  • Jquery getJSON to external PHP page

    - by Pmarcoen
    I've been trying to make an ajax request to an external server. I've learned so far that I need to use getJSON to do this because of security reasons ? Now, I can't seem to make a simple call to an external page. I've tried to simplify it down as much as I can but it's still not working. I have 2 files, test.html & test.php my test.html makes a call like this, to localhost for testing : $.getJSON("http://localhost/OutVoice/services/test.php", function(json){ alert("JSON Data: " + json); }); and I want my test.php to return a simple 'test' : $results = "test"; echo json_encode($results); I'm probably making some incredible rookie mistake but I can't seem to figure it out. Also, if this works, how can I send data to my test.php page, like you would do like test.php?id=15 ? The test.html page is calling the test.php page on localhost, same directory I don't get any errors, just no alert ..

  • How do I send an XML document to an ASP.NET MVC page for manipuation

    - by Decker
    I have some hierarchical data stored as an multiple XML files on the server according to a vendor's schema. In my ASP.NET MVC (2!) application, I'd like the user to choose one of these hierarchies (i.e. file -- I provide a list in my controller's Index action). When the user selects one to "edit" my edit action should return a page that presents the XML hierarchy (it's a representation of a folder tree). So my thoughts are that the view would return HTML that contained a JQuery on load ajax call back to the server for the XML data -- at which point I would present the tree using one of the many JQuery tree controls. On the client side I'd like the user to manipulate the tree and when done, I'd like to post back the new hierarchy where I would replace the original XML file that represents that hierarchy. So my questions are: What form should I use to send the data down? XML or JSON?. If I send down XML then I would have to not only read the XML -- which JQuery can do -- but I would also have to be able to modify that XML and then send it back. Can I use JQuery to modify this XML DOM? And will all the namespace declarations be preserved? What form should I send the data back? If I originally sent the client the hierarchy as JSON (using JsonResult), then presumably I would have a hierarchy of javascript objects. What options would I have to post that back? Would I have to recreate the XML reprentation on the client and post that back? Or should I serialize back to JSON, post that to the server, and then have the server do the work of recreating the XML according to the schema. Thanks for any advice.

  • IIS6 compressing static files, but not JSON requests

    - by user500038
    I have IIS6 compression setup, and static content is being compressed correctly as per Coding Horror. Example of a static file: Response Headers Content-Length 55513 Content-Type application/x-javascript Content-Encoding gzip Last-Modified Mon, 20 Dec 2010 15:31:58 GMT Accept-Ranges bytes Vary Accept-Encoding Server Microsoft-IIS/6.0 X-Powered-By ASP.NET Date Wed, 29 Dec 2010 16:37:23 GMT Request Headers Accept */* Accept-Language en-us,en;q=0.5 Accept-Encoding gzip,deflate Accept-Charset ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7 Keep-Alive 115 Connection keep-alive As you can see, the response is correctly compressed. However with a JSON call you'll see the request with the gzip parameter correctly set: Accept application/json, text/javascript, */*; q=0.01 Accept-Language en-us,en;q=0.5 Accept-Encoding gzip,deflate Accept-Charset ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7 Keep-Alive 115 Connection keep-alive X-Requested-With XMLHttpRequest Then for the response: Cache-Control private Content-Length 6811 Content-Type application/json; charset=utf-8 Server Microsoft-IIS/6.0 X-Powered-By ASP.NET X-AspNet-Version 2.0.50727 X-AspNetMvc-Version 2.0 No gzip! I found this article by Rick Stahl, which outlines how to compress in your code, but I'd like IIS to handle this. Is this possible with IIS6?

  • How does jquery display an image received from an ajax request?

    - by Gnee
    I have this working great, but I'd like a deeper understanding of what is actually going on behind the scenes. I am using Jquery's Ajax method to pull 5 blog posts (returning only the title and first photo). A PHP script grabs the blog posts' title and first photo and sticks it in an array and sends it back to my browser as JSON. Upon receiving the JSON object, Jquery grabs the first member of the JSON object and displays it's title and photo. In a gallery I made, using buttons – the user can iterate the 1-5 posts. So the actual AJAX call happens right away, and only once. I am basically using this kind of setup: $('my_div').html(json_obj[i]) and each click does a i++. So jquery is plucking these blog posts from my computers memory, my web browsers cache, or some kind of cache in the Javascript engine? One of the things it's returning is a pretty gnarly animated gif. I just wonder if it constantly running in the background (but not visible), stealing processing cycles...etc. Or Javascript just inserting (say a flash movie) into the DOM, but before hand does nothing but take up a little memory (no processing). Anyway, I'm just curious. If someone is a guru on this, I'd love to hear your take. Thanks!!

  • [Javascript] Linux Ajax (mootools Request.JSON) Header error

    - by VDVLeon
    Hi all, I use the following code to get some json data: var request = new Request.JSON( { 'url': sourceURI, 'onSuccess': onPageData } ); request.get(); Request.JSON is a class from Mootools (a javascript library). But on linux (ubuntu on firefox 3.5 and Chrome) the request always fails. So i tried to display the http request ajax is sending. (I used netcat to display it) The request is like this: OPTIONS /the+url HTTP/1.1 Host: example.com Connection: keep-alive User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US) AppleWebKit/532.3 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/4.0.226.0 Safari/532.3 Referer: http://example.com/ref... Access-Control-Request-Method: GET Origin: http://example.com Access-Control-Request-Headers: X-Request, X-Requested-With, Accept Accept: */* Accept-Encoding: gzip,deflate Accept-Language: en-US,en;q=0.8 Accept-Charset: ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.3 The HTTP request (first line) is not how it should be: OPTIONS /the+url HTTP/1.1 It should be: GET /the+url HTTP/1.1 Does anybody know why this problem is and how to fix it?

  • fullcalendar events from REST-ful php server.

    - by biagidp
    I've written a very simple RESTful php server (my first experiment with REST, so feel free to make suggestions) to respond to the fullcalendar events callback. It produces exactly the same string output as the json-events.php file in the fullcalendar json example, but for some reason fullcalendar will not accept my server's output. I've tried messing with the headers because they're different from the ones produced by json-events.php, but I'm not really sure what's awry there, if anything. The code for the server is below: <?php class Listener{ function __construct() { $this->getResource(); $this->buildResponse(); } function getResource(){ $parts = explode('/', $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]); $script_name = end(explode('/', $_SERVER["SCRIPT_NAME"])); $this->resource = $parts[array_search($script_name, $parts) + 1]; $this->resource_id = $parts[array_search($script_name, $parts) + 2]; } function buildResponse(){ $method = strtolower($_SERVER["REQUEST_METHOD"]); $this->response_string = $method . ucwords($this->resource); } function getResponse(){ return $this->response_string; } } $listener = new Listener(); $thing = $listener->getResponse(); #$thing(); function getEvents(){ $year = date('Y'); $month = date('m'); echo json_encode(array( array( 'id' => 111, 'title' => "Event1", 'start' => "$year-$month-10", 'url' => "http://yahoo.com/" ), array( 'id' => 222, 'title' => "Event2", 'start' => "$year-$month-20", 'end' => "$year-$month-22", 'url' => "http://yahoo.com/" ) )); } ?> Any input, help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, David

  • jquery-ui autocomplete with ASP MVC suggestions not displaying

    - by adamnickerson
    I have been trying to get a simple example of the jquery-ui autocomplete to work. I have a controller setup to handle the query, and it returns the json that looks to be in order, but I am getting no suggestions showing up. Here are the js libraries I am including: <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="/Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="/Scripts/jquery-ui-1.8.1.custom.min.js"></script> <link href="/Content/jquery-ui-1.8.1.custom.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> and here is the javascript and the form tags: <script type="text/javascript"> $(function () { $("#organization").autocomplete({ source: function (request, response) { $.ajax({ url: '/Organization/OrganizationLookup', dataType: "json", data: { limit: 12, q: request.term } }) }, minLength: 2 }); }); </script> <div class="ui-widget"> <label for="organization">Organization: </label> <input id="organization" /> </div> I get back a json response that looks reasonable from my controller: [{"id":"Sector A","value":"Sector A"},{"id":"Sector B","value":"Sector B"},{"id":"Sector C","value":"Sector C"}] id and value seem to be the default naming that autocomplete is looking for. But I get no joy at all. Any thoughts?

  • I want to input JSONObject from jquery.post() to a a simple JS chart(bar chart)?

    - by ann-stack
    HI I am very new to both json and js charts. In the example of bar chart, they are giving a hard coded array like this, var myData = new Array(['U.S.A.', 69.5], ['Canada', 2.8], ['Japan & SE.Asia', 5.6] ); var myChart = new JSChart('graph', 'bar'); myChart.setDataArray(myData); Instead of that I want to use the response of $.post() method which is in json. Here is the piece of code. var myData=[]; $.post("JSONServlet", function(data) { $.each(data.Userdetails, function(i, data) { myData[i] = []; myData[i]['text'] = data['firstname']; myData[i]['id'] = data['ssn']; alert("first name " +myData[i]['text']+ " salary " +myData[i]['id']); // I am getting correct data here, but how to assign this myData to barchart }); }, "json"); is this the logic to use or how else can i get username and salary from the response and pass it to the barchart. Please help. I am stuck with this. thanks in advance.

  • REST API - why use PUT DELETE POST GET?

    - by Andre
    So -i was looking through some articles on creating REST API's. And some of them suggest using all types of HTTP requests: like PUT DELETE POST GET. So - we would create for example index.php and write API this way: $method = $_SERVER['REQUEST_METHOD']; $request = split("/", substr(@$_SERVER['PATH_INFO'], 1)); switch ($method) { case 'PUT': ....some put action.... break; case 'POST': ....some post action.... break; case 'GET': ....some get action.... break; case 'DELETE': ....some delete action.... break; } Ok - granted - I don't know much baout web services (yet). But - wouldn't it be easier to just accept JSON object through normal $_POST and then respond in JSON as well. We can easily serialize/deserialize via php's json_encode and json_decode and do whatever we want with that data without having to deal with different HTTP request methods... Am I missing something? UPDATE 1: Ok - after digging through various API's and learning a lot about XML-RPC, JSON-RPC, SOAP, REST I came to a conclusion that this type of API is sound. Actually stack exchange is pretty much using this approach on their sites and I do think that these people know what they are doing Stack Exchange API.

  • Webmethod on my C# (server side) doesn't return data to client side (javascript)

    - by Philo
    I am using a c# Webmethod to return results to my client side written in Javascript. [WebMethod] public static string MyMethod(string Id) { SQL QUERIES and then .... // adding data to member class. Member member = new Member(Name, DOB, Sex, Member_Identification, Dates_of_services); return JsonConvert.SerializeObject(member); <-- member is a class of List strings } And on the client side you could invoke this method using the jQuery.ajax() function like this: $.ajax({ url: 'default.aspx/MyMethod', type: 'POST', contentType: 'application/json; charset=utf-8', data: JSON.stringify({ ID : ID }), success: on success { } }); function onSuccess(data) { // parses json returned data var jsondata = $.parseJSON(data.d); ..... } Now the data returned to the client side are Lists of Strings. This method works for me most times. However for one or two queries, the method runs forever without returning to the client side. On the server side however, I can use breakpoints and see that all the Lists of strings have been formed correctly. But I cannot seem to find out why they are never returned to the client side. My code reaches till the return statement on the server side and then the program just runs forever. It never reaches the function 'onsuccess' Can anyone tell me why this can happen? Anomalies in data maybe?

  • Changing the color of dot depending from value on Morris js graph

    - by Michal Lipa
    Im rendering graph by morris js. Im using data from mysql database by JSON. Everything works fine, but I would like to add one more feature to the graph. (change dot color if there is something in buy action). My JSON: [{"longdate":"2014-08-20 18:20:01","price":"1620","action":"buy"},{"longdate":"2014-08-20 18:40:01","price":"1640","action":""},{"longdate":"2014-08-20 19:00:01","price":"1620","action":""}] So I would like to change dot color for values with buy action. My code for graph: $.getJSON('results.json', function(day_data) { Morris.Line({ element: 'graph', data: day_data, xkey: 'longdate', ykeys: ['price'], labels: ['Cena'], lineColors: lineColor, pointSize: 0, hoverCallback: function(index, options, content) { var date = "<b><font color='black'>Data: "+day_data[index]['longdate']+"</font></b><br>"; var param1 = "<font color='"+lineColor[0]+"'>Cena - "+day_data[index]['price']+"</font><br>"; return date+param1; }, xLabelFormat : function (x) { return changeDateFormat(x); } /*My TRIAL if(action == 'buy'){ pointSize: 4, lineColors: green, } */ }); }); So my code doesnt work, how can I make this working?

  • Getting the data inside the C# web service from Jsonified string

    - by gnomixa
    In my JS I use Jquery's $ajax functions to call the web service and send the jsonified data to it. The data is in the following format: var countries = { "1A": { id: "1A", name: "Andorra" }, "2B": { id: 2B name: "Belgium" }, ..etc }; var jsonData = JSON.stringify({ data: data }); //then $ajax is called and it makes the call to the c# web service On the c# side the web service needs to unpack this data, currently it comes in as string[][] data type. How do I convert it to the format so I can refer to the properties such as .id and .name? Assuming I have a class called Sample with these properties? Thanks! EDIT: Here is my JS code: var jsonData = JSON.stringify(countries); $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'http://localhost/MyService.asmx/Foo', contentType: 'application/json; charset=utf-8', data: jsonData, success: function (msg) { alert(msg.d); }, error: function (xhr, status) { switch (status) { case 404: alert('File not found'); break; case 500: alert('Server error'); break; case 0: alert('Request aborted'); break; default: alert('Unknown error ' + status); } } }); inside c# web service I have: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.Services; using System.Data; using System.Collections; using System.IO; using System.Web.Script.Services; [WebMethod] [ScriptMethod] public string Foo(IDictionary<string, Country> countries) { return "success"; }

  • MVC JsonResult not working with chrome?

    - by Karsten Detmold
    i want jquery to take a JsonResult from my MVC controller but it does'nt receive any data! If I put the output into a textfile and enter its link its working so I think my jQuery is fine. Then I was testing with other browsers like chrome and I saw NOTHING. The requested page was just emtpy.. no errors. Also IE seems to have problems receiving my string.. only firefox displays the string but why? public JsonResult jsonLastRequests() { List<Request> requests = new List<Request>(); while (r.Read()) { requests.Add(new Models.Request() { ID = (int)r[0], SiteID = r[1].ToString(), Lat = r[2].ToString(), City = r[4].ToString(), CreationTime = (DateTime)r[5] }); } r.Close(); return Json(requests); } I found out that also if I want to return the JSON as string its not working! Its working with a string in all browsers now.. but jQuery is still not loading anything var url = "http://../jsonLastRequests"; var source = { datatype: "json", datafields: [ { name: 'ID' }, { name: 'SiteID' }, { name: 'Lat' }, { name: 'CreationTime' }, { name: 'City' }, ], id: 'id', url: url }; var dataAdapter = new $.jqx.dataAdapter(source, { downloadComplete: function (data, status, xhr) { }, loadComplete: function (data) { }, loadError: function (xhr, status, error) { } }); I fixed my problem by adding: access-control-allow-origin:*

  • Making a jQuery plugin to feed Tumblr to site

    - by tylorreimer
    I have some experience with PHP and a little with JS but I'm far from anything proficient. I'm trying to make a jQuery plugin for my site that I can call in my HTML via something like this: $('.new').tumble({username: "tylor", count: 9}); Which would basically put the Tumblr list the code should make into the DIV with class 'new' in this case. Here is my code so far; the problem seems to be how to get it to pick up class/id from the original call (in the HTML) and use that in the jQuery. Here's the code so far: (function($) { $.fn.tumble = function(options){ var settings = $.extend({ username: null, // [string or array] required to get url for tumblr account count: 3, // [integer] how many posts to display? }, options); //url construction var url = "http://" + settings.username + ".tumblr.com"; var jsonurl = url + "/api/read/json?num=" + settings.count + "&callback=?"; $.getJSON(jsonurl, function(data) { var items = []; $.each(data.posts, function(id, url) { // Goes over each post in the JSON document retrieved from data URL var url = this.url; // Just assigns a variable to the url to avoid constantly writing "this.whatever" var photourl = this['photo-url-250']; // photo-url-xxx needs to be called this way due to integers in the name items.push('<li><a href="' + url + '">' + photourl + '</a></li>'); }); $('<ul/>', { // Creates an empty list html: items.join('') // Takes the values in the item array and puts 'em together }).appendTo('.new'); // I don't want this to have the class set in the jQuery itself }); //end json }; })( jQuery ); Any help you can lend would be wonderful. Thank you

  • Passing jquery JSON from Codeigniter controller to view

    - by dede
    I've been struggling to make it work, but cannot pass the inserted data from the controler to the view in CI using JSON. The input value from the form is successfully inserted into the database, but cannot make it appear in the view. This is my view file ajax_view.php: <script type="text/javascript" src="<?php echo base_url(); ?>js/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script> $(document).ready(function(){ $("#submit").click(function(){ var inp = $('#inp').val(); $.post("ajax/ajax_input", { 'send' : inp }, function(data){ alert(data.input_text); }, "json"); }); }); </script> </head> <body> <form id="form1" method="post" action=""> <label for="inp">Text</label> <input type="text" name="inp" id="inp" /> <label for="submit"></label> <input type="submit" name="submit" id="submit" value="Submit" /> And this is the ajax_input method of the ajax.php controller: <?php // Initializing controller ..... // ............................. //ajax method function ajax_input(){ $var_1 = trim($this->input->post('send')); $array = array('input_text' => $var_1); echo json_encode($array); $this->db->insert('ajax',$array); } Trying to debug it with Firebug, it gives me that data.input_text is empty. What am I doing wrong? EDIT: I'm using XAMPP on Win, so is it posible that json configuration is the problem?

  • Returning JSON from JavaScript to Python

    - by Chris Lacy
    I'm writing a simple App Engine app. I have a simple page that allows a user to move a marker on a Google map instance. Each time the user drops the marker, I want to return the long/lat to my Python app. function initialize() { ... // Init map var marker = new GMarker(center, {draggable: true}); GEvent.addListener(marker, "dragend", function() { // I want to return the marker.x/y to my app when this function is called .. }); } To my (admittedly limited) knowledge, I should be: 1). Returning a JSON structure with my required data in the listener callback above 2). In my webapp.RequestHandler Handler class, trying to retrieve the JSON structure during the post method. I would very much like to pass this JSOn data back to the app without causing a page reload (which is what has happened when I've used various post/form.submit methods so far). Can anyone provide me with some psuedo code or an example on how I might achieve what I'm after? Thanks.

  • JqGrid addJSONData + ASP.NET 2.0 WS

    - by MilosC
    Dear community ! I am a bit lost. I' ve tried to implement a solution based on JqGrid and tried to use function as datatype. I've setted all by the book i guess, i get WS invoked and get JASON back, I got succes on clientside in ajaf call and i "bind" jqGrid using addJSONData but grid remains empty. I do not have any glue now... other "local" samples on same pages works without a problem (jsonstring ...) My WS method looks like : [WebMethod] [ScriptMethod(ResponseFormat = ResponseFormat.Json)] public string GetGridData() { // Load a list InitSessionVariables(); SA.DB.DenarnaEnota.DenarnaEnotaDB db = new SAOP.SA.DB.DenarnaEnota.DenarnaEnotaDB(); DataSet ds = db.GetLookupForDenarnaEnota(SAOP.FW.DB.RecordStatus.All); // Turn into HTML friendly format GetGridData summaryList = new GetGridData(); summaryList.page = "1"; summaryList.total = "10"; summaryList.records = "160"; int i = 0; foreach (DataRow dr in ds.Tables[0].Rows) { GridRows row = new GridRows(); row.id = dr["DenarnaEnotaID"].ToString(); row.cell = "[" + "\"" + dr["DenarnaEnotaID"].ToString() + "\"" + "," + "\"" + dr["Kratica"].ToString() + "\"" + "," + "\"" + dr["Naziv"].ToString() + "\"" + "," + "\"" + dr["Sifra"].ToString() + "\"" + "]"; summaryList.rows.Add(row); } return JsonConvert.SerializeObject(summaryList); } my ASCX code is this: jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery("#list").jqGrid({ datatype : function (postdata) { jQuery.ajax({ url:'../../AjaxWS/TemeljnicaEdit.asmx/GetGridData', data:'{}', dataType:'json', type: 'POST', contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", complete: function(jsondata,stat){ if(stat=="success") { var clearJson = jsondata.responseText; var thegrid = jQuery("#list")[0]; var myjsongrid = eval('('+clearJson+')'); alfs thegrid.addJSONData(myjsongrid.replace(/\\/g,'')); } } } ); }, colNames:['DenarnaEnotaID','Kratica', 'Sifra', 'Naziv'], colModel:[ {name:'DenarnaEnotaID',index:'DenarnaEnotaID', width:100}, {name:'Kratica',index:'Kratica', width:100}, {name:'Sifra',index:'Sifra', width:100}, {name:'Naziv',index:'Naziv', width:100}], rowNum:15, rowList:[15,30,100], pager: jQuery('#pager'), sortname: 'id', // loadtext:"Nalagam zapise...", // viewrecords: true, sortorder: "desc", // caption:"Vrstice", // width:"800", imgpath: "../Scripts/JGrid/themes/basic/images"}); }); from WS i GET JSON like this: {”page”:”1?,”total”:”10?,”records”:”160?,”rows”:[{"id":"18","cell":"["18","BAM","Konvertibilna marka","977"]“},{”id”:”19?,”cell”:”["19","RSD","Srbski dinar","941"]“},{”id”:”20?,”cell”:”["20","AFN","Afgani","971"]“},{”id”:”21?,”cell”:”["21","ALL","Lek","008"]“},{”id”:”22?,”cell”:”["22","DZD","Alžirski dinar","012"]“},{”id”:”23?,”cell”:”["23","AOA","Kvanza","973"]“},{”id”:”24?,”cell”:”["24","XCD","Vzhodnokaribski dolar","951"]“},{”id”:”25?,”cell”:” ……………… ["13","PLN","Poljski zlot","985"]“},{”id”:”14?,”cell”:”["14","SEK","Švedska krona","752"]“},{”id”:”15?,”cell”:”["15","SKK","Slovaška krona","703"]“},{”id”:”16?,”cell”:”["16","USD","Ameriški dolar","840"]“},{”id”:”17?,”cell”:”["17","XXX","Nobena valuta","000"]“},{”id”:”1?,”cell”:”["1","SIT","Slovenski tolar","705"]“}]} i have registered this js : clientSideScripts.RegisterClientScriptFile("prototype.js", CommonFunctions.FixupUrlWithoutSessionID("~/WebUI/Scripts/prototype-1.6.0.2.js")); clientSideScripts.RegisterClientScriptFile("jquery.js", CommonFunctions.FixupUrlWithoutSessionID("~/WebUI/Scripts/JGrid/jquery.js")); clientSideScripts.RegisterClientScriptFile("jquery.jqGrid.js", CommonFunctions.FixupUrlWithoutSessionID("~/WebUI/Scripts/JGrid/jquery.jqGrid.js")); clientSideScripts.RegisterClientScriptFile("jqModal.js", CommonFunctions.FixupUrlWithoutSessionID("~/WebUI/Scripts/JGrid/js/jqModal.js")); clientSideScripts.RegisterClientScriptFile("jqDnR.js", CommonFunctions.FixupUrlWithoutSessionID("~/WebUI/Scripts/JGrid/js/jqDnR.js")); Basical i think it must be something stupid ...but i can figure it out now...   • Git fails when pushing commit to github

    - by Steve Melvin
    I cloned a git repo that I have hosted on github to my laptop. I was able to successfully push a couple of commits to github without problem. However, now I get the following error: Compressing objects: 100% (792/792), done. error: RPC failed; result=22, HTTP code = 411 Writing objects: 100% (1148/1148), 18.79 MiB | 13.81 MiB/s, done. Total 1148 (delta 356), reused 944 (delta 214) From here it just hangs and I finally have to ^C back to the terminal.

  • jquery small refactoring , json call

    - by Alexander Corotchi
    Hi everybody, I need you suggestion to make some refactoring in jquery code because now it looks terrible for me. I have 4 json calls but the difference it is just the URL call. EX: var userId = MyuserID; var perPage = '45'; var showOnPage = '45'; var tag = 'tag1'; var tag1 = 'tag2'; var tag2 = 'tagn'; $.getJSON('http://api.flickr.com/services/rest/?format=json&method='+ 'flickr.photos.search&api_key=' + apiKey + '&user_id=' + userId + '&tags=' + tag + '&per_page=' + perPage + '&jsoncallback=?', function(data){ var classShown = 'class="lightbox"'; var classHidden = 'class="lightbox hidden"'; $.each(data.photos.photo, function(i, rPhoto){ var basePhotoURL = 'http://farm' + rPhoto.farm + '.static.flickr.com/' + rPhoto.server + '/' + rPhoto.id + '_' + rPhoto.secret; var thumbPhotoURL = basePhotoURL + '_s.jpg'; var mediumPhotoURL = basePhotoURL + '.jpg'; var photoStringStart = '<li><a '; var photoStringEnd = 'title="' + rPhoto.title + '" href="'+ mediumPhotoURL +'"><img src="' + thumbPhotoURL + '" alt="' + rPhoto.title + '"/></a><span>'+rPhoto.title+'</span></li>;' var photoString = (i < showOnPage) ? photoStringStart + classShown + photoStringEnd : photoStringStart + classHidden + photoStringEnd; $(photoString).appendTo("#flickr ul"); }); $("#flickr a").fancybox(); }); $.getJSON('http://api.flickr.com/services/rest/?format=json&method='+ 'flickr.photos.search&api_key=' + apiKey + '&user_id=' + userId + '&tags=' + tag1 + '&per_page=' + perPage + '&jsoncallback=?', function(data){ var classShown = 'class="lightbox"'; var classHidden = 'class="lightbox hidden"'; $.each(data.photos.photo, function(i, rPhoto){ var basePhotoURL = 'http://farm' + rPhoto.farm + '.static.flickr.com/' + rPhoto.server + '/' + rPhoto.id + '_' + rPhoto.secret; var thumbPhotoURL = basePhotoURL + '_s.jpg'; var mediumPhotoURL = basePhotoURL + '.jpg'; var photoStringStart = '<li><a '; var photoStringEnd = 'title="' + rPhoto.title + '" href="'+ mediumPhotoURL +'"><img src="' + thumbPhotoURL + '" alt="' + rPhoto.title + '"/></a><span>'+rPhoto.title+'</span></li>;' var photoString = (i < showOnPage) ? photoStringStart + classShown + photoStringEnd : photoStringStart + classHidden + photoStringEnd; $(photoString).appendTo(".SetPinos1 ul"); }); $(".Sets a").fancybox(); }); $.getJSON('http://api.flickr.com/services/rest/?format=json&method='+ 'flickr.photos.search&api_key=' + apiKey + '&user_id=' + userId + '&tags=' + tagn + '&per_page=' + perPage + '&jsoncallback=?', function(data){ var classShown = 'class="lightbox"'; var classHidden = 'class="lightbox hidden"'; $.each(data.photos.photo, function(i, rPhoto){ var basePhotoURL = 'http://farm' + rPhoto.farm + '.static.flickr.com/' + rPhoto.server + '/' + rPhoto.id + '_' + rPhoto.secret; var thumbPhotoURL = basePhotoURL + '_s.jpg'; var mediumPhotoURL = basePhotoURL + '.jpg'; var photoStringStart = '<li><a '; var photoStringEnd = 'title="' + rPhoto.title + '" href="'+ mediumPhotoURL +'"><img src="' + thumbPhotoURL + '" alt="' + rPhoto.title + '"/></a><span>'+rPhoto.title+'</span></li>;' var photoString = (i < showOnPage) ? photoStringStart + classShown + photoStringEnd : photoStringStart + classHidden + photoStringEnd; $(photoString).appendTo(".SetPinos ul"); }); $(".Sets a").fancybox(); }); var tag is only one difference in this url : Can somebody help me not to repeat all this stuff ??   • Running Awk command on a cluster

    - by alex
    How do you execute a Unix shell command (awk script, a pipe etc) on a cluster in parallel (step 1) and collect the results back to a central node (step 2) Hadoop seems to be a huge overkill with its 600k LOC and its performance is terrible (takes minutes just to initialize the job) i don't need shared memory, or - something like MPI/openMP as i dont need to synchronize or share anything, don't need a distributed VM or anything as complex Google's SawZall seems to work only with Google proprietary MapReduce API some distributed shell packages i found failed to compile, but there must be a simple way to run a data-centric batch job on a cluster, something as close as possible to native OS, may be using unix RPC calls i liked rsync simplicity but it seem to update remote notes sequentially, and you cant use it for executing scripts as afar as i know switching to Plan 9 or some other network oriented OS looks like another overkill i'm looking for a simple, distributed way to run awk scripts or similar - as close as possible to data with a minimal initialization overhead, in a nothing-shared, nothing-synchronized fashion Thanks Alex

  • Using AsyncTask to display data in ListView, but onPostExecute not being called

    - by sumisu
    I made a simple AsyncTask class to display data in ListView with the help of this stackoverflow question. But the AsyncTask onPostExecute is not being called. This is my code: public class Start extends SherlockActivity { // JSON Node names private static final String TAG_ID = "id"; private static final String TAG_NAME = "name"; // category JSONArray JSONArray category = null; private ListView lv; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { setTheme(SampleList.THEME); //Used for theme switching in samples super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.test); new MyAsyncTask().execute("http://...."); // Launching new screen on Selecting Single ListItem lv.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() { @Override public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int position, long id) { // getting values from selected ListItem String name = ((TextView) view.findViewById(R.id.name)).getText().toString(); String cost = ((TextView) view.findViewById(R.id.mail)).getText().toString(); // Starting new intent Intent in = new Intent(getApplicationContext(), SingleMenuItemActivity.class); in.putExtra("categoryname", name); System.out.println(cost); in.putExtra("categoryid", cost); startActivity(in); } }); } public class MyAsyncTask extends AsyncTask<String, Void, ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> > { // Hashmap for ListView ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> contactList = new ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>>(); @Override protected ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> doInBackground(String... params) { // Creating JSON Parser instance JSONParser jParser = new JSONParser(); // getting JSON string from URL category = jParser.getJSONArrayFromUrl(params[0]); try { // looping through All Contacts for(int i = 0; i < category.length(); i++){ JSONObject c = category.getJSONObject(i); // Storing each json item in variable String id = c.getString(TAG_ID); String name = c.getString(TAG_NAME); // creating new HashMap HashMap<String, String> map = new HashMap<String, String>(); // adding each child node to HashMap key => value map.put(TAG_ID, id); map.put(TAG_NAME, name); // adding HashList to ArrayList contactList.add(map); } } catch (JSONException e) { Log.e("log_tag", "Error parsing data "+e.toString()); } return contactList; } @Override protected void onPostExecute(ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> result) { ListAdapter adapter = new SimpleAdapter(Start.this, result , R.layout.list_item, new String[] { TAG_NAME, TAG_ID }, new int[] { R.id.name, R.id.mail }); // selecting single ListView item lv = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.ListView); lv.setAdapter(adapter); } } } Eclipse: 11-25 11:40:31.896: E/AndroidRuntime(917): java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to start activity ComponentInfo{de.essentials/de.main.Start}: java.lang.NullPointerException
