• Jaxb unmarshalls fixml object but all fields are null

  I have a small XML document in the FIXML format. I'm unmarshalling them using jaxb. The problem The process complete without errors but the objects which are created are completely null. Every field is empty. The fields which are lists (like the Qty) have the right number of object in them. But the fields of those objects are also null. Setup I've downloaded the FIXML schema from here and I've created the classes with xjc and the maven plugin. They are all in the package org.fixprotocol.fixml_5_0_sp2. In the above sample the Amt array will have five element which matches the number of amts in the file. But all the fields like ccy are null. I've put breakpoints in the classes created by xjc and none of the setters are ever called. So it appears that jaxb is unmarshalling and creating all the correct objects, but it's never calling the setters?? I'm completely stumped on this. I've seen a few posts that suggrest making sure the package.info file that was generated by xjc is in the packags and I've made sure that it's there. There are no working in the IDE about the generated code. Any help much appreciated.

• Error using Session in IIS

  After deployment of my website to IIS I'm getting a following error message when trying to access session: Session state can only be used when enableSessionState is set to true, either in a configuration file or in the Page directive. Please also make sure that System.Web.SessionStateModule or a custom session state module is included in the \\ section in the application configuration. I access it in Page_Load or PreRender events (I tried both versions). With VS Dev Server it works without a problem. I tried both InProc an SessionState storage, 1 and multiple woker processes. I added a enableSessionState = "true" to my webpage explicitly. • Nhibernate Migration from 1.0.2.0 to 2.1.2 and many-to-one save problems

  Hi, we have an old, big asp.net application with nhibernate, which we are extending and upgrading some parts of it. NHibernate that was used was pretty old ( 1.0.2.0), so we decided to upgrade to ( 2.1.2) for the new features. HBM files are generated through custom template with MyGeneration. Everything went quite smoothly, except for one thing. Lets say we have to objects Blog and Post. Blog can have many posts, so Post will have many-to-one relationship. Due to the way that this application operates, relationship is done not through primary keys, but through Blog.Reference column. As i understand, in old version, for nhibernate it was enough to have Blog.Reference field, and it could retrieve entity by that field, and attach it to PostEntity, and when saving PostEntity, everything would work correctly. And as i understand, new NHibernate tries only to retrieve by Blog.Id. How to solve this? I cannot change DB design, nor can i assign an Id to BlogEntity, as objects are out of my control (they come prefilled as generic "ojbects" like this from external source)

• How to design a data model that deals with (real) contracts?

  I was looking for some advice on designing a data model for contract administration. The general life cycle of a contract is thus: Contract is created and in a "draft" state. It is viewable internally and changes may be made. Contract goes out to vendor, status is set to "pending" Contract is rejected by vendor. At this state, nothing can be done to the contract. No statuses may be added to the collection. Contract is accepted by vendor. At this state, nothing can be done to the contract. No statuses may be added to the collection. I obviously want to avoid a situation where the contract is accepted and, say, the amount is changed. Here are my classes: [EnforceNoChangesAfterDraftState] public class VendorContract { public virtual Vendor Vendor { get; set; } public virtual decimal Amount { get; set; } public virtual VendorContact VendorContact { get; set; } public virtual string CreatedBy { get; set; } public virtual DateTime CreatedOn { get; set; } public virtual FileStore Contract { get; set; } public virtual IList<VendorContractStatus> ContractStatus { get; set; } } [EnforceCorrectWorkflow] public class VendorContractStatus { public virtual VendorContract VendorContract { get; set; } public virtual FileStore ExecutedDocument { get; set; } public virtual string Status { get; set; } public virtual string Reason { get; set; } public virtual string CreatedBy { get; set; } public virtual DateTime CreatedOn { get; set; } } I've omitted the filestore class, which is basically a key/value lookup to find the document based on its guid. The VendorContractStatus is mapped as a many-to-one in Nhibernate. I then use a custom validator as described here. If anything but draft is returned in the VendorContractStatus collection, no changes are allowed. Furthermore the VendorContractStatus must follow the correct workflow (you can add a rejected after a pending, but you can't add anything else to the collection if a reject or accepted exists, etc.). All sounds alright? Well a colleague has argued that we should simply add an "IsDraft" bool property to VendorContract and not accept updates if IsDraft is false. Then we should setup a method inside of VendorContractStatus for updating the status, if something gets added after a draft, it sets the IsDraft property of VendorContract to false. I do not like this as it feels like I'm dirtying up the POCOs and adding logic that should persist in the validation area, that no rules should really exist in these classes and they shouldn't be aware of their states. Any thoughts on this and what is the better practice from a DDD perspective? From my view, if in the future we want more complex rules, my way will be more maintainable over the long run. Say we have contracts over a certain amount to be approved by a manager. I would think it would be better to have a one-to-one mapping with a VendorContractApproval class, rather than adding IsApproved properties, but that's just speculation. This might be splitting hairs, but this is the first real gritty enterprise software project we've done. Any advice would be appreciated!

• Why does sending post data with WebRequest take so long?

  I am currently creating a C# application to tie into a php / MySQL online system. The application needs to send post data to scripts and get the response. When I send the following data username=test&password=test I get the following responses... Starting request at 22/04/2010 12:15:42 Finished creating request : took 00:00:00.0570057 Transmitting data at 22/04/2010 12:15:42 Transmitted the data : took 00:00:06.9316931 <<-- Getting the response at 22/04/2010 12:15:49 Getting response 00:00:00.0360036 Finished response 00:00:00.0360036 Entire call took 00:00:07.0247024 As you can see it is taking 6 seconds to actually send the data to the script, I have done further testing bye sending data from telnet and by sending post data from a local file to the url and they dont even take a second so this is not a problem with the hosted script on the site. Why is it taking 6 seconds to transmit the data when it is two simple strings? The War project has all of my .xhtml files as well as the project's faces-config.xml, my Jar project has all of my faces related Java code (action beans, managed beans, custom converters, etc.)

ObjectListView_CellEditFinishing is a piece of cake: HashSet<OLVColumn> cbColumns = new HashSet<OLVColumn> (new OLVColumn[] { SomeCol, SomeCol2, ...}; private void ObjectListView_CellEditFinishing(object sender, CellEditEventArgs e) { if (cbColumns.Contains(e.Column)) ... but ObjectListView_CellEditStarting is the problematic. I guess in CellEditStarting I will have to discriminate each case separately: private void ObjectListView_CellEditStarting(object sender, CellEditEventArgs e) { if (e.Column == SomeCol) // code to create the combo, put the correct list as the datasource, etc. else if (e.Column == SomeOtherCol) // code to create the combo, put the correct list as the datasource, etc. And so on. But how can I parameterize the "code to create the combo, put the correct list as the datasource, etc."? Problem lines are (1) Get SomeObject. the property NAME varies. (2) Set ISomeOtherObject, the property name varies too. The types vary too, but I can cover those cases with a generic method combined with a not so "typesafe" API (for instance, the cb.DataBindings.Add and cb.DataSource both use an object) Reflection? more lambdas? Any ideas? Any other way to do the same?   I am having the same problem like Rails custom environment Resque.enqueue does not create jobs , but the solution there doesn't work for me. I'm using Resque for a couple of asynchronous jobs. It works just fine for the staging environment, but for some reason it stopped working on development environment. I check Resque using resque-web If I run it on staging - it works just fine. $ rails c staging > Resque.enqueue(MyLovelyJob, 1) I have tried to duplicate the 2 environment, and they seem to use absolutely the same configurations (database.yml , config/environment , etc.), but development is still not working.   Hello, I just got a Droid, and after having used it for a while, I felt like I wanted to make a program for it. The program that I am trying to make calculates the actual storage capacity of secondary storage mediums. The user select from a list of units that ranges from KB to YB and the size the entered gets put into a formula depending on the chosen unit. However, there is a bit of a problem with the program. From my testing, I have narrowed it down to the fact that the user's selection is not really being obtained from the spinner. Everything I look up seems to point me to a method quite similar to how it works in J2SE, but it does nothing. How am I actually supposed to get that data? • RavenDB - Can I create/query an index, from an application that doesn't share the CLR objects that were persisted?

  This post goes some way to answering this question (I'll include the answer later), but I was hoping for some further details. We have a number of applications that each need to access/manipulate data from Raven in their own way. Data is only written via the main web application. Other apps include batch-style tasks, reporting etc. In an attempt to keep each of these as de-coupled as possible, they are separate solutions. That being the case, how can I, from the reporting application, create indexes over the existing data, using my locally defined types? The answer from the linked question states As long as the structure of the classes you are deserializing into partially matches the structure of the data, it shouldn't make a difference. The RavenDB server doesn't care at all what classes you use in the client. You certainly could share a dll, or even share a portable dll if you are targeting a different platform. But you are correct that it is not necessary. However, you should be aware of the Raven-Clr-Type metadata value. The RavenDB client sets this when storing the original document. It is consumed back by the client to assist with deserialization, but it is not fully enforced It's the first part of that that I wanted clarification on. Do the object graphs for the docs on the server and types in my application have to match exactly? I looked at the DataServiceContext to see if it would work and it does but it uses XML to communicate between the restful services and the client. Which would work but DataServiceContext does not give the level of messaging that HttpRequestMessage/HttpResponseMessage gives me for informing users on the errors/missing information with their post. We are planning on supporting multiple devices from our restful services platform but that requires that I can use NewtonSoft Json as well as Microsoft's DataContractJsonSerializer if need be. My question is for a restful service standpoint - is there a way I can configure/code the restful services to take in the AssignedNbr as in JSON as without the quotes. Or from a JSON standpoint is their a way I can get the JSON built without getting into the serializing business nor do I want our clients to have deal with custom serializers if they want to write their own apps against our restful services. • jQuery not executed on page load

  I'm building an ajax upload with an editing function (rotate, zoom and crop), and I'm using guillotine by matiasgagliano (https://github.com/matiasgagliano/guillotine) for this. My problem is that after upload the user get redirected to the editing page through ajax, but when landing on that page I always have to refresh the page in browser for the image to load. I've tried auto-reloading, both through js and php, but that doesn't help, neither does adding a button to load the same url again. Only refresh from browser button (tested in several browsers) works. I've tried implementing jquery.turbolinks, but that stopped guillotine functions from working. I'm loading the guillotine.js in head section after jQuery, and have the function in bottom before body tag. Any tip or help would be appreciated. • ASP.NET Login Page Redirection Problem

  Hello everyone! I'm building a silverlight application hosted on ASP.NET Web App. / IIS7 / SSL-enabled website. For security, I put my silverlight page inside a Members folder in the ASP.NET Web Application, and restricted access from anonymous users.(see web.config below) when users try to access pages under Members folder, they get redirected to https://www.ssldemo.com/authenticationtest/login.aspx. • Why is my NSURLConnection so slow?

  I have setup an NSURLConnection using the guidelines in Using NSURLConnection from the Mac OS X Reference Library, creating an NSMutableURLRequest as POST to a PHP script with a custom body to upload 20 MB of data (see code below). Note that the post body is what it is (line breaks and all) to exactly match an existing desktop implementation. When I run this in the iPhone simulator, the post is successful, but takes an order of magnitude longer than if I run the equivalent code locally on my Mac in C++ (20 minutes vs. 20 seconds, respectively). Any ideas why the difference is so dramatic? I understand that the simulator will give different results than the actual device, but I would expect at least similar results. • ValidationProperty not returning entered value for textbox

• Trying to create an image list based on what is defined as the order, and loosing

  I have a custom created module for Joomla 2.5 and within the params of the module, and have a loop that is not outputting as expected. I have the following parameters (fields) int he module: Order Thumb image Image Title Full-size image Now there are 10 sets of these group of 4 params. What I am trying to do is loop through each of the object sets, 10 of them, and on each iteration, build an HTML image list structure. The if statement is building the HTML structure for the sets that have an order value that is greater than 0, and the else is creating the html for those sets that do not have a value greater that 0. The goal is to create two variables and then concatenate the the strings together; the leading set are the sets that have an order defined. This is not happening and every thrid loop seems like it is missing. • Android Frame based animation memory problem

  Hi all Im trying to create a animation on top of a Camera Surface view. The animation if a box rotating, and to enable transparency i made a bunch of *.png files that i want to just switch out on top of the Camera view. The problem is Android wont allow me to allocate so many images (too much memory required) so the AnimationDrawable is not an option. Will i be able to allocate all the *.png bitmaps if i use OpenGL instead? then i would store all the *.png's as Textures and just make my own animation logic? is am i under the same restrictions there? Any ideas on how to solve this problem ? Ive made a Custom view that loads the image resource on every frame and discards it when next frame is to be displayed.   Hi been wrestling this form and the last step (actually submitting) has me scratching my head.
