• Your Django Development process/steps (Step by Step)

  I want to know step by step process of how folks develop on Django here. I have seen that whenever I try to create a website in Django, I always get confused amongst: DB Schema/models.py UI/Template Structure Login module urls.py views.py How do you approach this? I may have missed something. You do not need to elaborate everything, just stepwise what you do. If you do two things at the same time (or side-by-side), that would also be helpful to mention.   I am developing a website as part of my final year project and I want to display a message which confirms that an email has been sent. I know how to display custom error messages on a form i.e. You cannot go any further until the following errors are fixed : login name not known! I want to display a message which will say: your email has been sent! after I send an email. I have been told that I should display this message through the flash. I am unsure on how to do this, any help would be greatly appreciated.

  [This is slightly different than a previous question about having multiple domains share the same cookie. It seemed like there wasn't an easy way to do that.] I have a application at application.com. A customer has app.customer.com pointed at my site on Heroku, and I have everything set up so that it renders a specific version of app correctly. The issue is that I want a user at app.customer.com to be able to login. I believe authlogic is now setting the cookie on application.com, so while it verifies the credentials, no session on customer.com is ever created.

• Problem: connecting to drupal on hostgator without pointed domain.

  I need to connect to drupal on a website that I'm programming on a hostgator account. The website that I'm working on currently receives a lot of traffic, and I would like to make sure that it is fully functional before I launch the new website. The old website was programmed with .asp which hostgator doesn't support, and the old webhost doesn't support drupal or .php which are integral to the new web design. Drupal 6 has been freshly installed on my website, but when I try to login, it redirects me to http://gator83.hostgator.com/?q=node&destination=node instead of the drupal control panel. Is it possible to work around this? Thank you in advance.

  I'm new to PHP, and it appears that the way I learn the fastest is to study a new language a well developed complete program (or website, in this case) changing stuff seeing what happens and consulting books. There are lots of recommendations of books all around, and that's pretty much covered. I'd like to find the sourcecode of a website. Either a well known, well developed open-source website, or a sample sourcecode of a complete website (maybe one used in a book or something). Everyone says they should find the way they learn better.. Well, that's mine. PS.: By complete I mean having several common functionalities (such as login), database connection, use of security conventions, maybe a popular framework, and being up-to-date.

• Xcodebuild failing to pick up environment values from project file?

  I'm using Xcode 3.2.6, MacOSX. I have a globally visible environment setting: ICU_SRC=~/Documents/icu/source This really is an environment setting, it's set at login time. When I open up Terminal, it's there. In my project, under Header Search Paths I've added this: $(ICU_SRC)/i18n $(ICU_SRC)/common These expand correctly when I compile inside the IDE. When I look at the build results, I see this: -I/Users/eric.grunin/Documents/icu/source/i18n -I/Users/eric.grunin/Documents/icu/source/common When I build from the command line, however, it fails. What I see is this: -I/i18n -I/common Here's the command I'm using to compile: /usr/bin/env -i xcodebuild -project my_project.xcodeproj -target "my_program" -configuration Release -sdk macosx10.6 build What am I doing wrong?   Hi Guys, I have a domain A.com which is my website. I want to allow the user to login and then I have embedded an iframe into domain B.com which attempts to grab the cookie from A.com to allow the user to be continued to be signed in. I can't seem to get this working in IE ? A new session gets set instead and the cookie is never retrieved. I have set a P3P policy ? Any ideas what I am doing wrong.

For that, after the login, I would just store the user id in the session. But: I've seen some people do weird things like generating a GUID for each user and session and storing that instead of just the user id in the session. Why? The content of a session cannot be obtained by a client - or can it?

How would you do this? I can't depend on the date/time as this is a login report that is constantly getting updated - all I want is to ensure that the last line ends with that email address. And I can't figure out how to do it using Selenium expressions, DOM, or XPath.

  Hi, I'm developing a web site with asp.net on localhost, I'm beginner. I wrote a login page and it works well. However when I click a link, the server can't load the page and gives this error: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) Any idea?

  Hi, I had a look in the reference doc, and Spring seems to have pretty good support for sending mail. However, I need to login to a mail account, read the messages, and download any attachments. Is downloading mail attachments supported by the Spring mail API? I know you can do this with the Java Mail API, but in the past I've found that very verbose and unpleasant to work with. EDIT: I've received several replies pointing towards tutorials that describe how to send mail with attachments, but what I'm asking about is how to read attachments from received mail. Cheers, Don

• Codeigniter: A nice straight forward tutorial on how to build a reset password/forgotten password?

  I've built a full sign up system with user account activation, login, validation, captcha etc. To complete this I now need to implement a forgot password/reset password feature.. I have created one function that generates a random password 8 characters, another method that takes that random password word and applies sha1 and hashing. Also one that takes that hashed password and stores it in a table in the database. I will keep these methods to one side as they might come in handy later on but for now I would like to know if anyone can point me to a nice tutorial for creating a password reset feature for my website.   Hello I have a question. It might be sound ridiculous, but let me explain what I want to accomplish. Right now I try to embed open source forum to by site and I want to leave forum and my site databases split. When my site users are logging in I want them also automatically be logged in to the forum system. For that I want to login within my PHP code after receiving username and password in post, but I don't know how I can get only cookies in response. I have found out that I can use curl_init(), curl_exec(), curl_close() functionality, but response from curl_exec returns whole response(page content, cookies, headers). Is there a way to receive only cookies? P.S. - If my design is totally wrong please give an advise how I can embed this functionality! I would be very thankful!

  Hello Friends, I have written a custom validation code in JQUERY. which is working fine. I have a login form which have two fields i.e. userid and password. I have written a custom JQUERY code for client side validation for these fields. This custom JQUERY code is working fine and gives me proper error messages as per the situation. But the problem with this code is that when I enter the invalid data in any or both field and press submit button of form then it displays the proper error message but at the same time when I checked it in Firebug it displays following error message when submit button of the form is clicked validate is not defined function onclick(event) { javascript: return validate(); }(click clientX=473, clientY=273) So please tell me where is I am wrong in my Jquery code. • Having trouble with post-commit hook

  I am following this tutorial that is like the hello world for post-commit I am using unbuntu 10.04. I installed svnnotify and ran $ which svnnotify which output: /usr/bin/svnnotify so I changed the path in the turorial from /usr/local/bin/svnnotify to /usr/bin/svnnotify I also tried changing the line: #!/bin/sh to #!/bin/bash since bash is the login shell in ubuntu 10.04. I tried to run it the way the tutorial originally had it, with my changes, and combinations of the two. Everytime the commit is successful but I get Warning: post-commit hook failed (exit code 1) with no output. The original way had output not found I am very new to linux and shell scripting and have exhausted everything I can think of. What am I doing wrong?

  Hi All, I am using require 'digest/sha1' to encrypt my password and save into database. During login I authenticate by matching the encrypted password saved in database and again encrypted the one use enter in password field. As of now everything works fine but now I want to do 'Forgot Password' functionality. To do this I need to decrypt the password which is saved in database to find original one. How to decrypt using digest/sha1? Or does anyone know any algorithm which supports encryption & decryption as well? I am using ruby on rails so I need Ruby way to accomplish it.

• Session being reset when using sub-domain.

  Hi, I'm trying to use sub-domains in my ASP.NET website but I'm coming across a few problems with the session being reset. I've edited my hosts file to have 'localhost', 'one.localhost' and 'two.localhost'. I can go to any of these URLs and do what I need to do and login to my system. The session mode is defined as follows in the web.config: I'm using SQLServer as the website will be ran as a webfarm. What I'm finding is when I click something that causes a postback all the session is lost and a new session id is created, when this occurs my website is now 'localhost' rather than the logged in 'one.localhost' for example. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Cheers

  I have a symfony project with symfony V1.4.2 and doctrine 1.2.2. I have installed sfDoctrineGuardPlugin-4.0.1 and used to authenticate user from external method. Everything going fine, the authentication is perfect on windows machine but whenever I take this to linux machine, the login does not work. It keeps sayting "Invalid username or password". Can anyone help me, what is going wrong. If I have problem in system, then it should not work in windows either but its working perfectly in windows but not in linux. Thanks in advance

  I heavily rely on Opera's speed dial and password management features. Lack of these two features is really stopping me from switching to another web browser such as Chrome or Firefox. Opera's password management has two unique characteristics which I rely on heavily: It saves passwords on all pages, (apparently) despite the page's meta data asking not to save passwords. It offers keyboard shortcut and button to automatically fill in username/passwords and all other fields in a login form, then automatically submit the form. However, I would like to limit the access to some directories - not to be readable or writeable for all users. svnserve --version = 1.6.6 I tried both, granting access to users and groups.
