  • Learn Silverlight or WPF first?

    It seems that Silverlight/WPF are the long term future for user interface development with .NET. This is great because as I can see the advantage of reusing XAML skills on both the client and web development sides. But looking at WPF/XAML/Silverlight they seem very large technologies and so where is the best place to get start? I would like to hear from anyone who has good knowledge of both and can recommend which is a better starting point and why.

  • What are the rules about using an underscore in a C++ identifier?

    It's common in C++ to name member variables with some kind of prefix to denote the fact that they're member variables, rather than local variables or parameters. If you've come from an MFC background, you'll probably use "m_foo". I've also seen "myFoo" occasionally. C# (or possibly just .NET) seems to recommend using just an underscore, as in "_foo". Is this allowed by the C++ standard?

    Hi, as I know there is an official document for Java (JLS), I'd like to know if it's also the case of PHP language. I found the "Language Reference" section on the PHP manual, but it doesn't look as detailed as the JLS. The thing is I have a good practical knowledge of PHP but I'm miserably clueless about what REALLY happens under the hood. I have found some MVC frameworks, and some of them support only PHP 5: PHP Frameworks PHP MVC Frameworks Model–view–controller on Wikipedia but can anyone recommend one of those MVC frameworks that plans to actively use PHP 5.3 features, not just being compatible with PHP 5.3? What I need is a good API, preferrably typesafe with generics which allows modelling different kinds of trees (with some user data attached to verticies/edges) and run different algorithms and operations on these trees. It has some worth with its integration into VisualStudio and usage of native editors. It's a perfect solution for XML! However, it does not support XAML editors.
