  • Package visible in Synaptic but not in aptitude?

    I can see libfreeimage3-dev in synaptic and have installed it from there, but what is it that I can't see it from the command line?   • connecting two routers

    I have two routers, both wireless, that i wish to connect together. As it stands Router A is connected via a micro filter into the phone line which i access the web wirelessly. What I want to achieve is to connect Router B to A so I can hardwire My TV and Sky (cable) Box into B and simultaneously browse the web wirelessly via router A. Is this possible? If so I'd appreciate the help on this one to save me running 50ft cable under the carpet!!! PS I'm using Mac OS.

  • Apache Simple Configuration Issue: Setting up per-user directory permission denied problem

    Hello. I am just getting Apache 2.2 running on Fedora 13 Beta 64-bit. I am running into issues setting my per-user directory. The goal is to make localhost/~user map to /home/~user/public_html. I think that I have the permissions right because I have 755 to /home/~user, and I have 755 to /home/~user/public_html/ and I have 777 for all contents inside of /home/~user/public_html/ recursively set. My mod_userdir configuration looks like this: <IfModule mod_userdir.c> # # UserDir is disabled by default since it can confirm the presence # of a username on the system (depending on home directory # permissions). # UserDir disabled root UserDir enabled huckphin # # To enable requests to /~user/ to serve the user's public_html # directory, remove the "UserDir disabled" line above, and uncomment # the following line instead: # UserDir public_html The error that I am seeing in the error log is this: [Sat May 15 09:54:29 2010] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] (13)Permission denied: access to /~huckphin/index.html denied When I login as the apache user, I know that /~huckphin does not exist, and this is not what I want. I want it to be accessing ~huckphin, not /~huckphin. What do I need to change on my configuration for this to work? [Added after comments] Hi Andol, thank you for your suggestions. So, first off, you said that you assume that I have the userdir module enabled, but I am not sure what that means exactly. That could be part of the problem. I do have the Module loaded, using the LoadModule directive. I have this: LoadModule userdir_module modules/mod_userdir.so I also did a find on where mod_userdir is, and I found it located here: [huckphin@crhyner-workbox]/% find / . -name '*mod_userdir.so*' 2> /dev/null /usr/lib64/lighttpd/mod_userdir.so /usr/lib64/httpd/modules/mod_userdir.so Is there something else I need to enable? Also, my directory configuration was mentioned. I have uncommented the default configuration given. I have not looked into what all of the configurations mean, and this could probably explain the issue.   • stsadm crash after sps07 to sps10 upgrade

    Hi all I have made an upgrade from sps07 to sps10 and I am trying now to make backups of sps10 using the command stsadm -o backup -directory c:\backup -backupmethod full The problem that Occurs is that stsadm crashes when trying todo the backup. Even worse is that when I try just to start stsadm from the command line I get following error. Unhanded exception: System.MissingMethodException: Methode not found: "Void Microsoft.SharePoint.SPRequestManager.Dispose()".at Microsoft.SharePoint.StsAdmin.SPStsAdmin.Main(String[] args) Holy moly what is happening?!

    Please help me find a good solution for this problem. We have n boxes with 3 dimensions. We can orient them and we want to put them on top of another to have a maximun height. We can put a box on top of an other box, if 2 dimensions (width and lenght) are lower than the dimensions of the box below.   • Cannot kill firefox in OSX 10.6

    I tried killing Firefox 3.5 from OSX command line using "kill -9 pid", and the process was still running mini-2:~ prompt$ ps -ef | grep firefox 501 15087 183 0 0:00.00 ?? 0:00.00 (firefox-bin) After this, I could not start firefox (as it said Firefox is already running) nor can I kill firefox (again). What is going on? How can I fix this (besides logging of or restarting my machine) ?

    Is it possible to create a hardware virtual machine (HVM) AMI from an existing paravirtual (PV) AMI. My initially thought was to start a new PV instance and use the ec2-create-image command to create a new image while specifying HVM as the virutalization type. However, ec2-create-image does not have a command line parameter to specify the virtualization type. Is there another way to go about doing this?

  • jQuery UI sortable issue with helper offset value being same as scroll offset on FireFox only

    I have a problem with a jQuery UI 1.7.2 sortable list in Firefox, IE7-8 work fine. When I'm scrolled down a bit, the helper element seems to have an offset of the same height that I'm scrolled down which makes it impossible to see which item you originally started dragging. How do I fix this or work around the issue? If there is no fix what is a really good alternative drag-able plugin?   • Is there an HTML browser rendering engine for Ruby?

    Given a URL, I would like to be able to render the returned HTML to know width and height for each div, fonts' size for each piece of text, color of each element, position of each element on screen, etc. A possible approach could be traversing the DOM tree with Hpricot and checking CSS style by parsing the associated stylesheet using css_parser gem. But this would not consider default styles, inheritance, floats, etc. In Java there's Cobra, a Java Web Renderer, which is able to render a web page and query attributes like width, font size, etc. for each fragment. I could use Cobra with JRuby or similar solutions, but prefer a Ruby native tool. Is there any library like this for Ruby?

    I am trying to activate the CDN tools plugin and I keep getting the following error: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 30720 bytes) in /srv/www/www.triathleteskitchen.com/wp-content/plugins/cdn-tools/cdn_classes/cloudfiles/cloudfiles_http.php on line 252 After extensive research on this issue in which I updated both of the following settings: max_execution_time = 300 memory_limit = 128M and verified the settings are active by setting up a dump phpinfo() page.     When I run PSEXEC to launch a process on a remote machine, if I specify the password in the command line it fails with: PsExec could not start cmd.exe on web1928: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. psexec \\web1928 -u remoteexec -p mypassword "cmd.exe" If I just specify: psexec \\web1928 -u remoteexec "cmd.exe" and type in the password it works just fine. The originating server is Windows 2003 and the remote server is Windows 2008 SP2.

    I can't use the ia64-version of devcon.exe on my Windows7 professional x64 (AMD CPU). error message tells me, that the version of this applcation is not suitable for this version of windows and I should check whether I need to use a x64 or x86 version of this application. The x86 version starts correctly, but all operations (remove, restart, disable etc) fail. Running from a command line with full privileges. Any ideas how to solve this?

    I have a WPF BitmapImage which I loaded from a .JPG file, as follows: this.m_image1.Source = new BitmapImage(new Uri(path)); I want to query as to what the colour is at specific points. For example, what is the RGB value at pixel (65,32)? How do I go about this? I was taking this approach: ImageSource ims = m_image1.Source; BitmapImage bitmapImage = (BitmapImage)ims; int height = bitmapImage.PixelHeight; int width = bitmapImage.PixelWidth; int nStride = (bitmapImage.PixelWidth * bitmapImage.Format.BitsPerPixel + 7) / 8; byte[] pixelByteArray = new byte[bitmapImage.PixelHeight * nStride]; bitmapImage.CopyPixels(pixelByteArray, nStride, 0); Though I will confess there's a bit of monkey-see, monkey do going on with this code.     I'm trying to upgrade an evaluation instance of SQL Server 2008 to a fully licensed instance of SQL Server 2008 R2. I made it most of the way through the installer, but I'm getting stopped at the Upgrade Rules page - the SQL Server Analysis Services Upgrade Service Functional Check is failing. The specific error I get: Rule "SQL Server Analysis Services Upgrade Service Functional Check" failed. The current instance of the SQL Server Analysis Services service cannot be upgraded because the Analysis Services service is disabled or not online. Please start the service and then run the upgrade rules check again. Simple enough - just need to start the service. Here's where it gets troublesome. When I open Services and go to start the SQL Server Analysis Services (MSSQLSERVER) service, it provides me the following message: The SQL Server Analysis Services (MSSQLSERVER) service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs. Trying from the command line as Administrator yields: PS C:\Windows\System32 net start MSSQLServerOLAPService The SQL Server Analysis Services (MSSQLSERVER) service is starting... The SQL Server Analysis Services (MSSQLSERVER) service could not be started. The service did not report an error. More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3534. I've tried changing the logon setting of this service to Administrator, a user with admin privileges, and both the Local System and Network Service accounts - nothing works. In addition, when I look at the service through the SQL Server Configuration Manager (also run as Administrator), attempting to change the logon setting for the service results in the message: The server threw an exception. [0x80010105] I have no need for analysis services themselves - all I need is for this one service to be running long enough to do the R2 upgrade, then it can shut down again. Any thoughts on how to get the Analysis Services service running? Update: Checking the event log, I found an error logged to the Application log from the MSSQLServerOLAPService. It has event ID 0, task category (289), and says: The service cannot be started: XML parsing failed at line 1, column 4: Unrecognized input signature.

    I've got a Flex App running at 100% width and 100% height. The embed code is: <script type="text/javascript"> var fVars = {}; fVars.wmode = "transparent"; //also tried "opaque" swfobject.embedSWF("/swf/app.swf", "app", "100%", "100%", "9.0.0", "expressInstall.swf", fVars); </script> <div class="app"></div> I've also got the nyroModal call, which is essentially $.nyroModalManual({ url: urlPath, wrap: {}, closeButton: "" }); The modal window I am trying to open in this case is a div with some text and another flash embed, which works. I've also got the app div's z-index to 0. In Firefox this looks fine, everything works. In Chrome however, nyroModal's fade-in/transparent overlay does not show up, and only the second swf is visible overtop the background flash. Am I missing anything here? Is this a known issue with Chrome?
