• Why does firefox round-trip to the server to determine whether my files are modifed?

Why does Firefox issue this second request? In the first response, I said that the cache does not expire for a year (I intend to use query parameters whenever things change). Do I have to add another response header to prevent this extra roundtrip? Edit: It does not matter whether I press refresh, or whether I go to the page again (or a different URL, which references the same external files). Firefox does the same again. Also, I don't claim this to be a bug in FF, I just wonder if there is another header I can set which means "This document will never change, don't bother me again".

  Basically I have dataframe with two columns (target_id and fpkm). I want to keep only those row names in first column that are not duplicated. • PHP apache_request_headers() diagrees with reality (as confirmed by Firebug): why?

  I have written a web app in PHP which makes use of Ajax requests (made using YUI.util.Connect.asyncRequest). Most of the time, this works fine. The request is sent with an X-Requested-With value of XMLHttpRequest. My PHP controller code uses apache_request_headers() to check whether an incoming request is Ajax or not and all works well. But not always. Intermittently, I'm getting a situation where the Ajax request is sent (and Firebug confirms for me that the headers on the request include an X-Requested-With of XMLHttpRequest) but apache_request_headers() is not returning that header in its list. • Always-indexed MySQL indexing/searching replacements for InnoDB?

  I am using InnoDB for a MySQL table, and obviously queries using LIKE and RLIKE/REGEXP can take a lot of time. I've tried Spinx, and it works great, except I have to re-index context at intervals. I can re-index every minute, but I am wondering if there is either 1) a setting in Sphinx to keep records always indexed or 2) other software besides Sphinx that will keep records always indexed. I want it where that immediately upon inserting or updating a record, the index is updated.

  I'm building a Drupal theme up and want to know if there is a Drupalish way to add a css file only if the user has js turned off. This would ideally go in the theme.info file to keep it neat! Something like this would be ideal: conditional-stylesheets[if no javascript][all][] = nojs.css If this isn't possible then I'm going to keep all the css that needs JS out of the css files, and add it dynamically using JS but this seems a bit messy... Any ideas?

It simply means that Tomcat will always keep them in memory, right?

  I have a peculiar problem. My main.swf loads symbols from other swfs at runtime. If I keep all the swfs(main and others) on my server, things work fine. But if I keep all of them on a CDN, one particular symbol won't display occassionally. With flash tracer plugin for firefox I am able to see that all the symbols have been loaded and their z-indices are as they should be. What could possibly be an issue?

  Just wondering if its possible to set a default tablespace in postgres to keep indexes. Would like the databases to live on the default tablespace for postgres, however, would like to get the indexes on a different set of disks just to keep the i/o traffic separated. It does not appear to me that it can be done without going in and doing an ALTER index TABLESPACE command, and then the index is moved and will stay there, but the databases and indexes are part of a django app, so non-django intervention can cause some problems.
