  • Style list of divs as 2 column layout with css

    I'm trying out ASP.NET MVC 2 by going through the "NerdDinner" tutorial. But apparently version 2 of MVC doesn't create a Details page the same as in the tutorial, and you get divs with css classes on them to style. However, I want to get the style where each label is followed on the same line with the field, and I can't do it, I get them on top of each other, or if I try using floats weird things happen (probably because I don't know exactly how to use it in this situation, where every other div should be on the same line).     Frustrated by lack of a simple ACDSee equivalent for OS X, I'm looking to hack one up for myself. I'm looking for a gui library that accommodates: Full screen image display High quality image fit-to-screen (for display) Low memory usage Fast display Reasonable learning curve (the simpler the better) Looks like there are several choices, so which is the best? Here are some I've run across: PyOpenGL PyGame PyQT wxpython I don't have any particular experience with any of these, nor any strong desire to become an expert - I'm looking for the simplest solution. What do you recommend? [Update] For those not familiar with ACDSee, here's what it does that I care about: Simple list/thubmnail display of images in a directory Sort by name/size/type Ability to view images full screen Single-key delete while viewing full screen Move to next/previous image while viewing full screen Ability to select a group of images for: move to / copy to directory delete resize ACDSee has a bunch of niceties as well, such as remembering directories you've moved images to in the past, remembering your resize settings, displaying the total size of the images you've selected, etc. I've tried most of the options I could find (including Xee) and none of them quite get there. Please keep in mind that this is a programming/library question, not a criticism of any of the existing tools.

    Is it possible to manage connection timeouts or errors in a MessageDrivenBean? You can make the factory to retry connecting a certain number of times but... is it possible to make some actions each time that a reconnection retrial is neccesary? Is it possible to register an ExceptionListener into the MessageDrivenBean's connection somehow? Thanks a lot.

The problem is that if ThingService.SetEnabled throws an error, I want to be able to display the error at the top of the table. I've tried a few things with Html.ValidationSummary() in the page but I can't get it to work. Note that I don't want to send the user to a separate page to do this, and I'm trying to do it without using any javascript. Am I going about displaying my table in the best way? How do I get the errors displayed in the way I want them to? I will end up with perhaps 40 small forms on the page. This approach comes largely from this article, but it doesn't handle the errors in the way I need to. Any takers?

  • jQuery carousel in a div with display:none

    I have to use on my site a jQuery responsive carousel with 4 displayed items that slide one at a time, etc etc. The point is: this carousel is placed in a div with display:none and it appears clicking on a button with a slideToggle script (jQuery). Well, when the div appears the carousel is not displayed. Nothing! Notice that if I remove the display:none the carousel shows perfectly. I've tried a bunch of carousel plugin (bxslider, caroufredsel, elastislide, flexslider) and this issue happens for all of them. And then... I'm going crazy!!   • Handling Errors in PHP

    I have a custom class that, when called, will redirect to a page and send a 'message_type' and 'message' variable via GET. When the page opens it checks for these variables and displays a 'success', 'warning', or 'error' message depending on the 'message_type' variable. I made it so the user thinks they stay on the same page. It also allows for other variables to be passed along with the message. Is this good practice, or should I just start using exceptions? Example: //Call a static function that will redirect to a page, with an error message RedirectWithMessage::go('somepage.php', MessageType::ERROR, 'Error message here.'); The following checkMessage() function is an include file: function checkMessage() { if((isset($_GET['message_type']) && strlen($_GET['message_type'])) && (isset($_GET['message']) && strlen($_GET['message_type']))) { DisplayMessage::display($_GET['message_type'], $_GET['message']); return true; } return false; } On the page that is redirected to, call checkMessage(); //If a message is received, display it. If not, do nothing checkMessage(); I know this might be vague, and I can supply more code if necessary. I guess the issue is that I don't have much experience using exceptions, but I think they seem cumbersome (writing try-catch blocks everywhere).   • custom cells uitableview - cannot display all the rows

    Hi guys, I'm creating a uitableview with custom cells which I created in Interface Builder. There are currently three cells (UITableViewCell). I have a UITableView which is on the view. The code I have is fairly standard, but I cannot work out how to actually SHOW the three custom cells. I am using the cellForRowAtIndexPath method. My aim is to get a grouped uitableview which shows like the following Item - Name Settings - alert - time So the above indented view should be my grouped uitableview. The problem is, I cannot get it to show using code. The uitableview will ALWAYS be this. I am trying to replicate the settings style screen... so I do not have any arrays to display the uitableview cells. How do I actually display my three cells? I have the following code - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return 2; } - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { if (section == 0) return 1; else return 2; } - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section { if(section == 0) return @"Item"; else return @"Settings"; } So all I need to know is how to actually display my custom cells inside the tableview!     i'm trying to get the c++ client for mongodb working in visual studio 2008. i can reference the includes, but whenever i tell the linker about the mongodb .lib file i get the following error: "fatal error LNK1257: code generation failed". if visual studio can't find the .lib, then i get a bunch of unresolved externals errors. i'm really pretty lost at this point.

I can display the initial image, which is already in the folder, and I can also detect when a new image is saved into the folder but I don't know how to display the new images.     Hi, I have a pdf file attachment saved in the cloud. The file is attached using attachment_fu. All I do to display it in the view is: <%= image_tag @model.pdf_attachment.public_filename %> When I load the page with this code in the browser, it does what I want: it displays the attached pdf file. But only on Mac. On Windows, browsers will display a broken image placeholder. Chrome's Developer Tools report: "Resource interpreted as image but transferred with MIME type application/pdf." I also tried sending the file from controller: in PdfAttachmentController: def send_pdf_attachment pdf_attachment = PdfAttachment.find params[:id] send_file pdf_attachment.public_filename, :type => pdf_attachment.content_type, :file_name => pdf_attachment.filename, :disposition => 'inline' end in routes.rb: map.send_pdf_attachment '/pdf_attachments/send_pdf_attachment/:id', :controller => 'pdf_attachments', :action => 'send_pdf_attachment' and in the view: <%= send_pdf_attachment_path @model.pdf_attachment %> or <%= image_tag( send_pdf_attachment_path @model.pdf_attachment ) %> And that doesn't display the file on Mac (I didn't try on Windows), it displays the path: pdf_attachments/send_pdf_attachment/35 So, my question is: what do I do to properly display a pdf file inline?     Magento Production version 1.2.1 store running on linux centos. I want to hide all error messages generating from Magento, or if error occurred then I want user to send to custom error page. I tried some solutions like putting Mage::setIsDeveloperMode(true); in index.php but it is not working properly, I even tried to set ini_set('display_errors', 0); but it is still not working. But on top of my php code file I have error_reporting(E_ALL); ini_set('display_errors', '1'); But still, if there is an error, e.g. missing a ")", the page is blank. It is so painful to debug without error message. Why were the errors not shown?
