• How do you diagnose a 500 error on Heroku when there is no error message in the logs?

  I have a Rails app on Heroku that is serving 500 errors at random intervals. Web pages will display "Internal server error" in plain text, instead of the usual "We're sorry. Something went wrong." page. When I refresh the page, it works fine. • MS Word: Mailmerge hyperlinks with query get url string with a mergefield.

  Hi, I'm trying to send an email merging one document (docx) with a contacts database (via OleDB). Using MSWord2007, it seems easy (it works for easy things: name, address, ...) but I can't find how fill an query-get url string with a merge field inside an hyperlink. An hyperlink like: Click here where here is an hyperlink to http://domain.com/test.php?contact=contact@contactdomain.com where contact@contactdomain.com is the address of the contact, a merge field. I've tried the special/merge fields: {HYPERLINK "http://domain.com/test.php?contact={MERGEFIELD contactEmail}" \o "Here"} but it doesn't work, sometimes it merge only the first record and then send all the mails with the same address, I got this alternating the view with ALT+F9. This support doc doesn't work for me because I don't have the complete URL in my database for each contact, and I can't change the design of the table or add a view (it's from the CRM), I don't like to do it exporting the table and adding the field. BulkInsert and BulkCopy. the second one uses linq to sql and OpenXML. This sort of appeals to me as I am using linq to sql already and prefer it over ado.net. However as one person pointed out in the posts what he just going around the issue at the cost of performance( nothing wrong with that in my opinion) First I will talk about the 2 ways in the first tutorial I am using VS2010 Express, .net 4.0, MVC 2.0, SQl Server 2005 Is ado.net 2.0 the most current version? Based on the technology I am using, is there some updates to what I am going to show that would improve it somehow? Is there any thing that these tutorial left out that I should know about? I found that with BatchCopy and 500,000 batch size it took only 5 seconds to complete. I then tried with a batch size of 1,000 and it only took 8 seconds. So much faster then the bulkinsert one above. Now I tried the other tutorial. I don't get how the SP works. Like I don't get the whole thing. I don't know if OPENXML has some batch insert under the hood but I do not even know how to take this example SP and change it to fit my tables since like I said I don't know what is going on. I also don't know what would happen if the object you have more tables in it. Like say I have a ProductName table what has a relationship to a Product table or something like that. In linq to sql you could get the product name object and make changes to the Product table in that same object. So I am not sure how to take that into account. I am not sure if I would have to do separate inserts or what. So I really narrowed it done to the linq to sql bulk insert way or bulk copy. I am just not sure how to do it when you have relationship for either way. I am not sure how they both stand up when doing updates instead of inserts as I have not gotten around to try it yet. I don't think I will ever need to insert/update more than 50,000 records at one type but at the same time I know I will have to do validation on records before inserting so that will slow it down and that sort of makes linq to sql nicer as your got objects especially if your first parsing data from a xml file before you insert into the database. • Facebook og:url ignored in favour of a Facebook hosted page about the og entity

  I am trying to implement the Like button on my pages. Those pages represent the review page for a product. When a user Likes the page, it shows up in Facebook (not as a link, but as liking an entity), however when you click on the entity in Facebook it links through to a facebook.com hosted page representing the page. I want the user to be redirected to the og:url page? This happens for example when you Like an artist page on Grroveshar: http://grooveshark.com/#!/artist/Elbow/4795 I am clearly "doing it wrong". I am using the following markup to include the SDK. • Python DictReader - Skipping rows with missing columns?

  heya, I have a Excel .CSV file I'm attempting to read in with DictReader. All seems to be well, except it seems to omit rows, specifically those with missing columns. Our input looks like: mail,givenName,sn,lorem,ipsum,dolor,telephoneNumber ian.bay@blah.com,ian,bay,3424,8403,2535,+65(2)34523534545 mike.gibson@blah.com,mike,gibson,3424,8403,2535,+65(2)34523534545 ross.martin@blah.com,ross,martin,,,,+65(2)34523534545 david.connor@blah.com,david,connor,,,,+65(2)34523534545 chris.call@blah.com,chris,call,3424,8403,2535,+65(2)34523534545 So some of the rows have missing lorem/ipsum/dolor columns, and it's just a string of commas for those. We're reading it in with: def read_gd_dump(input_file="blah 20100423.csv"): gd_extract = csv.DictReader(open('blah 20100423.csv'), restval='missing', dialect='excel') return dict([(row['something'], row) for row in gd_extract]) And I checked that "something" (the key for our dict) isn't one of the missing columns, I had originally suspected it might be that. It's one of the columns after that. However, DictReader seems to completely skip over the rows. I tried setting restval to something, didn't seem to make any difference. I can't seem to find anything in Python's CSV docs (http://docs.python.org/library/csv.html) that would explain this behaviour, but I may have misread something. Any ideas? Thanks, Victor

  I want to get all midi (*.mid) files from a site that's set up pretty simple in terms of directory tree structure. I wish we had wget installed here, but that's another party.... The site is VGMusic.com and the path containing all of the midi files is: http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/nes/ I tried glob'ing it out, but I suppose that glob only works locally? • Checking if language is set in url with regex

  I have am working on a multi language file. My urls look something like this: http://www.mydomain.com/en/about/info http://www.mydomain.com/nl/about/info Now I use a small regex script that redirect the user when they use a link without language. The script looks like this: preg_match('~^/[a-z]{2}/~', $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'] This finds out is there is a language set en|nl|de etc. This works fine on all links except for these: http://www.mydomain.com/en http://www.mydomain.com/nl There is no trailing slash so the regex can not find the given values. Anyone know a fix for this?

Also if you filter your home feed to just Spotify stories (http://graph.facebook.com/me/home?filter=app_174829003346), you'll get a bunch of useless stories without attachments (assuming your friends shared music recently) Anyone have any ideas how to access the playlist details, or is it unavailable to third party developers (if so, this is a very a bad user experience, because the story makes no sense without the attachment). I am able to fetch scrobbles without any trouble using the user_actions.listens. Also, if there is a recent activity story, e.g. "Peter listened to The Shins", I am able to get information about the band. The problem only happens on attachments.

  My team is trying to setup an Apache reverse proxy from a customer's site into one of our web applications. http://www.example.com/app1/some-path maps to http://internal1.example.com/some-path Inside our application we use struts and have redirect = true set on certain actions in order to provide certain functionality. The 302 status messages from these re-directs cause the user to break out of the proxy resulting in an error page for the end user. HTTP/1.1 302 Found Location: http://internal.example.com/some-path/redirect Is there any way to setup the reverse proxy in apache so that the redirects work correctly? http://www.example.com/app1/some-path/redirect
