    This is on a Surface Pro. I have not installed a virtual machine. Here is Google's feedback on the error message I receive when attempting login: "Login failed. Could not identify your computer" error message If you're receiving a 'Login failed. Could not identify your computer.' error, we couldn’t identify your machine. Please note that at this time, virtual machines aren't supported by Google Play.   • I need to move an entity to the mouse location after i rightclick

    Well I've read the related questions-answers but still cant find a way to move my champion to the mouse position after a right-button mouse-click. How do I make it move consistently all the time? It seems I am not updating the sprite at all. EDIT I added the Vector2 as Nick said and with speed changed to 50 it should be OK. I tried it with if ButtonState.Pressed and it works while pressing the button. Thanks. However I wanted it to start moving when single mouse clicked. It should be moving until reaches the mousePosition. The Edit of Nick's post says to create another Vector2, But I already have the one called mousePosition.     I'm wondering would it be considered acceptable: The window class is responsible for drawing data, so it will have a method: Window::draw(const Sprite&); Window::draw(const Rect&); Window::draw(const Triangle&); Window::draw(const Circle&); and all those primitives + sprites would be just public struct. For example Sprite: struct Sprite { float x, y; // center float origin_x, origin_y; float width, height; float rotation; float scaling; GLuint texture; Sprite(float w, float h); Sprite(float w, float h, float a, float b); void useTexture(std::string file); void setOrigin(float a, float b); void move(float a, float b); // relative move void moveTo(float a, float b); // absolute move void rotate(float a); // relative rotation void rotateTo(float a); // absolute rotation void rotationReset(); void scale(float a); // relative scaling void scaleTo(float a); // absolute scaling void scaleReset(); }; So instead of having each primitive to call their draw() function, which is a little bit off topic for their object, I let the Window class handle all the OpenGL stuff and manipulate them as simple objects that will be drawn later on. Is this pattern used? Does it have any cons against it's primitives-draw-themself pattern? Are there any other related patterns?

    Combining "What is your default web browser?" and "What are the differences between Linux Window Managers", I ask you: which window manager do you use, and why? Myself I prefer a minimal window manager on the one hand (in the past I used Fluxbox), but on the other hand wish to go with the main stream, to ease finding (Googling) solutions in case of problems. Hence I stick with Gnome as it is shipped with Ubuntu. Why do you use the window manager which you use? I understand some reasons may be subjective, but please try to cite technical reasons where possible.

    Moved from Home to work and went to fire up my project and after long pause "The provider did not return a ProviderManifestToken string" or even More Abscure ProviderIncompatable Exception Now after 20 mins of chasing my tail re different ver of EntityFramework 4.1 vs 4.2...blahblahblah Look inside at the inner exception A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible DOH!!!! Or a clean translation is that it cant find SQL or is offline or not running. SO check the power is on/Service running or as in my case Edit web.config & change back to Work SQL box   Hope you dont have this pain as the default errors @ the moment suck balls in the EntityFramework 4.XX releases   Cheers

  • Priority Manager&ndash;Part 1- Laying out the plan

    Now that we have shown the EDMX with XPO/XAF and how use SpecFlow and BDD to run EasyTest scripts, let’s put it all together and show the evolution of a project using all the tools combined. I have a simple project that I use to track my priorities throughout the day.  It uses some of Stephen Covey’s principles from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.  The idea is to write down all your priorities the night before and rank them.  This way when you get started tomorrow you will have your list of priorities.  Now it’s not that new things won’t appear tomorrow and reprioritize your list, but at least now you can track them.  My idea is to create a project that will allow you manage your list from your desktop, a web browser or your mobile device.  This way your list is never too far away.  I will layout the data model and the additional concepts as time progresses. My goal is to show the power of all of these tools combined and I thought the best way would be to build a project in sequence.  I have had this idea for quite some time so let’s get it completed with the outline below. Here is the outline of the series of post in the near future: Part 2 – Modeling the Business Objects Part 3 – Changing XAF Default Properties Part 4 – Advanced Settings within Liekhus EDMX/XAF Tool Part 5 – Custom Business Rules Part 6 – Unit Testing Our Implementation Part 7 – Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and SpecFlow Tests Part 8 – Using the Windows Application Part 9 – Using the Web Application Part 10 – Exposing OData from our Project Part 11 – Consuming OData with Excel PowerPivot Part 12 – Consuming OData with iOS Part 13 – Consuming OData with Android Part 14 – What’s Next I hope this helps outline what to expect.  I anticipate that I will have additional topics mixed in there but I plan on getting this outline completed within the next several weeks.  Thanks

  • Continuously asking for partial upgrade

    I just upgraded my Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04 after the announcement of the final release of Ubuntu 12.04. The upgrade process went fine. But now when I run the update manager it asks for a partial upgrade. But the funny thing is it installs 84 new packages in installation step, remove all the 84 packages in the cleaning step!!! This is happening recursively(Every time I launch the update manager). Please can you suggest something?   • loading splash screen takes priority over terminal or windows manager while running elsa

    I recently installed e17 and was trying to set up defaults to use elsa and ecomorph over the standard compiz as it constantly crashes since updating to 12.04. If elsa is installed the loading screen hangs and never loads to login, however i can get to a terminal or the e17 login instead of the standard gdm that usually shows up, within a second the screen goes back to the loading screen. I can still type and login as well as run commands in the terminal, but all I see is the loading screen. Switching between terminals i can confirm my commands before it switches back to the loading screen. If i remove elsa the loading screen hangs, but I can get to a terminal login and run lightdm to start my session with no problems. I have multiple DE installed and am unsure which loading screen is coming up. i think it's the KDE screen, grub comes up with a debian background if that helps. I'm not sure if i can switch the loading screen and resolve this issue or if i'm just going to have to scrap using elsa and get lightdm to load on boot again. Elsa would be my preference. I don't have the space to backup my files for a complete reinstall. Please help!

I need to reboot to do that, which is a waste of time. I get to the stage at which there are the options to test without installing or install or so on where I select 'Install Ubuntu.' Here it relays through some fast DOS commands until it reaches 'end trace' and then, eventually, 'Killed.' I have already got a functional 11.10 version installed, could this be a problem? The reason I am attempting a reinstall is because the package system is damaged inside 11.10, a problem I can't seem to solve. If I try to install any new software from within the software centre it tells me that two banshee extensions must be removed.     I am working on a hobby project called Menu/Recipe Management. This is how my entities and their relations look like. A Nutrient has properties Code and Value An Ingredient has a collection of Nutrients A Recipe has a Collection of Ingredients and occasionally can have a collection of other recipes A Meal has a Collection of Recipes and Ingredients A Menu has a Collection of Meals The relations can be depicted as In one of the pages, for a selected menu I need to display the effective nutrients information calculated based on its constituents (Meals, Recipes, Ingredients and the corresponding nutrients). As of now am using SQL Server to store the data and I am navigating the chain from my C# code, starting from each meal of the menu and then aggregating the nutrient values. I think this is not an efficient way as this calculation is being done every time the page is requested and the constituents change occasionally. I was thinking about a having a background service that maintains a table called MenuNutrients ({MenuId, NutrientId, Value}) and will populate/update this table with the effective nutrients when any of the component (Meal, Recipe, Ingredient) changes. I feel that a GraphDB would be a good fit for this requirement, but my exposure to NoSQL is limited. I want to know what are the alternative solutions/approaches to this requirement of displaying the nutrients of a given menu. Hope my description of the scenario is clear.

  • File manager (Nautilus) hangs or is ultra slow when listing contents of ssh/sftp server

    I used to use File -- Connect to server to connect to my remote ssh a lot before 12.04/11.10. But now in a fresh install of 12.04, whenever I try to access the remote files, nautilus either always hangs or is ultra slow (5 mins) in listing the directory contents. Most of the time I have to force quit or xkill. Mounting using SSHFS works fine. The ssh server is fast and it works fine via putty, mc (using fish) and normal terminal. I also installed nautilus in Lubuntu 12.04 (virtualbox) and to my surprise, browsing is fast and smooth. Both versions of nautilus are at 3.4.2 thus I am led to believe the problem might be lying somewhere in Ubuntu 12.04. But I am clueless. All suggestions welcome. I really need to solve this problem.

    Today I thought I would write a bit about delegates in C#. Up till recently I have managed to side step any real understanding of what delegates do and why they are useful – I mean, I know roughly what they do and have used them a lot, but I have never really got down dirty with them and mucked about. Recently however with my renewed interest in Silverlight delegates came up again as a possible solution to a particular problem, and suddenly I found myself opening a bland little console application to just see exactly how far I could take delegates with my limited knowledge. So, let’s first look at the MSDN definition of delegates… A delegate declaration defines a reference type that can be used to encapsulate a method with a specific signature. A delegate instance encapsulates a static or an instance method. Delegates are roughly similar to function pointers in C++; however, delegates are type-safe and secure. Well, don’t you love MSDN for such a useful definition. I must give it credit though… later on it really explains it a bit better by saying “A delegate lets you pass a function as a parameter. The type safety of delegates requires the function you pass as a delegate to have the same signature as the delegate declaration.” A little more reading up on delegates mentions that delegates are similar to interfaces in that they enable the separation of specification and implementation. A delegate declares a single method, while an interface declares a group of methods. So enough reading - lets look at some code and see a basic example of a delegate… Let’s assume we have a console application with a simple delegate declared called AdjustValue like below… class Program { private delegate int AdjustValue(int val); static void Main(string[] args) { } } In a sense, all we have said is that we will be creating one or more methods that follow the same pattern as AdjustValue – i.e. they will take one input value of type int and return an integer. We could then expand our code to have various methods that match the structure of our delegate AdjustValue (remember the structure is int xxx (int xxx)) class Program { private delegate int AdjustValue(int val); private static int Dbl(int val) { return val * 2; } private static int AlwaysOne(int val) { return 1; } static void Main(string[] args) { } }  Above I have expanded my project to have two methods, one called Dbl and the other AlwaysOne. Dbl always returns double the input val and AlwaysOne always returns 1. I could now declare a variable and assign it to be one of those functions, like the following… class Program { private delegate int AdjustValue(int val); private static int Dbl(int val) { return val * 2; } private static int AlwaysOne(int val) { return 1; } static void Main(string[] args) { AdjustValue myDelegate; myDelegate = Dbl; Console.WriteLine(myDelegate(1).ToString()); Console.ReadLine(); } } In this instance I have declared an instance of the AdjustValue delegate called myDelegate; I have then told myDelegate to point to the method Dbl, and then called myDelegate(1). What would the result be? Yes, in this instance it would be exactly the same as me calling the following code… static void Main(string[] args) { Console.WriteLine(Dbl(1).ToString()); Console.ReadLine(); }   So why all the extra work for delegates when we could just do what we did above and call the method directly? Well… that separation of specification to implementation comes to mind. So, this all seems pretty simple. Let’s take a slightly more complicated variation to the console application. Assume that my project is the same as the one previously except that my main method is adjusted as follows… static void Main(string[] args) { AdjustValue myDelegate; myDelegate = Dbl; myDelegate = AlwaysOne; Console.WriteLine(myDelegate(1).ToString()); Console.ReadLine(); } What would happen in this scenario? Quite simply “1” would be written to the console, the reason being that myDelegate was last pointing to the AlwaysOne method before it was called. Make sense? In a way, the myDelegate is a variable method that can be swapped and changed when needed. Let’s make the code a little more confusing by using a delegate in the declaration of another delegate as shown below… class Program { private delegate int AdjustValue(InputValue val); private delegate int InputValue(); private static int Dbl(InputValue val) { return val()*2; } private static int GetInputVal() { Console.WriteLine("Enter a whole number : "); return Convert.ToInt32(Console.ReadLine()); } static void Main(string[] args) { AdjustValue myDelegate; myDelegate = Dbl; Console.WriteLine(myDelegate(GetInputVal).ToString()); Console.ReadLine(); } }   Now it gets really interesting because it looks like we have passed a method into a function in the main method by declaring… Console.WriteLine(myDelegate(GetInputVal).ToString()); So, what it the output? Well, try take a guess on what will happen – then copy the code and see if you got it right. Well that brings me to the end of this short explanation of Delegates. Hopefully it made sense!
