• How to speed up my websites (backoffices)

  Hello im developing some backends in ASP.NET 2.0 and i have put all the images in Cache, GZIPED my CSS, JS files and everything to speedup the load of each options. the performance its good and i have no problems with the clients but i want "MORE" fast loads and im looking for some recomendations. Is important to mention that those websites are using only in intranets so im thinking to implement my next projects using IFRAME for content that way (i think) the options will be loading faster because they not have to load the entire site. any help / recomendations? thanks in advance.

• Scrollbar Problem

  Hi All, There is a datagrid on my page which contains a lot of data. When i click on any row , the user is redirected to a page where he can edit the content of that row. But suppose I am at the bottom of page and then if I click on any row, the scrollbar of browser automatically shifts upwards which causes illusion for the user and make him confused if he has clicked on some other row. Is there any solution to this so that the position of scrollbar does not change after clicking on any data in datagrid. Thanks in advance.

• WordPress theme blog not displaying well in FireFox-how to fix?

  Hi I have recently made a new WordPress theme (named {cssgroundup}) which I am using on my blog at www.richard-dickinson.com It is only a basic WP theme for my personal use as I am quite new to the WordPress platform (?). It is a work in progress (as is the blog content!) however it displays alright in IE browser but not so well in FireFox. Can someone help me edit it so it displays properly in most browsers or advise me how I can fix this please? I have asked for help at wordpress.org forums but haven't yet had any help! I can post stylesheet code & theme.php code here if required. I look forward to helpful replies, many thanks

Therefore, the modules is loaded Afer each modification,I restared the server manually with sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart The error.log gives Apache/2.2.14 (Ubuntu) PHP/5.3.2-1ubuntu4.2 with Suhosin-Patch configured -- resuming normal operations When I call a page anyone.htm or anyone.php, the rewrite.log does contain nothing and the real page is called. If I understand, the page anyone.php should be replaced by testphp.php Did I make siomething wrong ? Thanks

  I have div that I need to be present on every page, yet at a different length depending on the exact page. So far, I have this: <div class="above <?php if (is_page(12)) echo 'short'; ?>"> //content </div><!-- end above --> How do I go about adding something to the avail of <?php if (is_page(24, 26, 28)) echo 'med'; ?> (on page 12 I need the "short" length, and on pages 24, 26, 28 I need the "med" length of the div) Any help is appreciated. I'm just now diving into php and while I do love the options it makes available, I'm not sure yet how to put it all together.

• Is there a font that can't be recognised by an OCR?

  I am trying to write a document that can only be read by humans. The document content can't be copied. For that purpose, I am converting its pages to pictures and adding them back to a PDF file. The main issue is that any OCR program can get back the whole written text, especially that the page is going to be clear (as opposed to a scanned book) which will increase the OCR accuracy. So, is there a font that can't be recognized by an OCR. Otherwise, is there a technique that will make my document only readable by humans, yet unrecognised by an OCR? (for instance, adding a specific background, etc...) Thank you in advance.

  Theres a web page I'm making which content is very dynamic and so I'm building it from inside the backing bean. I would like to add a Java applet to the web page but I could not find the JSF component type to correspond to the <applet> tag. So My questions are - What is the JSF component type for an applet? How did you find it? (For similar future searches) Thanks! P.S - Just to be clear. An example: <h:PanelGroup> would be HtmlPanelGroup as a java object.

• [MAC] Using a proxy for NSURLConnection

  Is there any way to get the content of a webfile (namely a .html Document) using a proxy, which is not defined in the system settings? I know that NSURLConnection is the right way to download a web file into a variable and not into a file (for which we should use NSURLDownload), but I don't find an way to use a proxy for it. Are there some inofficial APIs, Librarys or Classes or such I could use for what I want to do? I'm not that pro in Mac Programming, so im searching for something more or less simple to do for me plz. • BeautifulSoup Parser Confusion - HTML

  I'm trying to scrape some content off another site and I'm not sure why BeautifulSoup is producing this output. It is only finding a blank space inside the match, but the real HTML contains a large amount of markup. I apologize if this is something stupid on my part. I'm new to python. • Using database default values with Linq to SQL codewise

  I am using Dynamic Data with linq to SQL and SQL Server 2008. I have a GUID column that gets his value from the default value with newguid(). When I set IsDbGenerated to true in the designer it works like a charm. But when I renew table this property is set back to false again. So I added it to the metadata. For some reason it's not being pickup, "00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000" is being inserted in database. The displayname and readonly change are being pick up. What am I missing?   Hi, I'm new to doctrine: I have a problem with the sorting of joined records. A sample. I've got an Article model which is associated with a Source model in 1 <- n. The source model has a property called 'position' with an integer value. Now I want to fetch an article with it's sources orderes by the position. My DQL looks like this: $q = Doctrine_Query::create() ->select('a.title, s.content') ->from('Article a') ->leftJoin('a.Source s') ->where('a.id = ?') ->orderBy('s.position'); The result doesn't change if I edit the position. • How shared hostings, domain names and DNS work together?

  Hi, I 've this little doubt but I couldn't find information about it, probably because I'm not searching the correct thing. When a browser ask for "www.mydomain.com", the DNS server returns an IP Address, then the browser go there... but what does happen then? I mean, that IP address could be a shared hosting that contains hundreds of web pages and domains, so how does it knows where it have to go? Is something that the web server does? is it something that I could implement in a web application? I mean, for example I have a web application that contains accounts, and each account has a default web page. You could access that page passing the account namne, for example "www.mydomain.com/myaccount", but now I want to register "www.myaccount.com" and then it will get the "www.mydomain.com/myaccount" content.   Hi there, I am using phpQuery in order to apply some twaks to editorial content. As its syntax is the same as jQuery, I consider this a dom scripting issue. To get rid of elements which are not representing anything, but wrapping other stuff (like the div in <div><p>blah</p></div> I came up with this selector: ['div:not([align][class][id][style][title][dir][lang][onclick][ondblclick][onmousedown] [onmouseup][onmouseover][onmousemove][onmouseout][onkeypress][onkeydown][onkeyup])'] which looks quite monstrous for a selector simply aming on Divs which just do not have any (valid) attribute. I guess there must be a more straight-forward way to accomplish that, right? Edit: Oh, and I just noticed that it even doesn't do wat I intended to ...

• Does writing program using global variables is safer?

  I was reading about buffer, stack and heap overflows. I read this post as well. my question is like that: if I use only global variables in my code, can I say it prevents all the exploits of overflow? let's say I have this buffers in code declared in the global scope: char buf1[10]; char buf2[100]; If I send buf1 as the buffer to recv(int s, char *buf, int len,int flags); I will overwrite the data segment and may ruin the buf2 content, right? Would I be able to run a code from it because as I know it is not a code segment and data segment is not executable. Can we conclude that using Globals is the safest way?

• Suppress checking for changes on file system in Eclipse RCP

  Okay, I guess this question is too difficult, but it's worth a try. I have an eclipse RCP application that edits HTML-files. I deal with the content of the files only in a W3C-Dom representation. There is some stuff that I can not do with that, so I the program edits each file each time after it is saved (save, save as). Of course, the file is then out of synch with the file system, and the next time I touch it, eclipse complains: "The file has been changed on the file system. Do you want to replace the editor contents with these changes? (Yes/No)" I do not want to load the changes into the editor ("No") Maybe there is a way to tell Eclipse programmatically to not check that file for changes, or to configure it to not check for changes on any file? edit: Everything has to be done either programatically or by editing some XML files. I can not expect the user to do anything;-)

• EXCEL - Locking a Cell from User input whilst allowing a Linked combobox?

  I have a Protected Worksheet which is a checklist with a series of checkpoints. Each row has Item and Description cells that are locked. Each row has several columns with its contents to be set by a ComboBox and a text input column. Both i have left unlocked. I have Locked the the Item and Description columns and left only the 'Select Unlocked Cells' checked via Sheet Protection. I have one ComboBox on the worksheet that moves around and adjusts its LinkedCell and its Content list using the worksheets SelectionChanged event. When the user selects a cell to bring up the drop down list, the user is able to type into the cell and the Drop Down Box disappears. What is the best way to keep the cell unlocked so it can be selectable(as 'Select Locked Cells" is unchecked) however stop the user from being able to type in the cell and to allow the cells contents to become modifiable only via the ComboBox?

  Hi folks, If i have a request for a resource in my ASP.NET MVC1 (or 2) web app for a static resource, say ... an image or a javascript file or a css file ... does the .NET framework try and see if the request matches the route list ... and eventually can't find a controller for it? eg. Resource: /Content/Images/Foo.png Does this request go through my route list .. fails to match any controllers / actions to this request and then .. i donno ... attempt that path directly?

• Using a part of a class in multiple projects

  I have a set of methods that do some utility work over SQL connection, and until now these have been copied over from project to project. But as time goes on, project numbers have grown and I need to keep these methods in sync in case I find a bug or need to update it. I have managed to get it to the state that SQL access class is a partial class, one part is specific for project and contains wrappers for a specific database. The second part is the common one and contains methods that are used in all project-specific databases. The problem is that now I would have the "utility" class copied over 8 projects, with the same content, but in different namespaces. In C/C++ it would have been simple, because I would just have #included the contents of the file wherever needed. What should I do in C#?

• Wordpress parses wp_posts.post_content before rendering?

  I noticed that when I call the the_post() or the_content() function from my wordpress template, it automatically parses the database data to replace new lines with <br/>, wraps the text with <p> tags etc...There's probably some kind of "format" function within the_post() or the_content(). I wrote a query to directly get posts from the wp_posts. I then print it out like <?php $results = $wp->get_results($sql) foreach($results as $row) echo $row->post_content; ?> Clearly, this data is not parsed by wordpress' "format" function. What is the proper way to output this content such that it undergoes the same "formatting" functions as the_post() or the_content()?

  Hi All, I have a bit of code that works with a result set called "result" (original I know) but depending on the incoming variable I'd like to fire the specific query depending. I have the below in an if statement but that just makes the "result" recordset gets those nasty red lines and it doesn't work.
