  • How to sleep computer via batch file? (Windows 7)

    So I want to make a batch file that will sleep my computer after a period of time. The closest thing I have found is placing it in standby, but seems to work differently then the sleep button on my keyboard (longer bootup, doesn't wake on mouse click). Any ideas? Would it be easier in python or c#? The less then ideal technique mentioned above is calling this in the cmd prompt: Rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState

  • "save the changes" message after removing the protection from workbook Excel 2010

    Some time ago I protected the Excel 2010 file from the path File Protect workbook Encrypt with password and gave it a password. Now that I removed that password via below method: Open the workbook and use Save As In the lower right of the file window will be "Tools" Choose "General Options" Clear the password. Save over your old file. the file is openable without wanting a password. But the problem is when I open it and close it immediately, even without moving the active cell, the message "Do you want to save the changes you made to 'test.lsx'?" appears. While there hasn't occurred any changes to that file so why I face this message any time I want to close the file? Hasn't the file been corrupted?

  • Fixing damaged partition table

    This is continuation of Recover Extended Partition , but this time I have different problem related partition table it self. I managed to restore partition that I needed and backed up files that were crucial to me (at least those that I had space to store somewhere) OK now get to the problem. My partition table is corrupted, booting RIP Linux I can mount it in truecrypt (and other ones that recovered), but that's basically it. When I launch GParted I have unallocated drive. Basically I'd like to write a batch file that switches that setting for a large group of file types and be able to share it with my entire team. Clicking in the UI is time consuming for everyone.   • Batch convert AppleWorks files into PDF within originating folder, delete original file?

    Probably AppleScript is the way to go with this - I have found scripts online that do this, but snag on oversize printable area and put files in the same folder - I need files to stay in the folder the source came from. If the script also deleted the original AppleWorks file, that would be even better, but not required.   • Is there some file browser that uses low level functions to browse hard disk?

    I have Windows 7, NTFS hard disk. I have detected rootkit files but can't delete them through Windows explorer, obviously because they are not visible. Is there some other file browser that is using low level function calls, lower that win api, so that I can try to see and study these files before removal. I know the exact locations. I know that I can load some live CD and delete them, but I wonder about the first possible solution.

  • How to find who deleted a line from a file in a SVN repository?

    I work on a very large project (10000+ versions) and sometimes it happened that I need to know who of the other users deleted some line in a file. Is there a way to do that that? I can do svn blame with revision number to check if a line exists in that revision, then see in which revision the line is gone and see who commited that revision, but that procedure is lame with that large project. Is there a smarter way to do that?

    Does anybody know if there's a keyboard shortcut equivilant to the right click - New context menu in explorer? Given that I suspect that there isn't, does anybody know of an explorer extension that offers something similar? It would be great to have a key combination that yielded an intellisense style dropdown (or similar) of the available file types!

  • I wrote a new X11 keyboard layout file, how do I get my system to recognize it?

    I like to configure my keys my way, so I wrote a keyboard symbols file and I put it in /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/cat I use it by running setxkbmap cat -variant dvorak (and it works), but it doesn't show up in the console configuration (dpkg-reconfigure console-setup) nor in the Gnome keyboard settings... nor anywhere else, so I have to run setxkbmap every time. I suppose that I have to register it somewhere, but where? Any hints? Thanks!

    I have a lot of subdomains in the main domain xxx.zzz So, for this domain, I can have aaa.xxx.zzz bbb.xxx.zzz ccc.xxx.zzz ddd.xxx.zzz eee.xxx.zzz ....ETC.... Istead of adding each subdomain in the host file, I would like to add only the main domain xxx.zzz and then to be able to access all the subdomains. I have tryed with *.xxx.zzz but apparently, this will not work (Linux or Windows). Any idea is welcome. Thank you very much.

    I'm following a video tutorial where the author (who uses textmate) can open files by using "mate". for example mate .git/config will open this config file I'm using textwrangler however so I don't have that option. I did try edit .README once when i tried to open the README file of an application, but it opened a blank README file in textwrangler instead of the file with the text in it so any idea how I can open this .git/config file (or any other file) using textwrangler? I'm using Mac snow leopard
