  • Configuring multiple WCF binding configurations for the same scheme doesn't work

    I have a set of IIS7-hosted net.tcp WCF services that serve my ASP.NET MVC web application. The web application is accessed over the internet. WCF Services (IIS7) <--> ASP.NET MVC Application <--> Client Browser The services are username authenticated, the account that a client (of my web application) uses to logon ends up as the current principal on the host. I want one of the services to be authenticated differently, because it serves the view model for my logon view. When it's called, the client is obviously not logged on yet. I figure Windows authentication serves best or perhaps just certificate based security (which in fact I should use for the authenticated services as well) if the services are hosted on a machine that is not in the same domain as the web application. That's not the point here though. Using multiple TCP bindings is what's giving me trouble. This could be due to mismatched bindings (for example security enabled on the client and not on the server). In the server trace log, I find the following exception: Protocol Type application/negotiate was sent to a service that does not support that type of upgrade. Am I looking into the right direction or is there a better way to solve this?

  • Acer aspire 5735z wireless not working after upgrade to 11.10

    I cant get my wifi card to work at all after upgrading to 11.10 Oneiric. I'm not sure where to start to fix this. Ive tried using the additional drivers tool but this shows that no additional drivers are needed. Before my upgrade I had a drivers working for the Rt2860 chipset.     I am trying to test a simple WCF tcp.net client/server app. The WCF service is being hosted on Windows 7 IIS. I have enabled TCP.net in IIS. I granted liberal security privileges to service app by configuring an app pool with admin rights and set the IIS service application to run in the context. I enabled tracing on the service app to troubleshoot. Whenever I run a simple method call against the service from the WCF client app, I get the following exception: "Stream Security is required at http://www.w3.org/2005/08/addressing/anonymous, but no security context was negotiated. This is likely caused by the remote endpoint missing a StreamSecurityBindingElement from its binding."     I am using WebBrowser control to programmatically access a single website, but whenever I login, I receive this certificate security alert: Since I trust that website and since I need to programmatically automate the login as well, this dialog box gets in the way. I searched SO for a solution and found a question similar to mine, but the accepted answer does not work! I defined a static member in the form that contains the WebControl: public static bool ValidateServerCertificate(object sender, X509Certificate certificate, X509Chain chain, SslPolicyErrors sslPolicyErrors) { return true; } In my form's constructor I added: ServicePointManager.ServerCertificateValidationCallback = new RemoteCertificateValidationCallback(ValidateServerCertificate); But that didn't get rid of the certificate security alert. Is there any way to get rid of this warning? Is there an IE equivalent to Firefox's Add Security Exception??? Note: The owner's certificate works perfectly fine (without exhibiting this security alert) with standalone browsers (IE, FF, Chrome, Safari). It only exhibits the problem with the WebBroswer control.

  • IBM WESB/WAS JCA security configuration

    I'm working with IBM tools. I have a Websphere ESB (WESB) and a CICS transaction gateway (CTG). The basic set-up is as follows: A SOAP service needs data from CICS. The SOAP-service is connecting to service bus (WESB) to handle data and protocol transformation and then WESB calls the CTG which in turn calls CICS and the reply is handled vice verse (synchronously). WESB calls the CTG using Resource Adapter and JCA connector (or CICS adapter as it is called in WESB). Now, I have all the pieces in place and working. My question is about the security, and even though I'm working with WESB, the answer is probably the same as in Websphere Application Server (WAS). The Resource Adaper is secured using JAAS - J2C authentication data. I have configured the security using J2C authentication data entry, so basically I have a reference in the application I'm running and at runtime the application does a lookup for the security attributes from the server. So basically I'm always accessing the CICS adapter with the same security reference. My problem is that I need to access the resource in more dynamic way in the future. The security cannot be welded into the application anymore but instead given as a parameter. Could some WESB or WAS guru help me out, how this could be done in WESB/WAS exactly?

    How to I get my security policy working? My parent swf parses an XML doc and loads 2 children. It throws a 2148 security error, and only works in the Flash IDE. I Also published my parent swf as 'network only' and put all the crossdomain.xml and everything else in the same folder. Entity Tables: Good candidate for Audit columns) Reference Tables: Audit columns may or may not required. In some case last update information is not at all required because record is never going to be modified.) Reference Data Tables Like Country Names, Entity State etc... Audit columns may not required because these information is created only during system installation time, and never going to be changed. I have seen many designers blindly put all audit columns to all tables, is this practice good, if yes what could be the reason... I just want to know because to me it seems illogical. It is difficult for me to figure out why do they design their db this way? I am not saying they are wrong or right, just want to know the WHY?     My web service was created some time back using IBM JAX-RPC. As a part of enhancement, I need to provide some security to the existing service. One way is to provide a handler, all the request and response will pass through that handler only. In the request I can implement some authentication rules for each and every application/user accessing it. Other than this, What are the possible ways for securing it? I have heard someting called wsse security for web service. Is it possible to implement it for the JAX-RPC? Or it can be implemented only for JAX-WS? Need some helpful inputs on the wsse security so that i can jump learning it. Other than handler and wsse security, any other possible way to make a service secure? Please help.

  • How to track which process is failing logons?

    Windows Server 2003, VMWare VirtualCenter 2.5. Something is continuously trying to log on to VirtualCenter using a disabled domain account; the failed logon attempts are logged by VirtualCenter in its own logs and by Windows in the Security event log. This happens roughly every minute or two. The source of the logon attempts is 127.0.0.1, so it must be some process running on the server itself. There are no services running as this user account and no scheduled jobs on the system. The task manager doesn't show any proces running under this account, either. The user account's name is nowhere to be found in the Registry. But some process is trying to use it, and failing. It probably is not some critical process, as everything looks fine; it could be something that was installed long ago and forgotten there. Whatever it is, it probably is running under another user account (possibly a system one), but is trying to log on to VC using those credentials, which are probably saved in some configuration file, since they're not stored in the Registry. How can I track which process is trying (and failing) those logon attempts, either using Windows or VirtualCenter?

  • Patch management on multiple systems

    I'm in charge of auditing the security configuration of an important farm of Unix servers. So far, I came up with a way to assess the basic configuration but not the installed updates. The very problem here is that I just can't trust the package management tools on those machine. Indeed some of them did not sync with the repository for a long time (So I can't do a "yum check-updates" on Redhat for example). Some of those servers are not even connected to the internet and use an company repository. Another problem is that I have multiple target systems: AIX, Debian, Centos/Redhat, etc... So the version could be different (AIX) and the tools available will be different. And, last but not least, I can't install anything on the target system. So I need to use a script to retrieve the information and either: process it directly or save the information to be able to process it later on a server (Which may happen to run a different distribution than the one on which the information have been retrieved). The best ideas I could come up with were: either retrieve the list of installed packages on the machine (dpkg -l for example on debian) and process it on a dedicated server (Directly parsing the "Packages" file of debian repositories). Still, the problem remains the same for AIX and Redhat... or use Nessus' scripts to assess vulnerability on the installed packages, but I find this a bit dirty. Does anyone know any better/efficient way of doing this ? P.S: I already took time to review some answers to similar problems. Unfortunately Chef, puppet, ... don't meet the requirements I have to meet. Edit: Long story short. I need to have the list of missing updates on a Unix system just like MBSA on Windows. I'm not authorized to install anything on this system as it's not mine. All I have are scripts languages. Thanks.

    I am new to Server Fault and was hoping to find an answer to a question that I have been struggling with for the past week or so. I have been recently asked by my management to furnish a list of all the effective rights / permissions delegated on the Active Directory object for our Domain Admins group. I initially figured I'd use the Effective Permissions Tab in Active Directory Users and Computers but had two problems with it. The first was that it doesn't seem very accurate and the second was that it requires me to enter the name of a specific user, and it only shows me what it figures are effective permissions for that user. Now, we have more than a 1000 users in our environment so there's no way I can possibly enter 1000 user names one by one. Plus, there is no way to export that information either. I also looked at dsacls from MS but it doesn't do effective permissions. Someone pointed me to a tool called ADUCAdmin but that seems to falsely claim to do effective permissions. Could someone kindly help me find a way to obtain this listing? Basically, I need to generate a list of all the modify effective permissions granted on the Domain Admins group object along with the list of all the admins to which these permissions are granted. In case it helps, I don't need a fancy listing - simple text / CSV output would be enough I would be grateful for any assistance since this is time and security sensitive for us.
