    In VB .Net, the Generics Lists have a sort function that accepts IComparer or Comparison. I'd like to sort just part of list. Hopefully I can specify the start index, count of elements to sort, and a lambda function. It looks like you can only use lambda functions to do this if you're sorting the entire list. Is that right or did I miss something?

I read on websites that you define the key for that array when adding new entries. // Javascript var messages = new Array(); messages[0] = 'Message 1'; How can I add entries into my array using a similar method I normally do in PHP // PHP $messages = array(); $messages[] = 'Message 1'; // automatically assigned key 0 $messages[] = 'Message 2'; // automatically assigned key 1 Is it possible to emulate that in Javascript?     Hey, How is it possible to sort data from multiple tables by relevance? My table structure is following: I have 3 tables in my database, one table contains the name of solar systems, the second for e.g. of planets. There is one more table, witch is a connection between solar systems and planets. If I want to get data of a planet, witch is in the Milky Way, i post this data to the server, and it gives me a multi-dimensional array witch contains: The Milky Way, with every planet in it Every planet, witch name contains the string Milky Way (maybe thats a bat example because i don't think that theres but one planet with this name, but the main concept is on file) But, i want to set the most relevant restaurants to the top of the array. (for the relevance i would check the description of the restaurants or something like that) So, how would you do that kind of data sorting?

    I'm using Crystal Report with VB.NET in Visual Studio 2005. I have report that works if I pass in a list of List(Of Stuff). I had been sorting the report by one of the members of Stuff but a need now to sort first by one member, like Stuff.StatusCode and then by another member, like Stuff.ItemNumber. Can I do this just be having more than one SortField member, or do I need to do it some other way? Thanks as always!

    I'm trying to sort a bunch of data such that that the size of data input to the program can be larger than the memory available to the JVM, and handling that requires external sort which is much slower than Quicksort. Is there any way of obtaining memory available to the JVM at runtime such that I could use in place sorting as much as possible, and only switch to Mergesort when data input is too large?

    We are given an array of integers where all elements are between 0-9. have to start from the 1st position and reach end in minimum no of moves such that we can from an index i move 1 position back and forward i.e i-1 and i+1 and jump to any index having the same value as index i.     I want to create a 2D array that contains many other 2D arrays. The problem is I'm not quite sure what I'm doing but this is the initialization code I have: int[,][,] chunk = new int[64, 64][32, 32]; For some reason Visual Studio doesn't like this and says that it's and 'invalid rank specifier'. Also, I'm not sure how to use the nested arrays once I've declared them... Some help and some insight, please?
