• Problems compiling peazip on OSX

  I'm having some problems with compiling Peazip on OSX (10.6). I emailed the Peazip developer and he said he probably couldn't help me too much as the error seems to be OSX specific and he doesn't have access to an OSX machine any more. The compiler I'm using is Lazarus as the source is in Pascal. The actual compile process seems to go ok, but when I run the peazip.app program launcher, I get the following error: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/thegooddale/Screen-shot-2010-05-22-at-71907-PM.png Here is the app launcher that the compile made: http://forboden.com/coding/peazip.app.zip - you can use an unzip program to look at the files inside (i.e. unzip it twice). • Sql Query - Selecting rows where user can be both friend and user

  Hey Sorry the title is not very clear. This is a follow up to my earlier question where one of the members helped me with a query. I have a following friends Table Friend friend_id - primary key user_id user_id_friend status The way the table is populated is - when I send a friend request to John - my userID appears in user_id and Johns userID appears in user_id_friend. Now another scenario is say Mike sends me a friend request - in this case mike's userID will appear in user_id and my userID will appear in user_id_friend So to find all my friends - I need to run a query to find where my userID appears in both user_id column as well as user_id_friend column What I am trying to do now is - when I search for user say John - I want all users Johns listed on my site to show up along with the status of whether they are my friend or not and if they are not - then show a "Add Friend" button. Based on the previous post - I got this query which does part of the job - My example user_id is 1: SELECT u.user_id, f.status FROM user u LEFT OUTER JOIN friend f ON f.user_id = u.user_id and f.user_id_friend = 1 where u.name like '%' So this only shows users with whom I am friends where they have sent me request ie my userID appears in user_id_friend. Although I am friends with others (where my userID appears in user_id column) - this query will return that as null To get those I need another query like this SELECT u.user_id, f.status FROM user u LEFT OUTER JOIN friend f ON f.user_id_friend = u.user_id and f.user_id = 1 where u.name like '%' So how do I combine these queries to return 1 set of users and what my friendship status with them is. • How to secure Add child record functionality in MVC on Parent's view?

  I'm trying to avoid some potential security issues as I expose some a new set of functionality into the real world. This is basically functionality that will allow for a new comment to be added via a partialview on the "Parent" page. My comment needs to know a couple of things, first what record is the comment for and secondly who is making the comment. I really don't like using a hidden field to store the ID for the Parent record in the add comment form as that can be easily changed with some DOM mods. How should I handle this? • REST tools support for development and testing

  There is a similar question here but it only covers some of the issues below. We have a client who requires web services using REST. We have tons of experience using SOAP and over time have gathered together a really good set of tools for SOAP development and testing e.g. soapUI Eclipse plugins wsdl2java WSStudio By "tools" I mean a product "out of the box" that we can start using. I'm not talking about cutting code to "roll our own" using Ajax or whatever. The tool set for REST doesn't seem to be nearly as mature? What tools are out there (we use C# and Java mainly) ? Do the tools handle GET, POST, PUT, and DELETE? Is there a decent Eclipse plugin? Is there a decent client testing application like WSStudio where you point the tool to the WSDL and it generates a proxy on the fly with the appropriate methods and inputs and you simple type the data in? Are there any good package monitoring tools that allow you to look at the data? (I'm not thinking about sniffers like Wireshark here but rather things like soapUI that allow you to see the request / response) ?

• Using jstl tags in a dynamically created div

  I want to be able to show some data based on criteria the user enters in a text field. I can easily take this data, process the form post, and show the data on another page. However, I want to be able to do it all on the same page - they click the button, and a new div shows up with the information. This doesn't seem too complicated, but I want to use jstl tags to format the data like: <c:forEach items="${model.data}" var="d"> <tr> <td><fmt:formatDate type="date" dateStyle="short" timeStyle="default" value="${d.reportDate}" /></td> <td><c:out value="${d.cardType}"/></td> </tr> </c:forEach> If jstl tags are processed when the page loads, can I use that in this new div? Can I update it via a javascript (using prototype) function to display the proper data? Will I be able to do the same thing if they change the criteria and click the submit button again?

• Modify Wordpress SQL Query to pull from within a category

  Hi I am using a wordpress plugin called "kf most read" which stores a count of how many times a post was read, and lets you output a list of most read posts. This works well. The issue is, I am trying to pull the most read posts, but only the most read posts within the current category you are viewing. I am close to clueless when it comes to sql. Here us what the plugin is currently using to pull the most read posts: $sql = "SELECT count(mr.post_ID) as totHits, p.ID, p.post_title from $wpdb-posts p JOIN {$wpdb-prefix}kf_most_read mr on mr.post_ID = p.ID where mr.hit_ts = '".(time() - ( 86400 * $period))."' I've tried several variations, but I seem unable to get the correct join syntax. Is this simply a case of a query that is too complicated for LINQ? Can it be done using nested queries some how? The purpose of the query is to find the most recently updated posts i.e. replying to a post would bump it to the top of the list. Replies are defined by the ParentID column, which is self-referencing.

• Oracle XMLDB's XMLCAST and XMLQUERY incompatible with iBatis?

  I've been trying to select a list of values from XMLs stored in an XMLType column but I keep getting the errors which are listed at the tail end of this post. • jquery Ajax call resulting in Undefined Error in Firefox

  Hi I've been pulling my hair out for the last few hours with this problem. And the googling has been hampered by the very vagueness of this. So let me apologise for that first. Basically I'm using jquery and ajax (with C#) to return data from the backend and display that to the screen. The code works perfectly for firefox and IE. But when the data gets too large (??) (1500+ table rows) all I get is an undefined popup. Debugging in firefox (3.6) it doesn't even go into the success method. Worse still it doesn't even go into the error method. A lot of superfluous information there, but I'd rather show everything I'm doing. • Blueprint CSS and Separation of Presentation and Content When Designing Forms

  Is it possible to use Blueprint CSS and maintain a a respectable level of separation between presentation and content? I like how easy the framework is to use when designing forms, but am worried that the manner in which I use the css classes for columnizing elements is a bad practice. • SCM for Xcode?

  I am developing an application for the Mac as a small team (me + another person) effort. We are located in different cities, and have started to see the need for solid source control management. None of us have any experience with this, and both of us are relatively new to Cocoa/Obj-C/Xcode (but do have C knowledge). Does anyone have any recommendations as to which SCM system to choose? I understand that a lot of people are using Subversion, which is also supported in Xcode 3.1. Does anyone have experience with using Subversion through Xcode? Or is it a better option to chose a stand alone GUI alternative, such as Versions? Grateful for any input on this. Gregor Tomasevic, Sweden Update/personal experiences: Since this post, we have tried Versions and Cornerstone (both of which are SVN GUI-clients), as well as Xcodes built-in support for SVN. We were not particularly pleased with Versions, which seemed to have some problems with committing unversioned files/build files. The built-in SVN support in Xcode works quite well, although it probably has limitations that we have still not run into. Cornerstone is both simple to use and powerful, and does not seem to suffer from the problems we encountered with Versions. So far, we have just tried committing, updating repo, checking out latest/previous versions of our files and worked some with file comparison. It might be a whole different ball game once you start working extensively with branching, an area which we have been told both these GUI clients might have some weaknesses in. For what it's worth (and with only days of evaluation) Cornerstone seems to be a somewhat better alternative, although for simpler SCM, Xcode works well too. Thanks for all the comments.

• WPF resource merged to Application.Resources but not resolved at runtime

  I have a brush that is part of a ResourceDictionary that is merged to Application.Resources. But for some reason it's not resolved at runtime when a style is being applied to one of the controls. However, if I call Application.Current.FindResource("BrushName") from the Immediate Window at the time when exception is thrown, the resource is found. Am I missing something? Isn't WPF supposed to try to look for the resource in the app's resources? • Writing files in App_Data causes tempdata to be null

  I have a small asp.net MVC 1 web app that can store files and create directories in the App_Data directory. When the write operation succeeds, I add a message to the tempdata and do a redirectToRoute. The problem is that the tempdata is null when the action is executed. If i write the files in a directory outside of the web applications root directory, the tempdata is not null and everything works correctly. Any ideas why writing in the app_data seems to clear the tempdata ? edit: if DRS.Logic.Repository.Manager.CreateFile(path, hpf, comment) writes in the App_Data, TempData will be null in the action being redirected to. if it is a directory out of the web app root it is fine. No exceptions are being thrown. • Websphere 7 EntityManagerFactory creation problem

  Hello, I'm working on a maven project which uses seam 2.2.0, hibernate 3.5.0-CR-2 as JPA provider, DB2 as database server and Websphere 7 as application server. Now I'm facing de following problem: In my EJBs that are seen also as SEAM components I want to use the EntityManager from EJB container (@PersistenceContext private EntityManager em) not Seam's EntityManager (@In private EntityManager em). But this is the problem, I cannot obtain an EntityManager using @PersistenceContext. On server logs it sais that it cannot create an EntityManagerFactory and gets a ClassCastException: java.lang.ClassCastException: org.hibernate.ejb.HibernatePersistence incompatible with javax.persistence.spi.PersistenceProvider After a lot of debugging and searching on forums I'm assuming that the problem is that Websphere doesn't use the Hibernate JPA provider. Has anyone faced this problem and has a solution? I configured already WAS class loader order for my application to load the classes with the application class loader first and I\ve packed all necessary jars in application ear as written in: WAS InfoCenter: Features for EJB 3.0 development . If necessary I'll post my persistence.xml, components.xml files and stack trace. • MS SQL Database with clustered GUID PKs - switch clustered index or switch to sequential (comb) GUID

  We have a database in which all the PKs are GUIDs, and most of the PKs are also the clustered index for the table. We know that this is bad (due to the random nature of GUIDs). So, it seems there are basically two options here (short of throwing out GUIDs as PKs altogether, which we cannot do (at least not at this time)). We could change the GUID generation algorithm to e.g. the one that NHibernate uses, as detailed in this post, or we could, for the tables that are under the heaviest use, change to a different clustered index, e.g. an IDENTITY column, and keep the "random" GUIDs as PKs. Is it possible to give any general recommendations in such a scenario? The application in question has 500+ tables, the largest one presently at about 1,5 million rows, a few tables around 500 000 rows, and the rest significantly lower (most of them well below 10K). Furthermore, the application is installed at several customer sites already, so we have to take any possible negative effects for existing customer into consideration. Thanks!

• Iphone application crashes when poping to rootController of UITabBar tab

  Hello, I'm having this bug I can't figure out and it is making my head hurt. So, basically, in my iphone application I have UITabBar with some tabs each having UINavigationControllers inside. Something like this: someViewController *someController = [[someViewController alloc] myInit]; UINavigationController *someNav = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:someController]; tab = [[UITabBarController alloc] init]; tab.viewControllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:otherNav, otherNav, evilNav, nil]; [window addSubview:tab.view]; So to reproduce my "precious" bug I go like this: click evilNav tab -> push tableListView (category list) -> push otherTableListView (category items list) -> push someOtherView (single item) -> popToRoot || popToController withindex:0 || click on evilNav tab again || pop to otherTableListView -> pop to tableListView -> crash (with no notable error) So if I go so far to someOtherView I can't go back to first tableListView (rootViewController) without application crashing. Meanwhile I can go to other tabs and then even click evilNav (when it is in otherTableListView or someOtherView state) without crashing. What could be causing this problem? (If you need I will post more code)

• BN_hex2bn magicaly segfaults in openSSL

  Greetings, this is my first post on stackoverflow, and i'm sorry if its a bit long. I'm trying to build a handshake protocol for my own project and am having issues with the server converting the clients RSA's public key to a Bignum. It works in my clent code, but the server segfaults when attempting to convert the hex value of the clients public RSA to a bignum. • Why does Facebook iOS dialog for feed publish disappear after login?

  I'm trying to use the Facebook iOS "feed" dialog call to allow my app's user to share something on their Facebook wall. When the facebook app is not installed, it attempts to let them authenticate within the app (presumably using a web view). The issue is that this dialog just disappears once they authenticate. I was expecting the web view to return to the "feed" sharing view. How do I detect that they authenticated so that I can re-open the feed dialog? I've added fbDidLogin to my app delegate, but it's not being called. (I wasn't sure if this would normally be called or not, but I read several people recommending this.)   I discovered that when setting the ConnectTimeoout property for a TIdHTTP component, it makes the requests (GET and POST) become about 120ms slower? Why is this, and can I avoid/bypass this somehow? Env: D2010 with shipped Indy components, all updates installed for D2010. OS is WinXP (32bit) SP3 with most patches... My timing routine is: Procedure DoGet; Var Freq,T1,T2 : Int64; Cli : TIdHTTP; S : String; begin QueryPerformanceFrequency(Freq); Try QueryPerformanceCounter(T1); Cli := TIdHTTP.Create( NIL ); Cli.ConnectTimeout := 1000; // without this we get < 15ms!! • custom httphandler in asp.net cannot get request querystring?

  i've been trying to get this to work. its basicly a way to have certain MVC pages work within a webforms cms (umbraco) someone tried it before me and had issues with MVC2.0 (see here), i read the post, did what was announced there, but with or without that code, i seem to get stuck on a different matter. it seems like, if i call an url, it fires the handler, but fails to request the querystring passed, the variable originalPath is always empty, for example i call this url: http://localhost:8080/mvc.ashx?mvcRoute=/home/RSVPForm the handler is supposed to get the mvcRoute but it is always empty. thus gets rewritten to a simple / and then returns resource cannot be found error. here is the code i use now public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext httpContext) { string originalPath = httpContext.Request.Path; string newPath = httpContext.Request.QueryString["mvcRoute"]; if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(newPath)) newPath = "/"; HttpContext.Current.RewritePath(newPath, false); IHttpHandler ih = (IHttpHandler)new MvcHttpHandler(); ih.ProcessRequest(httpContext); HttpContext.Current.RewritePath(originalPath, false); } i would like some new input on this as i'm staring myself blind on such a simple issue, while i thought i would have more problems with mvc itself :p Edit have no time to investigate, but after copying the site over to different locations, using numerous web.config changes (unrelated to this error but was figuring other things out) this error seems to have solved itself. so its no longer an issue, however i have no clue as to what exactly made this to work again.

• How to write an iphone application to control a device that exposes a telnet api

  Hi! I have to write an iphone application that controls a device. This device exposes a telnet based interface. The application should ideally have user access control and customizability for each user. I was thinking of writing C++ classes that would communicate with the device using sockets. This functionality can then be exposed through web-services that can be called by the iphone application. However as i looked into it deeper, the api allows you to register for events using telnet and then you can receive notification when those events occur. That kinda put a spanner in the works for me. I for one dont know a "push" scenario can work with webservices. First off i have never programmed for the iphone so far. So i am not really sure what can be done. So i was thinking if instead of having a webserver to go through, why not have the application independently running on the iphone, directly communicating with the device using sockets. The question though is, is that possible and second i am thinking it would raise a security aspect. First we could control security as everything was going through our central server. Is there a way to handle security (in the sense who has access to the device) without having a central server. I am sorry that this seems like an unorganized post, but iam trying to brainstorm here. • Internet Explorer 7 Bugs - incorrect display OR dead links

  Hi, I recently launched a website I have been developing over the past year - http://Live.heritageartpapers.co.uk/. My dad, who owns the company, had a phone call today saying it doesnt display properly in IE7. Bug #1: The header and footer are both in a div, whereas the content is in a table between the two divs. Reportedly the content (table) sometimes (not always, according to IETester) displays below the footer, but the footer still displays where it is supposed to (ie there is a massive gap where the content should fit). Bug #2: When the content does display in the correct place, all the links on the page are dead - click on them and nothing happens. As you can see if you view it in Firefox (the version I am using is 3.6), the links in the left hand menu turn orange on mouseover. However they do not even do this in IE7. Note that they do turn orange and do work if the content is displayed below the footer. I cant see why its happening - according to IETester, the IE7 interpreted source code has all the tags capitalised and many quotes removed (for example for the id attribute on most, if not all, tags) but I doubt this could cause the above bugs, could it? My question is whether anyone has ever seen any of these problems before, and/or has a solution to any of these problems?? I currently do not have the application open, but will post any relevant code in a few minutes. Alternatively just use view source. Many thanks in advance. Regards, Richard Clarke

  Hello, With the help of tucuxi from the existing post Java remove HTML from String without regular expressions I have built a method that will parse out any basic HTML tags from a string. Sometimes, however, the original string contains html hexadecimal characters like é (which is an accented e). I have started to add functionality which will translate these escaped characters into real characters. You're probably asking: Why not use regular expressions? Or a third party library? Unfortunately I cannot, as I am developing on a BlackBerry platform which does not support regular expressions and I have never been able to successfully add a third party library to my project. So, I have gotten to the point where any é is replaced with "e". My question now is, how do I add an actual 'accented e' to a string?
