  • Using java applet to send request with the client ip

    hi, i need to send a request to a website when a user submits their url, i tried using curl but it uses server ip which i dont want i have seen a website that is doing a similar job by using applet, users need to open a popup which contains the applet after they leave it open allow it to run it uses a port and then uses the localhost ip like so 127.0.0.1:64653 to send request and basicly curl by the user ip. i decompiled the applet the website was using and they were using java.net.ServerSocket and some other java code but i do not know anything about java. I would to know how this can be done.

  • Setting up a domain using WAMP and NameCheap's DNS service

    So, I've been working on this for far longer than I should be and I'm quite thoroughly perplexed and lost. I apologize if this turns out to be a facile question, but I'm entirely befuddled and very much in need of some guidance. Earlier today I registered a cheap .info domain on NameCheap just to play around with as I learn webdev. I have WAMP installed on my computer and I've been testing my projects through localhost. I thought it would be a good idea to have a domain at my disposal in order to understand how it works and better test my work. NameCheap has a complimentary DNS service (not that I entirely understand what DNS is, although I tried), so I'm using that. I direct both the "@" and "www" host names to my IP address, as shown in the below tutorial: https://www.namecheap.com/support/knowledgebase/article.aspx/319/78/how-can-i-setup-an-a-address-record-for-my-domain However, now when I go to the URL of the domain I bought, it confronts me with a login box that seems to be coming from my wifi network. How do I set this up so that it hosts the information in my WAMP server? Thanks in advance for any help, I really appreciate it. And, as a side-note, what should read (print or online) to better understand the structure of the internet? I've been studying HTML/CSS/Javascript, but I'm not sure where to look for pragmatic and comprehensive information on how the internet works and how to utilize it as a website administrator.   • Why does a simple ApplicationSetting PropertyBinding for a Form does not work in C#?

    My question involves this simple walkthrough shown in the article Preserve Size and Location of Windows Forms – Part I by Dennis Wallentin. This approach works 100% fine when using VB.NET. When using the same steps in C#, however, the settings within the Settings tab of the application's properties looks correct, and the app.config file looks right, but the values are not saved when you run it.   • Override Java System.currentTimeMillis

    Is there a way, either in code or with JVM arguments, to override the current time, as presented via System.currentTimeMillis, other than manually changing the system clock on the host machine? A little background: We have a system that runs a number of accounting jobs that revolve much of their logic around the current date (ie 1st of the month, 1st of the year, etc) Unfortunately, a lot of the legacy code calls functions such as new Date() or Calendar.getInstance(), both of which eventually call down to System.currentTimeMillis. For testing purposes, right now, we are stuck with manually updating the system clock to manipulate what time and date the code thinks that the test is being run. So my question is: Is there a way to override what is returned by System.currentTimeMillis? For example, to tell the JVM to automatically add or subtract some offset before returning from that method? Thanks in advance!

  • Retreiving data from MySQL with html/javaScript on one domain and the PHP file on the other

    I need to retrieve data from a MySQL database, and have it work one way for all types of servers. For example it should work on a server that runs no server side language, it should also work on LAMP, and IIS. I was thinking about using ajax and xmlhttprequest, but learned of the cross domain limitation. I also tried to just include the PHP in a tag, but it comes back with a syntax error in the HTML code created by the PHP file, even though it looks correct. Does anyone know how to fix either of these issues, or have a different way to go about it?

  • Code jumps out of a jar and runs? What is causing this?

    I am trying to get a sample program working with JUNG, a graphing tool in Java. I downloaded and referenced all the .jar files in eclipse so my project hierarchy looks like this: In Test.java I have the following code: public class Test { static public void main() { System.out.print("Hello"); }} For some reason though when I try to run it as a Java Application by right clicking on Jung test in the project hierarchy I am presented with a bunch of classes. My Test.java isn't on the list so if I just leave it as ** and press ok it starts running a program that is dynamically adding nodes and vertexes to a graph. I can't seem to figure out what code its actually executing. I know java but stuff like this with the jar files seems to be getting lost on me. Any ideas? Thanks

    There are plenty of programming languages out there, as you all may know. I am primarily looking for a list of programming languages WITH some very neat proof of concepts. I would really like to learn a new language, but whenever I dive into something new and popular, it isn't what I expected. Any tutorial out there will give you code, small examples, but won't show you the true power of the language. I am looking for examples that run entirely on the language that it is exemplifying. For example, If I said C#, I could possibly show you a complete C# app with backend queries, reports, tables, all with a nice interface. It would be completely reliant on the language that is provided, so no supporting languages. I understand that most languages are integrated with other languages in order to provide a richer application. Any links, charts, websites that may reflect this request is appreciated.

  • JQuery-tmpl Template Switching Not working.

    I'm trying to implement "more/less" functionality using the official jquery-tmpl plugin. I've looked at the examples, but I cannot seem to get the functionality to work in my own implementation. When I click on one of my "More" buttons, I seem to get an error thrown of: Uncaught TypeError: Property 'tmpl' of object #<an Object> is not a function This is my implementation here From what I can tell, the example I'm trying to replace is doing the following: Render the "Master" template On-click: Find the corresponding template object (tmplItem) to the clicked element. Pass in reference to a new template. Call the update function to re-render. Have I understood the documentation wrong? From what I can tell I'm doing the same thing as the example on the official documentation.

  • Every flash uploader giving bad progress values.

    The file upload script I wrote early last year for an internal website has been misbehaving oddly on a number of machines. On some machines it consistently works fine, on others it consistently misbehaves. I am having exactly the same problem with YUI Uploader, SWFUpload (2.2 and 2.5a), and Uploadify. On the misbehaving machines, the progress event (or callback as the case may be) is reporting the upload going far too quickly. It is progressing around 9 or 10MB/s, instead of the 50 or 60kb/s that is actually going on. The progress bar fills up very quickly, and then no more progress events are triggered. A few minutes later the completion event will trigger when the upload is actually done. I must emphasize that the file upload does proceed normally, even though the progress being reported is very wrong. The progress events are reporting a correct file size, but the reported amount uploaded is usually way too high, and it appears that it is always a multiple of 2^16 (65536). I'm only having this problem with Firefox 3.5 on Windows XP, all of which have various subversions of Flash 10. Has anyone heard of this happening, or have any idea what is going on? (I'm off to go file a number of bug reports, but hopefully someone here has some previous experience with this.)

    I'm trying to use GitNub, a graphical GUI for Git, and for some reason upon installing the software running the command 'nub' in the terminal doesn't seem to launch anything for me. I am running Mac OS X version 10.6.3 Gitnub version 0.9.1 I have copied the GitNub.app to my applications folder and created a new folder under /usr/local/ called "bin" to put the 'nub' executable inside of it.

  • Different Providers, different websites, still think I'm logged in on the same website.

    I have two web applications in the same solution. They both use different membership/profile and role providers. They are named differently. When I run the solution, and visit one website, and login everything is fine. I then go to the other solution and it thinks I am already logged in and the profile provider tries to load profile properties that do not exist. How can I keep them separate, so when I try to log in on one site, it doesn't think I'm still logged in on the other.

  • Unable to add item to dataset in Linq to SQL

    I am having an issue adding an item to my dataset in Linq to SQL. I am using the exact same method in other tables with no problem. I suspect I know the problem but cannot find an answer (I also suspect all i really need is the right search term for Google). Please keep in mind this is a learning project (Although it is in use in a business) I have posted my code and datacontext below. What I am doing is: Create a view model (Relevant bits are shown) and a simple wpf window that allows editing of 3 properties that are bound to the category object. Category is from the datacontext. Edit works fine but add does not. If I check GetChangeSet() just before the db.submitChanges() call there are no adds, edits or deletes. I suspect an issue with the fact that a Category added without a Subcategory would be an orphan but I cannot seem to find the solution.   • Deterministic key serialization

    I'm writing a mapping class which uses SQLite as the storage backend. I am currently allowing only basestring keys but it would be nice if I could use a couple more types hopefully up to anything that is hashable (ie. same requirements as the builtin dict). To that end I would like to derive a deterministic serialization scheme. Ideally, I would like to know if any implementation/protocol combination of pickle is deterministic for hashable objects (e.g. can only use cPickle with protocol 0). Another option is to use repr to dump and ast.literal_eval to load. This would only be valid for builtin hashable types. I have written a function to determine if a given key would survive this process (it is rather conservative on the types it allows): def is_reprable_key(key): return type(key) in (int, str, unicode) or (type(key) == tuple and all( is_reprable_key(x) for x in key)) The question for this method is if repr itself is deterministic for the types that I have allowed here. I believe this would not survive the 2/3 version barrier due to the change in str/unicode literals. This also would not work for integers where 2**32 - 1 < x < 2**64 jumping between 32 and 64 bit platforms. Are there any other conditions (ie. do strings serialize differently under different conditions)? (If this all fails miserably then I can store the hash of the key along with the pickle of both the key and value, then iterate across rows that have a matching hash looking for one that unpickles to the expected key, but that really does complicate a few other things and I would rather not do it.) Any insights?
