  • Free country/city suggestion list/database

    I'm looking for something similar to facebook suggestion list with cities and countries. You can see what I'm exactly talking about when you try to create new event in facebook, click to add address, and then start typing in the City field.   • Auto-indent spaces with C in vim?

    I've been somewhat spoiled using Eclipse and java. I started using vim to do C coding in a linux environment, is there a way to have vim automatically do the proper spacing for blocks? So after typing a { the next line will have 2 spaces indented in, and a return on that line will keep it at the same indentation, and a } will shift back 2 spaces?

  • Are there existing web sites that use a photo as a electronic signature?

    The use case: to sign a electronic document, users view the document, and if they agree take a picture of themselves with their webcam (done through Flash from the browser). Then a PDF is generated containing the document and the picture in place of signature. This is a biometric signature, which is not as strong as a digital (cryptographic) signature, but stronger than having users draw their signature, as a photo is harder to forge than a drawn signature. Has anyone seen this technique being used on an existing web site?

  • Rails Google Maps integration Javascript problem

    I'm working on Rails 3.0.0.beta2, following Advanced Rails Recipes "Recipe #32, Mark locations on a Google Map" and I hit a road block: I do not see a google map. My @adds view uses @adds.to_json to connect the google maps api with my model. My database contains "latitude" "longitude", as floating points. And the entire project can be accessed at github. Can you see where I'm not connecting the to_json output with the javascript correctly? Can you see other glairing errors in my javascript? Thanks in advance!     Data.XX.NewValue := Data.XX.SavedValue; Data.XX.OldValue := Data.XX.SavedValue; I need to do the above a large number of times, where XX represents the value in the class. Pretending there were 3 items in the list: Tim, Bob, Steve. Is there any way to do the above for all three people without typing out the above code three times? (Data is a class containing a number of Objects, each type TList, which contain OldValue, NewValue and SavedValue)

  • Piwik Web Analytics - Anyone with experience of it?

Piwik looks like a strong contender in the analytics space (and I'm surprised I haven't heard about it before) but I want to be sure I'm not throwing the baby out with the bathwater by swapping to it. By default, this script places executable to /usr/local/bin, and shared library to /usr/local/lib. In this case my program may be executed by any user by typing its name in the command line. Suppose that user selects custom installation directory, like ~/myprogram/. Is it user's responsibility to ensure that my program may be executed, or my installation script must do this?

  • Using Visual Studio Intellisense for building jQuery selector strings

    This is a minor issue, but one I find myself running into: When I am using jQuery in Visual Studio 2010, I find myself frequently typing: $(#S using Intellisense to find the SomeID object ID: $(#SomeID).click( function() { etc.. }) then going back and adding quotes: $('#SomeID').click( function() { etc.. }) I find it annoying that if I add the quote first, Visual Studio goes into string mode and I lose Intellisense for finding the object's ID or class. Am I doing it wrong?

  • How do I enable spell checking within an NSTextField on Mac OS X?

    I have an NSTextField that I would like to enable "as-you-type" spell checking. When I load my application I can do this from the Menu Bar Edit Spelling and Grammar Check Spelling While Typing. I would like this option to be enabled by default. Within IB I can enable this for a NSTextView but I would like to use NSTextField for this part of the UI. Thank you.
