  • My app has some basic problems, and it stops working

    I am writing a basic application which contains two activities. Both contain a TextView showing the title and the first one contains an EditText in which the user types a message and clicks on a button on its side, the second activity is launched which shows the message the user types. It has the following problems: The title (the first TextView in both the activities) doesn't show in the middle of the line, despite of the android:gravity="center_horizontal" attribute. The EditText in the first activity does not show at all. When I click on the button, the app stops saying "Unfortunately Write n Display and stopped.", rather than launching the second activity at all. I don't have adequate knowledge about logcat, but I have followed the steps somebody had told me, that is WindowOpen Perspective Other DDMS Then run the app and select the package name from the Devices and click on log cat, select the exception(s) and export to text file.   • The best Drupal and JavaScript developer?

    I've read a lot of JS articles and books by Nicholas Zakas and Addy Osmani, in my opinion evangelists in the field. But I am also a Drupal developer, and these guys are not. Many of the techniques they're talking about such as AMD and RequireJS are great, but it's hard to know how to integrate them when it comes to Drupal (and do it right, ofc). So my question is if there are any recognized developer/s out there with strong JavaScript AND Drupal experience?

Note: I know that I can use just the same name for each input element and retrieve them as an array, but the above is just a basic example, in real I really need to have the name attribute changed, because it not only contains the index, but also other information such as parentindex, ordering, etc. It's been used to add/rearrange/remove (sub)menu items. Edit: this is related to this bug, The jQuery (I'm using 1.3.2) does thus not seem to create inputs that way?   • Can I stream Netflix to Ubuntu via a Mac?

    Right now I'm dual-booting Ubuntu and OS X. The only thing I use OS X for is watching the DRM-ed Netflix stream. I've looked into ways of watching Netflix on Ubuntu, but it seems the DRM basically makes that impossible (Moonlight project says unless Netflix drops the DRM their Silverlight replacement will not allow watching of Netflix). But then I realized, hey what if I stream Netflix to another computer running say, OS X, then somehow redirect it (using Unix magic) to my Ubuntu machine? Is this possible?

  • Does Sublime's "minimap" improve productivity?

    I'm a pretty big fan of Sublime. One of my favorite features is the ability to scroll through your file by using the compressed image of your text on the upper right hand corner (minimap). My gut feeling is this does positive things for productivity: Does having this minimap to scroll through actually improve productivity? P.S. - Side question: Did Sublime invent this idea, or did they take it from another text editor?

    If i have a vertex shader that manage some movements and variations about the position of some vertex in my OpenGL context, OpenGL is smart enough to just run this shader on only the vertex visible on the screen? This part of the OpenGL programmable pipeline is not clear to me because all the sources are not really really clear about this, they talk about fragments and pixels and I get that, but what about vertex shaders? If you need a reference i'm reading from this right now and this online book has a couple of examples about this.

Also, am I right to assume I can restore Transformer to factory status if I break something in the attempt?

  • How do I prevent tampering with AJAX process page? [closed]

    I am using Ajax for processing with JQUERY. The Data_string is sent to my process.php page, where it is saved. Issue: right now anyone can directly type example.com/process.php to access my process page, or type example.com/process.php/var1=foo1&var2=foo2 to emulate a form submission. How do I prevent this from happening? Also, in the Ajax code I specified POST. What is the difference here between POST and GET?

    I've just been working through a database looking for log tables which can have data aged out, or deleted if you like. I was using SSMS for this and used the default right click select top 1000 rows as a quick view of the data. Establishing that I had unwanted data in such a table I deleted based upon getdate()-30 , nearly 7,000 rows deleted, I then highlighted the top 1000 rows query and re-ran query, surpisingly I still got the same result set with 2006 dates in it, and 1,000 rows.   • Window focus confusion in unity

    I like having focus prevention set to high, so that I don't have some stupid auto-launched app steal my typing in the middle of something else. Unfortunately, Unity keeps focus on the right window while raising the new one. A number of times, this has caused me to close an application by accident that had control of the menu bar, even though it was underneath the new window. Is there a way to prevent raise without focus?
