  • Exploded (unpacked) EAR vs. Packaged EAR file?

    In my office we use exploded EAR's (and inside them exploded WAR directories) for our test environments, and then a packaged one for production. I've yet to find a good explanation of the reason behind this though. I understand it's easier from a deployment perspective to push out a single file during builds, but it prevents us from doing things like property file changes without doing complete rebuilds (we could skip the compiles, but our environment currently binds the compile and jar processes together). What are the major advantages / disadvantages between these two configurations?

  • Jmockit in JBoss

    In a jboss service I need to mock some inner class (not EJB) with JMockit. Just for tests I've created inner class ToBeMocked and another one Mock. While deploying to jboss I get error NoClassDefFoundError in line: Mockit.setUpMock(ToBeMocked.class, new Mock()); with message: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: mockit/Mockit jmockit.jar is added to the classpath in jboss_service.xml. Any ideas?

In my main method if have this: PropertyConfigurator.configure("log4j.properties"); The log4j.properties file sits in the same directory when I open the Jar. Yet I get this error: log4j:ERROR Could not read configuration file [log4j.properties]. java.io.FileNotFoundException: log4j.properties (The system cannot find the file specified) What am I doing wrong?

    After trying and error for many times, I decided to ask here. My objective is I wanted to change the feature of my IE toolbar button. The button is firstly setup by IE at IE startup using the function CRebarHandler::onSetRedraw and CRebarHandler::setButtonMenu2(). And then, I create a call from another cpp file, to call CRebarHandler::setButtonMenu2(). I intent to change just the button's image. I assigned the ID of the image correctly. But somehow it does not work. When I put other code inside this function,like a code for writing to file, it is proven work. Means, it is properly being called from the other file. But the thing is, the code for the button inside CRebarHandler::setButtonMenu2() seems does not work. Need help.     I need to have a file for database configuration outside of EAR file of my EJB application. Even if I define a datasource and call it via JNDI, I still have some properties that I want to change, like hibernate.dialect or hibernate.show_sql, for example.
