  • Do you have an address column somewhere in your database?

    - by shay.shmeltzer
Do you have an address column somewhere in your database? If the answer is yes - then the Web seminar I'm going to run together with the guys from Navteq on May 26th, might be of interest to you. You see, we all have geographical related information in our database, but many of us don't actually use this to do any geographical type of operations/representation with it. Well once you attend the "Add Maps to Your Java Applications - the Easy Way" seminar this might change. In the seminar we'll give you a quick overview of the Spatial related capabilities of the Oracle DB, Middleware and tools. And a demo showing you how easy it is to actually get data to show up on a map in your application and to interact with it. So register today, and mark your calendar.

  • Why can't i ping server? VMware set to 'Bridged' loses IP address on 10.04.

    - by Dave
I have installed a fresh 10.04 server onto a laptop on a home network as a VMware machine and set network connection to 'Bridged: connect directly to the physical network' from within VMware and rebooted the server. It then loses its IP address. 'dhclient eth0' says "No working leases in persistent database - sleeping" DHCP is working fine on the wi-fi router. The laptop is wired to a wireless router and from there wirelessly to a desktop. Desktop and Laptop can ping each other from Windows. I can ping the VM from Windows on the same laptop, but not from the desktop. Strangely ping has started to resolve hostnames to IPv6 addresses and not IPv4. Don't know whether that's connected? A kick in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I've been an Ubuntu desktkop user for a few years, but new to ubuntu servers.

  • SharePoint Search Problem: The start address sps3://server cannot be crawled.

    - by Clara Oscura
With this post, I'm going to start a series on problems I have encountered with SharePoint search. Error: The start address sps3://luapp105 cannot be crawled. • XP Deploying issues due to msvcr90.dll trying to load FlsAlloc

    - by Sorin Sbarnea
I have an application build with VS2008 SP1a (9.0.30729.4148) on Windows 7 x64 that does not want to start under XP. The message is The application failed to initialize properly (0x80000003). Click on OK to terminate the application.. I checked with depends.exe and found that msvcr90.dll does try to load FlsAlloc from KERNEL32.dll - and FlsAlloc is available only starting with Vista. I'm sure it is not used by the application. How to solve the issue? The SxS package is already installed on the target machine - In fact I have all 3 versions of 9.0 SxS (initial release, sp1, and sp1+security patch) Application is compiled with _BIND_TO_CURRENT_VCLIBS_VERSION=1 Also I defined the right target Windows version on stdafx.h #define WINVER 0x0500 #define _WIN32_WINNT 0x0500 Manifest file <assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0"> <trustInfo xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v3"> <security> <requestedPrivileges> <requestedExecutionLevel level="asInvoker" uiAccess="false" /> </requestedPrivileges> </security> </trustInfo> <dependency> <dependentAssembly> <assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.VC90.CRT" version="9.0.30729.4148" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b" /> </dependentAssembly> </dependency> <dependency> <dependentAssembly> <assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.VC90.MFC" version="9.0.30729.4148" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b" /> </dependentAssembly> </dependency> </assembly> Result from depends Started "c:\program files\app\app.EXE" (process 0xA0) at address 0x00400000. • Cloning and renaming form elements with jQuery

    - by Micor
I am looking for an effective way to either clone/rename or re-create address fields to offer ability to submit multiple addresses on the same page. So with form example like this: <div id="addresses"> <div class="address"> <input type="text" name="address[0].street"> <input type="text" name="address[0].city"> <input type="text" name="address[0].zip"> <input type="text" name="address[0].state"> </div> </div> <a href="" id="add_address">Add address form</a> From what I can understand there are two options to do that: Recreate the form field by field and increment the index which is kind of verbose: var index = $(".address").length; $('<`input`>').attr({ name: 'address[' + index + '].street', type: 'text' }).appendTo(...); $('<`input`>').attr({ name: 'address[' + index + '].city', type: 'text' }).appendTo(...); $('<`input`>').attr({ name: 'address[' + index + '].zip', type: 'text' }).appendTo(...); $('<`input`>').attr({ name: 'address[' + index + '].state', type: 'text' }).appendTo(...); Clone Existing layer and replace the name in the clone: $("div.address").clone().appendTo($("#addresses")); Which one do you recommend using in terms of being more efficient and if its #2 can you please suggest how I would go about search and replacing all occurrences of [0] with [1] ([n]). Thank you.

  • Invoice & Invoice lines: How do you store customer address information?

    - by elviejo
Hi I'm developing an invoicing application. So the general idea is to have two tables: Invoice (ID, Date, CustomerAddress, CustomerState, CustomerCountry, VAT, Total); InvoiceLine (Invoice_ID, ID, Concept, Units, PricePerUnit, Total); As you can see this basic design leads to a lot of repetiton of records where the client will have the same addrres, state and country. So the alternative is to have an address table and then make a relationship Address<-Invoice. However I think that an invoice is immutable document and should be stored just the way it was first made. Sometimes customers change their addresses, or states and if it was coming from an Address catalog that will change all the previously made invoices. So What is your experience? How is the customer address stored in an invoice? In the Invoice table? an Address Table? or something else? Can you provide pointers to a book, article or document where this is discussed in further detail?

  • How to get function name against function address by reading co-classs'es vtable?

    - by Usman
Hello, I need to call the co-class function by reading its address from vtable of COM exposed interface methods. I need some generic way to read addresses. Now I need to call the function, which would have specific address(NOT KNOWN) arguments(parameters) which I have collected from TLB, and name as well. How that address corresponds to that function name to which I am going to call. For this I need to traverse vtable which is holding functional addresses, LASTLY need to correspond function address with NAME of that function. This is I dont know. How? More over one function with the same name may appear in vtable(Overloading case). In that case we need to distinguish function names w.r.t their addresses. How to tackle ? Regards Usman

  • ChannelFactory don't have an address on the endpoint, why?

    - by Maxim
When I create a new instance of a ChannelFactory: var factory = new ChannelFactory<IMyService>(); and that I create a new channel, I have an exception saying that the address of the Endpoint is null. My configuration inside my web.config is as mentioned and everything is as it is supposed to be (especially the address of the endpoint). If I create a new MyServiceClientBase, it loads all the configuration from my channel factory: var factoryWithClientBase = new MyServiceClientBase().ChannelFactory; Console.WriteLine(factoryWithClientBase.Endpoint.Address); //output the configuration inside the web.config var factoryWithChannelFactory = new ChannelFactory<IMyService>(); Console.WriteLine(factoryWithChannelFactory.Endpoint.Address); //output nothing (null) Why?

  • Getting the start address of the current process's heap?

    - by beta
Hey, I am exploring the lower level workings of the system, and was wondering how malloc determines the start address of the heap. Is the heap a constant offset or is there a call of some sort to get the start address? Does the stack effect the start address of the heap? Thanks, Braden McDorman

  • Usernames are evil. How can I make Restful Authentication only require an email address and password

    - by Koning WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
As the title says: how can I use the Restful Authentication Plugin with Ruby on Rails. When I want to create a new user, it requires me to set the (wrong-named, confusing field) login (= username), email address and password. However, I want, like Facebook does, to require the user to enter only an email address and password, not a username. People will also login with this email address. Can anyone help me?

  • String Manipulation: Spliting Delimitted Data

    - by Milli Szabo
I need to split some info from a asterisk delimitted data. Data Format: NAME*ADRESS LINE1*ADDRESS LINE2 Rules: 1. Name should be always present 2. Address Line 1 and 2 might not be 3. There should be always three asterisks. Samples: MR JONES A ORTEGA*ADDRESS 1*ADDRESS2* Name: MR JONES A ORTEGA Address Line1: ADDRESS 1 Address Line2: ADDRESS 2 A PAUL*ADDR1** Name: A PAUL Address Line1: ADDR1 Address Line2: Not Given My algo is: 1. Iterate through the characters in the line 2. Store all chars in a temp variables until first * is found. Reject the data if no char is found before first occurence of asterisk. If some chars found, use it as the name. 3. Same as step 2 for finding address line 1 and 2 except that this won't reject the data if no char is found My algo looks ugly. The code looks uglier. Spliting using //* doesn't work either since name can be replaced with address line 1 If the data is *Address 1*Address2, split will create two indexes in the array where index 0 will have the value of Address 1 and index 2 will have the value of Address2. Where's the name. Was there a name? Any suggestion?

  • How to get the actual address of a pointer in C?

    - by Airjoe
BACKGROUND: I'm writing a single level cache simulator in C for a homework assignment, and I've been given code that I must work from. In our discussions of the cache, we were told that the way a small cache can hold large addresses is by splitting the large address into the position in the cache and an identifying tag. That is, if you had an 8 slot cache but wanted to store something with address larger than 8, you take the 3 (because 2^3=8) rightmost bits and put the data in that position; so if you had address 22 for example, binary 10110, you would take those 3 rightmost bits 110, which is decimal 5, and put it in slot 5 of the cache. You would also store in this position the tag, which is the remaining bits 10. One function, cache_load, takes a single argument, and integer pointer. So effectively, I'm being given this int* addr which is an actual address and points to some value. In order to store this value in the cache, I need to split the addr. However, the compiler doesn't like when I try to work with the pointer directly. So, for example, I try to get the position by doing: npos=addr%num_slots The compiler gets angry and gives me errors. I tried casting to an int, but this actually got me the value that the pointer was pointing to, not the numerical address itself. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

  • iPhone - How do I find the MAC address of the connected WiFi access point?

    - by Ciaran
Without using the private APIs, is it possible to programatically determine the MAC address of the access point that the iPhone is connected to? I understand that this should be doable using the core BSD libraries, but we are new to this, so it would be great if someone can point us to some starter code. Note: we're trying to determine the MAC address of the remote device - not the MAC address of the iPhone.

  • Django rewrites URL as IP address in browser - why?

    - by Mitch
I am using django, nginx and apache. When I access my site with a URL (e.g., http://www.foo.com/) what appears in my browser address is the IP address with admin appended (e.g., http://123.45.67.890/admin/). When I access the site by IP, it is redirected as expected by django's urls.py (e.g., http://123.45.67.890/ - http://123.45.67.890/accounts/login/?next=/) I would like to have the name URL act the same way as the IP. That is, if the URL goes to a new view, the host in the browser address should remain the same and not change to the IP address. Where should I be looking to fix this? • Why do Ping and Dig provide different IP address than nslookup?

    - by user1032531
When pinging my domain name which points to my home public IP from two different servers on my LAN, it shows them pinging different IP. Further investigation shows dig and nslookup providing different results. See below. A little history. My IP used to be 11.22.33.444 and is hosted by Comcast. I changed routers, and it somehow got changed to 55.66.77.888. I've since updated my 1and1 domain name to point to the 55.66.77.888. desktop is a basic server, runs the web server, and connects wirelessly to my LAN. laptop is a GUI and connected via CAT5. Both operate Centos6.4. My old router was a D-Link, and used their "Virtual Server" feature to pass port 80 to desktop. My new router is a Linksys, and I use their "Port Forwarding" feature to pass port 80 to desktop (however, I haven't gotten this part working yet). What is going on??? Why the different IPs? Obviously, it most somehow be stored on the server, but why does the actual machine even know the public IP since it is on a LAN? How do I purge the old IP? • How can I make outbound requests from two servers that appear to come from the same IP address

    - by Brad
I am making calls from an ec2 instance to a third party web service (over which I have no control). I would like to be able to scale horizontally, so that I can make these calls from multiple ec2 instances, but the web service I'm calling whitelists my IP, and for the sake of discussion let's assume I can't get another IP address whitelisted. How can I send requests from 2+ machines that appear to the web service to be from the same IP address? Thanks!
