    I'm trying to set up a batch file to automatically deploy a php app to a web server. Basically, what I want is an entirely automated process: I would just give it a revision number from the repository and it would then export the files, upload via ftp and then update deployment info at the repo host (codebase). However, I'm starting from scratch here. How would I set up a batch file to accept a variable when it was run? For example, the command myfile.bat /revision 42 should deploy revision 42 to my server. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

    I often want to include default values in Puppet templates. I was hoping that given a class like this: class myclass ($a_variable=undef) { file { '/tmp/myfile': content => template('myclass/myfile.erb'), } } I could make a template like this: a_variable = <%= a_variable || "a default value" %> Unfortunately, undef in Puppet doesn't translate to a Ruby nil value in the context of the template, so this doesn't actually work. What is the canonical way of handling default values in Puppet templates? I can set the default value to an empty string and then use the empty? test... a variable = <%= a_variable.empty? ? "a default value" : a_variable %> ...but that seems a little clunky.

    I whould like this simple rewrite rule: /somefolder/mypage.aspx?myid=4343&tab=overview to be redirected to: /folder/4343/overview/ I looked for some solutions and none actually worked.. I tried: rewrite ^/somefolder/mypage.aspx?myid=(.*)&tab=overview$ /folder/$1/overview permanent; and rewrite ^/somefolder/mypage\.aspx\?myid=(.*)&tab=overview$ /folder/$1/overview permanent; What am I doing wrong? I'm getting 404 (simpler rules works just fine..) Thanks

    I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find a solution that works. A website has switched CMS services, but has the same domain, how do I set up an nginx rewrite for a single page? E.g. Old Page http://sitedomain.co.uk/content/unique-page-name New page http://sitedomain.co.uk/new-name/unique-page-name Please note, I don't want everything within the content page to be redirected, but literally just the url mentioned above. I have about 9 redirects to set up, non of which fit in a pattern. Thanks! Edit: I found this solution, which seems to be working, except for the fact that it redirects without a slash: if ( $request_filename ~ content/unique-page-name/ ) { rewrite ^ http://sitedomain.co.uk/new-name/unique-page-name/? permanent; } But this redirects to: http://sitedomain.co.uknew-name/unique-page-name/

  • Puppet variables best practice, generalise or specialise?

    I'm trying to figure out which things should be in git within the puppet manifest and which should be in env vars like FACTER_my_var and use that in the manifest instead. Scenario: you are deploying 3 php apps and you've already built all the layers up to the app in other manifests (base system, php extensions, users, etc), and all that's left is installing the correct app (from an apt repo) and creating a vhost. I'm tempted to have something along the lines of: apache::vhost { $::project_hostname: priority => '10', port => '80', docroot => $::project_document_root, logroot => "/var/log/apache2/${$::project_name}", serveradmin => '[email protected]', require => Package[httpd], ssl => false, override => 'all', setenv => ["APP_KERNEL dev"] } This would run on each server, and the FACTER_project_* vars would be set on a per server basis. An obvious restriction of this would be that you can't run more than one app with this specific example. Or would you rather have project_x.pp, project_y.pp which have hardcoded paths and names?

  • mod_rewrite directory path to deeper directory

    I don't usually work with LAMP and am a bit stumped getting a site working locally. The site is set up to be used via localhost: 1) http://localhost/mysite However, the way the site files are physically on the server the root is located as such: 2) /var/www/mysite/trunk/site I'm trying to figure out a way where I could type #1 but have apache actually looking for the files in #2 so that all of the asset/page links in the web application work. Is mod_rewrite the solution? If so, I'm stumped on the syntax. I have this but it won't work (due, I assume, to it causing an infinite loop) RewriteRule ^mysite/ mysite/trunk/site I have a hunch I need to sprinkle on some regex?

  • IIS virtual location path

    Sorry in advance, for this seems to be a very noobish question and should be easily fixable, yet I can't work it out: I am setting up windows authentication for a website running on IIS 8.5: The Yii framework of the website takes input like http://localhost/mywebsite/index.php/site/loginand processes it, using the "login" action of the "site" Controller. I flipped on URL Rewrite to have nicer URLs, leaving the URL with /mywebsite/site/login. Now I need to set up windows authentication for this location. Very specifically ONLY for this very exact location. Only the /site/login location of mywebsite needs to have authentication. Every other location needs to have anonymous. Since it is a "virtual location", I don't know how to do it. I can set up win-auth for files, directories, virtual directories, etc. but not for virtual locations that do not map to any file but only to a Controller/Action in Yii. The working counterpart in Apache is but i can't "translate this into IIS". I have read that IIS does have the "~" symbol but I just couldn't make it work yet. Could it be used to achieve authentication on a location basis? I have looked around virtual directories as well, which seem to simply be a kind of "symlink" to actual folders on the harddrive. Can they be used differently to "create a virtual folder in a location that doesn't really exist to manage its properties"? Help is much appreciated.

I downloaded the file DAT Package For Use with Mcafee AutoUpdate Architect & ePO 3.0 from http://www.mcafee.com/apps/downloads/security-updates/security-updates.aspx. When I try to update it is giving an error Error occurred while downloading file SiteStat.xml. So how fix it?

Now while developing the application using the Visual Studio 2008 then Developer Web Server it provides when build the site was able to access the location. However when the site is deployed on the IIS its saying Unable to access the file because of insufficient permissions. I would like to edit the code so that instead of using the currently selected folder as the source for the messages, there would be a hard-coded folder - something like Set Messages = NS.Folders("Personal Folders").Folders("Moved"). I'm a VBA rookie and tried just replacing the Set Messages line with this which resulted in a Run-time error '13': Type mismatch which I think refers to a mismatch of the Dim Messages and the Set Messages commands. I've tried using different Dim definitions with no luck. I'm guessing that someone who knows VBA will see the way to do this right away. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Shoretel Upgrade Path

    I currently have a Shoretel Server running Server 2003 x32 as a virtual machine paired with a ShoreGear 90 switch and another unused switch of the same model being reserved for manual failover. I am getting the software mailed to me from my partner, but with limited support since the server is in a relatively remote area. I am tempted to upgrade the OS at the same time as performing the upgrade, but want to know if there are any horror stories or advice I should know about before diving in. I'm upgrading from Shoretel 9.2 Build. I will be upgrading first to version 10.1 then finally to 11.1. The system has been bullet proof since it was installed and we are upgrading mainly to get a client that is a little more modern. My question boils down to: Should I even bother with an OS upgrade or even possibly a fresh install of Windows with an install of Shoretel 11.1 and just transfer the configuration? Should I just stay with Server 2003 since it is supported in my target version of Shoretel and the upgrade will be more than enough to keep me busy as a novice?

    What are the best settings to tune so that Linux can handle a very large amount of TCP connections such as would be seen by a proxy server or a webserver? I'm using Centos6 and squid and am seeing a large amount of TIME_WAIT connections backing up until finally the machine stops responding. The machine isn't loaded at the time, and is having trouble making ingoing and outgoing connections. I've had several suggestions of tuning /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_tw_reuse and /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_tw_reuse but they mention bad interactions with load balancers and NAT both of which are used in my situation.

This is working great, however it would be ideal if in the message body, the Event contents could be placed. I have tried using $eventdescription and %eventdescription%, but those are just shots in the dark. Any amount of googling produces no results. Does anyone know if this is possible? Update: Sparks' suggestion below is a step in the right direction I believe, however that method doesn't seem to work for all values. For example, I can pull the RecordID, Severity and Channel as shown, but I can't use the same method to retreive the EventID, or most importantly the description.   • Proper upgrade path for Windows 7 to Windows 8 when the directory setup is non-standard

    I have both a HDD and a SSD in my computer and after installing Windows I moved things around a little to ensure that the OS is on the SSD but my user profile resides on the SSD (with a few exceptions). I used junction points heavily for that. Windows and most applications are fine with that and it works well. Now I wonder whether I can in-place upgrade this to Windows 8 while retaining that exact setup or whether there is anything I can do to ease the upgrade process.

  • Applications starts very slowly from a network path

    Hi We have a windows 2008 server which hosts the network share \\srvcompany\lib. This share contains several applications needed for the daily business. Every client/user (all win xp) has shortcuts on the desktop to these apps. We have the problem that at several (but not all) clients the apps starts very slowly. If I copy the application's programm files to a local folder then they'll start fastly. When I watch the memory usage in the task manager on such a "slow" machine while an applications starts I notice that the memory usage grows much slowier than when I start the app from a "fast" machine. But when I copy files with Windows Explorer from this share, the speed is nearly the same. I've also checked the network driver, both tested clients have the same network card with the same driver version. Has anyone an idea where or what I should check next to solve this problem?   • Map path server with workgroup to other server with domain

    I have the following situation, and I need some help to setup properly I have two VPS (hosted with the same provider, maximumasp). Server A is 2008R2, set with WORKGROUP, and server B is 2012, set with domain, maximumasp.local. On server A I have an old web app, which uses a special folder, c:\MyUploads, to store uploaded files. App is using this using an appSetting. It will be kept running for a while for safety / compatibility reasons. I installed a new version of the application on server B, running under AppPoolIdentity. Both instances of the app (A and B) will connect to the same database, so I need them to share also the access to upload folder c:\MyUploads. How should I setup the app on machine B to access the folder c:\MyUploads ? My idea is to share the folder as \A\MyUploads, and then map it to server B. But the problem is, I don't know to give Read/write to c:\MyUploads on machine A to IIS AppPools\ on machine B I was trying a test, and shared the c:\MyUploads to Everyone, ReadWrite. I was able to access it from machine B using \\MyUploads But when app from machine B tried to access a file, it gave error. Any idea how can I accomplish this? Some advice on best practices for such situation would be great. Thank you

    I'm comparing two large datasets containing strings in excel. Column A contains the numbers 1-1,000,000. Column B contains 1,000,000 strings, neatly organized in the desired order. Column C contains 100,000 randomly organized strings, that have identical values somewhere in column B. Example: A B C D 1 String1 String642 2 String2 String11 3 String3 String8000 4 String4 String78 What I'd like to do is find duplicate values in columns B and C then output the Column A value that corresponds with the string in Column C into Column D.
