• Is it possible to have an out-of-process COM server where a separate O/S process is used for each ob

  I have a legacy C++ "solution engine" that I have already wrapped as an in-process COM object for use by client applications that only require a single "solution engine". However I now have a client application that requires multiple "solution engines". Unfortunately the underlying legacy code has enough global data, singletons and threading horrors that given available resources it isn't possible to have multiple instances of it in-process simultaneously. What I am hoping is that some kind soul can tell me of some COM magic where with the flip of a couple of registry settings it is possible to have a separate out-of-process COM server (separate operating system process) for each instance of the COM object requested. Am I in luck?

  The Korn shell used to have a very useful option to cd for traversing similar directory structures e.g. given the following directorys /home/sweet/dev/projects/trunk/projecta/app/models /home/andy/dev/projects/trunk/projecta/app/models Then if you were in the /home/sweet.... directory then you could change to the equivalent directory in andy's structure by typing cd sweet andy So if ksh saw 2 arguments then it would scan the current directory path for the first value, replace it with the second and cd there. Is anyone aware of similar functionality in bash. When the model is created the object is persisted with a POST to the web server, but when the model is destroyed there is no DELETE sent to the server? • Routing zend request through a default controller when controller not found.

  Below is a function defined in my Bootstrap class. I must be missing something fundamental in the way Zend does routing and dispatching. What I am trying to accomplish is simple: For any request /foo/bar/* that is not dispatchable for any reason try /index/foo/bar/. The problem I'm having is when the FooController exists I get Action "foo" does not exist. • C functions invoked as threads - Linux userland program

  I'm writing a linux daemon in C which gets values from an ADC by SPI interface (ioctl). The SPI (spidev - userland) seems to be a bit unstable and freezes the daemon at random times. I need to have some better control of the calls to the functions getting the values, and I was thinking of making it as a thread which I could wait for to finish and get the return value and if it times out assume that it froze and kill it without this new thread taking down the daemon itself. Also I could do other things like resetting the ADC before restarting. Is this possible? What do we need is to be able to make Jenkins to checkout (or should I say clone?) the GIT project (repository?) into a specific directory. We've tried some refspecs magic but it wasn't to obvious to understand and to use successfully. Furthermore, if in the same Jenkins project we need to checkout several private GitHub repositories into several separate dirs under a project root. How can we do it please?   I'm using jQuery to modify the style of some pages in a large set of existing Web pages. This works, but the problem I have is that, for longer pages, the page is briefly visible with the wrong styles before the javascript kicks in and transforms the page. I'm using this kind of thing (the alerts are just to emphasize the problem): $(document).ready(function(){ ... alert("at this point the page is visible unstyled"); $('body').addClass('myStyle'); alert("now page looks like I want it to"); ... } How do I prevent the browser from displaying the page until $(document).ready(function() completes?

  When is exception handling more preferable than condition checking? There are many situations where I can choose using one or the other. Or am I wrong? What are the proper cases for defining APIs which raise exceptions and why?

  Hi, I'm working on Flash Builder with latest flex SDK. I have a problem getting the value radioButton of the selceted radio button inside a form: <mx:Form id="form_new_contribution"> <mx:FormItem label="Contribution type" includeIn="project_contributions"> <mx:RadioButtonGroup id="myG" enabled="true" /> <mx:RadioButton id="subtitle" label="subtitle" groupName="{myG}" value="subtitle"/> <mx:RadioButton id="note" label="notes / chapters" groupName="{myG}" value="note"/> </mx:FormItem> </mx:Form> the function is: protected function button_add_new_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void{ Alert.show(myG.selectedValue.toString()); } I tried also: Alert.show(myG.selection.toString()); bothe codes show error: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. and if It only works if I put : Alert.show(myG.toString()); it alerts : Object RadioButtonGroup thanx for any hints, and sorry for the long message :)
