• Configuring NAT and static IP on Cisco 877W

  Hi all, I'm having trouble setting up a static IP reservation on a network. What I want to do is assign IP 192.168.1.105 to MAC address 00:21:5d:2f:58:04 and then port forward 35394 to it. • Is it possible to implement an infinite IEnumerable without using yield with only C# code?

  This isn't a practical problem, it's more of a riddle. Problem I'm curious to know if there's a way to implement something equivalent to the following, but without using yield: IEnumerable<T> Infinite<T>() { while (true) { yield return default(T); } } Rules You can't use the yield keyword Use only C# itself directly - no IL code, no constructing dynamic assemblies etc. You can only use the basic .NET lib (only mscorlib.dll, System.Core.dll? not sure what else to include). However if you find a solution with some of the other .NET assemblies (WPF?!), I'm also interested. Don't implement IEnumerable or IEnumerator. Notes The closest I've come yet: IEnumerable<int> infinite = null; infinite = new int[1].SelectMany(x => new int[1].Concat(infinite)); This is "correct" but hits a StackOverflowException after 14399 iterations through the enumerable (not quite infinite). I'm thinking there might be no way to do this due to the CLR's lack of tail recursion optimization. A proof would be nice :)

• Emulator PCSX Reloaded - Fullscreen not working on Unity

  I have an older PS1 console with a couple of games I bought some years ago. On my pc, I'm using PCSX Reloaded - the best PS1 emulators for Linux I found so far. But I'm having a little issue on Ubuntu 12.04 Precise. I'm using Unity 3D and I'm trying to run some of my original PS1 games on PCSX Reloaded. Everything works nicely, except for fullscreen. I toggle fullscreen and specify maximum resolution for my monitor, but on fullscreen mode, both left and top unity bars aren't getting hidden. I tried changing between other graphic modes like Gnome Classic and Gnome Classic w/o Effects. On both, PCSX shows bars in fullscreen mode, so it isn't an Unity-specific issue, but an emulator problem. It's a bit annoying play games this way, so basically I'm running games on window mode for now. I'm using default OpenGL graphic plugin on this emulator. I tried changing to X11 graphic plugin and fullscreen worked, but graphics on X11 plugin aren't as good as OpenGL one. Anyone know a way to get fullscreen working on PCSX using OpenGL plugin? Or maybe another graphic plugin w/ OpenGL support.

• What is Ubuntu's Definition of a "Registered Application"?

  I've run into this a few times when installing apps from source, and during the occasional hack with update-alternatives. So far, it's only been a minor annoyance (ie, not got in the way of the end-goal) but it's now a frustration as it's pointing to a hole in my knowledge-base... so when I get a message that 'foo' is "not a registered application" (or I can't use foo's default icon cuz Ubuntu has no knowledge of 'foo'): (1) what defines a "registered application"? (2) how can I define an application installed from source (and likely residing in $HOME/bin/app-name) such that it packs the same functionality as a package installed from a .deb? (if the solution is not self-evident from answer 1) Example: I download and unpack daily dev builds of sublime-text-2 to /home/tom/bin/sublime-text-2. I've created a *.desktop file with appropriate shortcuts, etc. But the icon for sublime cannot be display in any launcher even if I provide a full pathname to the option. The solution is to install a 2nd instance of sublime from a deb package. When I install sublime-text-2 from a .deb package, it installs under /usr/bin && /usr/lib, the installed .desktop file is stored under /usr/share/applications, and the relevant line reads: icon=sublime_text. Where's the linkage I'm missing? Somehow Ubuntu knows how to exact the icon from sublime_text in the latter, but not in the former (again, even with a full path provided).

  ssh has the -i option to tell it which private key file to use when authenticating: -i identity_file Selects a file from which the identity (private key) for RSA or DSA authentication is read. The default is ~/.ssh/identity for protocol ver- sion 1, and ~/.ssh/id_rsa and ~/.ssh/id_dsa for protocol version 2. Iden- tity files may also be specified on a per-host basis in the configuration file. It is possible to have multiple -i options (and multiple identities specified in configuration files). Is there a similar way to tell git which private key file to use when on a system with multiple private keys in the .ssh directory?

• PHP: A config file in .ini or .php format?

  I'm working on a huge CMS system, and I asked myself what configuration format I should use. There are two common formats for configuration files. The first one is an INI file, containg all the configuration properties. Then you can simply parse this INI file using build in PHP functions. A second option is to use a PHP file containing a regular PHP array with these configuration properties. Now, it's easier to edit an INI file, but a PHP file give's you more options, for example it allows you to add a function which retrieves one of the configuration options while reading the configuration file. Note: The PHP configuration file would only contain an array of configuration, no initialization functions or anything. (This is possible of course, but it's not implemented by default) Now, what is recommend for me to use as configuration file? What is the most common format for a configuration file? Should I go for simplicity with the INI files, or with a more dynamic one using PHP. One thing to note, this is not for personal usage. I'm planning to release the CMS system soon, and a lot of websites are scheduled already to change to my CMS system.

  i am trying to install an init.d script, to run celery for scheduling tasks. Here is the steps i followed: copied the file celeryd and pasted it in folder /etc/init.d/ created a configuration file celeryd in folder /etc/default/ now when i tried to start it by sudo /etc/init.d/celeryd start, it throws error sudo: /etc/init.d/celeryd: command not found I googled about how to install init.d, i got this SO-question. it says to issue a uname -a and when i does i get this: Linux capsonesystem8-desktop 3.2.0-43-generic-pae #68-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 15 03:55:10 UTC 2013 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux and also it says use utils like insserv to enable init.d script so tried: insserv /etc/init.d/celeryd but it throws error insserv: command not found so i tried to install insserv sudo apt-get install insserv. but it say aleady installed: insserv is already the newest version. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 222 not upgraded. So how to install init.d script?? Any help will be appreciated. update1: when i tried: $ sh -x /etc/init.d/celeryd start it reveal some errors. may be that is why the service won’t start. update2: I cleared all the errors when i run $ sh -x /etc/init.d/celeryd start but still sudo /etc/init.d/celeryd start throws command not found error

• How to assign a keyboard shortcut to a specific New Window template in Terminal.app?

  I have a template set up in Snow Leopard's Terminal.app to create a new window or tab with my preferred emulation settings for a particular host that I use. I'd like to assign a keyboard shortcut to that template so that I can quickly create a new window with those settings. I tried using the Keyboard Shortcuts System Preference pane to do it. I can assign the shortcut key to the MyTemplate submenu, but it doesn't work when I try to use it. I suspect because the MyTemplate is listed in multiple submenus -- one for New Window and one for New Tab. How can I assign a keyboard shortcut to my new fancy template? PS. I do NOT wish to change my default (cmd-N) template.

  Earlier this year we walked through how to work with BLOBs in Oracle SQL Developer. So you already know how to INSERT, UPDATE and view the BLOBs stored in your tables. But now I want to show you how to include those images in your PDF reports. You know how to work with SQL Developer reports, right? No? OK, let’s do a quick run down memory lane then: How to Build a Bar Chart Child reports – click on parent record for on-the-fly children records Alright, so if you have a GRID report that contains a BLOB column, you have the option of including the BLOB contents when you create a PDF export: At design time, specify how you want the BLOB content to be treated when you export to PDF Note that you must specify the treatment of the BLOBs in the report design. You won’t be prompted when you launch the Export wizard dialog. When you open your PDF, there will be a link to the image. Click it. Click then confirm. It will launch the default image viewer on your machine. I hope your pictures are more excited than mine.

• Winlogon.exe causes C++ runtime error

  Recently I've become unable to log into my Dell Precision M2400. It uses the Dell Controlpoint login GUI instead of the typical windows one, and has now started giving me a runtime error on winlogon.exe that ends with a c000021a BSOD. I have tried running through safe mode and a restore to the last known good setting with no success. Unfortunately by BIOS password is locked and the one IT guy with the password is on vacation and unreachable until after I leave for a business trip. Is there anyway to bypass the Dell logon screen and get to the default windows one? Thanks.

• "Automatically Connect" option for Mobile Broadband crashes GNOME Shell, how to remove network configurations?

  I'm using Fedora 15, in GNOME Shell, my mobile broadband connection was working absolutely fine, until I set the connection type to Connect Automatically using nm-connection-manager. Now, when I start the Fedora, the Top panel network icon shows red exclamation symbol and when I click it, instead of showing me available networks' list, it shows only "Network Settings", and when I open it, it shows GNOME 3's new Network Manager app, and it pops out the dialog saying that, "Current network settings service is incompatible with this version". And after a few seconds of log in, the shell freezes and all I can do is log out using Ctrl+Alt+BackSpace. I'm facing this problem since I opened old network manager app using nm-connection-manager in the run dialog, and editing my connection to connect automatically. After logging in to the shell I somehow managed to delete that connection from the same app and created a new one, but the problem still exists. How can I delete all network preferences (by deleting its configuration files from my home directory or something like that) and reset the GNOME 3's network manager to its default state?

• Email client supporting multiple accounts

  I've been using Microsoft Outlook for a very long time, although one thing that has bugged me is how multiple email accounts are handled. As far as I can tell, there isn't a set and straightforward way of managing multiple accounts in one instance of outlook. For example, when I create an email, saving it as a draft will by default dump it into the first personal folder that I have open, which in my current case, is not where I want it. I would like all trash, spam, drafts, contacts, etc. etc. to be handled on a PF by PF basis. Now to my question: Is there a way to accomplish the task of email account "segregation" in Outlook (2007 is my current version), or is there another client that handles this in a more organized fashion? Note: I don't use most of the features in outlook (I hardly even need special formatting for my messages), I generally just send and read mail, and get a few attachments, so leaving Outlook wouldn't be too much of a stretch for me.

  The most common question I often receive is why do I blog? The answer is even simpler – I blog because I get an extremely constructive comment and conversation from people like DHall and Kumar Harsh. Earlier this week, I shared a conversation between Madhivanan and myself regarding how to find out if a table uses ROWGUID or not? I encourage all of you to read the conversation here: SQL SERVER – Identifying Column Data Type of uniqueidentifier without Querying System Tables. In simple words the conversation between Madhivanan and myself brought out a simple query which returns the values of the UNIQUEIDENTIFIER  without knowing the name of the column. David Hall wrote few excellent comments as a follow up and every SQL Enthusiast must read them first, second and third. David is always with positive energy, he first of all shows the limitation of my solution here and here which he follows up with his own solution here. As he said his solution is also not perfect but it indeed leaves learning bites for all of us – worth reading if you are interested in unorthodox solutions. Kumar Harsh suggested that one can also find Identity Column used in the table very similar way using $IDENTITY. Here is how one can do the same. • Issue with PHP and osx 10.7 - runs via command line but not in browser

  I recently removed MAMP as I wanted to have more control over my machine and wanted to make use of PHP5.4 I installed using the script located here I cannot now not even get my default PHP that is built in to osx to work. I am running this script with a simple In a document in my ~/Sites directory. I am really at a loss as to why this will not work. I have php5 installed in my /usr/local directory via the link provided above and it seems like the main php is installed in /usr/bin Any and all insight on how to debug this would be greatly appreciated.

  Windows Phone Developer Tools 7.1 Beta 2 was released on 6/29/2011. Are you ready for it? If not then let my guide help you get your system prepared and go through a few new features. Download links: Web Installer of Windows Phone 7.1 Beta 2 SDK ISO Image of Windows Phone 7.1 Beta 2 SDK - (723 MB) To get started you are going to need to remove the previous version of your Windows Phone Developer Tools 7.1 Beta 1.   This kicks off the process of uninstalling the Beta.   Once it is uninstalled then you are going to want to grab the bits from: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=26648. The only thing your interested in here is the vm_web2.exe.   Make sure before you start that Zune is not running or you will get this error message like this one and have to restart from scratch. Now just go through your normal Install Screens. It should be installed and ready to go: A couple of things to note: 1) When creating a new phone application you now have several new templates to choose from as shown below. I welcome this addition because I’m a firm believer that we need more templates in order to get more people started. 2) Once you select an application template you can now pick which version of the Windows Phone platform that you wish to target: 3) If you created a WP7 7.1 Beta 1 project that it will still work properly in WP7 7.1 Beta 2. 4) You now have access to the search app icon. Once pressed then you will see something like this: 5) Under Settings –> Applications. You now have background tasks. 6) You will notice that the Web Browser looks a little different with the URL now located at the bottom of the screen and completely removing the “add”, “favorites” and “tabs” icon. • Connect laptop to mobile wifi

  I have a nokia N97. In my apartment there's a wifi network that we all use to connect to the internet. But for the past few days my laptop is not able to find the network..Initially I thought it was a problem of the network,but hen I found out that others were able to use it..My vista os laptop is able to detect other available networks but not the required one..Then i tried to connect my cell phone to the network and it did easily!! I tried restoring the network settings to default but it showed the network for just 2 mins and it ws back to square one.. I wanted to know can I connect my laptop to the cell using USB and browse internet through that?? I have done it when I used GPRS but am not sure if it cn be done in this situation when the cell is connected toa wifi network..plz help..

• Ubuntu Server 12.04 as a router. Problem with DNS

  I have a virtualbox lab made up of 4 Windows 2008 R2 servers (DC/DNS,SQL,SHAREPOINT, EXCHANGE) that are configured with static ip addresses with NIC's attached to Internal network. Everything works. I had the requirement to execute some tests that also access external services available on the internet. To keep things clean and similar to the production environment I have installed another VM, with Ubuntu Server 12.04 64 bit and configured (I hope) to work as a router like described on this post. This VM has two network interfaces: first is Bridged with the host and is used as a WAN connection and the other one attached in the Internal Network with its own static IP address on the internal network subnet. But actually the Windows servers does not connect to the internet while the unix one connects. I did a route command. this is the result: Kernel IP Routing table Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface default 10.69.121.1 0.0.0.0 UG 100 0 0 eth0 10.69.121.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0 192.168.83.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth1 Can somebody help me with this configuration? :) Thanks! • Need IPSec help on Windows 2003

  Hey guys, I am trying to configure IPSec between a web and app server in our environment. I want all traffic between these two servers to use IPsec and be encrypted. These servers are on the same domain so i am currently using Kerebos for security, I have also tried pre-defined keys and nothing changed. When I try and ping between the servers I get "Negotiating IP Security" everytime. I have also confirmed that when I change "Require Security" to "Permit" everything works so IPSec is working, I believe its something with my security setup. Under the security tab both servers have the default 3DES keys first and then DES keys. I have also specified tunnel endpoints (the alternate server's IP). What am I missing? Thanks for any help..
