• Alternatives to OAuth?

  The Web industry is shifting / has shifted towards using OAuth when extending API services to external consumers & developers. There is some elegance in simple....and well, the 3-step OAuth process isn't too bad ... i just find it is the best of a bad bunch of options. Are there alternatives out there that could be better, and more secure? • Performance impact of the new mtmalloc memory allocator

  I wrote at a number of occasions (here or here), that it could be really beneficial to use a different memory allocator for highly-threaded workloads, as the standard allocator is well ... the standard, however not very effective as soon as many threads comes into play. I didn't wrote about this as it was in my phase of silence but there was some change in the allocator area, Solaris 10 got a revamped mtmalloc allocator in version Solaris 10 08/11 (as described in "libmtmalloc Improvements"). The new memory allocator was introduced to Solaris development by the PSARC case 2010/212. But what's the effect of this new allocator and how does it works? Rickey C. Weisner wrote a nice article with "How Memory Allocation Affects Performance in Multithreaded Programs" explaining the inner mechanism of various allocators but he also publishes test results comparing Hoard, mtmalloc, umem, new mtmalloc and the libc malloc. Really interesting read and a must for people running applications on servers with a high number of threads.

  If you're wondering how to migrate your SharePoint databases to a new server, this Microsoft article is actually pretty useful, though still overly complex like most of their other articles. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc512725.aspx The one thing I would change is that they seem to recommend installing SQL Server Configuration Manager on web servers, when all that was needed in my case was to add an entry to the hosts file on the SharePoint web server that used the IP address of the new SQL Server with the name of the old SQL Server.  This might not be appropriate in cases where the old server is not being decommissioned.

We are pleased to provide a fix for use of these modern browser versions when using Oracle Secure Global Desktop 4.6x. Please refer to Doc ID 1367923.1 on My Oracle Support. The solution involves a new .jar file, oracletheme.jar and following a few simple instructions.   this is the 1st time to write here and the 1st time to use a mail client other than outlook. I tried to add my enterprise email address to evolution mail, I tried both server types exchange mapi and microsoft exchange. With exchange mapi i get this error message "Authentication failed. MapiLogonProvider: Failed to login into the server" With Microsoft Exchange I get this error "Could not connect to server . Make sure the URL is correct and try again."   SharePoint 2010 Training: more information Deciding on a new phone is so difficult. I currently use an iPhone4, and I am itching to upgrade to either iPhone5 or Lumia 920. The decision is difficult because a lot of my work depends on my communication device, and whatever I pick, I will be stuck with for 2 years. Here is how I see the two stacking up. iPhone 5 of course based on rumors so far. I didn’t even consider Android here because I don’t like Android as an OS.   I recently poked around Google for a little bit, looking for information about coding JScript. It's very sparse, which surprised me -- it took a link to a link to find Microsoft's own reference, which appears to omit most if not all references to console-based scripting that extends past Javascript. I'm working with the console here, not a webpage, so input and output seems very different than what Microsoft explains. If JScript is dying (and it appears to be so), where do I go from here? VBScript? My options are limited because the computers I'm using this on are carefully patrolled for new software. JScript's similarity to JavaScript was the biggest reason I had chosen it for porting over some of my prior work. I'm specifically looking for, at best, a console scripting language that doesn't need any extra software on Windows XP or higher, that at least supports standard input, output, pause, and file manipulation, little else.

You can configure it as you wish. For Office 365 (SharePoint Online), the limit is 7GB per user. Number of items (documents and folders): You can sync up to 20,000 items in your SkyDrive (personal library). You can sync up to 5,000 items from other libraries, per library.
