• Comparing two collection lists

  I've been at this for few hors now and can't seem to find a solution. I have 2 invnetory lists, one a spreadsheet and the other data table. I need to match the spreadsheet agains the data table to find out if I have missing inventory. The spreadsheet should match with what I have in the db, ie the spreadsheet is like a master so when I have missing inventory in DB I need to add it an list and build a report. I thought by looping throught the spreadsheet and for each inventory in the spreadsheet loop through the data table I can achieve my goal but that proved to be wrong. Any ideas how I would do this? • Replace CR/LF in a text file only after a certain column

  I have a large text file I would like to put on my ebook-reader, but the formatting becomes all wrong because all lines are hard wrapped at or before column 80 with CR/LF, and paragraphs/headers are not marked differently, only a single CR/LF there too. What I would like is to replace all CR/LF's after column 75 with a space. That would make most paragraphs continuous. (Not a perfect solution, but a lot better to read.) Is it possible to do this with a regex? Preferably a (linux) perl or sed oneliner, alternatively a Notepad++ regex.

• Do you use Scimore SQL database ?

  There's a database engine that looks amazing for a free tool and that is Scimore. Have you had much experience with it? If so, how does it rate..particularly against Firebird? How resilient/self reliant is it? (Meaning how much downtime/maintenance is expected?) The scale out capabilities also look very interesting. I just downloaded it and have been playing around and so far it looks good. I had been looking for an easy to deploy single-user type embedded database (which Scimore has an option) and was toying with MS SQL Compact Edition and SQLite and remembered this database from a trial a few years ago. (Windows platform) I was about ready to settle in on SQLite but started thinking about other projects which are multi-user and wanted to stick with a single solution...which is why I started looking at Firebird as well.

  Hi. I search solution for ticket managment system. Do you know any commercial offers? For now I have only own dev prjects with using dspam library. Maybe I am wrong use it but it show bad results. My idea was divide all prerated ticket in 2 group: spam (it is my category) and rest to (ham - all not the same with this category). After that i trained my dspam. After I redivide all tickets in new groups (for next category) and teach dspam again (with new user - by category name)... And it works bad... My thoughs about is - bad data base tickes (i mean not correct tagging before) - bad my algorythm (it is more posible) Please give me a direction to go forward. Thanks. • How do I get the server hostname from a mounted directory with cocoa/obj-c?

  Currently when I open a file with my program I can select files on a server by clicking on the server name in the sidebar in an NSOpenPanel and then selecting the file. No problem, this works fine for using the file as long as the shared directory is mounted. I get a path like "/Volumes/SHARENAME/filename.bla". My question is how do I get the server hostname of the computer it came from. For instance, if I clicked on the device with name SERVERNAME under "Shared" in the NSOpenPanel how do I get SERVERNAME from "/Volumes/SHARENAME/filename.bla". I have looked at quite a bit of documentation and have been unable to find a solution for this problem. Any help toward this will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

• amazon design doubt

  I was looking at the amazon website and was wondering how one of the feature would have been implemented. The feature : what customers buy after viewing a particular item. If i were to develop such a feature i would probably generate a session id for each user session and store the session id-page id combination in a log file. and if a book is bought set a separate flag for the session id-page id. A separate program can then be run on the log file periodically, to identify the groups that were bought together/viewed together and that information can be stored in a persistent file. This is ofcourse a simple solution without taking into consideration the distributed nature of the servers - but would this suffice or can you help me identify a better design.

• Visual Studio Symbols stored/loaded from wrong place

  Hello, I'm rather new to symbol servers and I've been experimenting with them and Visual Studio 2008 running Windows XP(SP3). I've encountered a wierd problem as my symbols are not being cached locally in the directory I've specified all the time. The possible reasons I have found for this si that the symbols(.pdb's) are being written to VS's IDE directory and/or the symbols are somehow being written in with the .exe, which I find odd since it should be read only. The symbols are being sent to the "server" I've specified so that part of the system shouldn't be the problem. Has anyone else had this type of issue before and/or maybe a solution to this problem?   Hello, I'm currently dealing with customs messages Beans in Java. After filling in the Beans with different values, I want to produce an EDIFACT CUSDEC message corresponding to each message. For each attribute of a message Bean, I have the information to put the attribute in the right place in EDIFACT CUSEDC format. Thus, I am looking for a free tool (a Java API) which could ideally convert my full-filled Bean into an EDIFACT CUSDEC message.   Hi fellows, I want to create a professional website for my company. I'm not a designer. I know some html/css, but I don't have much experience making up advanced pages and layouts. I'd expect public area, with various articles, and a "customer zone", accessible via username and password, where clients will be able to track their orders and download files. It needs to look very modern. I don't want to use website templates, because they're too simple. I know some Wordpress, but that's mostly for blogs, and anyways you need to find a right theme besides the CMS itself... Is there any alternative solution, some kind of framework for building such portals? Preferably a system that doesn't require designer skills. Thanks!

• Redirecting user from an old web to another in Sharepoint

  Hi all: I want to add the ability to redirect users when they visit certain old sites. The URL of the old sites are unknown, but the server name is the same, e.g. Old site url: http://sharepoint/mySite/default.aspx New site url: http://sharepoint/myNewSite/... There are a lot of other pages within mySite, most of which must be redirected to the new site, but there are exceptions (e.g. user can still view the documents within the site). I thought I have to do this programmatically by somehow capturing the http request and read the url myself. Being no sharepoint guru, I had a quick google, and found that writing a web part is prehaps the best alternative for my situation. But I'm just wondering, given my situation and needs, is writing a web part, or something programmatically, really the ideal solution? Or is there a faster and quicker way to achieve what I want using Sharepoint? Thanks.

• Preserve "long" spaces in PDFBox text extraction

  I am using PDFBox to extract text from PDF. The PDF has a tabular structure, which is quite simple and columns are also very widely spaced from each-other This works really well, except that all kinds of horizontal space gets converted into a single space character, so that I cannot tell columns apart anymore (space within words in a column looks just like space between columns). I appreciate that a general solution is very hard, but in this case the columns are really far apart so that having a simple differentiation between "long spaces" and "space between words" would be enough. Is there a way to tell PDFBox to turn horizontal whitespace of more then x inches into something other than a single space? A proportional approach (x inch become y spaces) would also work.

• Django: cannot pass variable to included template?

  Hi, I got a problem where I want to use template including in Django. Here is the real example: I got 3 file: home.html (will get the context variable passed from Views), base.html (the skeleton template file) and the header.html (included by base.html). If if put the code below directly in base.html without including the header.html, the {{title}} variable passing from home is correctly called. But if I include the header.html in base.html, the {{title}} variable's value cannot be called. <title>{% block title %}{% endblock %} | {{ SITE_INFO_TITLE }}</title> Is there any solution to this problem? • Latex label/ref for "fake" external figure

  Hello, some journals require each figure to be submitted in a separate document. However, they do want the figure legends to be listed in the main document. I was thus hoping to do something along these lines: \section{Figure Legends} \begin{description} \item[Figure \ref{fig:fireAntBiology}] \label{fig:fireAntBiology} bla bla ants \end{description} This would still permit to \ref the figure from the main text. However, it doesn't work (The \ref returns the number of section "Figure Legends"). The following correctly gives a different number to each "figure": \item[Figure \ref{fig:fireAntBiology}] \begin{figure} \caption{\label{fig:fireAntBiology}} \end{figure} bla bla ants However, it also places empty figure floats throughout the document. • Why does ASP.Net rewrite relative paths for runat=server anchor controls?

  I have my UserControls in a ~/Controls folder in my solution: /Controls/TheControl.ascx If specify the following: <a runat="server" href="./?pg=1">link text</a> ASP.Net seems to want to rewrite the path to point to the absolute location. For example, If the control is on site.com/products/fish/cans.aspx the link href will be rewritten to read <a href="../../Controls/?pg=1>link text</a> Why does Asp.Net rewrite these control paths, and is there an elegant way to fix it? I just want the anchor control to spit out exactly what I tell it to!!! Is that so hard?

• Clone DB table row through MVC in MSSQL

  Is there a simple solution for duplicating table rows in MSSQL as well as all table rows with foreign keys pointing to the cloned table row? I've got a "master" table and a bunch of "child" tables which have a foreign key into the ID of the master table. I need to not only create a perfect copy of the master table, but clone each and every child table referencing the master table. Is there a simpler way to do this than creating a new row in the master table, copying in the information from the row to be cloned, then going through each child table and doing the same with each row pointing to the cloned row in the master table? I'm using a MSSQL 2005 Database accessed through C# ASP.net MVC 1.0.

  I'm not very fluent with SQL Server commands. I need a script to restore a database from a .bak file and move the logical_data and logical_log files to a specific path. I can do: restore filelistonly from disk='D:\backups\my_backup.bak' This will give me a result set with a column LogicalName, next I need to use the logical names from the result set in the restore command: restore database my_db_name from disk='d:\backups\my_backups.bak' with file=1, move 'logical_data_file' to 'd:\data\mydb.mdf', move 'logical_log_file' to 'd:\data\mylog.ldf' How do I capture the logical names from the first result set into variables that can be supplied to the "move" command? I think the solution might be trivial, but I'm pretty new to SQL Server.

  I feel that it should be something very simple and obvious but just stuck on this for the last half an hour and can't move on. All I need is to split an array of elements into N groups based on element index. For example we have an array of 30 elements [e1,e2,...e30], that has to be divided into N=3 groups like this: group1: [e1, ..., e10] group2: [e11, ..., e20] group3: [e21, ..., e30] I came up with nasty mess like this for N=3 (pseudo language, I left multiplication on 0 and 1 just for clarification): for(i=0;i<array_size;i++) { if(i>=0*(array_size/3) && i<1*(array_size/3) { print "group1"; } else if(i>=1*(array_size/3) && i<2*(array_size/3) { print "group2"; } else if(i>=2*(array_size/3) && i<3*(array_size/3) print "group3"; } } But what would be the proper general solution?   Hi all, I've PreviewMouseDown event on TreeView in order to determine if user can select other item based on some logic. If the current item data changed, will appear MessageBox that asks the user if he want to discard the changes. if user press YES , I set e.Handled = false; to enable the new selection. and if user press NO, I set e.Handled = true; to cancel the new selection. The problem is that although I set e.Handled = false , the event stop and no selection event occurs on TreeView. Someone has solution for that? Thanks in advance!

• How to use custom color for each textview in listview that extends SimpleAdapter in Android ?

  I have a listview with custom rows and that extends SimpleAdapter. Each row consist of two linear layouts : 1st having two textviews of which one is hidden in horizontal orientation, second having two textviews in horizontal orientation. Now depending on the value in hidden textview , I want to setcolor for the remaining items for the row. To put it as simple: each listview item has some custom colors the value of which comes from the hidden field. I have done this by overriding getview() for the simpleadapter and returning view for each, but this makes list very slow to render (and that I think is obvious as so much of work for each view before showing it). Can I do this in some more efficient way ? like making views and then add up to list instead of using xml layout maybe one solution OR any other ? Any help ? Thanks.
