  • Converting from a day of week to unix time in PHP

    Hi, I'm trying to get the unix time for date strings that are formatted like so: 'second sunday of march 2010' 'first sunday of november 2010' I was under the impression that strtotime could handle such a string, but apparently not, as this returns false. How can I convert to unix time when given a day of week, which one of those in the month (ie. first, second, etc.), a month and a year.

  • Has anyone managed to get Visual Studio 2003 running on Windows 7?

    Yes, I know... I could set up a virtual machine running XP. Unfortunately our build environment is such that we need to be running VC2003, 2005 and 2008 concurrently and it would be much more convenient if I could run 2003 natively on Windows 7 for the few projects we have that require it. I realize some things may not be available in the IDE, but I was able to run 2003 under windows Vista and if I could get the same base level of functionality under Windows 7 I would be extremely happy. Right now I get an error opening the *.pdb file when I compile after switching vc2003 to run as Administrator under compatibility mode for XP SP 2. Thanks!

  • Is there any way to do a WER "Request Additional Files" for the windows temp directory?

    My company has had numerous crashes reported to windows error reporting due to what looks like an install problem. The logs for our installs are typically in the windows\temp directory. I would like to include the install log file as a "Request Additional Files" entry, however there doesn't seem to be any way to get to a subdirectory of the list of environmental Variables that are provided. The windows temp directory is not in the list of values that you can work from, so I am stuck. In general, I don't understand how it is possible to get at almost anything of use via the "Request Additional Files". For example, the %programfiles% directory shouldn't contain any useful files, they should be in a subdirectory for your product. What am I missing?

  • Are there any good resources on developing ASP.NET for Windows CE Internet Explorer?

    I've been tasked with creating a web app to be consumed by a mobile device sporting Windows CE 5.0 (and some with Windows CE 4.2). I've found a host of things that seem to work fine in IE6 on my desktop, but fail when rendered in IE for Windows CE. IE6 is bad enough as it is...does it lose any more functionality on an embedded system? Are there quirks that a developer would need to know about? AJAX seems extremely unlikely. JavaScript seems quirky when linking to a .js file. Panels with scrollbars are finicky. Textboxes can't get focus. DefaultButtons on a form don't work. Any help or resources you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

  • Where is a good place/way to store Windows config files for Python scripts?

    I have a script/program I am working on that requires a configuration file (I am using ConfigParser). On linux, I will default to store these variables in ~/.myscript using the os.getenv('HOME') function. With Windows, I know I can use os.getenv('USERPROFILE') to find the User's "home" directory, however, is it a good idea to save a hidden file that way (ie, with the name .myscript)? I don't use Windows, obviously, but wanted to be smart about it for those who do. Is there a standard place/way to store these config variables on Windows?

    There are many open-source libraries that can be compiled with Visual Studio. I'm porting a program from Linux to Windows, but it depends on a number of libraries. I don't know what the best practices regarding libraries are on Windows. On Linux, these libraries are typically part of the distribution. To use sqlite on Debian, for example, you need only to install libsqlite3-dev and the include files and libraries (both static and dynamic) are automatically installed and available to your program. If you need a different version than your distribution supplies, you can compile it in your home directory, install it to ~/include and ~/lib, and set the appropriate environment variables so that your compiler includes those directories in its search path. What is the best way to use libraries that are distributed as source on Windows? If I link dynamically rather than statically, is there an easy way to copy required DLLs into the output directory to ease redistribution (assuming license requirements are met)?

  • Having trouble reading XML file from Windows server. Works on Linux

    I'm parsing an XML file in an android app. My success varies depending upon where the file is hosted. After hosting the file on 4 different servers (2 Linux, 2 Windows), I discovered that when the xml is hosted on a Linux server, the app works. When it's hosted on a Windows server, I am unable to parse correctly. Instead of reading the expected xml tags, it reads HTML tags (, , , etc). I'm not sure why it doesn't work on Windows servers, or if that is even the issue and not just a coincidence. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. From wikipedia: For most Windows API functions only the names are preserved across different Windows releases; the ordinals are subject to change. Thus, one cannot reliably import Windows API functions by their ordinals. My Question: I know these ordinals MAY CHANGE, but I want to know if they've ever ACTUALLY CHANGED. (Especially about kernel32 & user32 dlls) Why I'm asking this? I heard some viruses do import win32 functions by ordinal.   • Why won't Heroku accept my Gemfile.lock in Windows?

    I have a rails application that I deploy on Heroku. I'm using several different machines, and I noticed that when I add new dependencies (so that Gemfile.lock is rebuilt) and do bundle install on my Windows computer at home, push to Heroku fails with the following error: Unresolved dependencies detected; Installing... Windows Gemfile.lock detected, ignoring it. You have modified your Gemfile in development but did not check the resulting snapshot (Gemfile.lock) into version control ... Gemfile.lock IS under version control, but Heroku appearently chooses to ignore it since it's created in Windows, and then complains that it's missing seconds later. Why does this happen? And how can I solve it?

    I am wondering if there are any good reasons to ever store time information in anything other that UTC (GMT)? I believe that this is a solid rule for all software engineering. The conversion to local time is merely a translation that happens at the UI layer for display purposes. I have also seen cases where the translatation is needed in order to implement an algorithm correctly (for handling midnight date changes, etc.).

    Hi, I have a financial cube and i have to calculate Daily Sales Outstanding as : Number of Days between the selected month last date and the earliest transaction date when cummulative sum of Revenue from last date of the month till the date where sum revenue <= the debt amount for the date . e.g On 31/12/2009 my debt amount = 2,500,000 31-Dec-09 30-Nov-09 15-Oct-09 31-Oct-09 Revenue 1,000,000 1,000,000 500,000 1,0000 Cummulative sum of revenue 1,000,000 2,00,000 2,500,000 4,000,000 No of Days 31 30 16 On 15/Oct/09 cummulative revenue is 2,500,000 which equals my debt amount on that day Count of Days = 31 + 31 + 16 = 76 Days. In other words Sum Revenue from the selected date backwards until sum total equals or exeeds the total to date balance of the debtors. Any help will be highly appreciated .   • Best environment to port C/C++ code from Linux to Windows.

    I'd like to make a big project of mine buildable on Windows platforms. The project itself it's written in C/C++ following POSIX standards, with some library dependencies such as libxml2, libcurl and so on. I'm more a Linux developer rather than a Windows developer, so i have no idea of which compiler suite i should use to port the code. Which one offers more compatibility with gcc 4.4.3 i'm using right now? My project needs flex and bison, is there any "ready to use" environment to port such projects to windows platforms? Thanks.

  • Adding a Microsoft Exchange 2010 account to my Windows Phone 7.5 mobile (Nokia Lumia 800) without trusted certificate

    I have problems in creating an account on my Nokia Lumia 800 (OS version: 7.10.8773.98, of course with Windows Phone 7.1 mounted with all updates) to one of my company's Microsoft Exchange 2010 server, because it cannot provide a trusted certificate...but only when contacting it from outside my network (like https ://mail.(CompanyName).com). Accessing the server from inside my network (pointing directly to the machine name or internal IP address: https ://(MachineName) or https ://10.0.1.200) gives me NO PROBLEM AT ALL! Setting correctly (I guess) all the parameters for the account (accessing from outside my network), the connection (after correctly set my credentials as asked) will not be established. It gives the next error (translated from my language manually): Error of <CompanyName> There is a problem with the certificate of (Server Address). Please contact support or the provider. Last try: X minutes ago Error code: 80072F06 I've tried all possible configurations and parameters (including the check The server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection, of course), but no way. EDITED: As suggested by Oliver Salzburg, I also tried this way without any results. I tried so: I went to my OWA (Outlook Web Access) that gives me the same problem (problems the certificate, it's not trusted) After accepting to continue, I clicked on the Error in Certificate button of the Internet Explorer 9 address bar - Show Certificates - page Details, show: - Copy to file... button - in the exporting wizard: Next - Binary encoding DER X.509 (.cer) (but there was also Base binary 64 X.509 (.cer), no way) - Next - saved to a new file From my Google Mail Account, I sent a mail to myself the certificate as attachment I read the mail from my WP7 phone, saved the attachment and then ran it: answering Yes to Do you wany to install the certificate? of course... Closed any active program and rebooted the phone Re-tried in synchronizing my account....:(...SAME PROBLEM! EDITED 2: Thanks again to Oliver Salzburg, I tried the next solution: I went to the site https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/ I selected Exchange ActiveSync option, as suggested I setted all my parameters, as I made for my phone I also setted the option Ignore SSL attendibility (and in another test I didn't) I performed my test This is the complete log (I removed my parameters): Seems the same problem (machine name in the certificate is different from the external Exchange website domain name?)!   • Some apps very slow to load on Windows 7, copy & paste very slow.

    Hello, I searched here and couldn't find a similar issue to mine but apologies if I missed it. I've searched the web and no one else seems to be having the same issue either. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on a pretty high spec. machine (well, apart from the graphics): Asus M4A79T Deluxe AMD Phenom II 965 black edition (quad core, 3.4GHz) 8GB Crucial Ballistix DDR 1333MHz RAM 80GB Intex X25 SSD for OS 500GB mechanical drive for data. ATi Radeon HD 4600 series PCI-e Be Quiet! 850W PSU I think those are all the relevant stats, if you need anything else let me know. I've updated chipset, graphics and various other drivers all to no avail, the problem remains. I have also unplugged and replugged every connection internally and cleaned the RAM edge connectors. The problems: Video LAN (VLC) and CDBurnerXP both take ages to load, I'm talking 30 seconds and 1 minute respectively which is really not right. Copy and paste from Open Office spread sheet into Fire Fox, for example, is really, really slow, I'll have pressed control V 5 or 6 times before it actually happens, if I copy and then wait 5 to 10 seconds or so it'll paste first time so it's definitely some sort of time lag. Command and Conquer - Generals: Zero Hour. When playing it'll run perfectly for about 10 or 20 seconds then it'll just pause for 3 or 4 then run for another 10 or 20 seconds and pause again and so on. I had the Task Manager open on my 2nd monitor whilst playing once and I noticed it was using about 25% of the CPU, pretty stable but when the pause came another task didn't shoot up to 100% like others on the web have been reporting (similar but not the same as my issue, often svchost.exe for them) but dropped to 2 or 3% usage then back up to 25% when it started playing properly again. Very odd! But it gets even odder... I had a BSOD and reboot last week, when it rebooted the problem had completely gone, I could play C&C to my heart's content and both the other apps loaded instantly, copy and paste worked instantly too. I did an AVG update earlier this week which required a reboot, rebooted and the problem's back. I don't think it's AVG related though, I think it was just coincidence that's the app that required a reboot. I think any reboot would have brought the issue back. A number of reboots later and it hasn't gone away again. If any one could make any suggestions as to the likely cause and solution to these issues I'd be most grateful, it's driving me nuts!
