  Hi, I have a text box where the value the result of a calculation carried out in jQuery. What I would like to do, using jQuery, is to display brackets around the number in the text box if the number is negative. The number may be used again later so I would then have to remove the brackets so further calculations could be carried out. Any ideas as to how I could implement this? Thanks Zaps

  I am currently trying to build a very basic serial shell with my arduino. I am able to get an output from the device using Serial.read() and can get the character it has outputted, but I cannot work out how to then add that character to a longer to form the full command.   I want to add an event handler to some dynamically added elements. I simplified my problem into the basic code below. I am using the new JQuery 1.7 on feature to say "hey for all labels in the CancelSurvey id element call this notify function when they are clicked." function notify(event) { console.log(event.data.name); } $('#CancelSurvey').on('click', 'label', { name: $(this).attr("id") }, notify); I want to pass the id of the label as parameter "name". When I try to alert this it is undefined (they are defined in the html created). I believe that using the $(this) is not referencing the label selector in this case. It actually seems to be referencing the document itself. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

  I'm attempting to run a query that adds up the total number of subjects in a class. A class has many subjects. There is a 'teachersclasses' table between teachers (the user table) and classes. The principles sounds pretty simple but I'm having some trouble in getting my page to display the number of subjects for each class (directly associated with the teacher) This is what I have so far, trying to make use of the COUNT with a nested SELECT: SELECT (SELECT count(*) FROM subjects WHERE subjects.classid = class.classid) AS total_subjects, class.classname, class.classid FROM class Then I am calling up 'num_subjects' to present the total within a while loop: <?php echo $row['total_subjects']?> From the above, I am receiving the total subjects for a class, but within the same table row (for one class) and my other while loop doesnt run anymore, which returns all of the classes associated with a teacher :( ... Bit of a mess now! I know to return the classes for a particular teacher, I can do an additional WHERE clause on the session of 'teacherid' but I think my query is getting too complicated for me that errors are popping up everywhere. Anyone have a quick fix for this! Thanks very much

  How can I loop through the array below and an element per array, with key "url_slug" and value "foo"? I tried with array_push but that gets rid of the key names (it seems?) Doing a foreach($array as $k = $v) doesn't do it either, I think. The new array should be exactly the same only having 4 elements per array instead of 3, with the key / values above.   Hi there, I have an .NET application that always starts itself with its border style to 'None', as it is supposed to be an full-screen application with a fixed resolution. However, i would like to add the window border (Fixed3D) to this window when the application starts so that I am able to move it around my desktop. My first idea was to have a tray app running, monitoring event messages, and somehow change the window style when this specific application starts.   I'm writing the JS for a chat appication I'm working on in my free time, and I need to have HTML identifiers that change according to user submitted data. This is usually something conceptually shaky enough that I would not even attempt it, but I don't see myself having much of a choice this time. What I need to do then is to escape the HTML id to make sure it won't allow for XSS or breaking HTML. As you can see, right now I'm using the built-in escape() function, but I'm not sure of how good this is supposed to be compared to other alternatives. I'm mostly used to sanitizing input before it goes in a text node, not an id itself.

  Having a nightmare at the moment and just can't see why it isn't working I have a value in the form H:i (ie 10:00, 13:30) etc called $time What I want to do is create two new values, $startTime which is 30 mins before $time and $endTime which is 30 mins after $time I have tried the following but just doesn't seem to want to work $startTime = date("H:i",strtotime('-30 minutes',$time)); $endTime = date("H:i",strtotime('+30 minutes',$time)); If I pass through 10:00 as $time and echo out both $startTime and $endTime I get: $startTime = 00:30 $startTime = 01:30

• Adding images to an array memory issue

  Hello all, I'm currently facing the following issue: My app dynamically creates images (320 x 480 pixels) and adds them to a NSMutableArray. I need those images inside that array in order to allow users to browse through them back and forth. I only need to keep the latest 5 images. So I wrote a method like below: - (void)addImageToArray:(UIImage*)theImage { if ([myMutableArray count] < 5) { [myMutableArray addObject:theImage]; } else { [myMutableArray removeObjectAtIndex:0]; [myMutableArray addObject:theImage]; } } This method basically does what it's supposed to do. However, in instruments I can see, that memory usage is permanently incrementing. At some point, even though I do not have any memory leaks, the app finally crashes. The way I see it, XCode does remove the image from my array, but does not release it. Is there a way I can make sure, that the object I want to remove from my array will also get released? Maybe my approach is completely wrong and I need to find a different way. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance

  I'm not sure if this can be done. I was looking to for a way to add a subject line to an email address hidden via reCaptcha Mailhide. Usually we have a mailto tag which include a subject like so:- <a href="mailto:[email protected]">The text of your link</a> However when we use recaptcha mailhide, we encrypt the email address and the reCaptcha decrypts it for us on completion of the captcha (sort of) So nowhere am I actually setting the subject of the email. Is there a workaround for this?
