• Maven jaxb2:xjc/jaxws:wsimport to be added in eclipse?

  I have a library I am creating based on some WSDL/XSD definitions. I am having a problem having the compiled classes added in the eclipse project. I can see that with a 'mvn compile' that the .class files are generated, as well as the .java files. The problem is that even though the .class files are generated, eclipse is still showing an error on the import statement "import com.whatever.SomeService_Service" that was generated by one of the plugins. I tried forcing the source to go into the project/src/main/java directory, but when the project is cleaned, it deletes files that I have created. Has anyone run into this before/found a way to get it to recognize that the class files are there? Thanks.

• ExpressionEngine: {exp:query} producing error

  Hi. I have this code in place to pull some relation data from the database based on a ID of another weblog entry. The relationship custom field would not work for my situation. I have tested the SQL with MySQL and get no errors. But I get an error when I pull up the page. {exp:query sql="SELECT entry_id,field_id_16,field_id_19 FROM exp_weblog_data WHERE field_id_15='2' AND weblog_id='6'"} Also, I want to populate the “field_id_15” from the url. I have tried using the “segment_*” tag, but nothing. Maybe it is something else. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Josh

• Setting up nHibernate with an Oracle database and Visual Studio 2010

  I'm creating a .ASPNET project and I would like to setup nHibernate as my ORM tool. I will be using an existing oracle database and Visual Studio 2010. ORM tools are very new to me and really could use any advice to better understand the tool and the process required to implement them. I've been following an article at http://nhforge.org/wikis/howtonh/your-first-nhibernate-based-application.aspx to learn about it and am stuck where they say to create a local database as mine only give me the option to create a SQL server database (perhaps this a new for visual studio 2010?). Is the purpose of this database just to cache results from the live database? Thanks for your help! Geoff

How does this differ from the System.Lazy<...> construct now available in .NET 4.0 (and perhaps earlier)? More depth based on DoctaJones' great answer: Would you recommend one over the other if I wanted to operate on IQueryable as a List<T>? I'm assuming that since Lazy<T> is in the framework now, it is a safer bet for future support and maintainability? If I want to use a strong type instead of an anonymous (var) type would the following statements be functionally equivalent?   I'm a c# developer in a medium/small company. I use to do quick test of the apps that my workmates made and they use to test my applications. We test each form based in our experience. (yes, I know this is not a very formal method) Now a new guy without experience are going to join our team. We think now is the momento to make a little list of things that all we should test in each form. Divided by categories. For example usability: Test that the taborder of each control are properly setted, or Valitacion: Test that the max lenght of each textbox match with the max lenght of a field in the DB...etc We don't one to Reinvent the Wheels, so I want to know if such kind of document already exists. • How to do iPad Photos app pinch to expand

  I don't think this has been asked before on this site, but I might be wrong. Does anyone know the basics of how to get that whole effect with the iPad Photos app? Basically, pinching a stack of photos lets you have a "peek" at the photos in that stack, which expands based on the distance between your 2 fingers in the pinch, then fully completing the outwards pinch gesture opens the photos in the stack in a new view. See this video to get what I mean. I know of at least one third party app that uses the same method as the iPad Photo app, so I know it's possible to do. I'm guessing I would do something with UIPinchGestureRecognizer but I'm not sure exactly how to proceed.

  Hi, Can anyone advise if its possible to pass data via JQUERY to an ASP.NET MVC controller action and have a view rendered in new browser tab based on the model data passed to the action method. My scenario is that I have a Jqgrid populated with product info on a page. The user would tick the items in the grid that they would like a label produced for. After they've made their slection they would click a button and I would like (if possible) to render a view of that contains a label for each selected item and have the view render in a new browser tab. All the code to allow the selections and post the relevant data back to the action method is all working fine and I know its easy to use the Jquery $(selector).load() command to populate an element on the current page with the HTML returned from the action. But is it possible to populate an element on a page in a new browser tab. If it is how would I go about it? Hope this make sense.

• Jersey, Apache HTTPD, and javax.annotation.security usage

  So I'm having a heck of a time trying to piece together what I think is a pretty simple implementation. This is very similar to another StackOverflow question only I can't leverage Tomcat to handle role based authentication. I have an Apache httpd server in front of my app that handles authentication and then passes LDAP roles to a Jersey service through Headers. I've created a servlet filter to parse the header and tease out the roles the request came from, which works fine globally to the app, but isn't fine-grained enough to dictate what an Admin could do that a User could not. I'm thinking I could use the javax.annotation.security annotations that JAX-RS supports, but I don't know how to take what I've parsed out using a servlet filter to set or instantiate the SecurityContext necessary for the roles @RolesAllowed.

• Software to Tune/Calibrate Properties for Heuristic Algorithms

  Today I read that there is a software called WinCalibra (scroll a bit down) which can take a text file with properties as input. This program can then optimize the input properties based on the output values of your algorithm. See this paper or the user documentation for more information (see link above; sadly doc is a zipped exe). Do you know other software which can do the same which runs under Linux? (preferable Open Source) EDIT: Since I need this for a java application I will now invest my research in java libraries like jgap. Other ideas and links would be appreciated!

  Hi, I want to know how can I get the value of the request parameters "j_username" and "j_password"? After successfully login using form based authentication, I want my servlet to get the value of parameters "j_username" and "j_password", but I'm getting null as the value in both parameters. • NSFetchedResultsController titleForHeaderInSection with formatted NSDate

  In my Core Data app I am using a FetchedResultsController. Usually to set titles for headers in a UITableView you would implement the following method like so: - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section { id <NSFetchedResultsSectionInfo> sectionInfo = [[<#Fetched results controller#> sections] objectAtIndex:section]; return [sectionInfo name]; } where [sectionInfo name] returns a NSString. my sectionKeyPath is based on an NSDate and this all works fine apart from the section headers it gives me are the raw date description strings (e.g. 12/12/2009 12:32:32 +0100) which look a bit of a mess in a header! So I want to use a date formatter on this to make a nice header like "Apr 17 2010" but I can't do that with the [sectionInfo name] as this is NSString! Any Ideas? Many Thanks

• Cannot format first column in WxPython's ListCtrl

  If I set the format of the first column in a ListCtrl to align centre (or align right) nothing happens. It works for the other columns. This only happens on Windows - I have tested it on Linux and it works fine. Does anyone know if there is a work-round or other solution?   I have a portal based on a publishing portal. The portal (SPSite) contains has two websites (SPWebs) one is anonymously accessible and other one isn't. This works as expected. Now I want to set the permissions for some aspx page of the anonymously accessible website so that they are not visible for authenticated users. So it's actually the opposite of anonymous access. User that are not logged in should see the aspx pages and logged in user shouldn't. The aspx pages are normal publishing pages of the publishing portal. How could I archive this. Is this possible at all?

  Hi All, Suppose there is a table A which has a column AccessRights which is multivalued( Eg of values in it in this format STOLI,HELP,BRANCH(comma separated string) Now a stored procedure is written against this table to fetch records based on a AccessRight parameter sent to the SP. Let that parameter be @AccessRights, this is also a comma separated string which may have a value like STOLI,BRANCH,HELPLINE etc Now I want to compare individual values from the parameter @AccessRights with the column AccessRights. Current Approach is I split the Comma Separated string(@AccessRights) using a User Defined Function Split. And I get Individual values in a Table variable(Contains only one column "accessGroup"), the individual values are in a Table variable under the column name accessGroup and I use following code in the SP for comparison Where AccessRights like '%'+accessGroup+'%' Now if the user passes the parameter (HELP, OLI) instead of( HELP,STOLI) the SP will give the output. What should be done for comparison so that that subststring OLI does not give the output for STOLI

• In what areas might the use of F# be more appropriate than C#?

  Over the last few years F# has evolved into one of Microsoft's fully supported languages employing many ideas incubated in OCaml, ML and Haskell. Over the last several years C# has extended it's general purpose features by introducing more and more functional language features: LINQ (list comprehension), Lamdas, Closures, Anonymous Delegates and more... Given C#'s adoption of these functional features and F#'s taxonomy as an impure functional language (it allows YOU to access framework libraries or change shared state when a function is called if you want to) there is a strong similarity between the two languages although each has it's own polar opposite primary emphasis. I'm interested in any successful models employing these two languages in your production polyglot programs and also the areas within production software (web apps, client apps, server apps) you have written in F# in the past year or so that you would previously have written in C#. • Why a very good PHP framework - Qcodo (or Qcubed - its branch) - is so unpopular?

  I am wondering why this framework (QCodo) is almost forgotten and totally unpopular. I've started using it a few years ago and it is the only thing that keeps me with PHP. Yeah ... its development is stuck (that's why there is now more active branch Qcubed) but it is still very good piece of software. Its main advantages: Event driven (something like asp.net) no spaghetti code Powerful code generation good ORM follows DRY very simple AJAX support is fun to write Since then I wanted to be trendy and checked Django but I cannot write normal request-based web application (it just doesn't feel right). Don't believe? chess.com is written with it and surely there are plenty others. My 2 questions are: Have you heard of it (PHP people)? • Do I need the bin\debug\appName.vshost.exe and appName.vshost.manifest in my SVN code repository?

  I am building an application which is based on a sample application, written in C# on .NET 2, and is built on VS2008. This application is mostly a wrapper for a COM application. However I compile it in .NET 3.5. The sample application came with the following files in it's bin\debug: appName.vshost.exe appName.vshost.exe.manifest I noticed that I can delete the files and VS re-builds vshost.exe, and the vshost.manifest file appears with modification date the same as the deleted file as if VS has copied in from somewhere. My question is, should I put this files in my SVN code repository?

• How do you prevent brute force attacks on RESTful data services

  Hi, I'm about to implement an RESTful API to our website (based on WCF data services, but that probably does not matter). All data offered via this API belongs to certain users of my server, so I need to make sure only those users have access to my resources. For this reason, all requests have to be performed with a login/password combination as part of the request. What's the recommended approach for preventing brute force attacks in this scenario? I was thinking of logging failed requests denied due to wrong credentials and ignoring requests originating from the same IP after a certain threshold of failed requests has been exceeded. Is this the standard approach, or am I a missing something important? Thanks, Adrian

  I am trying to iterate through each of the members of an object. For each member, I check to see if it is a function or not. If it is a function, I want to get the name of it and perform some logic based on the name of the function. I don't know if this is even possible though. Is it?
