  Hi The major problem in .net programs is "How manage memory for best performance". so Microsoft use garbage collector in .net and with that, we don't need to do something for managing memory(or better say we can use GC easily) But when you develop big project(business app), you make too many tables and database for your own project. so if you use Linq-to-sql, we must build DataContext include hundred or more tables. That make problem for program when you create an object from datacontext, that object give big amount of memory. also we cant divide datacontext to datacontexts(cuz relation between tables) so "How manage datacontext and memory"?

• How to detect an overflow in C++ ?

  Hi, I just wonder if there is some convenient way to detect if overflow happens to any variable of any default data type used in a C++ program during runtime? By convenient, I mean no need to write code to follow each variable if it is in the range of its data type every time its value changes. Or if it is impossible to achieve this, how would you do? For example, float f1=FLT_MAX+1; cout << f1 << endl; doesn't give any error or warning in either compilation with "gcc -W -Wall" or running. Thanks and regards!

• Why is insertion into my tree faster on sorted input than random input?

  Now I've always heard binary search trees are faster to build from randomly selected data than ordered data, simply because ordered data requires explicit rebalancing to keep the tree height at a minimum. Recently I implemented an immutable treap, a special kind of binary search tree which uses randomization to keep itself relatively balanced. In contrast to what I expected, I found I can consistently build a treap about 2x faster and generally better balanced from ordered data than unordered data -- and I have no idea why. • Question regarding inheritance in wxWidgets.

  Currently I'm attempting to write my own wxObject, and I would like for the class to be based off of the wxTextCtrl class. Currently this is what I have: class CommandTextCtrl : public wxTextCtrl { public: void OnKey(wxKeyEvent& event); private: DECLARE_EVENT_TABLE() }; Then later on I have this line of code, which is doesn't like: CommandTextCtrl *ctrl = new CommandTextCtrl(panel, wxID_ANY, *placeholder, *origin, *size); ...and when I attempt to compile the program I receive this error: error: no matching function for call to ‘CommandTextCtrl::CommandTextCtrl(wxPanel*&, <anonymous enum>, const wxString&, const wxPoint&, const wxSize&)’ It seems that it doesn't inherit the constructor method with wxTextCtrl. Does anyone happen to know why it doesn't inherit the constructor? Thanks in advance for any help!

  Hi All, I have a msi created for a project which uses C# & Jscript. version-1.0 is currently public. I want to release a bug-fixed version v-1.0.1 of this package but while testing it, I am getting "Another version of this product is already installed Installation of this version cannot continue.To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove program on the Control Panel". I want this bug-fixed version to install silently without asking user to uninstall and install new one. Please help me how can I achieve this, I am using visual studio 2008. Thanks in Advance! Sam

  I am still fairly new to C# and I am trying to decide the best way to structure a new program. Here is what I want to do and I would like feed back on my idea. Presentation Layer Business Layer (Separate Class Library) Data Layer (Separate Class Library) Model Layer (Separate Class Library) What I am struggling with is if it is ok to have the classes in the Data Layer and Business Layer inherit from the types I define in Model Layer. This way I can extended the types as needed in my Business Layer with any new properties I see fit. I might not use every property from the Model type in my Business Layer class but is that really a big deal? If this isn't clear enough I can try and put together an example.

• Using Vim on the ipad... Any tips?

  I'm itching to program on my ipad. With the iSSH app I was able to log on to my university's server and even open an X server window. Unfortunately, the experience within iSSH is still rather clumsy. When using vim, the bottom line is hidden by the keyboard. Does anyone have any experience with SSH connections and the ipad or iphone? Are there better applications to use? I would prefer not to jailbreak my ipad.

  I'm using some custom tasks from MSBuild Extension Pack (MEP). My projects are splitted among many files. In those files I import the MEP tasks using (twice or three times in two/three files). I receive the warning message when doing this like: ... warning MSB4011: "C:\Program Files\MSBuild\ExtensionPack\MSBuild.ExtensionPack.tasks" cannot be imported again. It was already imported at "D:...\Tasker.proj (5,3)". This is most likely a build authoring error. This subsequent import will be ignored. Does anyone know how to get rid of this warning message? Please help!

In this Thread(Mehtod) I´m using the Dispatcher to Refresh my Image in the ViewBox after the calculations are ready. When I´m dont put the calculation in a seperate Thread then I can refresh or build my Image.

  Hello, I have written a program for a stack. For this i needed a StringBuilder to be able to show me what was in the stack else i would get the class name instead of the actual values inside. My question is there any other way except for a StringBuilder for such kind of problem? Also in what other kind of cases does this kind of problem happen?   Hello, I am trying to learn python and am making a program that will output a script. I want to use os.path.join but am pretty confused (I know I am very bad at scripting/programming) See, according to the docs ( http://docs.python.org/library/os.path.html ) if I say os.path.join('c:', 'sourcedir') I get C:sourcedir as it's output. According to the docs, this is normal (right?) But when I use the copytree command, Python will output it the desired way, for example import shutil src = os.path.join('c:', 'src') dst = os.path.join('c':', 'dst') shutil.copytree(src, dst) Here is the error code I get WindowsError: [Error 3] The system cannot find the path specified: 'C:src/.' If I wrap the os.path.join with os.path.normpath I get the same error If this os.path.join can't be used this way, then I am confused as to its purpose According to the pages suggested by Stack Overflow, slashes should not be used in join--that is correct I assume? I have created my document, and made a web page with a meta refresh tag, along the lines of this: <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="3;http://example.com/download.epl2" /> I specify that the document has a content-type of application/x-epl2, and I have associated .epl2 files on my computer with a program that silently sends them to the printer. I have put the website into my trusted sites zone. Currently Internet Explorer pops up the "Open, Save, Cancel" dialog box with no option to automatically open the file. Is there a setting in IE6/7/8 that I can use to have IE just open the file without prompting?

• Connect to an elevated COM server from a non-elevated process

  We have a program which launches a child process that hosts a local COM server, which for various reasons must be launched elevated. Everything works fine so long as both the parent and the child process are elevated. However, we also want to run when the parent process is non-elevated. Launching the child process results in a UAC dialog (which is acceptable), and the child appears to start correctly and successfully calls CoRegisterClassObject. However, the parent process gets REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG when calling CoCreateInstance with the same CLSID. I assume this is some sort of permissions issue. How can I register my class in the elevated server to allow it to be called from a non-elevated process.

  I am trying to write a program that will verify that all cookies sent out from the machine are in fact going to the domain they came from. This is part of a larger security project to detect cookie based malicious attacks (such as XSS). The main snag for this project is actually detecting the out-going cookies. Can someone point me in the right direction for monitoring out-going HTTP traffic for cookie information?   Folks, Yesterday I installed Rails 3.2 on Ubuntu 12.10 and created a new project in order to check it. It was working OK. Today I tried to create a new project and got the message bellow (Portuguese version): O programa 'rails' pode ser encontrado nos seguintes pacotes: * rails * ruby-railties-3.2 Tente: sudo apt-get install <pacote selecionado> Something like: The program 'rails' could not be found in the follow packages: ... ... Try: sudo apt-get install <selected package> I run the command gem list and all the gems are listed, including Rails one. I tried to search on the web for a solution, but haven't found any. • "Ant all" not working for me

  I have got involved in a project. This project uses ant which is not something I am comfortable with. I have checked out the source code and tried running ant on the most outer directory. Running 'ant' in commando prompt takes 1 sec and I get a BUILD SUCCESFULL message. If I run 'ant all' I get a BUILD FAILED. Java.io.IOExceptio: Cannot run program "ant": CreateProcess=2, the system cannot find the file specified and then a long stacktrace. Most of the people on the project runs OS-X while I use Windows XP. Any help or information is appreciated :)

• How to detect when a tab is focused or not in Chrome with Javascript?

  I need to know if the user is currently viewing the current tab or not in Google Chrome. I tried to use the events blur and focus binded to the window, but only the blur seems to be working. window.addEventListener('focus', function() { document.title = 'focused'; }); window.addEventListener('blur', function() { document.title = 'not focused'; }); The focus event works weird, only sometimes. If I switch to another tab and back, focus event won't activate. But if I click on the address bar and then back on the page, it will. Or if I switch to another program and then back to Chrome it will activate if the tab is currently focused.

  I'd like to write a .NET application in F# to automate some of the processing of my e-mails. For example, when an order comes in my program might compute a new htpasswd from the e-mail's contents, upload it to our web server and reply to the customer with login details. How do people do this? I've tried Outlook 2007 automation but it just prompts the user for security and my attempts to get it to stop doing this have failed so I cannot automate anything with it. Is there a .NET-friendly e-mail client I can use more easily? This has been so tedious that I'm seriously considering writing my own .NET-friendly e-mail client...

  Hi All, I want to enable Access for assistive devices in System Preferences programmatically. But Problem is that my application is not running as root user and i do not want my application to be as root user and also should not ask for any authentication in between. I want to tap all keyboard events globally. I am using CGEventTapCreate() for the same.In the documentation of CGEventTapCreate() API it is mentioned that, Event taps receive key up and key down events if one of the following conditions is true: The current process is running as the root user. Access for assistive devices is enabled. In Mac OS X v10.4 & later, you can enable this feature using System Preferences, Universal Access panel, Keyboard view. I tried manually by checking the Enable Access for assistive devices from System Preference and it gives me expected output. So is there any way to do the same via program without asking for authentication and also application is not running as root user? Thanks, Dheeraj.
