

  • What do you call the concept of dynamic data definition?

    - by DJTripleThreat
Maybe this is simpler and more straightforward then what I'm thinking but I can't seem to find this concept on google anywhere. The concept is this: You have a table in a database and the table has a specified number of columns. However, it has been asked of me by previous clients that there also be a set of dynamic user defined columns that can be added on the fly. What is this concept called and is it considered a design pattern?

  • Adding an additional click event to every element (JavaScript / jQuery)

    - by Gausie
I'm developing a touchscreen application that, aside from everything else, records the amount of times the screen is used so that the user can be reminded to clean the screen after a predefined number of clicks. I've got the click functions written nicely, all I need now is make sure the function is called on a click. I imagine $('*').click(function() { //do something }); would accomplish my goal, but is that the best way? Also, would that overwrite other click functions assigned to the elements?

  • ASP.NET MVC - Where do you put your .js files if you dont want to store them in /Scripts?

    - by Jimbo
I have a number of .js files that I would like to be stored in the same directories as their views (they're specific to a view - its simply to keep the javascript separate from the view's HTML) However, adding them to the /Views/ControllerName/ directory wont work because when a request is made to the webserver for the .js file: <script type="text/javascript" src="/Views/ControllerName/myscript.js"></script> It would essentially be directed at the 'Views' controller which obviously doesnt exist. Thanks

  • Using SQL Server Views with NHibernate

    - by colinramsay
I have a site that sells cars. On the frontend, I want to only show cars that are published, and on the backend I want to show all cars. Whether a car is published or not depends on a number of factors, so I wanted to create a view to simplify this. My question is, can I reduce duplication by dynamically telling NHibernate to sometimes use the "PublishedCar" view and something use the "AllCar" view when querying/fetching Car entities?

  • How to program a text search and replace in PDF files

    - by rpilkey
How would I be able to programmatically search and replace some text in a large number of PDF files? I would like to remove a URL that has been added to a set of files. I have been able to remove the link using javascript under Batch Processing in Adobe Pro, but the link text remains. I have seen recommendations to use text touchup, which works manually, but I don't want to modify 1300 files manually.

  • Write string to fixed-length byte array in C#

    - by toasteroven
somehow couldn't find this with a google search, but I feel like it has to be simple...I need to convert a string to a fixed-length byte array, e.g. write "asdf" to a byte[20] array. the data is being sent over the network to a c++ app that expects a fixed-length field, and it works fine if I use a BinaryWriter and write the characters one by one, and pad it by writing '\0' an appropriate number of times. is there a more appropriate way to do this?
