  • How to paste text from one app to another using Cocoa?

    I have read about NSPasteBoard in the Apple documentation, and how it allows for applications to write into the PasteBoard and allow other applications to read that text and use it. Could someone tell me how to paste text from am application (that sits in the status bar) into a NSTextField that is inside a different application. What I am trying to do is something similar what Snippet and SnippetsApp do. If I am completely stupid and missed the obvious in Apple Docs, could you please point me to the right path :) Thanks!

    I'm trying to parse the output from a tool into a data structure but I'm having some difficulty getting things right. The file looks like this: Fruits Apple Auxiliary Core Extras Banana Something Coconut Vegetables Eggplant Rutabaga You can see that top-level items are indented by one space, and items beneath that are indented by two spaces for each level. The items are also in alphabetical order. How do I turn the file into a Python list that's something like ["Fruits", "Fruits/Apple", "Fruits/Banana", ..., "Vegetables", "Vegetables/Eggplant", "Vegetables/Rutabaga"]?

  • Recording purchased products from in-app store for built-in products

    I'm creating an in-app store for a few built-in features for my iphone app. Apple's documention recommends using the Application Preferences for storing this, but another question in this forum suggested using NSUserDefaults for another task for which Application Preferences was recommended (by Apple). Can someone clarify if, for in-app store purchases, using the NSUserDefaults is a much better way to go? Thanks.

  • iPad App: Simple Launch View -> SplitViewController

    Hello, I want to create an iPad app that would have a simple view at launch with buttons to different components of the app. Each button then could open up a splitviewcontroller type views. (Interface similar to WebMD: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/webmd-for-ipad/id373185673?mt=8) I was reading online that Apple does not allow splitviewcontroller inside other controllers (like NavigationController).     Apple doesn't want anyone to create iPhone apps outside of the Xcode/Objective-C environment. How can they actually reinforce this? If the other IDE's, for example Unity, compiles to an iPhone executable, how will Apple know which dev environment you used to create the app? Can they have Xcode compile some sort of signature into the executable that no one knows about?

I originally thought I could use Google App Engine to provide the payloads to Apple, but I see now that it won't be possible because App Engine doesn't support the low-level socket programming that is needed to communicate with Apple.     PHP treats all arrays as associative, so there aren't any built in functions. Can anyone recommend a fairly efficient way to check if an array contains only numeric keys? I wanna have a diagram with the following table Apple 30 40 50 Pears 200 300 400 Bananas 10 20 30 The weird thing, when I try to draw a bar diagram the order of the bars change. So Excel draws me first the Bananas, the the pears and finally the apple bar... Is there anyway to tell Excel 2003 that it keeps the order? Thank you very much
