    Hi, I've been working with a Legacy application which interacts with a database through ADODB, and most of the changes to records follow a fairly straightforward pattern of: Create a Recordset from a query Make various change to the recordset call .Update on the recordset. What I'm wondering is, with ADODB recordsets, is there anyway to extract the 'changes'. The logic which changes the recordset is scattered about, and all I need is the changes, not how it was changed... Any suggestions for tracking changes in a recordset (in code, a trigger on the DB or similar is no use here) Thanks in advance

    According to this article, it's possible to get multiline XML comments -- instead of using ///, use /** */. This is my interpretation of what multiline comments are, and what I want to have happen: /** * <summary> * this comment is on line 1 in the tooltip * this comment is on line 2 in the tooltip * </summary> */ However, when I use this form, the tooltip that pops up when I hover over my class name in my code is single-line, i.e. it looks exactly as if I had written my comment like this: /// <summary> /// this comment is on line 1 in the tooltip /// this comment is on line 2 in the tooltip /// </summary> Is this behavior actually possible still in VS2008?

  • Background Activity for Map in Android started again if phone orientation is changed

    Hi, i've developed an android app that's fetches an xml file and displays this data via several markers on the map. This works fine so far. The problem right now is that when i switch the orientation of the phone (portrait-landscape or vice versa) the markers disappear for a small moment, the xml processing is started again and then they reappear. Is there a way to prevent this re-loading of the file? It only takes about 2-3 seconds..so no big deal, but still disturbing

  • WPF button template alignment not setting correctly

    Hi guys, I have created a button template consisting of a border and a content presenter. A style is then wrapped around this template and applied to a button, when this button is used it is not carrying the values for horizontal and vertical alignment. In the designer the allignments are showing and the button is in the correct place, but when i run the program the button appears to have horizontal alignment = left and vertical alignment = right. Any ideas?

  • Controls in UIActionSheet are positioning wrong

    I need to display a pop with a UISwitch and a Done button when user taps on a button and save the state of the switch when the done button in the pop up is tapped. NSLog(@"Switch is on") : NSLog(@"Switch if off"); } } All this works great. I have problem with positioning. Unfortunately, I don't have a screen shot at the moment to post here. But the switch appears at the very top on the same line with the Action Sheet title and then below that is the Done button. Please someone help me how to position the switch below the Title and increase the Action Sheet size so it looks neat. I need this asap. Thanks.

  • SQL Server compare table entries for update

    I have a trade table with several million rows. Each row represents the version of a trade. If I'm given a possibly new trade I compare it to the latest version in the trade table. If it has changed I add a new version, otherwise I do nothing. In order to compare the 2 trades I read the version from the trade table into my application. This doesn't work well when I'm given 10s of thousands of possibly new trades. Even batching reads to read in a 1000 trades at once and compare them the whole process can take several minutes. All the time is spent in the DB. I'm trying to find a way to compare the possibly new trades to the ones in the trade table without so much I/O. What I've come up with so far is adding a hash column to each row in the trade table. The hash is of all the trade fields. Then when I'm given possibly new trades I compute their hash, put the values into a temporary table, then find ones that are different. This feels very hacky. Is there a better way of doing it?     Hi, I'm trying to write a function that is gets two arrays and the name of another function as arguements. e.g. main.m: x=[0 0.2 0.4 0.6 0.8 1.0]; y=[0 0.2 0.4 0.6 0.8 1.0]; func2(x,y,'func2eq') func 2.m : function t =func2(x, y, z, 'func') //"unexpected matlab expression" error message here t= func(x,y,z); func2eq.m: function z= func2eq(x,y) z= x + sin(pi * x)* exp(y); Matlab tells gives me the above error message. I've never passed a function name as an arguement before. Where am I going wrong? p.s. sorry about the formatting of code above, I can't seems to get SO to show parts of the code as code.

    In TextMate 1.5.10 r1623, you get little arrows that allow you to fold method blocks: Unfortunately, if you have a multi-lined Python comment, it doesn't recognize it, so you can't fold it: def foo(): """ How do I fold these comments? """ print "bar" TextMate has this on their site on how to customize folding: http://manual.macromates.com/en/navigation_overview#customizing_foldings ...but I'm not skilled in regex enough to do anything about it. TextMate uses the Oniguruma regex API, and I'm using the default Python.tmbundle updated to the newest version via GetBundles. Does anyone have an idea of how to do this?   • Problem calling stored procedure with a fixed length binary parameter using Entity Framework

    I have a problem calling stored procedures with a fixed length binary parameter using Entity Framework. The stored procedure ends up being called with 8000 bytes of data no matter what size byte array I use to call the function import. The varbinary(2000) seemed to work fine and the correct length was maintained. Is there a way to prevent the extra data being sent to SQL server? This seems like a big waste of network resource.

    Given: Start Year Start Month & Start Day End Month & End Day What SQL statement results in TRUE if a date lands between the Start and End days? 1st example: Start Date = 11-22 End Date = 01-17 Start Year = 2009 Specific Date = 2010-01-14 TRUE 2nd example: Start Date = 11-22 End Date = 11-16 Start Year = 2009 Specific Date = 2010-11-20 FALSE 3rd example: Start Date = 02-25 End Date = 03-19 Start Year = 2004 Specific Date = 2004-02-29 TRUE I was thinking of using the MySQL functions datediff and sign plus a CASE condition to determine whether the year wraps, but it seems rather expensive. Am looking for a simple, efficient calculation. Update 1 The problem is the end date cannot simply use the year. The year must be increased if the end month/day combination happens before the start date. The start date is easy: Start Date = date( concat_ws( '-', year, Start Month, Start Day ) ) The end date is not so simple. Update 2 Here is what I was thinking about for obtaining the end year: end_year = case sign( diff( date( concat_ws( year, start_month, start_day ) ), date( concat_ws( year, end_month, end_day ) ) ) ) when -1 then Start_Year + 1 else Start_Year end case Then wrap that expression (once syntactically correct) inside of another date, followed by BETWEEN statement. Update 3 To clear up some confusion: there is no end year. The end year must be calculated. Thank you!

    i'm often getting multiple errors showing up for an individual property, when I'd like them to be prioritized, as in, if Required is satisfied, check StringLength, but if Required fails, show that message only. I'm getting inconsistent behavior here, and I'm curious as to how the framework determines this priority? has anyone else had problems with this? Thanks!

  • SOAP web services in haskell?

    I have to write a bunch of small web services. They must be defined by a WSDL and work via SOAP-RPC, in order to work with an existing workflow engine and service registry framework. I can, however, serve them on a service stack/platform of my choice. I'm presently writing them in Java, and it's not too bad. But I'm thinking my life might be easier if I was able to write these services in Haskell. Searching on Google, it looks like, once upon a time, someone else had the same idea and started a project called "HAIFA". However, it looks like HAIFA hasn't been maintained for some years, and I couldn't find any other frameworks supporting serving up services written in Haskell as SOAP web services. Does anyone know of any other frameworks that will allow me to easily write SOAP-based web services using Haskell? If not, has anyone done this manually (i.e., use XML libraries from hackage to process the incoming soap-rpc requests, and create soap-rpc compliant replies)? Was it difficult to do? Any gotchas? Was it worth the effort? Thanks in advance!

    I have the following code; int days = [[SettingsUtils daysToRetainHistory] intValue]; [retainHistory setText:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"Days to retain History: %d", days]]; [daysToRetainHistory setValue:days animated:NO]; where [SettingsUtils daysToRetainHistory] is as follows; + (int) daysToRetainHistory { return (int)[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] objectForKey:@"CaseBaseDaysToRetainHistory"]; } I get the compiler warning Invalid receiver type 'int' because I call intValue on an int but unless I do this I can't seem to get the integer value out and always end up with the memory address i.e. 98765432 instead of 9 which ruins the UILabel display [retainHistory] and the UISlider [daysToRetainHistory] value. How do I avoid the compiler warning and still get my integer value in the label and the necessary float value for setting the UISlider value?

  • Best Place to Store Config Files and Log Files on Windows for My Program?

    I need to store log files and config files for my application. Where is the best place to store them? Right now I'm just using the current directory, which ends up putting them in the Program Files directory where my program lives. The log files will probably be accessed by the user somewhat regularly, so %APPDATA% seems a little hard to get to. Is a directory under %USERPROFILE%\My Documents the best? It needs to work for all versions of Windows from 2000 forward.

  • What benefits can Java developer have from moving to a *NIX platform?

    Hi everyone, A friend of mine is a Java developer, who's using *NIX for ages. He claims that *NIX is for real Java geeks, whereas WIN is for dummies (and I'm one of them, according to him) and girls. When I ask him to argue his position, and explain, what's so good for Java developer on *NIX, he starts talking about console, wget, curl and grep. But sorry, wget and curl analogues exist for the WIN platform as well. As for the console - I'm using FAR Commander, and have access to the command line when I need. Moreover, even if I decide moving to *NIX, I will certainly use Netbeans or Eclipse on it, so there will be no big difference. Guys, who use Java on *NIX, could you please give me some real killer examples, when *NIX (any util or technique) dramatically increases Java development productivity (in the way the hints are given in "The Pragmatic Programmer"), or, which is also important, gives more fun from the process.     I am trying to create a database field merge into a document (rtf) using php i.e if I have a document that starts Dear Sir, Customer Name: [customer_name], Date of order: [order_date] After retrieving the appropriate database record I can use a simple search and replace to insert the database field into the right place. So far so good. I would however like to have a little more control over the data before it is replaced. For example I may wish to Title Case it, or convert a delimited string into a list with carriage returns. I would therefore like to be able to add extra formatting commands to the field to be replaced. e.g. Dear Sir, Customer Name: [customer_name, TC], Date of order: [order_date, Y/M/D] There may be more than one formatting command per field. Is there a way that I can now search for these strings? The format of the strings is not set in stone, so if I have to change the format then I can. Any suggestions appreciated.
