  • IIS server, web page giving error, some XML ERROR

    whenever i needed to test my web site, i used to press ctrl and f5. i recently installed installed iis service. kept an html page accessed it from host kept an fully developed default.aspx page in the www directory tried to access gave error of XML something.... that means i can only use HTML pages, ? so what to do if i am using c# asp.net?

  • initrd.lz is corrupted error occured while installing 11.10

    C:\ubuntu\install\boot\initrd.lz is corrupted. Error pop-up comes up every time i am trying to install ubuntu-11.10-desktop-i386 using wubi. error comes when the installation process is almost completed. can anyone suggest a solution for this problem.   • apt-get fails to upgrade, install, remove etc

    I upgraded from 11.10 to 12.04, had no issues that I noticed. Recently tried to install something via software center, but it was throwing errors. Changed to trying to sudo apt-get install instead but again no luck. I've genuinely tried as much as I know to fix this, but I can't so I figured I'd ask here. I've done sudo apt-get update successfully but sudo apt-get upgrade failed with... You might want to run ‘apt-get -f install’ to correct these.     Any thoughts on this? We've had this happen twice recently. Basically, every page throws a fatal error, fixed by an apache restart. Here's what's in the log, repeated over and over.     I installed APC on Ubuntu 10.04 and it seems to be working fine but I'm seeing this error in my Apache error.log: PHP: syntax error, unexpected '=' in /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/apc.ini on line 2 The contents of the file are: cat /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/apc.ini extension=apc.so apc.enabled="1" apc.shm_segments="1" apc.shm_size="192" apc.num_files_hint="1024" And I have also tried it without the quotes (") around the values and get the same error. I've looked at loads of the tutorials on installing APC that mention apc.ini and they all seem to use one of the two syntax formats I have tried. I'd appreciate any ideas. Update: This still causes it: cat /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/apc.ini extension='apc.so' apc.enabled='1' apc.shm_segments='1' apc.shm_size='192' apc.num_files_hint='1024' I changed to: cat /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/apc.ini extension=apc.so and it still happens (there's no line 2 in the file now!) I'm assuming a /etc/init.d/apache2 reload will be sufficient to read the new config, is that my mistake?

    Server running Ubuntu 12.04 lts I installed munin the other day on a server. I decided later to remove it with apt-get. I noticed that not everything was removed from the installation so manually removed the munin web directory and also removed the munin user-name and group from the sever. However I have just now tried to run apt-get upgrade which is now returning an error: dpkg: unrecoverable fatal error, aborting: syntax error: unknown user 'munin' in statoverride file E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2) I am now out of my depth. What does this mean? Google results have not really been helpful. Can anyone help? Thanks, John

  • Bootloader error Ubuntu 12.04, system goes to Grub-rescue instead of booting

    I am trying to install ubuntu 12.04 on my system but it is constantly giving me bootloader install fail error. I have tried to lot to solve this issue but reading articles over the internet but still no gain. Firstly since the bootloader was not getting installed I tried to install it on all the alternative paths given in the installer, failing with I selected install ubuntu without bootloader. Then I tried to manually install bootloader via terminal at try ubuntu via grub-install, but I was not able to do that. Then I tried using boot-repair and it was also not able to install the bootloader because after it my system shows grub-rescue. I tried to use boot-repair and install bootloader on a seperate partition mounted to /boot and still my system is booting and it still shows grub-rescue. The error which my system shows during boot is: Error : no such device : 04ac0510-bd4f-43b8-b885-b885-11c4dec21db8 I am not dual booting and ubuntu is the only OS I am installing. I am using Raid 0 with two blue western digital hard drive so I am not sure whether it is right or not. The details given by boot-repair are in the below mentioned link; http://paste.ubuntu.com/1147208/ Afterwards, I made one more change I installed ubuntu again and this time I installed the bootloader at a different partition on /boot. After this the bootloader error has gone but I am still not able to boot to ubuntu as I get the same error I was getting before. I have not installed dmraid, I feel it is neccessary for Raid0, but I thought ubuntu already has Raid drivers. Moreover in the dmraid installation instructions for 12.04, I used the one for 10.04 and selected to install bootloader at the partitions from the dropdown. This time the installation finished normally without an error but still I am not able to boot my system as the same error shows during booting this time also. Now I am stucked and I have no clue on how I can boot my system. Please tell me how can I boot my system.

He went ahead with various different datatype (i.e. INT, TINYINT etc) and he was able to do the SUM but with BIT he faced the problem.   • Debugging Windows Service Timeout Error 1053

    If you ever receive an Error 1053 for a timeout when starting a Windows Service you've written, the underlying problem might not have anything to do with a timeout.  Here's the error so you can compare it to what you're seeing: --------------------------- Services --------------------------- Windows could not start the Service1 service on Local Computer.   Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. --------------------------- OK   --------------------------- Searching the Web for a solution to this error in your Windows Service will result in a lot of wasted time and advice that won't help.  Sometimes you might get lucky if your problem is exactly the same as someone else's, but this isn't always the case.  One of the solutions you'll see has to do with a known error on Windows Server 2003 that's fixed by a patch to the .NET Framework 1.1, which won't work.  As I write this blog post, I'm using the .NET Framework 4.0, which is a tad bit past that timeframe.   • Is there such a thing as an "elisp bundle" for TextMate?

    I started using Code Collector Pro to organise and save my Emacs codes, and this software requires TextMate bundles for syntax highlighting. They have a lisp bundle, but not an elisp bundle, at least not that I can see. I would think that the syntax highlighting would work under the lisp bundle, but for some reason it isn't happening. I have never even seen any lisp code with syntax highlighting, so it is possible that the thing is working and I don't know, but I honestly don't think so, because the ;; before a line seems to me to be a comment thing, so anything after that should be in the color defined for comments which in my case is green. Here is a picture of my code collector screen with a piece of code written by huaiyuan answering my question posted here: Is this looking as it should or is there something wrong? Back to the initial question: is there a textmate bundle for elisp or a bundle like the ones from textmate I can download to get syntax highlighting?

  • Chrome Web Browser Messages: Some Observations

    I'm always on the lookout for how different apps handle errors and what kind of messages are shown (I probably need to get out more), I use this 'research' to reflect on our own application error messages patterns and guidelines and how we might make things better for our users in future. Users are influenced by all sorts of things, but their everyday experiences of technology, and especially what they encounter on the internet, increasingly sets their expectations for the enterprise user experience too. I recently came across a couple of examples from Google's Chrome web browser that got me thinking. In the first case, we have a Chrome error about not being able to find a web page. I like how simple, straightforward messaging language is used along with an optional ability to explore things a bit further--for those users who want to. The 'more information' option shows the error encountered by the browser (or 'original' error) in technical terms, along with an error number. Contrasting the two messages about essentially the same problem reveals what's useful to users and what's not. Everyone can use the first message, but the technical version of the message has to be explicitly disclosed for any more advanced user to pursue further. More technical users might search for a resolution, using that Error 324 number, but I imagine most users who see the message will try again later or check their URL again. Seems reasonable that such an approach be adopted in the enterprise space too, right? Maybe. Generally, end users don't go searching for solutions based on those error numbers, and help desk folks generally prefer they don't do so. That's because of the more critical nature of enterprise data or the fact that end users may not have the necessary privileges to make any fixes anyway. What might be more useful here is a link to a trusted source of additional help provided by the help desk or reputable community instead. This takes me on to the second case, this time more closely related to the language used in messaging situations. Here, I first noticed by the using of the (s) approach to convey possibilities of there being one or more pages at the heart of the problem. This approach is a no-no in Oracle style terms (the plural would be used) and it can create translation issues (though it is not a show-stopper). I think Google could have gone with the plural too. However, of more interest is the use of the verb "kill", shown in the message text and as an action button label. For many writers, words like "kill" and "abort" are to be avoided as they can give offense. I am not so sure about that judgment, as really their use cannot be separated from the context. Certainly, for more technical users, they're fine and have been in use for years, so I see no reason to avoid these terms if the audience has accepted them. Most end users too, I think would find the idea of "kill" usable and may even use the term in every day speech. Others might disagree--Apple uses a concept of Force Quit, for example. Ultimately, the only way to really know how to proceed is to research these matter by asking users of differing roles and expertise to perform some tasks, encounter these messages and then make recommendations based on those findings for our designs.     I'm having issues since yesterday after an upgrade. GNOME session got messed up somehow and now i cannot install further upgrades nor new apps. Here is what i got from terminal after doing the recommended apt-get install -f; (Reading database ... 166876 files and directories currently installed.) Preparing to replace gnome-session 3.0.1-0ubuntu1~build2 (using .../gnome-session_3.0.2-0ubuntu3~natty1_all.deb) ...     Hello everyone, I am using VSTS 2008 + .Net 3.5 + C#. And I developed a custom Forms authentication module for IIS 7.0 and I attach to w3wp.exe to debug this module. During the attach process (I just select Tools - Attach to Process, no further operation performed on the computer I am debugging -- I just wait for the attach to be completed), I met with the following error, any ideas what is wrong? The web server process that was being debugged has been terminated by Internet Information Services (IIS). This can be avoided by configuring Application Pool ping settings in IIS.
