• Cannot Logout of Facebook with Facebook C# SDK

  I think I've read just about everything out there on the topic of logging out of Facebook inside of a Desktop application. Nothing so far works. Specifically, I would like to log the user out so that they can switch identities, e.g. People sharing a computer at home could then use the software with their own Facebook accounts, but with no chance to switch accounts, it's quite messy. (Have not yet tested switching Windows users accounts as that is simply far too much to ask of the end user and should not be necessary.) Now, I should say that I have set the application to use these permissions: string[] permissions = new string[] { "user_photos", "publish_stream", "offline_access" }; So, "offline_access" is included there. I do not know if this does/should affect logging out or not. Again, my purpose for logging out is merely to switch users. (If there's a better approach, please let me know.) The purported solutions seem to be: Use the JavaScript SDK (FB.logout()) Use "m.facebook.com" instead Create your own URL (and possibly use m.facebook.com) Create your own URL and use the session variable (in ASP.NET) The first is kind of silly. Why resort to JavaScript when you're using C#? It's kind of a step backwards and has a lot of additional overhead in a desktop application. (I have not tried this as it's simply disgustingly messy to do this in a desktop application.) If anyone can confirm that this is the only working method, please do so. I'm desperately trying to avoid it. The second doesn't work. Perhaps it worked in the past, but my umpteen attempts to get it to work have all failed. The third doesn't work. I've tried umpteen dozen variations with zero success. The last option there doesn't work for a desktop application because it's not ASP.NET and you don't have a session variable to work with. The Facebook C# SDK logout also no longer works. i.e. public FacebookLoginDialog(string appId, string[] extendedPermissions, bool logout) { IDictionary<string, object> loginParameters = new Dictionary<string, object> { { "response_type", "token" }, { "display", "popup" } }; _navigateUri = FacebookOAuthClient.GetLoginUrl(appId, null, extendedPermissions, logout, loginParameters); InitializeComponent(); } I remember it working in the past, but it no longer works now. (Which truly puzzles me...) It instead now directs the user to the Facebook mobile page, where the user must manually logout. Now, I could do browser automation to automatically click the logout link for the user, however, this is prone to breaking if Facebook updates the mobile UI. It is also messy, and possibly a worse solution than trying to use the JavaScript SDK FB.logout() method (though not by much). I have searched for some kind of documentation, however, I cannot find anything in the Facebook developer documentation that illustrates how to logout an application. Has anyone solved this problem, or seen any documentation that can be ported to work with the Facebook C# SDK? I am certainly open to using a WebClient or HttpClient/Response if anyone can point to some documentation that could work with it. I simply have not been able to find any low-level documentation that shows how this approach could work. Thank you in advance for any advice, pointers, or links.

• Windows 2003 Domain Controller Very Upset about NIC Teaming

  I set up BACS (Broadcom Teaming) to team two NIC on a Windows 2003 Active Directory Domain Controller. Networking still works okay, I can ping the gateway etc, but both DNS and Active Directory fail to start with various 40xx errors. The team that I created is Smart load Balancing with Failover, with one backup and only one in smart load balancing (So really it is just failover). I have the team the same IP address that the single active NIC had before. Anyone seen this before, or have any ideas what the problem might be? • SQL Server 2005 Merge Replication to SQL Server CE 3.5

  Hi, In my organization, we have a SQL Server 2005 database server (DBServer). Users of an application will normally be connected to DBServer, but, occasionally, would like to disconnect and continue their work on a laptop using SQL Server Compact Edition 3.5 (SQLCE). Due to this, we have been looking into using Merge Replication between the DBServer and SQLCE. From what I have read about this process, IIS must be installed on "the server"... yet, I have found no indication to whether this is talking about DBServer or SQLCE. I had assumed the documentation was referring to DBServer and proposed this to our networking staff. That idea was quickly put to rest as it is not our policy to install IIS on an internal server. This is where our SQL Server 2005 web server (WebServer) entered the picture. The idea being that IIS would be installed on WebServer and would be the conduit for DBServer and SQLCE to communicate. This sounded like a good idea at first, until I started looking for documentation on this type of setup. Everything I have been able deals with a DBServer -- SQLCE -- DBServer setup... nothing on DBServer -- WebServer -- SQLCE -- WebServer -- DBServer. Questions: Is going with a 3 server setup ideal? Does anyone have documentation on this type of setup? Does IIS even need to be running on one of the big servers, or can it just run off the laptop with SQLCE on it? (I'd really like this option ;))

• Making OpenSSL work on PHP Windows 2008 server with FastCGI

  I have been researching all day. Here is what I have done: In C:/PHP/php.ini and C:/PHP/php-cgi-fcgi.ini I have made the extension_dir = "C:/PHP/ext" I uncommented extension=php_openssl.dll I went to http://windows.php.net/download/ and got the thread safe version with the PHP 5.4 (5.4.8) version of DLL's In C:/PHP/ext I replaced the php_openssl.dll with the one I downloaded In System32 and SysWOW64 I added the following DLL's ssleay.dll libeay.dll I restarted the IIS server in the Server Manager under Web Server and stopped and started the World Wide Web Publishing Service That didn't work, so I tried same thing with the unthreaded versions. • Mirror a Dropbox repository in Sharepoint and restrict access

  I'm looking for an elegant way to solve the following problem: My development team uses Dropbox for sharing documents amongst our immediate group. We'd like to put some of those documents into a SharePoint repository for the larger group to be able to access, as granting Dropbox access to the group at large is not ideal. However, we'd like to continue to be able to propagate changes to the SharePoint site simply by updating the files in Dropbox on our local client machines, and also vice versa - users granted access on SharePoint that update files in that workspace should be able to save their files and the changes should appear automatically on our client PC's. I've already done the organization of the folders so that in Dropbox, there exists a SharePoint folder that looks something like this: SharePoint ----Team --------Restricted Access Folders ----Organization --------Open Access Folders The Dropbox master account and the SharePoint master account are both set up on my file server. Unfortunately, Dropbox doesn't seem to allow syncing of folders anywhere above the \Dropbox\ part of the file system's hierarchy - or all I would have to do is find where the Sharepoint repository is maintained locally, and I'd be golden. So it seems I have to do some sort of 2-way synchronization between the Dropbox folder on the file server and the SharePoint folder on the file server. I messed around with Microsoft SyncToy, but it seems to be lacking in the area of real-time updating - and as much as I love rsync, I've had nothing but bad luck with it on Windows, and again, it has to be kicked off manually or through Task Scheduler - and I just have a feeling if I go down that route, it's only a matter of time before I get conflicts all over the place in either Dropbox, SharePoint, or both. I really want something that's going to watch both folders, and when one item changes, the other automatically updates in "real-time". It's quite possible I'm going down the entirely wrong route, which is why I'm asking the question. For simplicity's sake, I'll restate the goal: To be able to update Dropbox and have it viewable on the SharePoint site, or to update the SharePoint site and have it viewable in Dropbox. And since I'm a SharePoint noob, I'll also need help hiding the "Team" subfolder from everyone not in a specific group in AD.

• Caused by: java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection abort: socket write error

  I running JSP on Oracle 11g, Weblogic 10.3.4. I have 2 managed server and a oracle admin server installed. I am encountering an error where intermittently the log file of the 2 managed server and admin server will show java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection abort: socket write error. The application can run for 2 days without showing this error or it can show up a few times in a day. The server load are similar everday. When this error is been encountered, the server will just stop accepting connections and will not be able to access the application. Even if I try to access the application through localhost, I will not be able to access the JSP pages and a 503 http status is shown but then I am able to access the static HTML page. I will not be able to access the Oracle 11g Weblogic admin console page. When I take a look at admin server log, it shows that the managed servers are disconnected from the admin server and vice versa. Magically the application is able to recover by its own and the application is able to access again or I need to restart the server as restarting the service of the application does not work. The FTP connections that the application is connected to are closed as well. I am able to ping to telnet to the server port. The event log doesn't seem to be leaving any information. We did run wireshark to see the packet traffic and it seems that the application port is sending a RST, ACK packet to the load balancer. Any kind help will greatly be appreciated. • Docs for OpenSSH CA-based certificate based authentication

  OpenSSH 5.4 added a new method for certificate authentication (changes). * Add support for certificate authentication of users and hosts using a new, minimal OpenSSH certificate format (not X.509). Certificates contain a public key, identity information and some validity constraints and are signed with a standard SSH public key using ssh-keygen(1). CA keys may be marked as trusted in authorized_keys or via a TrustedUserCAKeys option in sshd_config(5) (for user authentication), or in known_hosts (for host authentication). Documentation for certificate support may be found in ssh-keygen(1), sshd(8) and ssh(1) and a description of the protocol extensions in PROTOCOL.certkeys. Is there any guides or documentation beyond what is mentioned in the ssh-keygen man-page? The man page covers how to generate certificate and use them, but it doesn't really seem to provide much information about the certificate authority setup. For example, can I sign the keys with an intermediate CA, and have the server trust the parent CA? This comment about the new feature seems to mean that I could setup my servers to trust the CA, then setup a method to sign keys, and then users would not have to publish their individual keys on the server. This also seems to support key expiration, which is great since getting rid of old/invalid keys is more difficult then it should be. But I am hoping to find some more documentation about describe the total configuration CA, SSH server, and SSH client settings needed to make this work.

• Map FTP folder to folder on different FTP server

  In my team we work a lot with FTP. We upload and download files from several different servers daily. Currently every member of the team manages access credentials to each FTP server locally on their own machine. I am looking for a way to set up a central FTP server that we can connect to, and from there, navigate to folders that each represent one of the other FTP servers that we connect to daily. Something like this: In-house central FTP server: |- FolderA --> server A root folder |- FolderB --> server B root folder |- FolderC --> server C root folder A setup like this, would mean that we can manage access credentials on the central FTP server, and team members would only need to have the access credentials to the central FTP server, and from there they could navigate to the other servers through these "virtual" folders. We could potentially develop our own custom FTP server that just forward requests to the remote FTP servers, but i feel like something like this (or something similar) would already have been done. • AWS document on number of databases allowed on an Amazon RDS instance

  At the Amazon RDS FAQ there is the question "What is a database instance (DB Instance)?". The entire answer (as of mid-June 2012) is: You can think of a DB Instance as a database environment in the cloud with the compute and storage resources you specify. You can create and delete DB Instances, define/refine infrastructure attributes of your DB Instance(s), and control access and security via the AWS Management Console, Amazon RDS APIs, and Command Line Tools. Multiple MySQL databases or SQL Server databases (up to 30) or Oracle database schemas can be created on a given DB Instance. The last part of that quote, "Multiple MySQL databases or SQL Server databases (up to 30) Oracle database schemas" I interpret to mean that you can have an "unlimited" number of databases on an RDS MySQL or Oracle instance but only 30 databases on an MS SQL Server instance ("unlimited" meaning not limited by the RDS infrastructure itself). This was asked in the Stackoverflow question Does Amazon RDS support multiple databases per instance?. The answer quoted an older version of the FAQ. What I am looking for is an Amazon document that clarifies this question, or else someone who has experience using Amazon RDS who can attest what the situation actually is.

• qsub: How can I find out what DRM middleware exactly is installed on a cluster?

  I have a user account on a very big cluster. I have previous experience with Grid Engine and want to use the cluster for array jobs. The documentation tells me to use "qsub" for load balancing / submission of many jobs. Therefore I assumed this means the cluster has Grid Engine. However all my Grid Engine scripts failed to run. I checked the documentation and it is a bit weird. Now I slowly suspect that this cluster does not actually have Grid Engine, maybe it's running something called Torque (?!). The whole terminology in the man pages is a bit weird for me as a Grid Engine user, for example they talk about "bulk jobs" instead of "array jobs". There is no referral to variables on which I rely on, like SGE_TASK_ID etc. Instead they refer to variables starting with PBS_. Still, there are qsub and qstat commands. Also qsub behaves differently, apparently it is not possible to specifiy the command line parameters with bash-script comments etc. There is a documentation for the cluster system, but it does not say what the DRM middleware actually is - it refers to the entire DRM system simply as "qsub". I tried qsub --version qsub: 1.2 2010/8/17 I am not sure what I am actually running when I invoke qsub on that cluster! My question is, how can I find out if I am running Grid Engine or Torque (or whatever it is), and which version?

• Is Cherokee (probably) the best static content server for beginner sysadmins?

  I have read the pros and cons of most of the popular web servers and have come to a conclusion that Apache would (probably) be the best web server for serving dynamic content - - no wonder YouTube, Flickr and Facbook, among many others, use it. I do not know if that C10K problem applies to Apache even when serving dynamic content only, but I think any web server used to serve dynamic content needs some good tweaking for optimized performance, and the fact that nothing beats Apache when it comes to documentation, resources and support on the web, I think should will go with Apache for dynamic content. That apart, the confusion begins when it comes to choosing web servers for static content (including streaming videos). I see that Nginx, Cherokee and Lighttpd are among the best (I am not considering non-open source or non-linux stuff here). So, which too choose? I know one cannot go wrong with any of the three (Nginx, Cherokee, Lighttpd). Lighttpd's development has evidently gotten slower than it was a good time ago. The documentation is pretty good for all the three, and hopefully, so are the resources (knowledge of these among the users of Stackoverflow/Serverfault sites, the web etc). Precisely, and noting point [2] and [3], if I am not wrong, I should either go with Nginx or Cherokee. I would love to see someone clarify these... is Cherokee just as fast (mb/s), performant (connections/s), and reliable (think downtime/restarting server) as Nginx for serving static content and load balancing, for small, medium to large (and really large) websites and applications? (Think, the size of YouTube, Apache or Facebook.) if the answer for the Q above is a big "hell, yes!" then, I should probably prefer Cherokee, right? Because, since I am a beginner, it would a lot easier to setup Cherokee as it has a graphical admin user interface + really good documentation. Yes? I could be wrong, I could be right. I put down what I know so that you can offer most relevant advise. Pardon if anything I've said is offensive.
