    Hi, I have a form which is in an updatePanel and I have a span with hidden loading image, which I want to show when user clicks to submit button but I first need to check if page is valid on client side. Also I'm making loading span visible with jQuery. My current solution is to just time the start/stop recording events on the User Interface (literally the time the user hits record, then hits stop recording.) Given a .aac audio file, is there some library call in Objective-C or Python to determine its length?

However, most of my users are locked into using IE6 and the performance of the jQuery DatePicker is a little sluggish in this browser. Can anyone recommend an alternate JavaScript date picker, or any means of improving the display performance of the jQuery DatePicker?

  • Lightbox image / link URL

    Basically I have a slightly non-standard implementation of FancyBox. By default you have to include a link to the large version of the image so that the Lightbox can display it. However, in my implementation, the image link URLs point to a script rather than directly to the image file. So for example, instead of: <a href="mysite/images/myimage.jpg" rel="gallery"> I have: <a href="mysite/photos/view/abc123" rel="gallery"> The above URL points to a function: public function actionPhotos($view) { $photo=Photo::model()->find('name=:name', array(':name'=>$view)); if(!empty($photo)) { $this->renderPartial('_photo', array('photo'=>$photo, true)); } } The "$this-renderPartial()" bit simply calls a layout file which includes a standard HTML tag to output. Now when the user clicks on a thumbnail, the above function is called and the large image is displayed in the Lightbox. Now if the user right clicks on the thumbnail and selects "open in new tab/window" then the image is displayed in the browser as per normal, i.e. just the image. I want to change this so that it displays the image within a layout. In the above code I can include the following and put it in an IF statement: $this->render('photos', array('photo'=>$photo)); This will call the layout file "photos" which contains the layout to display the image in. I have a specific limitation for this - the image URL must remain the same, i.e. no additional GET variables in the URL. However if we can pass in a GET variable in the background then that is OK. I will most likely need to change my function above so that it calls a different file for this functionality. EDIT: To demonstrate exactly what I am trying to do, check out the following: http://www.starnow.co.uk/KimberleyMarren Go to the photos tab and hover over a thumbnail - note the URL. Click the thumbnail and it will open up in the Lightbox. Next right click on that same thumbnail and select "open in new tab/new window". You will notice that the image is now displayed in a layout. So that same URL is used for displaying the image in the Lightbox and on its own page. The way StarNow have done this is using some crazy long JavaScript functionality, which I'm not too keen on replicating.

    If I have two interfaces , both quite different in their purposes , but with same method signature , how do I make a class implement both without being forced to write a single method that serves for the both the interfaces and writing some convoluted logic in the method implementation that checks for which type of object the call is being made and invoke proper code ? In C# , this is overcome by what is called as explicit interface implementation. Is there any equivalent way in Java ?

  • How to pass the 'argument-line' of one PowerShell function to another?

    I'm trying to write some PowerShell functions that do some stuff and then transparently call through to existing built-in function. I want to pass along all the arguments untouched. I don't want to have to know any details of the arguments. I tired using 'splat' to do this with @args but that didn't work as I expected. In the example below, I've written a toy function called myls which supposed to print hello! and then call the same built-in function, Get-ChildItem, that the built-in alias ls calls with the rest of the argument line intact. What I have so far works pretty well: function myls { Write-Output "hello!" Invoke-Expression("Get-ChildItem "+$MyInvocation.UnboundArguments -join " ") } A correct version of myls should be able to handle being called with no arguments, with one argument, with named arguments, from a line containing multiple semi-colon delimited commands, and with variables in the arguments including string variables containing spaces.     I am using SoapUI to do performance testing of some services over JMS using WebSphere MQ as the JMS Provider. SoapUI uses HermesJMS to provide the JMS Connection details for the JMS Endpoint. I've noticed that when I call a request from SoapUI the JMS Connection is never closed. This results in hundreds of SYSTEM.DEF.SVRCONN channel connections. It seems to be specific to SoapUI as HermeJMS doesn't exhibit this behaviour. Has anyone else seen this?

    When writing server-side code you need to explicitly stop execution after sending a "Location: ..." header to the client or your code will continue to execute in the background. But what about when you change window.location in a client-side script? Does this immediately stop execution of the current script or is it up to the programmer to make sure that any code located after this call is not reached?

    I'm familiar with WideCharToMultiByte and MultiByteToWideChar conversions and could use these to do something like: UTF8 - UTF16 - 1252 I know that iconv will do what I need, but does anybody know of any MS libs that will allow this in a single call? I should probably just pull in the iconv library, but am feeling lazy. Thanks

    I was hoping to do something like this, but it appears to be illegal in C#: public Collection MethodThatFetchesSomething<T>() where T : SomeBaseClass { return T.StaticMethodOnSomeBaseClassThatReturnsCollection(); } I get a compile-time error: "'T' is a 'type parameter', which is not valid in the given context." Given a generic type parameter, how can I call a static method on the generic class? The static method has to be available, given the constraint.

  • How can I get make JavaScript code execution to wait until an AJAX request with script is loaded and executed?

    In my application, I am using Ext.Ajax.request to load scripts which I execute with eval. The problem is that since it takes time for the AJAX request to complete, code that is executed afterward which needs variables which are in the script loaded in via AJAX. In this example, I show how this is the case.     I want to publish a post to user's wall..for this first i am making user to log in and getting the session id also...but in order to publish i need the user to grant me publish_stream permission..so immmediately after i am obtaining auth_token by capturing url of the login success screen, i am making call to http://www.facebook.com/connect/prompt%5Fpermissions.php? with "api_key","ext_perm","display" as parameteres..but when the above url is redirected and displayed on BrowserField i am seeing "Incompatible web browser " instead of the permission granting dialog or popup..i will be greatful if anyone can help...thanx a lot

  • How can arguments to variadic functions be passed by reference in PHP?

    Assuming it's possible, how would one pass arguments by reference to a variadic function without generating a warning in PHP? We can no longer use the '&' operator in a function call, otherwise I'd accept that (even though it would be error prone, should a coder forget it). What inspired this is are old MySQLi wrapper classes that I unearthed (these days, I'd just use PDO). Constant-arity functions (e.g. bind_param) can be explicitly defined, allowing for pass-by-reference. bind_result, however, needs all arguments to be pass-by-reference. If you call bind_result on an instance of MySQLi_stmt_throwing as-is, the arguments are passed by value and the binding won't take. try { $id = Null; $stmt = $db->prepare('SELECT id FROM tbl WHERE ...'); $stmt->execute() $stmt->bind_result($id); // $id is still null at this point ... } catch (DBException $exc) { ... } Since the above classes are no longer in use, this question is merely a matter of curiosity. Alternate approaches to the wrapper classes are not relevant. Defining a method with a bunch of arguments taking Null default values is not correct (what if you define 20 arguments, but the function is called with 21?). Answers don't even need to be written in terms of MySQL_stmt_throwing; it exists simply to provide a concrete example.
