  • Deploy binary hex registry via GPO or PowerShell

    - by Prashanth Sundaram
    I am trying to deploy a custom registry entry which I exported from a test machine. It looks like below. I came across THIS similar request on another site, but I couldn't make it to work. "TextFontSimple"=hex:3c,00,00,00,1f,00,00,f8,00,00,00,40,dc,00,00,00,00,00,00,\ 00,00,00,00,ff,00,31,43,6f,75,72,69,65,72,20,4e,65,77,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,\ 00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 As per the other solution, my PS command below, throws error."A parameter cannot be found that matches parameter name" Set-ItemProperty -Path "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\MailSettings" -Name "TextFontSimple" -PropertyType Binary -Value ([byte[]] (0x3c,0x00,0x00,0x00,0x1f....0x00)) Any ideas? ====EDIT===== The key & value already exists. When I use Get-ItemProperty PSPath : Microsoft.PowerShell.Core\Registry::HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\MailSettings PSParentPath : Microsoft.PowerShell.Core\Registry::HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common PSChildName : MailSettings PSProvider : Microsoft.PowerShell.Core\Registry TextFontSimple : {60, 0, 0, 0...}

  • SCCM deploy from VMware XP image

    - by HannesFostie
We recently set up the latest version of SCCM and I managed to capture a .wim image from a virtual machine (build and capture task sequence). I want to use this .wim file to deploy winXP to different hardware, and therefor need to add device drivers to the task sequence. I created a driver package per laptop type, and deployed for the first time. However, I am getting a BSOD (0x00007B) which leads me to believe theres a problem with the storage drivers. After adjusting the task sequence to try and point to the mass storage drivers (which are applied at F6, I suppose) I do not get a list of compatible drivers (the list is empty). I looked around, and found some issues regarding hdc class drivers that are not recognized as mass storage drivers. The workaround suggested changing the INF file to make the driver a SCSIAdapter class driver, and importing these again, but to no avail. The list remains empty. Any help is much appreciated

  • Best way to deploy my node.js app on a Varnish/Nginx server

    - by Saif Bechan
I am about to deploy a brand new node.js application, and I need some help setting this up. The way my setup is right now is as follows. I have Varnish running on external_ip:80 I have Nginx behind running on internal_ip:80 Both are listening on port 80, one internal port, one external. NOTE: the node.js app runs on WebSockets Now I have the my new node.js application that will listen on port 8080. Can I have varnish set up that it is in front of both nginx and node.js. Varnish has to proxy the websocket to port 8080, but then the static files such as css, js, etc has to go trough port 80 to nignx. Nginx does not support websockets out of the box, else I would so a setup like: varnish - nignx - node.js

  • Can't deploy an ejb bean on jboss

    - by leo
I am try to deploy a jar to an jboss server. It works on my environment. But when I deployed the same jar on another server, i kept getting an error saying that the persistence unit is already registered. There is no other bean using the same name and the same persistence unit name. I tried to restart the server and remove the tmp, work, data directory but still get the same error. here is my error: ObjectName: jboss.j2ee:service=EJB3,module=wess_jpa.jar State: FAILED Reason: java.lang.RuntimeException: javax.management.InstanceAlreadyExistsException: persistence.units:unitName=dses_wess already registered. This is almost identical to this issue in jboss forum but there is no solution: http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=4211687#4211687

  • Deploying .NET components (upgrade the component for only a single client application)

    - by Vytas999
I use Visual Studio .NET to create a component that will be shared by two client applications. Eventually, I plan to deploy new version of this component. However, not all of the new versions will be compatible with both client applications. When I deploy component and the client applications, I must ensure that I can upgrade the component for a single client application. I must also minimize the need for configuration changes when I deploy new version of the component. What are possible ways to achieve this goal?

  • How to deploy a rar file to jboss

    - by Joshua
Refer original post here for a reference to the original issue. What plugin should I use to deploy the jackrabbit rar as a separate entity to the jboss installation. I tried the rar module within the maven-ear-plugin which was actually packaging this within the ear file and the rar plugin which seems to be used for packaging a rar. Currently I am using the antrun plugin to deploy the rar file and it's associated ds.xml, is there a different plugin to automate direct deployment.

  • How to keep multiple connectionString passwords safe, separate, and easy to deploy?

    - by Funka
I know there are plenty of questions here already about this topic (I've read through as many as I could find), but I haven't yet been able to figure out how best to satisfy my particular criteria. Here are the goals: The ASP.NET application will run on a few different web servers, including localhost workstations for development. This means encrypting web.config using a machine key is out. The application will decide which connection string to use based on the server name (using a switch statement). For example, "localhost" and "dev.example.com" will use the DevDatabaseConnectionString, "test.example.com" will use the TestDatabaseConnectionString, and "www.example.com" will use the ProdDatabaseConnectionString, for example. Ideally, the exact same executables and web.config should be able to run on any of these environments, without needing to tailor or configure each environment separately every time that we deploy (something that seems like it would be easy to forget/mess up one day during a deployment, which is why we moved away from having just one connectionstring that has to be changed on each target). Deployment is currently accomplished via FTP. We will not have command-line access to the production web server. This means using aspnet_regiis.exe is out. (I could run on localhost, however, if this would still work.) We would prefer to not have to recompile the application whenever a password changes, so using web.config (or db.config or whatever) seems to make the most sense. A developer should not be able to decrypt the production database password. If a developer checks the source code out onto their localhost laptop (which would determine that it should be using the DevDatabaseConnectionString, remember?) and the laptop gets lost or stolen, it should not be possible to get at the other connection strings. Thus, having a single RSA private key to un-encrypt all three passwords cannot be considered. (Contrary to #3 above, it does seem like we'd need to have three separate key files if we went this route; these could be installed once per machine, and should the wrong key file get deployed to the wrong server, the worst that should happen is that the app can't decrypt anything---and not allow the wrong host to access the wrong database!) I know this is probably a subjective question (asking for a "best" way to do something), but given the criteria I've mentioned, I'm hoping that a single best answer will indeed arise. Thank you!

  • Deploy a jar in Jetty

    - by Dimitri
Hi guys, I was wondering if is it possible to deploy a jar file in Jetty? If not, are there applications servers who can do so? I am beginner. I am asking this question because all the docs that i have found, it seems that we can only deploy war archive in application servers. Is that true?

  • Maven won't use public key to deploy

    - by magneticMonster
I'm using SSH to deploy my Java artifacts to a server. I have the keys set up so that I can interactively SSH to the server without requiring a password, but when I try to run the "mvn deploy" or "mvn release:perform" commands, it hangs (at what I assume is the password prompt). My ~/.m2/settings.xml file contains the username for the server (because it is different than my local username) and references the id of the server that requires the different user.

  • How do you deploy your Rails application?

    - by Michael Sync
Do you upload your rail application to your host via FTP first? I'm currently using Passenger and Capistrano. If I do "cap deploy" in my local machine then I think Capistrano should upload my rail application to my host, right? Someone from my host is saying that I need to run "cap deploy" in server. I think it doesn't make sense.

  • What are some good, free tools to run automated security audits for PHP code?

    - by James Simpson
I've been looking for some time now and have come up short. The most promising I found was Spike PHP, which seems to no longer work. I'm looking to scan my code for potential risks of SQL Injection, XSS, etc. I've gone through most of my code manually, but with a few hundred thousand lines of code, I'm sure I missed things. If possible, are there any tools that can be downloaded and analyze code on my local machine rather than installing to the live server (this isn't a requirement if not)?

  • How do IE, FF, and Chrome compare in security? [closed]

    - by cable729
I'm trying to determine which of the three main browsers (Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer) are the most secure and safe. Right now, in our system, Firefox 10 and IE 8 are cleared as 'good-to-use', but Chrome isn't. Is Chrome really less secure than Firefox and IE, or are the IT folks are slow at updating (Firefox 12 and IE 9 and 10 preview are out right now)? Completely rewrote question. I found the original was not specific enough and the edits started sapping its focus

  • Looking for a SECURE Audio Player for Windows

    - by Avery Payne
I know there are dozens of audio players for windows, but which one has: the best security record (least reported vulnerabilities) the least number of security exploits the best security implementation, along with the reasoning behind the implementaiton (i.e. how it is handled). As Windows users start to see more and more reports of media-based attacks against Windows Media Player (& co.) it would be useful to have a player that has some proactive security approaches to handling exploits.

My main development machine is a Windows XP PC, which is connected to the router with an ethernet cable. I also have a MacBook Pro laptop, which is connects to the network via WLAN (WPA-PSK). Besides enabling the Windows firewall, not using IE, having an up-to-date antivirus program and strong passwords, what do I need to know to keep my customers' data safe on these computers?

  • Can I lose files when changing security on an XP drive within Windows 7?

    - by Will
Hard to come up with a title for this one, sheesh. Have a friend whose computer went down. He asked me to get all his data off his drive. His old computer was running XP. So, I've plugged it into my Windows 7 computer. When I attempt to open up his Documents and Settings folder, I get prompted to elevate in order to "permanently get access to this folder." If I do this, will I be able to access the files in this directory, or will all the current files be lost? I may be overly paranoid about this, but I can't find any information about exactly what will happen when I do this. TIA.
