• IIS6 - 301 permanent redirect response accessing an asp.net web site

  I've installed an ASP.NET 2.0 virtual directory application on the default web site in IIS6 (Windows 2003 computer) with a Visual Studio generated web deployment setup. Unfortunately, following a successfull installation, I'm unable to access our web site. I get a permanent redirect from IIS as shown in the log below : 2010-02-25 15:32:41 W3SVC1 127.0.0.1 GET /naweb3 - 80 - 127.0.0.1 Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+8.0;+Windows+NT+5.2;+Trident/4.0;+.NET+CLR+1.1.4322;+.NET+CLR+2.0.50727;+.NET+CLR+3.0.04506.30;+.NET+CLR+3.0.4506.2152;+.NET+CLR+3.5.30729) 301 0 0 This is the first time I have this kind of problem. Before I go with completely resetting IIS6 on this machine, I'm wondering what could cause this problem. The virtual directory configuration seems fine to me, no redirection at all at this level. Any help appreciated. TIA.

• SSIS Configuration error: Cannot retrieve configuration table schema

  I'm trying to add a simple configuration to a SSIS package, of type SQL Server, so stored in a table. At the end of the wizard, when it goes to try and write a new row to the nominated table to store the configuration it fails with the error: TITLE: Microsoft Visual Studio Could not complete wizard actions. Cannot retrieve configuration table schema. (Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.Wizards) I can't seem to resolve this. The configuration connection has full permissions on the table, and it sees it and can read from it as it reports there is no current data for the filter I provide. It just wont write to it. A Google search of the error message above in quotes returns literally no hits! Any suggestions? Glenn

• How do I surpress maven assembly plugin skipping files that are already added? Or allow overwrite?

  Hello, For weeks, I've been wrestling with maven, getting it to deploy our project "properly." I'm almost done but I have one stubborn little problem: When I use the maven assembly plugin with the "directory" goal as in mvn assembly:directory I get LOTS of console output like the following: [INFO] tomcat/conf already added, skipping  [INFO] tomcat/conf/Catalina already added, skipping  [INFO] tomcat/conf/Catalina/localhost already added, skipping  [INFO] tomcat/webapps already added, skipping I've written my own assembly descriptor that basically copies several FileSets into various sub-directories within our deploy directory. Messages like the ones above appear whenever a file from one FileSet is being copied to a location in which another FileSet has already created the basic directory structure (and some "default" files that can be overwritten). So, I'm having a hard time figuring out: How do I either 1) Suppress these messages (but only the "already added" messages) or 2) allow for overwrite?

• BeginAnimations and CommitAnimations with NavigationController.PushViewController

  I'm trying to get a basic flip animation transition working when I push a controller inside a navigation. The code below flips the view, however the view appears first (each element fades in), and then the flip occurs. Is it possible to do a flip animation with a UINavigationController? • iPhone Gameloop render update from a separate thread

  Hi, I'm new to iPhone development. I have a game loop setup as follows. (void)CreateGameTick:(NSTimeInterval) in_time { [NSThread detachNewThreadSelector:@selector(GameTick) toTarget:self withObject:nil]; } My basic game tick/render looks like this (void)GameTick { NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; CGRect wrect = [self bounds]; while( m_running ) { [self drawRect: wrect]; } [pool release]; } My render function gets called. However nothing gets drawn (I am using Core Graphics to draw some lines on a derived UIView). If I call my update via a timer then all is well and good. Can you tell me why the render fails when done via threads? And is it possible to make it work via threads? Thanks Rich

• JSON parser for J2ME

  I need a basic JSON parser that works with J2ME / CLDC 1.1. A Google search returns tons of answers on this (some even on stackoverflow), but it appears that all point to libraries and solutions that are no longer available (for example, lots point to an implementation that is supposed to be on the json.org site, but at least I can't find anything that isn't J2SE only there). My best hope so far is the source linked here: https://meapplicationdevelopers.dev.java.net/mobileajax.html, but from that one I can't even find a straight forward way to download the code. Given the mature state of Java in all other aspects, surely there must be somewhere I can get a pre-compiled JAR to use for parsing JSON from J2ME?

  I wonder if there is a way of concating two strings in Silverlight inside xaml file. I have a DataGrid where one of the columns is 'Default Contact' and I would like to represent data in there as first and last name. <sdk:DataGridTextColumn Header="Default Contact" Binding="{Binding Path=DefaultContact.FirstName}" /> I was thinking about something like: Binding="{Binding Path=DefaultContact.FirstName + " " + DefaultContact.LasttName}" But this doesn't work. I don't even know if this is possible to achieve. Seems like really basic thing so I hope it is supported in some way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Repository Pattern and Entity Framework.

  Hi people, I want to make an implementation with repository pattern with ASP.NET MVC 2 and Entity Framework but I have had some issues in the process. First of all, I have 2 entities that has a relationship between them, like Order and Product. When I generate my dbml file it gaves me a class Order with a property that map a "ProductSet" and one class Product with a property that map wich Order that Product relates itself. So I create my Repository pattern like IReporitory with the basic CRUD operations and inside my controllers I implement the ProductRepository or OrderRepository. The problem occurs when I try to create Product and have to assign my Order on it, like ProductOne.Order = _orderRepository.Find(orderId); That operation gave me some strange behavior and I can't find out what is wrong with it.   Yesterday I (a professional rugby prop of somewhat limited intellect) landed in http://htmlagilitypack.codeplex.com/ and found myself stranded in a town with no signposts. The locals don't need signposts - they know their way around - so who gives a hoot about visitors? Well I'm a visitor and I'm lost. Here's my plea to the good burgesses of Codeplex-sans-signs: HELP!! Let me back-track and explain what landed me at the bottom of this tangled ruck. There's a "Download" button positioned near the top-right of the Codeplex web page, right? Like the Sword of Damocles, a down-arrow to the left of the button indicates, presumably, what a download would include: CURRENT 1.4.0 Stable DATE Fri May 7 2010 at 7:00 AM STATUS Stable With a simple-minded confidence that has since deserted me (the confidence - not the simple-mindedness), I clicked "Download". This introduced 3 new files to my computer: HtmlAgilityPack.dll, HtmlAgilityPack.pdb, and HtmlAgilityPack.XML This is when the first stab of doubt penetrated that globe between my cauliflower ears that I call a head. Where's the dot cs? Somewhere in Codeplex, I'd read advice to another lost soul to "download and build the HTMLAgilityPack solution". As I've done so many times as an All Black prop, I glared at the opposition front row - ah, I mean the 3 new files. Shouldn't one of them have a ".cs" on the back of his jersey - er, on the end of its name? Or is this just how they play the game in Codeplex-sans-signs? Undaunted (props have more courage than sense) I packed into my first C# scrum. • Do I need afxres.h, if I am not using MFC? How do I remove it from the .RC script?

  I don't know RC scripts. I want to include Product version, File version, etc. metadata into a DLL I'm building. I'm using an .rc file to do that. The build is makefile driven. I'm following along with an example .rc scrpit I found. The template .rc file includes afxres.h , but I don't think I need that. But if I just remove it I get a bunch of compile errors. What does a basic, non-MFC RC script look like? • Change webserver used by Flex in FlexBuilder to .NET Framework 3.5

  I just had to reformat and reinstall Flex and reconstruct a project. The problem is i am using ASP.NET as my server side technology and using LINQ in my files. The version of WebDev.Webserver.exe that FlexBuilder starts up is the wrong version so I get this error : Compiler Error Message: CS0234: The type or namespace name 'Linq' does not exist in the namespace 'System' (are you missing an assembly reference?) Microsoft (R) Visual C# 2005 Compiler version 8.00.50727.3053 for Microsoft (R) Windows (R) 2005 Framework version 2.0.50727 Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation 2001-2005. All rights reserved. I know that changing to the latest version of ASP.NET / Framework will fix this - but I just can't figure out HOW to make that change in Flexbuilder.   Hey. I currently want to develop a simple program in Java that sends out email. Not just a few emails, but actually a lot (10k+) I have a subscribers list that all agree to it, by the way. Anyway, I cannot send these emails via Gmail or anything like that - They do not allow that many emails to be sent. So the basic question is: How do I send emails by making the actual sending computer an email server? I'm sure I should use some libraries, I heard about ChillKat or something like that.   I am using FB.ui with the display parameter set to popup. When the method is 'stream.publish', it autoresizes when the content is loaded. However, when using 'fbml.dialog' (in order to display a multi-friend selector) it shows a size that I'm not able to change (and the content is displayed cropped). I have tried with the following approaches, with no luck: FB.ui({ method: 'fbml.dialog', size: {width: 800, height: 500}, ... FB.ui({ method: 'fbml.dialog', width: 800, height: 500, ... Also I've been looking at the API source code, and it declares the method this way: Method declaration: 'fbml.dialog': { size : { width: 575, height: 300 }, url : 'render_fbml.php', loggedOutIframe : true }... • Using Image Source with big images in WPF

  I am working on an application that allows users to manipulate multiple images by using ItemsControl. I started running some tests and found that the app has problems displaying some big images - ie. it did not work with the high resolution (21600x10800), 20MB images from http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Features/BlueMarble/BlueMarble_monthlies.php, though it displays the 6200x6200, 60MB Hubble telescope image from http://zebu.uoregon.edu/hudf/hudf.jpg just fine. The original solution just specified an Image control with a Source property pointing at a file on a disk (through a binding). With the Blue Marble file - the image would just not show up. Now this could be just a bug hidden somewhere deep in the funky MVVM + XAML implementation - the visual tree displayed by Snoop goes like: Window/Border/AdornerDecorator/ContentPresenter/Grid/Canvas/UserControl/Border/ContentPresenter/Grid/Grid/Grid/Grid/Border/Grid/ContentPresenter/UserControl/UserControl/Border/ContentPresenter/Grid/Grid/Grid/Grid/Viewbox/ContainerVisual/UserControl/Border/ContentPresenter/Grid/Grid/ItemsControl/Border/ItemsPresenter/Canvas/ContentPresenter/Grid/Grid/ContentPresenter/Image... Now debug this! WPF can be crazy like that... Anyway, it turned out that if I create a simple WPF application - the images load just fine. I tried finding out the root cause, but I don't want to spend weeks on it. When you just specify a file path in Image.Source - the application actually uses less memory and works faster than if you use BitmapImage.DecodePixelWidth. Plus with Image.Source if you have multiple Image controls that point to the same image - they only use as much memory as if only one image was loaded. With the BitmapImage.DecodePixelWidth solution - each additional Image control uses more memory and each of them uses more than when just specifying Image.Source. Perhaps WPF somehow caches these images in compressed form while if you specify the decoded dimensions - it feels like you get an uncompressed image in memory, plus it takes 6 times the time (perhaps without it the scaling is done on the GPU?), plus it feels like the original high resolution image also gets loaded and takes up space. If I just scale the image down, save it to a temporary file and then use Image.Source to point at the file - it will probably work, but it will be pretty slow and it will require handling cleanup of the temporary file. If I could detect an image that does not get loaded properly - maybe I could only scale it down if I need to, but Image.ImageFailed never gets triggered. Maybe it has something to do with the video memory and this app just using more of it with the deep visual tree, opacity masks etc. Actual question: How can I load big images as quickly as Image.Source option does it, without using more memory for additional copies and additional memory for the scaled down image if I only need them at a certain resolution lower than original? Also, I don't want to keep them in memory if no Image control is using them anymore.

• Force Browser Mode=IE8 and document mode=IE8 Standards

  I have a internal website hosted on IIS. I added the following meta code and also add http-header that the page should in IE8 Browser mode and document mode. <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8" > We tested it on Visual Studio and and it works very well. However, after we publish the code to another IIS server, one developer reported that the page render in "IE8 Comatiblity" Browser Mode which causes some JavaScript to fail. There are more then 4 people working on the same windows server 2003 (RDP sessions). We use the same version of IE (same IE actually). Everyone get "IE8" Browser Mode but one person gets "IE8 Compatibility" Browser Mode. What else can make a specific user's IE load the page in a mode other than IE8 mode? PS. We checked the compatibility list in the IE; it is empty.

  I have a UITabBarController with a "More" tab whose color scheme I would like to modify. Navigation Controller Nav Bar Colors I've been able to change the background color of the "More" tab's UINavigationController by subclassing the UITabBarController and adding the following code to the ViewDidLoad method: UINavigationController *moreController = self.moreNavigationController; moreController.navigationBar.tintColor = [UIColor redColor]; I would also like to change the Nav controller's text color but have not been able to determine how to accomplish this. Table View Highlight Colors I'd like to disable or change the highlight color for the "More" tab's UITableView. I don't want to disable the ability to select, I just want to change or remove the blue highlight color. I see where I can change the SelectedTextColor property for a UITableViewCell's texLabel, but I'm unsure how or when this needs to be set given I'm not the table view's datasource. Edit View Nav Bar Color When the Edit button is selected, the nav bar at the top reverts to the basic blue color. Is there any way to access this nav bar to change its tint color?

File is expected at location: " + AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetupInformation.ConfigurationFile + "\n"); } When I build the app.config file in my solution is added to the output directory as AppName.exe.config, and if run from outside visual studio AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetupInformation.ConfigurationFile contains the path C:...\AppName.exe.config (from within VS it's C:..\AppName.vshost.exe.config). If I delete AppName.exe.config, the value is C:..\Appname.config (no .exe). I did a bit of farther experimentation, and if Appname.config exists that file will also work to load my setting values. What's going on here? I need to have everything consistent for error reporting purposes.

• WinForms TabControl: How to avoid tab-rendering on DrawMode=OwnerDrawFixed?

  I extended the (WindowsForms) built-in TabControl in order to implement closing tabs right on the tab itself ("x" image on the right like in Webbrowsers). The inherited control renders the text and images. Also, it uses visual styles on hover etc. All works very well, but I have one problem I can't solve. When the tabs are rendered, I cannot avoid that the Control paints the tabs another time as seen in this screenshot: That's a problem for two reasons: It looks ugly on the selected tab I'd like to increase the tabs' width because the current width doesn't take account of the "x" image on the right Any idea how to solve this?
