• How do I get Nant to use the 4.0 compiler to target .Net 3.5

  Yes I know that sounds a little bit crazy, but I've got .Net 3.5 deployed in the field and I'd like to use the new 4.0 compiler to target it. There are several new syntactic sugar features in the latest versions of Vb.Net and C# which I would like to use,but I am unable (just yet) to enforce a new version of the .Net framework and CLR on my client base. Before the nay sayers jump in with both feet... I have just successfully used Studio 2010 to compile a 3.5 targeted app which used VB.Net auto properties (A new feature in VB.Net 10) so I know the compilers are capable somehow. So back to my question.... How do I convince Nant to use the 4.0 compiler, but to target .Net 3.5 (CLR 2.0) Update: I am using the csc and vbc tasks and not the Solution task. although I'd settle for an answer on how to do this direct with the compilers at this point.

But under XP the logic contained within FireAttackProc gets executed but none of the sound clips play. Is there a quick solution to this so the sound will play under XP? I ask for a quick solution because i am happy being able to execute fully in Vista/Win7 but would be great if there was a quick solution so it would be XP compitable also. Thank you.

  Hello SO. I'm trying to make an API for my rails application using JSON responses to RESTful resource controllers. This is a new experience for me, so I'm looking for some guidance and pointers. To start things off: In a rails application, what is the "proper" way to respond with JSON to REST-ful controller methods? (create, update, destroy) Is there an idiomatic way to indicate success/failure through a JSON response? Additional information: I'm currently working with rails 3.0.beta2 I would like to avoid using a plugin or gem to do the grunt work, my goal is to gain a better understanding of how to make a rails 3 API. Links to places I could find more information on the topic would also be appreciated, some quick searching on google didn't do me much good.

• Visual Studio .dll Reference not found ?

  I had never had this error before, and I didn't move any file, or exclude any reference. I'm getting this error (link). In the ajaxcontroltoolkit.dll.refresh file, I get a path to the DLL, but it is a path that was located in someone else's computer (who no longer is in charge of this). It might as well work if I just re-do the reference, but what is weird is that I've used this reference before, and had no problems. I don't know what triggered it.. Does anyone have any clue ? --[UPDATE]-- As expected, I've fixed it, but this question remains unanswered. Besides, the exact same problem with a coworker..

  Hello I am trying to DRY up some code by moving some logic into the FormBuilder. After reading the documentation about how to select and alternative form builder the logical solution for me seemed to be something like this. In the view <% form_for @event, :builder => TestFormBuilder do |f| %> <%= f.test %> <%= f.submit 'Update' %> <% end %> and then in app/helpers/application_helper.rb module ApplicationHelper class TestFormBuilder < ActionView::Helpers::FormBuilder def test puts 'apa' end end end This, however, gives me an error at the "form_for" uninitialized constant ActionView::Base::CompiledTemplates::TestFormBuilder Where am I doing it wrong?

I really need help!

  On a Joyent accelerator I'm working with, Ruby and Rubygems were installed when the server was initially setup using Cool Stack. The existing version of Rubygems is version 0.9.2. When it comes to upgrading RubyGems using the 'sudo gem install rubygems-update' and 'sudo update_rubygems' commands, it results in the following error: ./lib/rubygems.rb:124: uninitialized constant Gem::RbConfig (NameError) from setup.rb:24:in `require' from setup.rb:24 Without having much success in rectifying this issue, I wanted to install a fresh version of RubyGems alongside this one. As this is a production server, I want to minimize the amount of environment changes I make on the server. If I install a fresh version of RubyGems from source, how do I set this new installed version of RubyGems as the default version of RubyGems to use?

• SWIG generated code fails to run on PHP 5.3.2 undefined symbol: zend_error_noreturn

  I have a library that I have been using successfully with PHP 5.1.6 with the help of some wrapper code generated by SWIG (v1.3.40). I have just upgraded to PHP 5.3.2 and I am seeing the following error: PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php/modules/myLib_php.so' - /usr/lib/php/modules/myLib_php.so: undefined symbol: zend_error_noreturn in Unknown on line 0 On investigation it appears that the wrapper code produced by SWIG (myLib_wrap.c) includes calls to the PHP function: zend_error_noreturn and that this function isn't available in PHP 5.3.2? Has anyone seen this issue before? Things seem to work if I manually update the generated code so that instead of calling zend_error_noreturn it just calls zend_error. Is this approach safe?

  Hi, I have an object with a property called "name". This object has a sub object that has a property called "name" as well. Transaction.name Transaction.TransactionItem TransactionItem.name I bind Transaction object to a partial control as usual: Html.TextBox("name", Model.name)% Model is a Transaction object. And I bind TransactionItems: < if (Model.mtTransactionItem != null) { foreach (var item in Model.mtTransactionItem) { % <%= Ajax.ActionLink(item.name, "ShowItem", new { id = item.id }, new AjaxOptions { UpdateTargetId = "dialog-form" })% And when I update the one of the transaction items through an ajax call I pass the entire transaction object to the partial view. When I debug I check the Model.name property, and it has a proper value. But on the page shows the name of TransactionItem value instead of the name of Transaction value. What do I do wrong? I have checked this problem in MVC 1.0 and MVC 2.0 framework.

• Updating a Cuda 4.0 project to Cuda 4.2

  I have a VS2010 project that was tested with CUDA 4.0, today I installed CUDA 4.2 and I want to update this project, the problem is that when I try to run the project it asks me for cudart32_40_17.dll, but since this is CUDA 4.2 I only have on my folders (C:\Program Files\NVIDIA GPU Computing Toolkit\CUDA\v4.2\bin) cudart32_42_9.dll. I already set the Build Customizations to Cuda 4.2 and it compiles without any problem, the only problem is when I try to run it, the app asks me for the previous version of the dll. Is there a way to especify that the project must use cudart32_42_9.dll?

  SQL Server Edition: 2008 Enterprise Visual Studio: 2010 w/ .NET 4.0 SSMS 2008 Addin - Data Scripter project source code on CodePlex references Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlTools.VSIntegration.dll I have referenced the DLL under <<Microsoft SQL Server install location>>\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE But here is the oddity. Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlTools.VSIntegration.dll contains a namespace Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.VSIntegration, which in turn contains ServiceCache (public sealed). As soon as I add the reference, ServiceCache is highlighted (meaning there is no reference issue) But the problem arises when I compile the project and VS 2010 throws up an error that it cannot find ServiceCache. The name 'ServiceCache' does not exist in the current context Why is that ServiceCache is not visible during compile time but looks like it's available right after adding the assembly? And Reflector does show that ServiceCache is part of the assembly that the project is referencing, but Visual Studio intellisense fails to display it. Any had this kind of problem?   I'm terribly new to web development. I'm trying to make a pretty simple site with a friend. My friend has taken the time to design the layout for our site, and we have things looking how we want in a static HTML page. What I'd like to do now is move over to a Content Management System like Drupal but keep the same design that we have all ready laid out. Since I'm completely new to this field, I'm looking for some best-practices advice as to how to make this leap. It's apparent to me that I could probably edit some existing Drupal Theme to make it give me the layout that I want, but is that the path I should go down? Thanks! Update: Also, is it more than just replacing my style.css with their style.css?

• Horizontal "tab"ish scroll between views

  I'm interested in creating a horizontal scroll view that "snaps" to the viewed item, so only one item is ever shown at a time. The user can touch-drag left/right and will see previous/next views, switching to it if there's enough velocity. This interaction is exactly like what the new weather/news widget that comes with the Nexus One does for navigating between its "tabs". Are there any existing view widgets that do this? Update: found a copy of the news/weather widget (GenieWidget) and they seem to have implemented their own widget to accomplish this which they call com.google.android.apps.genie.geniewidget.ui.FlingableLinearLayout which is part of their own custom com.google.android.apps.genie.geniewidget.ui.TabView. As that source isn't available, that's not looking too hopeful a direction.

  I have an application that when executed as a windows application works fine, but when converted to a web service, in some instances (which were tested successfully) by the windows app) creates a stack overflow. Do you have an idea of what can cause this? (Note that it works fine when the web service is placed on the localhost). Could it be that the stack size of a Web Service is smaller than that of a Window Application? • Jquery.form plugin and jquery.validation and it's submitHandler not working correctly... please help

  Hello guys, I was hoping someone can shed some light on what might be occurring on my page. Okay what I currently have on my page is a simple form that collects first name, last name, city, state and email. Once submitted it will hit a PHP page that updates our DB and echo's back to the designted div with a class of .response. I am using jquery.validation and placing that dynamic function within the submitHandler like so: submitHandler: function(form) { $(form).ajaxSubmit({ target: '.response', // target element(s) to be updated with server response resetForm: true, success: function() { $('#commentform').hide(); $('.response').show(); } }); So what I am getting is a div that is not being populated with the echo from my php file in FF and in IE I am getting the message of thank you but the page is taking me to the update.php script in which I have the form action pointing to. I am not sure what I am missing... Thanks, Matt

  If I lift my finger up off the first touch, then it will recognize the next touch just fine. It's only when I hold my first touch down continuously and then try and touch a different area with a different finger at the same time. It will then incorrectly register that second touch as being from the first touch again. • How to set up an insert to a grails created file with next sequence number?

  I'm using a JMS queue to read from and insert data into a postgres table created by grails. The problem is obtaining the next sequence value. I thought I had found the solution with the following statement (by putting "DEFAULT" where the ID should go), but it's no longer working. I must have changed something, because I needed to recreate the table. What's the best way to get around this problem? ps = c.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO xml_test (id, version, xml_text) VALUES (DEFAULT, 0, ?)"); UPDATE: In response to the suggested solution, I did the following: Added this to the the domain: class XmlTest { String xmlText static constraints = { id generator:'sequence', params:[name:'xmltest_sequence'] } } And changed the insert statement to the following: ps = c.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO xml_test (id, version, xml_text) VALUES (nextval('xmltest_sequence'), 0, ?)"); However, when I run the statement, I get the following error: [java] 1 org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERROR: relation "xmltest_sequence" does not exist Any thoughts?

• Implementing IPermission

  Hi there, I'm considering writing a custom IPermission implementation but am not clear as to how it should work. I've already implemented IPrincipal and IIdentity. What I would like to accomplish is to be able to check permissions vis a vis the current IPrincipal's authorizations rather than its roles. Generally, authorizations are read/add-delete/update/none for a given type. So I would like to write something like this: [CustomPermission(SecurityAction.Demand, Type = typeof(Foo), MinimumAuthorization = AuthorizationFlags.Read)] public void SomeMethod(){} Is this possible? I've looked over the code at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.security.ipermission.aspx. This shows how to implement the interface, but I don't understand how the above pseudo-code would be able to check against the IPrincipal's authorizations for the type. Any help or resource references would be appreciated. Joni
