• How can I call from my PC through my cisco ip phone?

  Hi gurus, I am trying to call a telephone number fro my PC through my ip phone once my application completes its work. So I am searching for a way to access my ip phone from my PC. Please correct me if I am wrong or missing the obvious. On my PC in office selecting a phone in Microsoft office communicator and making calls from PC through my Cisco IP Phone is disabled. Is there any way i can programmatically call a external phone or mobile number from my PC as my ip phone is connected to my PC. I tried out etQuickDial and Make/Drop calls. But I am not able to find the appropriate way or setup to make calls. I also googled for any libraries and i saw some TAPI but was not able to get correct way. Please help me out with this. My cisco ip phone is 7940. My environment is Windows XP. Please let me know if you need more details. No problems with me even if you propose a solution involving coding or a non coding way of downloading and installing any applications. Thanks in advance. If you dont want me to post it here and If I need to put it in super user or server fault or some where else please direct me appropriately.   I have the following code which definitely returns a proper data result if I use the 2.0.0 version, but for some reason bootstrap's typeahead plugin is giving me an error. • How to make NAnt send an email using a real account

  First of all, I have already seen this post: nant mail issues but the only answer is not satisfactory (i.e.: doesn't work for me). I am using NAnt to get latest version of source, upgrade version of the libraries and application, build the application, build the setups... all the usual things, I bet. I would like NAnt to send an email to some people confirming the conclusion of the build process; I've already checked the official (pretty ugly, IMHO) documentation for the task, but the example, once copied and customized, doesn't work. This are the NAnt target and task I'm using: <target name="sendMail" > <mail from="[email protected]" tolist="[email protected];[email protected]" subject="Subject of email" mailhost="smtp.gmail.com" message="Your new release is ready!"> </mail> </target> The error message I get is: 530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first. It looks like that the task was designed for use by an account whose provider doesn't need authentication; but what can I do if I must use an external smtp server which requires authentication (telling my boss I need an smtp server in house is not an option)? But when it involved with advanced dynamic ajax control (like ajaxControlToolkit or Telerik controls) that have javascripts inside them This method of injecting the html code to the .InnerHtml property of div tag (for example) IS NOT WORKING , and I red about it that The browser need to load the script on load and after that it won't iterperate the scripts injectd via .InnerHtml. So I attached here example of delay load project (from encosia.com by dave ward) with my modification (look at DefaultPopup.aspx and beforePopup.aspx and AfterPopup.aspx) Which I modified the RssReader to show listview with popup items (which is implemented via ACT HoverMenuExtender ) So in the regular way the popup items are shown right , but on the delay load which is done by creating virtual page for rendering the html and injecting it to .InnerHtml property – This ISN'T WORKING. So my question is : is there a way to do delay loading for controls which include scripts lik ACT and Telerik and others? And for the ajax templates – if I need to inject advanced control to the page – how I do it with your approach? • UCMA 3.0 How to build a list of recipients and then broadcast an IM call to those recipients

  I am developing an application using UCMA 3.0 that will run as a service and send out periodic 'broadcasts' in the form of Instant Message calls. I have been using the book "Professional Unified Communications Development with Microsoft Lync Server 2010" and have everything provisioned fine and am able to establish an application endpoint. I am stuck on two aspects though. 1) How to get a list of all users of Lync? Everything the UCMA can do is centered on a single user. For example it allows me to retrieve all contacts/groups present on a given users 'contact list' but does not provide any means to query for a list of available contacts that could be added to one of those contact lists. On the MSDN forum I found this post which leads me to think my best bet is simply to query AD directly. 2) What is the best way to actually send a broadcast style IM? My working premise is to attempt something like what I've found in this code example (specifically the public void SendIM() method). So, get a list of recipients from AD, (looping on each on to check current presence?), and then use Automation to make the IM call for each recipient in the collection. Does that make sense? Do I need to check presence of the recipient or do I just optimistically make the IM calls irregardless of their current presence status? Can anyone point me to some working code demonstrating sending an IM broadcast? You would think this is probably one of the most common use cases however the SDK samples do not cover it. • Hibernate: order multiple one-to-many relations

  I have a search screen, using JSF, JBoss Seam and Hibernate underneath. There are columns for A, B and C, where the relations are as follows: A (1< -- ) B (1< -- ) C A has a List< B and B has a List< C (both relations are one-to-many). The UI table supports ordering by any column (ASC or DESC), so I want the results of the query to be ordered. This is the reason I used Lists in the model. However, I got an exception that Hibernate cannot eagerly fetch multiple bags (it considers both lists to be bags). There is an interesting blog post here, and they identify the following solutions: Use @IndexColumn annotation (there is none in my DB, and what's more, I want the position of results to be determined by the ordering, not by an index column) Fetch lazily (for performance reasons, I need eager fetching) Change List to Set So, I changed the List to Set, which by the way is more correct, model-wise. First, if don't use @OrderBy, the PersistentSet returned by Hibernate wraps a HashSet, which has no ordering. Second, If I do use @OrderBy, the PersistentSet wraps a LinkedHashSet, which is what I would like, but the OrderBy property is hardcoded, so all other ordering I perform through the UI comes after it. I tried again with Sets, and used SortedSet (and its implementation, TreeSet), but I have some issues: I want ordering to take place in the DB, and not in-memory, which is what TreeSet does (either through a Comparator, or through the Comparable interface of the elements). Second, I found that there is the Hibernate annotation @Sort, which has a SortOrder.UNSORTED and you can also set a Comparator. I still haven't managed to make it compile, but I am still not convinced it is what I need. Any advice?

  I'm a fairly experienced programmer getting my head around PHP and Ajax for the first time, and I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to incorperate object oriented PHP into my ajax webapp. I have an admin page (admin.php) that will load and write information (info.xml) from an XML file depending on the users selection of a form on the admin page. I have decided to use an object (ContentManager.php) to manage the loading and writing of the XML file to disk, i.e : class ContentManager{ var $xml_attribute_1 ... function __construct(){ //load the xml file from disk and save its contents into variables $xml_attribute = simplexml_load_file(/path/to/xml) } function get_xml_contents(){ return xml_attribute; } function write_xml($contents_{ } function print_xml(){ } } I create the ContentManager object in admin.php like so <?php include '../includes/CompetitionManager.php'; $cm = new CompetitionManager() ?> <script> ...all my jquery </script> <html> ... all my form elements </html> So now I want to use AJAX to allow the user to retrieve information from the XML file via the ContentManger app using an interface (ajax_handler.php) like so <?php if(_POST[]=="get_a"){ }else if() } ... ?> I understand how this would work if I wasn't using objects, i.e. the hander php file would do a certain action depending on a variable in the .post request, but with my setup, I can't see how I can get a reference to the ContentManager object I have created in admin.php in the ajax_handler.php file? Maybe my understanding of php object scope is flawed. Anyway, if anyone can make sense of what I'm trying to do, I would appreciate some help!

• Minimal-change algorithm which maximises 'swapping'

  This is a question on combinatorics from a non-mathematician, so please try to bear with me! Given an array of n distinct characters, I want to generate subsets of k characters in a minimal-change order, i.e. an order in which generation n+1 contains exactly one character that was not in generation n. That's not too hard in itself. However, I also want to maximise the number of cases in which the character that is swapped out in generation n+1 is the same character that was swapped in in generation n. To illustrate, for n=7, k=3: abc abd abe* abf* abg* afg aeg* adg* acg* acd ace* acf* aef adf* ade bde bdf bef bcf* bce bcd* bcg* bdg beg* bfg* cfg ceg* cdg* cde cdf* cef def deg dfg efg The asterisked strings indicate the case I want to maximise; e.g. the e that is new in generation 3, abe, replaces a d that was new in generation 2, abd. It doesn't seem possible to have this happen in every generation, but I want it to happen as often as possible. Typical array sizes that I use are 20-30 and subset sizes around 5-8. I'm using an odd language, Icon (or actually its derivative Unicon), so I don't expect anyone to post code that I can used directly. But I will be grateful for answers or hints in pseudo-code, and will do my best to translate C etc. Also, I have noticed that problems of this kind are often discussed in terms of arrays of integers, and I can certainly apply solutions posted in such terms to my own problem. • BackgroundWorker From ASP.Net Application

  We have an ASP.Net application that provides administrators to work with and perform operations on large sets of records. For example, we have a "Polish Data" task that an administrator can perform to clean up data for a record (e.g. reformat phone numbers, social security numbers, etc.) When performed on a small number of records, the task completes relatively quickly. However, when a user performs the task on a larger set of records, the task may take several minutes or longer to complete. So, we want to implement these kinds of tasks using some kind of asynchronous pattern. For example, we want to be able to launch the task, and then use AJAX polling to provide a progress bar and status information. I have been looking into using the BackgroundWorker class, but I have read some things online that make me pause. I would love to get some additional advice on this. For example, I understand that the BackgroundWorker will actually use the thread pool from the current application. In my case, the application is an ASP.Net web site. I have read that this can be a problem because when the application recycles, the background workers will be terminated. Some of the jobs I mentioned above may take 3 minutes, but others may take a few hours. Also, we may have several hundred administrators all performing similar operations during the day. Will the ASP.Net application thread pool be able to handle all of these background jobs efficiently while still performing it's normal request processing? So, I am trying to determine if using the BackgroundWorker class and approach is right for our needs. Should I be looking at an alternative approach? Thanks and sorry for such a long post! Kevin

• What advice would you give a high-schooler interested in tech?

I've been a software developer, architect, manager, vp, tester, trainer, tech writer, etc., and my presentation is primarily about Android & other mobile application development.) Next week I'm going to be giving a presentation to 3 groups of high schoolers interested in technology and technology careers. One of the things I've been asked to include is any advice that I think would be valuable for them. If you are willing to share, I would like to hear what advice you would give based on your life experiences and observations. What would you be looking for if they approached you about work? Perhaps you are in that age group right now. What do you want to know? Perhaps you are just a few years into the workforce. What do you wish someone had told you but never did? Perhaps you have children, relatives or friends in or soon to be in that age group. What are you worried they don't know about? I'm sure there are other perspectives and questions I'm not even thinking about. I'd like to hear what you have to say about it.

• RESTful API design question - how should one allow users to create new resource instances?

  I'm working in a research group where we intend to publish implementations of some of the algorithms we develop on the web via a RESTful API. Most of these algorithms work on small to medium size datasets, and in many cases, a user of our services might want to run multiple queries (with different parameters) on the same dataset, so for me it seems reasonable to allow users to upload their datasets in advance and refer to them in their queries later. In this sense, a dataset could be a resource in my API, and an algorithm could be another. My question is: how should I let the users upload their own datasets? I cannot simply let users upload their data to /dataset/dataset_id as letting the users invent their own dataset_ids might result in ID collision and users overwriting each other's datasets by accident. (I believe one of the most frequently used dataset ID would be test). I think an ideal way would be to have a dedicated URL (like /dataset/upload) where users can POST their datasets and the response would contain a unique ID under which the dataset was stored, but I'm not sure that it does not violate the basic principles of REST. What is the preferred way of dealing with such scenarios?

  I tried to answer the question from Mark: Keymap issues with NX from Mac OS X Lion to Ubuntu However, it is locked so I figured I would post a new question / answer. I have been trying to answer this for a few days now because I have no issues when connecting through NX Client (technically OpenNX) to FreeNX server from an iMac (with Lion), but if I try to connect with a Macbook Pro I get horrible keyboard binding issues. The fix that is working for me is to go into: ~/.nx/config/HOST.nxs and change: <option key="Current keyboard" value="false"/> <option key="Custom keyboard layout" value="empty"/> <option key="Grab keyboard" value="false"/> I have tried this on three NX Servers and all are fixed. Hope it helps or gets you closer. • Using httplib2 in python 3 properly? (Timeout problems)

  Hey, first time post, I'm really stuck on httplib2. I've been reading up on it from diveintopython3.org, but it mentions nothing about a timeout function. I look up the documentation, but the only thing I see is an ability to put a timeout int but there are no units specified (seconds? milliseconds? What's the default if None?) This is what I have (I also have code to check what the response is and try again, but it's never tried more than once) h = httplib2.Http('.cache', timeout=None) for url in list: response, content = h.request(url) more stuff... So the Http object stays around until some arbitrary time, but I'm downloading a ton of pages from the same server, and after a while, it hangs on getting a page. No errors are thrown, the thing just hangs at a page. So then I try: h = httplib2.Http('.cache', timeout=None) for url in list: try: response, content = h.request(url) except: h = httplib2.Http('.cache', timeout=None) more stuff... But then it recreates another Http object every time (goes down the 'except' path)...I dont understand how to keep getting with the same object, until it expires and I make another. Also, is there a way to set a timeout on an individual request? Thanks for the help!

The cronify method works. I tested it in irb. Also, the schedule instance method works, I tested it in the console. • Link Maven OSGi to Maven NetBeans Platform Project

  I am using NetBeans 6.9 Beta and I would like to accomplish the following: Set up a project representing the main application using Maven (for instance "Maven Project", "Maven NetBeans Application") Ideally, the project should only contain the necessary libraries to run in Apache Felix (I would like to be able to right-click the project and select "Run in Felix") I do not want that the project contains all the NetBean Platform APIs I would prefer to implement the modules using OSGi. For instance "Maven OSGi Bundle", "Maven NetBeans Module" + OSGi These are the problems, which I have at the moment: The standard Maven archetype ("Maven NetBeans Application") seems always to select all APIs and I have not found a way to deselect APIs - in normal NetBeans Platform Applications that can be accomplished by going to the project properties and deselected the platform modules) - I guess it has something to do with the NetBeans repository (http://bits.netbeans.org/maven2)? Do I have to create another repository? When creating normal "NetBeans Module" with OSGi support, the modules contain both NetBeans Module and OSGi meta data, which is nice. But the "Maven NetBeans Modules" have only NetBeans meta data and the Maven OSGi Bundles have only OSGi meta data). I figured out how to add modules to the project by using project / new and then placing the modules in the Maven project folder. However, I do not quite know yet how I could link to modules from other locations (NetBeans uses Maven modules, which have to be in the same directory as the project?).   Hi, It should be so simple. I've followed every tutorial and forum I could find, yet I can't get it to work. I simply want to build a RESTful API in PHP on Apache2. In my VirtualHost directive I say: <Directory /> AllowOverride All <Limit GET HEAD POST PUT DELETE OPTIONS> Order Allow,Deny Allow from all </Limit> </Directory> Yet every PUT request I make to the server, I get 405 method not supported. Someone advocated using the Script directive, but since I use mod_php, as opposed to CGI, I don't see why that would work. People mention using WebDAV, but to me that seems like overkill. After all, I don't need DAV locking, a DAV filesystem, etc. All I want to do is pass the request on to a PHP script and handle everything myself. I only want to enable PUT and DELETE for the clean semantics. Thanks, Andreas

• How to get all active parameters in ASP.NET MVC (2)

  Hi! I was wondering whether there is a way to create an ActionLink or similar, that changes only a few parameters of the actual query, and keeps all the other parameters intact. For example if I'm on an URL like http://example.com/Posts/Index?Page=5&OrderBy=Name&OrderDesc=True I want to change only the Page, or OrderBy parameter and keep all other parameters the same, even those I don't yet know of (like when I want to add a Search parameter or something similar too). The header of my current action looks like this: public ActionResult Index(int? Page, string OrderBy, bool? Desc) and I'm only interested in the values that this controller "eats". I want however that when I extend this action (for example with a string Search parameter) the links should work the same way as before. Here is what I did already: Create a new RouteValueDictionary and fill it with everything from RouteData.Values Problem: This only fills the parameters that are used in the Routing, so all other optional parameters (like Page) to the controller are lost Add everything from HttpContext.Request.QueryString to the previous dictionary This is what I am currently using Problem: It might have some junk stuff, that the Controller didn`t ask for, and it doesn't work if the page was loaded using POST. You also don't have any ModelBindings (but this isn't much of a problem, because we are re-sending everything anyway) Use HttpContext.Request.Params Problem: this has too much junk data which imho one shouldn't add to a RouteValueDictionary that is passed to an ActionLink So the questions: Is there an RVD that has all the data that was passed to the Controller and was used by it? Is this solution good, or are there any caveats I didn't think about (mainly in the context of changing a few query parameters while keeping the others intact)? Is there a way to filter out the "junk" data from the Params object?

• Comma Seperated Values and LIKE php/mysql Troubles

  The Set up This is more or less a follow up question to something I had previously posted regarding comma separated values (explode,implode). Here's the scenario which has been stomping me the last few days as I'm a noob--sorry for the lengthy post. I'm passing a variable via the url (index.php?id=variable), I then check the database to find the rows containing that variable using SELECT * FROM table WHERE column LIKE '%$variable%' I'm using the wildcards because the results are a comma separated value with the variable appearing multiple times in the database. So if we were assigning-- say schools to popular tv shows..my database is set up so that the user can assign more than one school to the tv show. IE. South Park-- fsu, nyu ,mit Archer -- harvard, nyu Index.php?id=nyu would display Sourth Park & Archer. The Problem Because I am using Like '%variable%' If I have the following: South Park--uark Archer--ua index.php?=ua Instead of just Archer showing, Southpark would also show. Which makes sense due to the wildcards...but can anyone think of a way to do this achieving the results I want?..Is there any way achieve more precise results using a comma separated value?..I'm completely stomped and will appreciate any help.
