    I have a table which has a table like this. Month-----Book_Type-----sold_in_Dollars Jan----------A------------ 100 Jan----------B------------ 120 Feb----------A------------ 50 Mar----------A------------ 60 Mar----------B------------ 30 and so on I have to calculate the expected sales for each month and book type based on the last 2 months sales. So for March and type A it would be (100+50)/2 = 75 For March and type B it is 120/1 since no data for Feb is there. I was trying to use the lag function but it wouldn't work since there is data missing in a few rows. Any ideas on this?

    Sorry for the dramatic sounding title, just wanted to know if there is a way to prevent all types of PHP commands from executing EXCEPT one. For example, now when I kill a script using die() my pages look half broken because the bottom part of the page's html failed to load since it was being brought in using the include() function. So is there a way to tell PHP "don't allow any more commands to be executed except the include function" ?

    Are there any alternatives to the :not css3 selector that are compliant with IE8 (and quirks mode). Either in css or javascript/jquery that emulates the selector or something similar. I am using *:not as follows below. Feel free to recommend a solution that avoids the use of :not completely. @media screen { #printable { visibility: hidden; } } @media print { *:not(#printable) { visibility: hidden; } #printable { position: absolute; visibility: visible; } } Note that the use of :not is tied to the use of @media print so just using a simple jQuery solution to apply css to $(":not(#printable)") won't work without being clever. How can i get list of all values? I am using c# 3.5. Is there lambda expression or something i can use to get that?

    I have a simple join in a query however I need to have a condition on both of the tables "confirmed='yes'" but if one of the tables doesn't have any that match the query returns with no rows.   • Reflection alternative for switch on enum in order to select namespace/class

    Hi, I have an interface named IHarvester. There are 3 implementations of that interface, each under their own namespace: Google Yahoo Bing A HarvesterManager uses the given harvester. It knows the interface and all 3 implementations. I want some way of letting the class user say in which harvester it wants to use. And in the code select that implementation, without a switch-case implementation. Can reflection save my day? Here is the code bits: // repeat for each harvester namespace Harvester.Google { public abstract class Fetcher : BaseHarvester, IInfoHarvester {...} } public enum HarvestingSource { Google, Yahoo, Bing, } class HarvesterManager { public HarvestingSource PreferedSource {get;set;} public HarvestSomthing() { switch (PreferedSource) .... // awful... } } Thanks. I will give my 2 cents of why I want to change this. There several people writing harvesters, I want them to focus only on building more harvesters, without ever needing to update the enum, or at worst, update only the enum.

  • Better alternative for PipedReader/PipedWriter?

    I need to have a buffered char stream, into which I write in one thread and from which I read in another thread. Right now I'm using PipedReader and PipedWriter for it, but those classes cause a performance problem: PipedReader does a wait(1000) when its internal buffer is empty, which causes my application to lag visibly. Would there be some library which does the same thing as PipedReader/PipedWriter, but with better performance? Or will I have to implement my own wheels?

  • Choosing an alternative ( visual basic) high level programming language

    I used to be visual basic 6 programmer, i was pleased with visual basic : it is high level language that do stuff fast,easy to learn, easy to do stuff in,you can drag and drop stuff to the form and write your code,it is simply amazing.however microsoft buried VB6 and pointed us to VB.NET which is so different that it is not the old VB anymore.I didn't like what microsoft did and would like to look somewhere AWAY from microsoft and from any other proprietary language . I would like to look into a similar language that is easy,cross platform (windows / Linux), object oriented, visual design, non proprietary and compile (for some guarding against reverse engineering). i am freelancer so the choice is entirely mine,i don't care about performance of programs, the time taken to develop a given programs is much more important. desktop / database / GUI /networking programming is what i am looking for. so any such language offered by our open source community ? thank you so much

    I have an input field whose name is an MD5 string e.g.: <input type="hidden" name="7815696ecbf1c96e6894b779456d330e" value="1"> Now I understand that having a number as the first letter in an input field name is generally bad practice, but are there any side-effects to this such as a certain browser won't send it in the POST request?

  • Alternative to CURL due to long waiting

    Hey Guys I currently run a PHP-script using CURL to send data to another server, to do run a PHP-script that could take up to a minute to run. This server doesn't give any data back. But the CURL-request still has to wait for it to complete, and then it loads the rest of the orignal page. I would like my PHP-script to just send the data to the other server and then not wait for an answer. So my question is how should I solve this? I have read that CURL always has to wait. What are your suggestions? Thank You!

In the example underneath I use self.__class__.__name__, but of course this returns the name of the class of which self is an instance and not class that contains the test() method code. b.test() will print 'B' while I would like to get 'A'.   • alternative for .click() method in firefox

    I have a href from that i am giving out a popup , and i want to activate this on my body overload . I am using "document.getElementbyId("myelement").click()" this is working fine in IE but FireFox is not supporting it. And i know that .click() will not be taken by firefox , but i dont have any other way to do it. Can u please suggest me with a workaround that will be accepted by IE as well as FF.
