    Using trac, I'm getting a response with the following header: Cache-control: must-revalidate Moreover, no 'Expires' header is being sent. Our local proxy, however, is caching these responses, so when an edit is made, pages need to be 'hard refreshed' to update. Is the proxy misbehaving?   • Windows 7 Ultimate Restore From Another Machine

    The situation I have an old machine running Windows Server 2008. I make a backup of selected directories. New Machine: I install Windows 7 Ultimate (and Windows Server 2008 [dual boot]) I cannot restore those files that I backed-up on the old machine. On the New machine neither the Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 Restore (Recovery) can 'see' the backup files even though they are on the local machine. Is this behaviour (non-behaviour) 'by design' or am I missing something?

    have installed VS 2003 in my XP VM, which was shared from a remote drive, after installing, when I tried to open new windows application, the IDE freezes, I have tried it many times, repairing, uninstalling .net 1.1 and VS 2003 and again install, mapping the share drive to my local, etc., After all these trials I was left with no option I know... SetEnv XML-RPC-IPs 193.45.32.21 I did set it as a first entry in the file and restarted the server .     If anyone has had more than a couple of Microsoft tools or products installed (or a local install of the MSDN library) side by side, you might have noticed that opening help (hitting F1) or opening, say, SQL Server Books Online causes the help indexes to be re-indexed - this is usually after installing a new product or tool. This can be a really, really time consuming exercise! Does anyone know a way to prevent or opt out of having combined help indexes? At best, even just preventing the reindexing at all?

  • Mercurial browser on Windows 2003 takes several refreshes before displaying repositories

    When attempt to browse my Mercurial repositories it usually takes several refreshes before the repository list is displayed. The configuration is as follows: Windows Server 2003 (Dedicated machine hosted by http://www.server4you.com/. Site has anonymous password protection with self-signed SSL. Mercurial 1.5.3 Python 2.6.5 Python for Windows 32 extensions 214 py2.6 isapi-wsgi 0.4.2 The repositories are being served via ISAPI using the standard hgwebdir_wspi.py file (copy to follow). Other problems with the repository server: Before doing a clone/push/etc I have to browse the repositories first otherwise hg on my local machine can not locate the site. I have one a repository with a large changeset that after a minute or so throw error "abort: error: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host". Will be asking another question for this problem. Lots of installed apps install themselves into \users{username}\appdata\local but it doesn't make much sense for me to put stuff there myself. \program files\ doesn't seem right either because non admin users don't have write access there. Is it recommended to create a \users{username}\applications directory?

I know that we can use few variables like PKG_CONFIG_PATH and switches like --prefix with configure to get a software installed in a local directory, but sometimes when there are recursive dependencies it is becoming tough for me to install all the packages manually. Is there a better automated way? Update: What i meant by recursive dependencies is: to install package A, i should install package B, which in turn requires package C to be installed

    I use a MAC and I want to completely block ads on my Google Chrome browse. What I mean by completely is that I don't want the ads to be just hidden. I understand that Google Chrome adblock addons currently hide ads, but can't prevent them from downloading. Is there a work around to this problem?     I'm looking for a tool to monitor custom PHP Error logs/Apache and possibly Java logs on remote development servers. I'm not looking for a full production log system like Splunk, but something that's a little more flexible than an ssh terminal doing a "tail -f". Perhaps something that will: * Monitor multiple log files to my local machine for searching/analysis later * Allow "alerts" when certain strings appear in the log * Provide some kind of tabbed/dashboard view of the multiple logs being monitored (in total less than 10 logs).
