  • Java Custom exception throw behaves differently between different Projects

    - by Pablo
I am attempting to call the following in my code: public void checkParticleLightRestriction(Particle parent) throws LightException { if ( parent == null ) { throw new LightException("quantum-particle-restrict.23", this); } In one Project the exception is thrown and the effect is similar to calling "return" whereby I am returned back to the point immediately succeeding where this method was called. However in another Project I get thrown completed out of the current package and to a point way prior to the point preceeding this method. It likes instead of being kicked out of a bar I am being deported all the way out of the country. My option are the wrap the throw in a try / catch but I am wondering why this difference in behaviour beween the 2 projects ?

  • Adding code to the beginning / end of methods in runtime dynamically

    - by Irchi
I know instrumentation is a technique to add trace code dynamically into the methods to enable tracing and debugging. I was wondering if this is only a "Trace" option, hard coded into the CLR to add only trace code, or is there the ability to add any code to the methods? For example, I want to check for a condition in the beginning of every single method call in a certain class (say for permissions). Can I do this via adding dynamic code to the beginning of the methods in execution time? I'm not sure how this trace "instrumentation" thing works, but I'm wondering if this can be used for other goals too, or not.

  • How to delete Document Workspace sub folders with Sharepoint web services?

    - by pclem12
I'm trying to delete a sub folder in a dws. This is the code I've got: SharepointDocs.DwsSoapClient dws = new SharepointDocs.DwsSoapClient(); dws.DeleteFolderCompleted += dws_DeleteFolderCompleted; dws.DeleteFolderAsync(DWSname+'/'+folderName); In the call back for completion I get no error codes only the message "<Results/>" On the msdn site here, it says this empty message signals a success. However, the folder is still there. Any ideas what could be the problem?

    - by Brendon
    Hello all I am just a beginner in programing i wish covert some code from C# to F#, I have encotered this code: float[] v1=new float[10]; ... //Enqueue the Execute command. Queue.Execute(kernelVecSum, null, **new long[] { v1.Length }**, null, null); I have previously ask how to convert the v1 object, I think i know how, But how do i use the function call especially the "new long[] { v1.Length }" part of the function argument, what does "new long[] { v1.Length }" mean?? I have created v1 like this "let v1 = [| for i in 1.0 .. 10.0 -> 2.0 * i |]" Is it correct?? or should i use v1 like this "let v1 = ref [| for i in 1.0 .. 10.0 -> 2.0 * i |]" ???

  • Which application server should i choose for my project ?

    - by Dimitri
Hi folks, I am currently developing an application for some researchers in my university. It's a small java program that you can use by command line. The next step is to package that program and deploy it to an application server. Some clients program will submit requests to the server who will call the tool that I wrote. Lately, we will add more tools to the server and he has to dispatch the requests to the right tool. Which application server fits my needs ? I have looked for Tomcat, Jetty and Glassfish but it seems that they are only used for web application. Is it possible to use those servers in some context different from web context? Which package archive should i use (jar, war) ? Any advice?

  • Is it a good practice to perform direct database access in the code-behind of an ASP.NET page?

    - by patricks418
Hi, I am an experienced developer but I am new to web application development. Now I am in charge of developing a new web application and I could really use some input from experienced web developers out there. I'd like to understand exactly what experienced web developers do in the code-behind pages. At first I thought it was best to have a rule that all the database access and business logic should be performed in classes external to the code-behind pages. My thought was that only logic necessary for the web form would be performed in the code-behind. I still think that all the business logic should be performed in other classes but I'm beginning to think it would be alright if the code-behind had access to the database to query it directly rather than having to call other classes to receive a dataset or collection back. Any input would be appreciated.

  • Push a variable into global scope?

    - by Spot
We use instantiate and put system critical objects in $GLOBALS for easy access from anywhere (e.g. DB, Cache, User, etc.). We use $GLOBALS so much that it would (yes, really) drop the amount of code quite a bit if I could reference it like $G = &$GLOBALS for a shorthand call. The problem is that, per my experience and several hours of Googling, I have not found any construct in PHP which allows you to 'flag' a var as global, making $GLOBALS first class, and everything else second class. Am I missing something? Is this possible?

  • How to post on Facebook with Android using the latest SDK

    - by user645402
All the samples I have seen so far seem to be using an earlier version of the SDK and the parameters and calls don't match. Using the latest SDK, I'm trying this: String access_token = facebook.getAccessToken(); Bundle bundle = new Bundle(); bundle.putString("access_token", access_token); bundle.putString("app_id", FACEBOOK_APP_ID); bundle.putString("message", "My First Post"); bundle.putString("description", "My First Description"); asyncrunner.request("me/feed", bundle, new RequestListener() { And i get back a call to onComplete() with response = "{"data":[]}. And nothing ever gets posted to my wall on FB. Perhaps I'm not waiting long enough? How long should I need to wait before it shows up?

  • Does anyone know of a good script to force file downloads and yet protect download links on a PHP se

    - by racl101
I tried using a free script that I found on the Internet but it is giving me problems with Windows users (even though they are using IE 8, so it's not an option for me to ask them to upgrade their browsers.) Here's the requirements: I have a bunch of Microsoft Word and pdf files that need to be protected so that only authorized users can download them. I have already created the login system and the current script I have works fine for non-IE browsers. However, I keep getting recurring problems with Windows users who keep complaining that their files download corrupt and yet everyone else either using Mac or Linux or any other browser gets on just fine. The script must allow me to store files in a directory but force download of the file upon the function call. Must work well with most major browsers, especially I.E. If you have any practice suggestions or know of any great scripts (even if they are paid, I'm sick of this problem and would probably pay for a paid script) it would be greatly appreciated in advance.

  • Design guidelines for cache mechanism

    - by Delashmate
Hi All, I got assignment to write design for cache mechanism (this is work assignment, not homework), This is my first time writing a design document, Our program display images for doctors, and we want to reduce the parsing time of the images So we want to save the parsed data in advance (in files or inside database) Currently I have several design key ideas: Handle locks - each shared data structure should be handled, also files Test - add test to verify the data from the cache is equal to the data from the files To decouple the connection to the database- not to call directly to the database Cleanup mechanisem- to delete old files if the cahce directory exceed configurable threshold Support config file Support performance tool in the feature I will also add class diagram, data flow charts, and workflow What do you think I should add to the key ideas? Do you know good link to atricales about design? Thanks in advance, Dan

  • CodeIgnitor is generating multiple sessions in the database, why?

    - by Derrick
Ive got a site that does a few ajax calls on page load, now for some reason, codeIgnitor is inserting 4 sessions (I'm assuming for each ajax call) as you load the page. I'm storing the sessions in the database. I'm pretty sure there should only be one session per browser? FF seems to only generate one, other browsers seem to create a whole bunch of sessions. Multiple sessions for the same user are giving me some serious authentication problems. any ideas?

  • Best way to force Spring shutdown from a bean?

    - by xcut
My application uses a Spring DefaultMessageListenerContainer to process incoming messages. The main method of the app already registers a shutdown hook. Question is this: what is the best way to force the application context to shut down? If I throw a RuntimeException in the message listener, it is handled by the container, and not passed on. Is calling System.exit acceptable? Do I pass along the ApplicationContext to every class that needs to shut down, so I can call close() on it?

  • How to Deal with SET ANSI_NULLS ON or OFF ?

    - by Shantanu Gupta
I want to call this procedure that sends one value that can be NULL or any int value. SELECT DomainName, DomainCode FROM Tags.tblDomain WHERE SubDomainId =@SubDomainId I simply want to use this single query rather than what i m doing right now in below given code. I searched for this how could i do this then i got this Link. According to this I have to set ANSI_NULLS OFF I am not able to set this inside this procedure before executing my sql query and then reset it again after doing this. ALTER PROCEDURE [Tags].[spOnlineTest_SubDomainSelect] @SubDomainId INT AS BEGIN -- SET NOCOUNT ON added to prevent extra result sets from -- interfering with SELECT statements. SET NOCOUNT ON; -- Insert statements for procedure here IF @SubDomainId IS NULL SELECT DomainName, DomainCode FROM Tags.tblDomain WHERE SubDomainId IS NULL ELSE SELECT DomainName, DomainCode FROM Tags.tblDomain WHERE SubDomainId =@SubDomainId END What will be the better practice to do deal with ANSI_NULLS or Using If Else

  • Remote Seam Persistence

Hi. I have a button in a .xhtml file which calls a javascript function which calls a java function remotely (in jboss seam environment). That java function has an entityManager.persist(object). Do you know why this line of code doesn't commit to the DB? It says something that a transaction hasn't started. I supose in a remote context i don't have a transaction began because if i put an action on that button which calls the same java function instead of using javascript is above, it works fine; entityManager persists the object and i can see it in the DB. Does anyone has any ideas how could i make to actually persist the object using javascript to call the java function? (i have to use javascript because i need the callback function )

  • codeigniter and form action trailing / issue??

    - by alex
Hi, I am having a bit of an issue with the way CI is dealing with /. In a regular form i notice that the following form action didn't work action="mydomain.com/ci-controller/login/" but this one does work action="mydomain.com/ci-controller/login" Strange but he it worked. But now i need this from a iframe, i the iframe i have a login form which sets the parents url to mydomain.com/ci-controller/login, but i get the same error as it was calling mydomain.com/ci-controller/login/ Could my problem be that the call from the iframe adds a trailing / which is not visible?? Any thoughts

  • Make text appear briefly in a JPanel

    - by Roo
Hi, I am trying to make text appear briefly before it disappears. It would be along the lines of 1) Set color to black 2) wait x amount of seconds 3) set color to background color The method I call is repaint(), which then calls paintComponent(Graphics painter). repaint() is called only if I press the space-bar. I thought of trying repaint();Thread.sleep(1000);repaint(); (I do catch the Interrupt exception, just not shown), but it only calls paintComponent once per space-bar . Is there an easy way to do this or is this something that is a bit challenging?

  • Problem with accessing classes from another class.

    - by srikanth rongali
I have a classA, classB,classC. I have another class classABC; All are CCLayer inherited. I need to call all the classA, classB, classC from classABC. #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import "cocos2d.h" @interface classABC : CCLayer { classA *aClass; } @property(nonatomic, retain)classA *aClass; @end #import "classABC" #import "classA.h" #import "classB.h" #import "classC.h" @implementation classABC -(id)init { if( (self = [super init]) ) { ClassA *aClass = [[ClassA alloc]init]; CCScene *aClassS = [CCScene node]; CCLayer * aClassL = [aClass node]; [aClassS addChild: aClassL]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] setAnimationInterval:60.0/60]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] replaceScene: aClass]; } return self; } @end But I am not getting the classA displayed. How should I do it ? Thank You.

  • how to protect an imported win32 dll into a .net application from memory issues

    - by Eric
I have a c# application that needs to use a legacy win32 dll. The dll is almost its own app, it has dialogs, operations with hardware, etc. When this dll is imported and used, there are a couple of problems that occur: Dragging a dialog (not a windows system dialog, but one created by the dll) across the managed code app causes the UI to not repaint. Further it generates a system out of memory exception from various ui controls. The performance is incredibly slow. There seems to be no way to unload the dll so the memory never gets cleaned up. When we close our managed app, we get another memory exception. At the moment we import each method call as such: [DllImport("dllname.dll", EntryPoint = "MethodName", SetLastError = true, CharSet = CharSet.Auto, ExactSpelling = true, CallingConvention = CallingConvention.StdCall)]

  • Performance improvement to a big if clause in SQL Server function

    - by Miles D
I am maintaining a function in SQL Server 2005, that based on an integer input parameter needs to call different functions e.g. IF @rule_id = 1 -- execute function 1 ELSE IF @rule_id = 2 -- execute function 2 ELSE IF @rule_id = 3 ... etc The problem is that there are a fair few rules (about 100), and although the above is fairly readable, its performance isn't great. At the moment it's implemented as a series of IF's that do a binary-chop, which is much faster, but becomes fairly unpleasant to read and maintain. Any alternative ideas for something that performs well and is fairly maintainable?

  • how to exit recursive math formula and still get an answer

    - by calccrypto
i wrote this python code, which from wolfram alpha says that its supposed to return the factorial of any positive value (i probably messed up somewhere), integer or not: from math import * def double_factorial(n): if int(n) == n: n = int(n) if [0,1].__contains__(n): return 1 a = (n&1) + 2 b = 1 while a<=n: b*=a a+= 2 return float(b) else: return factorials(n/2) * 2**(n/2) *(pi/2)**(.25 *(-1+cos(n * pi))) def factorials(n): return pi**(.5 * sin(n*pi)**2) * 2**(-n + .25 * (-1 + cos(2*n*pi))) * double_factorial(2*n) the problem is , say i input pi to 6 decimal places. 2*n will not become a float with 0 as its decimals any time soon, so the equation turns out to be pi**(.5 * sin(n*pi)**2) * 2**(-n + .25 * (-1 + cos(2*n*pi))) * double_factorial(loop(loop(loop(...))))) how would i stop the recursion and still get the answer? ive had suggestions to add an index to the definitions or something, but the problem is, if the code stops when it reaches an index, there is still no answer to put back into the previous "nests" or whatever you call them

  • Calling some functions before main in C

    - by minjang
I'd like to do some stuffs before main function. I have multiple source files. In each file, there is some work that needs to be done before main. It was no problem in C++, but problematic with C. In C++, this can be done by two ways: Exploiting a constructor of a global class/struct. Calling a function to a global variable For example, static const int __register_dummy_ = __AddRegisterMetaInfo(...); However, in C, either ways is impossible. Obviously, there is no constructor. So, the first option is inherently impossible. I thought that the second option would be possible, but not compiled in C (I tested only with Visual C++. It gives C2099.). C only allows a constant to a non-automatic variable. Is there any way to call some functions before main?

  • Model's method not being recognized when called

    - by Brian Roisentul
I'm using ruby on rails 2.3.2 and also using the acts_as_taggable_on puglin. That generated me two db tables: tags and taggings. As I didn't need anything more from those, I didn't create a Tag model, for example. Now the project is more mature, I need to create some methods for tags, so I created a Tag model with some methods in it. The model looks something like this: class Tag < ActiveRecord::Base def self.get_parent parent = Tag.find(self.parent_id) return parent end end When I call it from a controller, it won't find the method. This is the code: tag = Tag.find(tag_id) the_parent = tag.get_parent This will throw an error saying: undefined method `get_parent' for #<Tag id: 13, name: "Historia", parent_id: 12> I don't know what's wrong. Any help will be appreciated.

  • T-SQL stored procedure to return google style "suggested" search results

    - by stephen776
Ok, using SQL Server 2008. On my web page I have a textbox with jQuery-UI AutoComplete hooked up. Now I need a stored procedure to search across all columns of a single table(or multiple joined tables I suppose) for a search string coming from the textbox/autocomplete AJAX call, and return "suggested" search strings. I am using the AdventureWorks db for testing(Products table) So for example, the product table has columns for product name and product number(among others) and I want to return suggested search strings based on user input where they may enter a product name and/or a product number. I have it working across a single column which was simple. Any ideas?
