  • .NET/C# Drizzle database client

    - by FlappySocks
I am planning to use Drizzle in my next C# Mono app. Since there is no C# client available for Drizzle, I thought I would have a stab at writing my own by converting the Java client, and then making it work with DBLinq. Having seen the Java client, I realise that it's a longer job that I had anticipated, and I don't have the time. Besides the Java client is not all that mature yet. Since there is an official Drizzle C client library (libdrizzle), writing a C# wrapper might be the best solution. Are there any tools available that can assist in generating the code for this?

  • Android quotes within an sql query string

    - by miannelle
I want to perform a query like the following: uvalue = EditText( some user value ); p_query = "select * from mytable where name_field = '" + uvalue + "'" ; mDb.rawQuery( p_query, null ); if the user enters a single quote in their input it crashes. If you change it to: p_query = "select * from mytable where name_field = \"" + uvalue + "\"" ; it crashes if the user enters a double quote in their input. and of course they could always enter both single and double quotes.

  • Oracle: What does `(+)` do in a WHERE clause?

    - by Jonathan Lonowski
Found the following in an Oracle-based application that we're migrating (generalized): SELECT Table1.Category1, Table1.Category2, count(*) as Total, count(Tab2.Stat) AS Stat FROM Table1, Table2 WHERE (Table1.PrimaryKey = Table2.ForeignKey(+)) GROUP BY Table1.Category1, Table1.Category2 What does (+) do in a WHERE clause? I've never seen it used like that before.

  • Right way to implement a n-to-m related

    - by ThreeFingerMark
Hello, this is a part from my database structure: Table: Item Columns: ItemID, Title, Content, Price Table: Tag Columns: TagID, Title Table: ItemTag Columns: ItemID, TagID Table: Image Columns: ImageID, Path, Size, UploadDate Table: ItemImage Columns: ItemID, ImageID The items can have more than one image so i have a extra table "Image" and map this images to an items. I see now a problem with this structure. Before i can add Images i must enter an item. My question is now. Is this structure a good way to solve my problem with many images / tags for one item? Thank you

  • c# finding matching words in table column using Linq2Sql

    - by David Liddle
I am trying to use Linq2Sql to return all rows that contain values from a list of strings. The linq2sql class object has a string property that contains words separated by spaces. public class MyObject { public string MyProperty { get; set; } } Example MyProperty values are: MyObject1.MyProperty = "text1 text2 text3 text4" MyObject2.MyProperty = "text2" For example, using a string collection, I pass the below list var list = new List<>() { "text2", "text4" } This would return both items in my example above as they both contain "text2" value. I attempted the following using the below code however, because of my extension method the Linq2Sql cannot be evaluated. public static IQueryable<MyObject> WithProperty(this IQueryable<MyProperty> qry, IList<string> p) { return from t in qry where t.MyProperty.Contains(p, ' ') select t; } I also wrote an extension method public static bool Contains(this string str, IList<string> list, char seperator) { if (String.IsNullOrEmpty(str) || list == null) return false; var splitStr = str.Split(new char[] { seperator }, StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries); foreach (string s in splitStr) foreach (string l in list) if (String.Compare(s, l, true) == 0) return true; return false; } Any help or ideas on how I could achieve this?

  • Find Date From Non Contiguous Ranges

    - by AGoodDisplayName
I am looking to find an best way to find a date from date ranges that may or may not be contiguous (I am trying to avoid a cursor, or a heavy function if possible). Lets say I have hotel guests that come and go (check in, check out). I want to find the date that a certain guest stayed their 45th night with us. The database we use records the data as so: Create Table #GuestLog( ClientId int, StartDate DateTime, EndDate DateTime) Here is some data Insert Into #GuestLog Values(1, '01/01/2010', '01/10/2010') Insert Into #GuestLog Values(1, '01/16/2010', '01/29/2010') Insert Into #GuestLog Values(1, '02/13/2010', '02/26/2010') Insert Into #GuestLog Values(1, '04/05/2010', '06/01/2010') Insert Into #GuestLog Values(1, '07/01/2010', '07/21/2010') So far I can only think of solutions that involve functions with temp tables and crazy stuff like that, I feel like I'm over thinking it. Thanks ahead of time.

But my goal here is the user inputs a year for example 2009, my first query will get all the sales made in 2009 to the same date it is was yesterday 12/23/2009, while the second query is getting 2009 totals up to dec 31 2009. I want the columns to be side by side not in one column

  • Calculate open timeslots given availability and existing appointments - by day

    - by Andre
Overview: I have a table which stores a persons "availability" for a current day, e.g. Mon - 8:00am - 11:30am Mon - 1:30pm - 6:00pm A second table stores appointments that this person already has for the same day, e.g. Mon - 8:30am - 11:00am Mon - 2:30pm - 4pm Desired result: Doing calculationsI'd like to have the following result - e.g. "this person has availability on the given day": Mon - 8:00am - 8:30am Mon - 11:00am - 11:30am Mon - 1:30pm - 2:30pm Mon - 4:00pm - 6:00pm Any ideas on how to calculate the output given the two inputs (e.g. availability, existing appointments) would be greatly appreciated. Preferably I'd use javascript on the client to do the calculating as I would believe that doing it within the DB (I'm using MSSQL) would be slow for many records, persons, etc. Hope this is enough information to illustrate the problem at hand - Many thanks in advance.

  • Choosing between a union and a boolean condition

    - by bread
    Does this require a UNION? SELECT vend_id, prod_id, prod_price FROM products WHERE prod_price <= 5 UNION SELECT vend_id, prod_id, prod_price FROM products WHERE vend_id IN (1001,1002); Or is it the same if you do it this way? SELECT vend_id, prod_id, prod_price FROM products WHERE prod_price <= 5 OR vend_id IN (1001,1002);

  • How do I choose a database?

    - by liamzebedee
I need a comparison table of some sort for database varieties (MySQL, SQLite etc.). I can't find one. My use case is, I am implementing storage of objects in a distributed hash table. I need a database solution that is: Fast for sorting Simplistic (no users, preferably no additional structures like multiple tables etc.) Concurrent (if possible) Multi-platform File based (not stored in memory primarily) Centralized I will be programming in Go. As I understand, I believe I need what is called a Document Orientated Database, because I am storing objects, identified by keys. EDIT: While I am implementing a DHT, I will also be storing metadata about the objects, such as access counts etc. It would also be preferable to have TLL (time to live)

  • Queue access to the database to avoid multiple cache items

    - by MikeJ
I have a music related ASP.NET web site which caches a lot of static information from the database on the first request. Sometimes, the application is reset and cache is cleared while the application is on heavy load and then all http requests go to the database to retrieve that static data and cache it for other requests. How can I ensure that only one request go to the database and cache the results, so that other request simply read that info from cache and not needlessly retrieve the same info over and over again. Can I use thread locking? For example, can I do something like lock(this) { db access here }?

  • How to check with PHP does a SQL database already have

    - by Dan Horvat
I've tried to find the answer to this question but none of the answers fit. I have two databases, one has 15.000.000 entries and I want to extract the necessary data and store it in a much smaller database with around 33.000 entries. Both databases are open at the same time. Or at least they should be. While having the big database open and extracting the entries from it, is it possible to check whether the value already exists in the smaller database? I just need some generic way which checks that.

  • How do I drop a foerign key in mssql?

    - by mmattax
I have created a foreign key (in mssql / tsql) by: alter table company add CountryID varchar(3); alter table company add constraint Company_CountryID_FK foreign key(CountryID) references Country; I then run this query: alter table company drop column CountryID; and I get this error: Msg 5074, Level 16, State 4, Line 2 The object 'Company_CountryID_FK' is dependent on column 'CountryID'. Msg 4922, Level 16, State 9, Line 2 ALTER TABLE DROP COLUMN CountryID failed because one or more objects access this column. I have tried this, yet it does not seem to work: alter table company drop foreign key Company_CountryID_FK; alter table company drop column CountryID; What do I need to do to drop the CountryID column? Thanks.

  • SQLParameter not working properly

This is my code to call the procedure. SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("getbug", cn); cmd.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("bugID", bugID)); bugID is set as 1089 (and is type int) I can't figure out why this won't work.

  • What does DataContext.GetTable<TEntry> do?

    - by Bryan
Consider I have a DataContext db, and there is an Entity class User. So when System.Data.Linq.Table<User> table = db.GetTable<User>(); is called for the first time, does it pull the data from the database immediately, does it use deferred execution, or were the data already loaded from database when db was initialized?

  • jpa join query on a subclass

    - by Brian
I have the following relationships in JPA (hibernate). Object X has two subclasses, Y and Z. Object A has a manyToOne relationship to object X. (Note, this is a one-sided relationship so object X cannot see object A). Now, I want to get the max value of a column in object A, but only where the relationship is of a specific subtype, ie...Y. So, that equates to...get the max value of column1 in object A, across all instances of A where they have a relationship with Y. Is this possible? I'm a bit lost as how to query it. I was thinking of something like: String query = "SELECT MAX(a.columnName) FROM A a join a.x; Query query = super.entityManager.createQuery(query); query.execute(); However that doesn't take account of the subclass of X...so I'm a bit lost. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Query a recordset

    - by Dion
    I'm trying to work out how to move the $sql_pay_det query outside of the $sql_pay loop (so in effect query on $rs_pay_det rather than creating a new $rs_pay_det for each iteration of the loop) At the moment my code looks like: //Get payroll transactions $sql_pay = 'SELECT Field1, DescriptionandURLlink, Field5, Amount, Field4, PeriodName FROM tblgltransactionspayroll WHERE CostCentreCode = "'.$cc.'" AND SubjectiveCode = "'.$subj.'" AND PeriodNo = "'.$month.'"'; $rs_pay = mysql_query($sql_pay); $row_pay = mysql_fetch_assoc($rs_pay); while($row_pay = mysql_fetch_array($rs_pay)) { $employee_name = $row_pay['Field1']; $assign_no = $row_pay['DescriptionandURLlink']; $pay_period = $row_pay['Field5']; $mth_name = $row_pay['PeriodName']; $amount = $row_pay['Amount']; $total_amount = $total_amount + $amount; $amount = my_number_format($amount, 2, ".", ","); $sql_pay_det = 'SELECT ElementDesc, Amount, WTEWorked, WTEPaid, WTEContract, Payscale FROM tblpayrolldetail WHERE CostCentreCode = "'.$cc.'" AND SubjectiveCode = "'.$subj.'" AND AccountingPeriod = "'.$mth_name.'" AND EmployeeRef = "'.$assign_no.'"'; $rs_pay_det = mysql_query($sql_pay_det); $row_pay_det = mysql_fetch_assoc($rs_pay_det); while($row_pay_det = mysql_fetch_array($rs_pay_det)) { $element_det = $row_pay_det['ElementDesc']; $amount_det = $row_pay_det['Amount']; $wte_worked = $row_pay_det['WTEWorked']; $wte_paid = $row_pay_det['WTEPaid']; $wte_cont = $row_pay_det['WTEContract']; $payscale = $row_pay_det['Payscale']; //Get band/point and annual salary where element is basic pay if ($element_det =="3959#Basic Pay"){ $sql_payscale = 'SELECT txtPayscaleName, Salary FROM tblpayscalemapping WHERE txtPayscale = "'.$payscale.'"'; $rs_payscale = mysql_query($sql_payscale); $row_payscale = mysql_fetch_assoc($rs_payscale); $grade = $row_payscale['txtPayscaleName']; $salary = "£" . my_number_format($row_payscale['Salary'], 0, ".", ","); } } } I've tried doing this: //Get payroll transactions $sql_pay = 'SELECT Field1, DescriptionandURLlink, Field5, Amount, Field4, PeriodName FROM tblgltransactionspayroll WHERE CostCentreCode = "'.$cc.'" AND SubjectiveCode = "'.$subj.'" AND PeriodNo = "'.$month.'"'; $rs_pay = mysql_query($sql_pay); $row_pay = mysql_fetch_assoc($rs_pay); //Get payroll detail recordset $sql_pay_det = 'SELECT ElementDesc, Amount, WTEWorked, WTEPaid, WTEContract, Payscale, EmployeeRef FROM tblpayrolldetail WHERE CostCentreCode = "'.$cc.'"
