• How do I "step over" jQuery code while debugging?

  While stepping through a script that uses jQuery, I just want to test the code I wrote. I don't want to step into the jQuery file -- I'm not debugging jQuery, just my own file. Are there any ways to tell a debugger to not step into the jQuery file? I use Visual Studio + Internet Explorer, as well as Firefox + Firebug for stepping through code ... and both seem to love to step through dozens of jQuery statements. For example, say I have a script like this: $("div").each(function() { $(this).hide(); }); I would like to press "step into" and not see the implementation of ".each()" etc... In C#, this is possible by using the [DebuggerStepThrough()] attribute on a class. But that doesn't help with JavaScript.

  I am trying to design a windows-service which monitors a process namely "Gtalk", if the process is started then, the browser Internet-explorer (process iexplore) should be closed. This should happen only when the process "Gtalk" is started, [not when running] The code I have written and implemented, doesn't allow to open IExplore when Gtalk is running. That is certainly what not I am trying for. The process Gtalk should close browser only at its start-up, After the process is started, it should allow to open IExplore. Is it possible with Windows service or is it must be the part of Gtalk process itself? • Firefox back issue

  Hello, I am using a menu that switches from standard state to select state for an item by reading the current url var where = document.location.href; My issue is that when using Firefox, if I switch to some items from the menu (for instance, I click home, donwload, contact) and press the back button the url is not read correctly so 2 items remain on the selected state. This only happens in Firefox (I've tested already in Explorer, Chrome and Opera) So what I'm trying to ask: is there a way to handle the so called back button action in/for Firefox so I can fix my menu issue ?

• How do i use SQL Server 2008? With Visual Studios?

  Its a two part question. How do i use SQL Server 2008? With Visual Studios? I started up a dummy project and with server explorer i tried with create new sql server database and add connection using my computer name (it came from a dropdown) as the server location. When i tried to create the database 'TestDB1' i got an error. I dont understand why. Its a fresh install and i have restarted the comp a few times since then. I havent messed with visual studios or the servers or even the control options to disable anything that would have been automatic. So whats with this? -edit- My goals are 1) create a database. 2) Be able to see all the database that exist on the server 3) execute sql queries in the ide 4) be able to browse tables. I dont need all of these but as many possible would be nice.

• Hidden field value set with jQuery doesn't submit

  I'm completely perplexed. I set the value of a hidden field with jQuery and the submit the form. The hidden value is present when I dump the $_POST array via PHP unless I use Internet Explorer. Here's the test code: $('#hidden-field').val('I am a hidden value'); // To make sure it's setting properly ... // This shows its being set in FF, Chrome, **AND** IE alert($('#hidden-field').val()); Then on the PHP side: print_r($_POST); For submissions made with IE the result looks like this: Array ( [hidden-field] => ) Other browsers have the value. Help? Why doesn't the value submit and how can I make it?

• File folder sql programming

  I'm trying to figure out the best way to make a file folder system in sql. I'm making a website that will be using similar system as explorer in windows. You open your c: drive and you see there some folders and files, and you open one folder and you see more files and folders there. So what i'm asking, would i use one table for this and just point to the parent id number or what ? I have this in my head.. You make a Primary folder, it gets the u_id=1. Then i make a file in that folder, it gets u_id=2 and p_id=1 so i know its there right? same with the folders. This would all be in one table but i cant help thinking there is some major flaw in this..

• Qt drag/drop: cannot move when copy is enabled (Ubuntu Gnome)

  I'm implementing a view and a model where I want to support both moving items internally (by dragging), and copying items (by pressing Ctrl while dragging). I've done everything I need to do according to the instructions. I've set up the mime functions, I've implemented removeRows(), and flags(). The problem is when I drag, it defaults to a copy operation (I get the arrow cursor with a plus sign, and it indeed copies the item by creating a new one in the model). The only difference I can see is this: If I return only Qt::MoveAction in supportedDropActions(), it only moves. If I return (Qt::CopyAction | Qt::MoveAction), it only copies. Any ideas? I want it to work like files in Nautilus (Gnome) or Windows file Explorer: drag moves icons around, ctrl+drag copies them.

  I have a file on a Windows 2003 NTFS file system. It is called C:\MyFolder\MyFile.txt. First grant a user read access to the file. Then I remove the user's read access to the parent folder. Now the user cannot use Windows Explorer to browse the folder and double click to open in Notepad. The user can go to Start (menu) Run and enter "C:\MyFolder\MyFile.txt" and the file will load in Notepad. Can someone point me to some MSDN documentation that explains why this is? I've tried all the google and bing queries I can think of. thanks much

• JavaScript: String Concatenation slow performance? Array.join('')?

  I've read that if I have a for loop, I should not use string concation because it's slow. Such as: for (i=0;i<10000000;i++) { str += 'a'; } And instead, I should use Array.join(), since it's much faster: var tmp = []; for (i=0;i<10000000;i++) { tmp.push('a'); } var str = tmp.join(''); However, I have also read that string concatention is ONLY a problem for Internet Explorer and that browsers such as Safari/Chrome, which use Webkit, actually perform FASTER is using string concatention than Array.join(). I've attempting to find a performance comparison between all major browser of string concatenation vs Array.join() and haven't been able to find one. As such, what is faster and more efficient JavaScript code? Using string concatenation or Array.join()?

• Cisco ASA: How to route PPPoE-assigned subnet?

  We've just received a fiber uplink, and I'm trying to configure our Cisco ASA 5505 to properly use it. The provider requires us to connect via PPPoE, and I managed to configure the ASA as a PPPoE client and establish a connection. The ASA is assigned an IP address by PPPoE, and I can ping out from the ASA to the internet, but I should have access to an entire /28 subnet. I can't figure out how to get that subnet configured on the ASA, so that I can route or NAT the available public addresses to various internal hosts. My assigned range is: 188.xx.xx.176/28 The address I get via PPPoE is 188.xx.xx.177/32, which according to our provider is our Default Gateway address. They claim the subnet is correctly routed to us on their side. How does the ASA know which range it is responsible for on the Fiber interface? How do I use the addresses from my range? To clarify my config; The ASA is currently configured to default-route to our ADSL uplink on port Ethernet0/0 (interface vlan2, nicknamed Outside). The fiber is connected to port Ethernet0/2 (interface vlan50, nicknamed Fiber) so I can configure and test it before making it the default route. Once I'm clear on how to set it all up, I'll fully replace the Outside interface with Fiber. I have a little home server set up, for internet sharing, samba, basic http, dlna mediaserver and what not, and I happend to have a domain at hand, so I thought why not direct it to this computer? I have a BIND 9.8.0 installed, and - afaik - configured it properly. For a few days, the public view did not worked, and I really did not cared, since the local view worked. But now suddenly, even the local view fails.   I'm using Django 1.1.1 stable. When DEBUG is set to True Django flatpages works correctly; when DEBUG is False every flatpage I try to access raises a custom 404 error (my error template is obviously working correctly). Searching around on the internet suggests creating 404 and 500 templates which I have done. I've added to FlatpageFallBackMiddleware to middleware_classes and flatpages is added to installed applications. Any ideas how I can make flatpages work?
