I have a form file upload. When the users goes to upload an image, it displays all files on their computer. How can I make the HTML upload dialog window to only display JPG, GIF and PNGs?
I have to render some text to a web page. The text is coming from sources outside my control and it is formatted using \n and\t
Now \n can be replaced by a <br> but what about \t. A brief search reveals there is no way to render tab characters in html, bu there has to be a workaround. Anyone?
Hi,
I've read that you can disable (make physically unclickable) a html button simply but appending 'disable' to its tag, but not as an attribute, as follows:
<input type="button" name=myButton value="disable" disabled>
Since this setting is not an attribute, how can I add this in dynamically via JavaScript to disable a button that was previously enabled?
I'm coding a WYSIWYG editor width designMode="on" on a iframe. The editor works fine and i store the code as is in the database.
Before outputing the html i need to "clean" with php on the server-side to avoid cross-site-scripting and other scary things. Is there some sort of best practice on how to do this? What tags can be dangerous?
UPDATE: Typo fixed, it's What You See Is What You Get. Nothing new :)
Looking for example code that uses semantic HTML that I can use to test stylesheets with. The version/doctype is unimportant though HTML5 would be great. When I say "comprehensive" - I am looking for use of definition lists, forms, tables, plus all the usual.
Thanks
In HTML, I have an object tag as follows:
<OBJECT ID="objectid" CLASSID="some-class-id" CODEBASE="some-codebase">
I have written a function in JavaScript to access this object.
I checked the null value as follows:
if(objectid==null){-----}
i want to check if the object is undefined or is empty. Do we have any functions to check so?
I'm looking for a tool / script which validates the template files (php variables + html is mixed). I have tried 'tidy' but the results are not consistent as Eclipse and moreover Tidy doesn't handle such dynamic template files very well. So can anyone point me out in right direction?
Hello,
I have a transparent table with width:100% which contains some html content.
I use the table in order to position a content element on the screen center.
The table captures mouse events, and the user can't press on links which are positioned beneath it (although it is transparent).
Is there a way to tell the browser to ignore events on the table?
I want to capture events only from the content inside the table (and from the rest of the site).
Thanks
Yaron

Is is possible to display html document in J2ME mobile app? Is it possible using for example WebKit? I was looking for some webkit's j2me implementation or some tutorial or advice in google but found nothing.
I've been doing some html scraping in PHP using regular expressions. This works, but the result is finicky and fragile. Has anyone used any packages that provide a more robust solution? A config driven solution would be ideal, but I'm not picky.
I am trying to understand what the process is of turning HTML into a PDF/Postscript programmatically
All Google searches turn up libraries to do this, but I am more interested in the actual process required.
I know you could just set up a Postscript printer and print directly to that, but some of these libraries appear to create the PDF on the fly to allow previews etc.
has anyone had any experience in this, or can provide any guidance?
Hello,
Could anyone specify what is the need and use of the Document Type Definition in HTML pages. What is the advantages of it? I searched through the Net and found the results to be little bit confusing. Please someone highlight
What's the HTML character entity for the # sign? I've looked around for "pound" (keeps returning the currency), and "hash" and "number", but what I try doesn't seem to turn into the right character.
My HTML page contains many tables,with numerous tr and td. While rendering in IE8/IE9 the
its very slow but in Firefox its fast. I had read somewhere while drawing tables if the tables are not of fixed width, IE calculates the width every time and renders so usually slow.
Right now i am adding Table style="table-layout:fixed" which made me feel its faster.
Are there any similar styles that can be added to tr and td as well.Also
suggest if there any other attribtes that can be added to a table
I have an html textarea that is of fixed width, but variable height. I would like to set overflow:scroll and be able to show a vertical scrollbar, but not a horizontal one. I am not able to use overflow:auto due to other things specific to my situation.
I know there is no way using CSS 2 to show only vertical but not horizontal scrollbars. Is there anything I can do with javascript to hide the horizontal scrollbar?
Hello

Say I make a static class like following with an extension method:
public static class MyStaticExtensionClass
{
private static readonly Dictionary<int, SomeClass> AlgoMgmtDict
= new Dictionary<int, SomeClass>();
public static OutputClass ToOutput(this InputClass input)
{
// clears up the dict
// does some kind of transform over the input class
// return an OutputClass object
}
}
In a multi user system, will the state management dictionary fail to provide correct values for the transform algorithm? Will a regular class be a better design or shoving the Dictionary inside the method a better design?

Is there a way to force the dropdown direction of a select element in HTML down?
At the moment we have a product display page, the select box appears below the halfway mark of the screen in a widescreen resolution and therefore makes the dropdown go up.
Is this possible? Thanks.
