• Make Custom Project template in Eclipse IDE

  I have been using Eclipse IDE for a long time. Its a really great IDE for Java/C/C++ (and other languages with its THOUSANDS of plugins). Every once in a while, I get the need for creating a Javax interface. To do this normally, I would setup the new java project then add what I need. But, wouldn't it be nice if I could just make a template project to automatically include the code for the files. How would I go about doing this? It it even possible? The Eclipse CDT can make a new project type. So can the Google ADT and Google App engine. So I would imagine it is possible. But how?

• wxWidgets: How to initialize wxApp without using macros and without entering the main application l

  We need to write unit tests for a wxWidgets application using Google Test Framework. The problem is that wxWidgets uses the macro IMPLEMENT_APP(MyApp) to initialize and enter the application main loop. This macro creates several functions including int main(). The google test framework also uses macro definitions for each test. One of the problems is that it is not possible to call the wxWidgets macro from within the test macro, because the first one creates functions.. So, we found that we could replace the macro with the following code: wxApp* pApp = new MyApp(); wxApp::SetInstance(pApp); wxEntry(argc, argv); That's a good replacement, but wxEntry() call enters the original application loop. If we don't call wxEntry() there are still some parts of the application not initialized. The question is how to initialize everything required for a wxApp to run, without actually running it, so we are able to unit test portions of it?

Very often this ends up being Fusion Goals & Performance, Talent, Compensation or Benefits, often with Taleo for recruiting. The implementation picture looks like what you see below: Here, you can see that all the “downstream integrations” from the On-Premise Core HR, are unaffected because the master for employee data is still your On-Premise Core HR system – all updates and new hires are made here (although they may be fed in from Taleo to start with). As a second phase when customers migrate Core HR to Fusion HCM, they have to come up with a strategy to manage integrations to all their downstream applications that require employee details. For customers coming from EBS HR, a short term strategy that allows for minimal impact, is to extract employee data from Fusion (Via HCM Extract), and load the shared EBS HR tables (which are part of an EBS Financials install anyways), and let your downstream integrations continue to function based on this data as shown below. If you are not coming from EBS HR and there are license implications, you may want to consider: Creating an On-Premise warehouse for extracting data from Fusion Apps. Leveraging Fusion Apps Web Services (available to SaaS customers starting R7) to directly retrieve/write data to Fusion Apps. Integration Tools File Based Loader This is the primary mechanism for loading HCM data (both initial load and incremental updates) into Fusion HCM. Employee & related data can be uploaded into Fusion HCM using File Based Loader. Note that ability to schedule File Based Loader to run on a pre-defined schedule will be available as a patch on top of Rel 5. Hr2Hr has been deprecated in favor of File Based Loader, but for existing customers using Hr2Hr, here are some sample scripts that show how to get more informative error messages. They can be run by creating data model sql queries in BI Publisher. The scripts currently have hard coded values for request id and loader batch id, which your developer will need to update to the correct values for you. The BI Publisher Training Session recorded on Apr 18th is available here (under "Recordings"). This will enable a somewhat technical resource to create a data model sql query. • Notes on Oracle BPM PS6 Adaptive Case Management

I had put together some notes to help me gain a better understanding of the context of the PS6 BPM Case Management. Hopefully, this along with the other resources will enable you to gain a clear picture of the flexibility of this feature. Oracle BPM PS6 release includes Case Management capability. This initial release aims to provide: Case Management Framework Integration of Case Management with BPM & SOA suite It is best to regard the current PS6 case management feature as a case management framework. The framework provides the building blocks for creating a case management system that is fully integrated into Oracle BPM suite. As of the current PS6 release, no UI tooling exists to help manage cases or the case lifecycle. Mark Foster has written a good blog which outlines Case Management within PS6 in the following link. I wanted to provide more context on Case Management from my perspective in this blog. PS6 Case Management - High level View BPM PS6 includes “Case” as a first class component in a SOA Suite composite. The Case components (added to the SOA Composite) are created when a BPM process is assigned to a case in JDveloper. The SOA Case component is defined and configured within JDevloper, which allows us to specify the case data structures and metadata such as stakeholders, outcomes, milestones, document stores etc. "Activities" are associated with a case, and become available to be executed via the case apis. Activities are BPM processes, Human Activities or Java call outs. The PS6 release includes some additional database tables to store the case metadata and case instance data (data object, comments, etc…). These new tables are created within the SOA_INFRA schema and the documents associated with that case into a document repository that is configured with the case. One of the main features of Case Management is the control of the case logic through case events and case business rules. A PS6 Case has an associated business rule component, which can be configured to control the availability and execution of activities within the case. The business rules component is able to act upon events that the PS6 Case Management framework generates during the lifecycle of that case. Events are fired during the lifetime of the case (e.g. Case created, activity started, activity ended, note added, document uploaded.) Internal Case state The internal state of a case is represented by the diagram below. This shows the internal states and the transition paths for a Case from one state to the next Each transition in state will create an event that can be enacted upon via the Case rules engine. The internal case state lifecycle is defined as follows Defining a case A Case is created and defined as a component of a JDeveloper BPM project. When you create a Case as part of a BPM project, JDeveloper, creates the following components within the SCA composite: Case component Case component interfaces (WSDL etc) Case Rules component (Oracle Business Rules) Adds the Case Component and Case Rules Component to the BPM SOA composite Case Configuration The following section gives a high level overview of the items that can be configured for a BPM Case. Case Activities A Case is associated with a set of activities that are to be performed as part of that Case. Case activities can be: SOA Human Tasks BPM processes Custom Task (Java Class) Case activities are created from pre-existing BPM process or human tasks, which, once defined, can be configured additionally as Case activities in JDeveloper and made available within the lifecycle of a case. I've described the following configurable components of a case (very!) briefly as: Milestones Milestones are (optional) user defined logical milestones that can be achieved within a case. No activities are associates with a milestone, but milestone attainment can be programmatically set and events raised when milestones are reached Outcomes User defined status of a completed case. An event is fired when an outcome is attained. Case Data Defines the data that will be stored with a case XML schemas define the data that is stored with the case. Case Documents Defines the location of documents that are attached to a case (e.g. WebCenter Content) User Defined Events Optional user defined events that can be fired or captured to drive case processing rules Stakeholders Defines the actors who can participate in the case (roles, users, groups) Defines permissions for individual case permissions (read case, create document etc…) Business Rules Business rules are the main component controlling the flow of a Case Each case has an associated business ruleset Rules are fired on receiving Case events (or User defined events) Life cycle events Milestone events Activity events Data events Document events Comment events User event Managing the Case Managing the lifecycle of a case is achieved in two ways: Managing case logic with Business Rules Managing the case lifecycle via the Case APIs. A BPM Case can be viewed as a set of case data & documents along with the activities that can be performed within a case and also the case lifecycle state expressed as milestones and internal lifecycle state. The management of the case life is achieved though both the configuration of business rules and the “manual” interaction with a case instance through the Case APIs. Business Rules and Case Events A key component within the Case management framework is the event model. The BPM Case Management solution internally utilizes Oracle EDN (Event Delivery Network) to publish and subscribe to events generated by the Case framework. Events are generated by the Case framework on each of the processes and stages that a case instance will travel on its lifetime. The following case events are part of the BPM Case: Life cycle events Milestone events Activity events Data events Document events Comment events User event The Case business rules are configured to listen for these events, and business logic can be coded into the Case rules component to enact upon an event being received. Case API & Interaction Along with the business rules component, Cases can be managed via the Case API interfaces. These interfaces allow for the building of custom applications to integrate into case management framework. The API’s allow for updating case comments & documents, executing case activities, updating milestones etc. As there is no in built case management UI functions within the PS6 release, Cases need to be managed via a custom built UI, interacting with selected case instances, launching case activities, closing cases etc. (There is expected to be a UI component within subsequent releases) Logical Case Flow The diagram below is intended to depict a logical view of the case steps for a typical case. A UI or other service calls the Case interface to create a Case instance The case instance is created & database data inserted A lifecycle event is raised indicating a case activity (created) event The case business rules capture the event and decide on an action to take Additionally other parties can subscribe to Case events via EDN The business rules may handle the event, e.g. configured to execute a case activity on case creation event The BPM/Human Workflow/Custom activity is executed A case activity event is raised on the execute activity A case work UI or business service can inspect the case instance and call other actions to progress that case, such as: Execute activity Add Note Add document Add case data Update Milestone Raise user defined event Suspend case Resume case Close Case Summary Having had a little time to play around with the APIs and the case configuration, I really like the flexibility and power of combining Oracle Business Rules and the BPM Case Management event model. Creating something this flexible and powerful without BPM Case Management would take a lot of time and effort. This is hopefully going to save my customers a lot of time and effort! I may make amendments to this post as my understanding of Case Management increases! • Yet another ADF book - Oracle ADF Real World Developer’s Guide

  I'm happy to report that the number of ADF published books is expanding yet again, with this time Oracle's own Jobinesh Purushothaman publishing the Oracle ADF Real World Developer’s Guide.  I can remember the dim dark days when there was but just 1 Oracle book besides the documentation, so today it's great to have what I think might be the 7 or 8th ADF book publicly available, and not to forgot all our other technical docs too. Jobinesh has even published some extra chapters online that will give you a good taste of what to expect.  If you're interested in positive reviews, the ADF EMG already has it's first happy customer. Now to see if I can get Oracle to expense me a copy.

  Hello, this is my first post. I hope someone could help me. I'm looking for a way to define a widget in UiBinder XML layout file separately, without being part of the layout hierachy. Here's a small example: <ui:UiBinder xmlns:ui="urn:ui:com.google.gwt.uibinder" xmlns:g="urn:import:com.google.gwt.user.client.ui"> <g:Label ui:field="testlabel" text="Hallo" /> <g:HTMLPanel> ... </g:HTMLPanel> The compile fails since the ui:UiBinder element expects only one child element. In Java Code i will access and bind the Label widget as usual: @UiField Label testlabel; For example, this could be useful when you define a Grid or FlexTable - i want to define the Labels for the table header within the XML layout file, not programmatically within the code. • How to implement SAML SSO

  How is SAML SSO typically implemented? I've read this about using SAML with Google Apps, and the wikipedia entry on SAML. The wikipedia entry talks about responding with forms containing details of the SAMLRequest and SAMLResponse. Does this mean that the user has to physically submit the form in order to proceed with the single sign on? The google entry talks about using redirects, which seems more seemless to me. However, it also talks about using a form for the response which the user must submit (although it does talk about using JavaScript to automatically submit the form). Is this the standard way of doing this? Using redirects and JavaScript for form submission? Does anyone know of any other good resources about how to go about implementing SSO between a Windows Domain and a J2EE web application. The web application is on a separate network/domain. My client wants to use CA Siteminder (with SAML).

• How to geocoding big number of addresses?

  I need to geocode, i.e. translate street address to latitude,longitude for ~8,000 street addresses. I am using both Yahoo and Google geocoding engines at http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/geocoder/, and found out that for a big number of addresses those engines (one of them or both) either could not perform geocoding (i.e.return latitude=0,longitude=0), or return wrong coordinates (incl. cases when Yahoo and Google give different results). What is the best way to handle this problem? Which engine is (usually) more accurate? I would appreciate any thoughts, suggestions, ideas from people who had previous experience with this kind of task.

  Hi, all! A few colleagues and I created a simple packet capturing application based on libpcap, GTK+ and sqlite as a project for a Networks Engineering course at our university. While it (mostly) works, I am trying to improve my programming skills and would appreciate it if members of the community could look at what we've put together. Is this a good place to ask for such a review? If not, what are good sites I can throw this question up on? The source code is hosted by Google Code (http://code.google.com/p/nbfm-sniffer) and an executable is available for download (Windows only, though it does compile on Linux and should compile on OS X Leopard as well provided one has gtk+ SDK installed).   I'm new in both javascript and V8. According to Google's Embedder's Guide, I saw something in the context section talking about built-in utility javascript functions. And I also found some .js files(e.g. math.js) in the downloaded source code, so I tried to write a simple program to call functions in these files, but I failed. Does a context created by Persistent<Context> context = Context::New() have any built-in js functions? How can I access them? Is there a way to first import existing js files as a library(something like src="xxx" type="text/javascript" in HTML page) and then run my own execute script? Can I call google maps api through the embedded V8 library in app? How?

This is a capture tool that records your actions as you perform them on your workstation, remote desktop, etc.  It's made by the same company that makes SnagIt, etc. http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp I have used this at several customers to record our install and configurations of BizTalk and more - this can come in very handy to help reduce differences in environments (because you can go back and review exactly what you did in the previous environment) as well as to supplement your installation docs.   The product also includes an editing studio and various media types for export. I haven't been paid to write this - I just think the tool is very nice.

  This is JavaScript regex. regex = /(http:\/\/[^\s]*)/g; text = "I have http://hibernate.sourceforge.net/hibernate-mapping-3.0.dtd and I like http://google.com a lot"; matches = text.match(regex); console.log(matches); I get both the urls in the result. However I want to eliminate all the urls ending with .dtd . How do I do that? Note that I am saying ending with .dtd should be removed. It means a url like http://a.dtd.google.com should pass .

  Hi all I am trying to follow the Android mapping tutorial and got to this part where I had to get an API key http://code.google.com/android/add-ons/google-apis/mapkey.html#getdebugfingerprint I have found my debug.keystore but there does not appear to be a keytool application in the directory: C:\Documents and Settings\tward\.androidls adb_usb.ini avd debug.keystore repositories.cfg androidtool.cfg ddms.cfg default.keyset There is also no keytool in this directory: C:\Android\android-sdk-windows\toolsls AdbWinApi.dll apkbuilder.bat etc1tool.exe mksdcard.exe AdbWinUsbApi.dll ddms.bat fastboot.exe source.properties Jet dmtracedump.exe hierarchyviewer.bat sqlite3.exe NOTICE.txt draw9patch.bat hprof-conv.exe traceview.bat adb.exe emulator.exe layoutopt.bat zipalign.exe android.bat emulator_NOTICE.txt lib I am using eclipse as my editor and believe that I have downloaded all the latest SDK What am I doing wrong? • Correct install of Android SDK, ADT with Eclipse 3.6.1

  Following the posted instructions for Eclipse 3.6.1 Classic and Android SDK, ADT (where OS 2.3 is the most current) misses a few steps. Everything seems to work up until the point of loading the ADT in Eclipse. Prior to doing this add the following dependency sites to the list and enable them so that the ADT installer will pickup all the dependencies (thanks MissKaho for the concise list). • Horizontal "tab"ish scroll between views

  I'm interested in creating a horizontal scroll view that "snaps" to the viewed item, so only one item is ever shown at a time. The user can touch-drag left/right and will see previous/next views, switching to it if there's enough velocity. This interaction is exactly like what the new weather/news widget that comes with the Nexus One does for navigating between its "tabs". Are there any existing view widgets that do this? Update: found a copy of the news/weather widget (GenieWidget) and they seem to have implemented their own widget to accomplish this which they call com.google.android.apps.genie.geniewidget.ui.FlingableLinearLayout which is part of their own custom com.google.android.apps.genie.geniewidget.ui.TabView. As that source isn't available, that's not looking too hopeful a direction.

  I'm following the Nagios Ubuntu quickstart instructions. I'm on Ubuntu 10.10 and installing Nagios 3.2.3. At the bottom of the docs it says I need to install the mailx and postfix packages. (Postfix is already installed.) But when I try to install mailx, I get asked which of 3 packages to install: $ sudo apt-get install mailx [sudo] password for nagios: Reading package lists... • C# Stream Reader adding \n to XML

  I use the StreamReader class to obtain XML for my GeoCoding process from Google. StreamReader srGeoCode = new StreamReader(WebRequest.Create(Url).GetResponse().GetResponseStream()); String GeoCodeXml = srGeoCode.ReadToEnd(); XmlDocument XmlDoc = new XmlDocument(); GeoCode oGeoCode = new GeoCode(); XmlDoc.Load(GeoCodeXml); I get XML back but it adds \n and other extras to the XML <?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" ?>\n<kml xmlns=\"http://earth.google.com/kml/2.0\"><Response>\n <name> I have the same code in VB and it does not do this. I can successfully GeoCode my information using the VB version of this console app. Is there a reason the C# version adds this extra data to the XML that I retrieve back? I am trying my best to convert everything over to C#. I enjoy coding in it over VB.

  Where do you have the most success getting your ArcGIS development questions answered? ESRI forums? Stack Overflow? Google? Mailing lists? Blog posts? ESRI documentation? I can usually get answers to my ASP.NET/Oracle/JavaScript/C# questions in short order, but questions about ESRI products and APIs are a different matter. Posts founder in the forums, Google returns void, etc. I'm sure this is not uncommon for niche commercial products, but frustrating nevertheless. What works for you? Please share.

Its a great device, but I don't like how Sprint and HTC got replaced all of the native apps that were added on after 2.0 such as Gallery. The Gallery app on the phone uses flickr and facebook connect. I want to sync my Picasa albums. How can i get put the true Google applications on this device?
