• How to install Konica Minolta PagePro 1300W to Windows 7 64-bit?

  I recently switched to Windows 7 (Home Pro, 64-bit) to discover that my Konica Minolta PagePro 1300W printer no longer works. When connected, Win7 prompts that it can not install a driver for the device. I have done a lot of googling to solve this problem, with no luck so far. From Konica Minolta official website, I can find drivers only for Windows XP/2000. My current reasoning is that they currently don't and most likely are not going to support Win7 let alone 64-bit version of it for this rather old printer. So my question is: does anyone have any good tips on how to make this printer work on my system? Is there any other place I could look for drivers, or in generally, do you know any workarounds that could let me printer work? One of the workaround I have been considering is to install a Windows XP / Ubuntu Linux on a virtualbox and use that system when I really really need to printer. This is of course not the optimal solution, but would let me possibly to use the printer until I buy a newer model.

  I am trying to setup Team Foundation Server 2010 on Windows Server 2008 R2 using a single server configuration. During the "Readiness Checks" phase of the configuration wizard, I am facing an issue that i preventing me from communicating with the domain controller (which is Windows Server 2000). [ System Checks ] TF255435: This computer is a member of an Active Directory domain, but the domain controllers are not accessible. Network problems might be preventing access to the domain. Verify that the network is operational, and then retry the readiness checks. Other options include configuring Team Foundation Server specifying a local account in the custom wizard or joining the computer to a workgroup. http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=164053&clcid=0x409 After reading the log file, the main issue I am encountering appears to be: The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed. (type SystemException) I have read in several other locations that the solution to this issue is to: Leave the domain Restart Join a workgroup Restart Rejoin the domain Unfortunately, I have tried this several times now and the issue persists. Is there anything I can try on the either the client machine or the domain controller that may help solve my issue?

  Hi all, I have a Windows 2008 SP2 Active Directory Domain, which has clients of Vista, Win 2000 XP and Windows 7 as members. I installed Squid 2.7 Stable 8 on Windows 2008 SP2 trying to configure NTLM based authentication when surfing Internet. Basically have defined 2 groups for internet allow and deny based on authorization Internet access is allowed. But after trying for over 3 weeks, seems that the authentication does not happen. The browser keeps on asking for user name & password. I would like to know if there is any solution for this. I’m totally frustrated and unable to move forward. • SQL Server 2008 Restore from Backup fails with error 3241 'cannot process this media family'

  I am attempting to backup a database from a SQL Server instance on one machine and restore it to another, and I am encountering the frequently discovered 'SQL Server cannot process this media family' error. Each of my instances are SQL Server 2008, but with different patch levels Restore: 10.0.2531.0 Backup: 10.0.1600.22 ((SQL_PreRelease).080709-1414 ) The restore DB is express. Not sure about the backup version. The backup version is on a virtual private server. The restore is on my development box. When I restore to a different database on the source (backup) server, it restores fine. Lots of stuff on google about this issue, some on stackoverflow about this issue, but nothing which is this exact situation. Any thoughts? It should be straightforward to do a backup and restore from one machine to another (having done this thousands of times in with SQL 6.5,7,2000,2005). Any ideas how to restore a database in this situation, which gives this error when attempting to restore? PARTIAL RESOLUTION: When I restored to a different box, running SQL 2008 Express on Windows Server 2003, all worked well. It just wouldn't work on the Windows 7 box. Not sure why. If anyone else has a similar experience, please let me know (there are many similar issues in different forums out there).

• uWSGI log file...permission denied to read file

  I have a server running Django/Nginx/uWSGI with uWSGI in emperor mode, and the error log for it (the vassal-level error log, not the emperor-level log) has a continual permissions error every time it spawns a new worker, like so: Tue Jun 26 19:34:55 2012 - Respawned uWSGI worker 2 (new pid: 9334) Error opening file for reading: Permission denied Problem is, I don't know what file it's having trouble opening; it's not the log file, obviously, since I'm looking at it and it's writing to that without issue. Any way to find out? I'm running the apt-get version of uWSGI 1.0.3-debian through Upstart on Ubuntu 12.04. The site is working successfully, aside from what seems like a memory leak...hence my looking at the log file.   I have a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pa 1538 laptops and installed Ubuntu 10.04 on it (Kernel 2.6.32). Main problem is that the fans of the notebook are always on even when the temperature is low. Another problem is that the display brightness can not be adjusted. Since some years I use Dell laptops and never experienced any ACPI problems so I thought that it is no longer needed to fix ACPI tables but now I have this crap of a laptop and I think I have to do it. Unfortunately I need some help repairing the DSDT.   As per various blogs, HAproxy can be gracefully restarted using the following command: sudo haproxy -f /etc/haproxy/haproxy.cfg -p /var/run/haproxy.pid -sf $(cat /var/run/haproxy.pid) TO verify this, I had set up a apache bench script which contiguously sent message to haproxy. Ideally, whenever I restarted my server the script should not have an affect on the apache bunch execiton. But, it seems that whenever Haproxy is restarted apache bench scripts terminate and the connection to load balancer is lost. • Windows Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008 R2, and Registry Backups

  Hi folks! As a developer, I've installed various instances of SQL Sever (2000, 2005, 2008, R2) from all the ways back to 2003 and I've never had an install fail on me....until yesterday. I was installing SQL Server 2008 R2 onto a Windows Server 2008 R2 hosted virtual server and the install finished, but failed on every component. To make matters worse, it was in a state in which I could not uninstall it either, even using command line options! I dug around a bit, but didn't get very far with it. The error is enigmatic and Google didn't turn up much hope. So today, I am going to try again after having the VM image wiped overnight. My question is how can I guard against the same failure today? I don't mind if it fails, but then I know it may be something wrong with the base image I'm getting from the hosting company. I really don't feel like paying another $20 to wipe the VM and I have no idea why it failed. Is it enough for me to backup the registry so that I can restore it in case it fails? What about the installation files? Do I need to have a tool to clean that out, too? Sorry, I'm no sys admin so no real experience with backup/restore aside from System Restore! So any advice would be appreciated!

• XP machines on Domain not reporting WMI Data in a 2003 Server Environment

  I am running into a very quirky issue and I hope someone out there can help. We use a monitoring program for several networks we oversee that is WMI data dependent for a great deal of it's functionality. The Windows 2000 Professional workstations, as well as the 2003 servers in our network report WMI data fine, the Windows XP professional machines will not let me view them from within the WMI snap in for MMC (they return a Win32: Access Denied) error. I am of course logged in with an account with domain admin privileges on the domain controller when I attempt it. DCOM is enabled in component services, and the remote security option is set to allow as well. If we remove the machine from the domain and rejoin it, some workstations will show up as WMI enabled temporarily and then when I try to access them again later I get the access denied error again out of the blue. Hoping someone out there has had a similar problem or they have advice. I have had this problem with the firewall turned on or off. Thanks for your time! -Az

  On PSOD no VMKernel Dump File is written to disk and no message is written to screen (the screen is either blank or full of dashes). I need this data to understand why the system crashes; any help as to how to fix this to write a dump file would be appreciated. Thanks. Notes: VMKCore partition exists, is active, and is configured (esxcfg-dumppart -l). esxcfg-advcfg -g /Misc/PsodOnCosPanic = 1. esxcfg-advcfg -g /Misc/CosCoreFile = /var/core. esxcfg-dumppart -C -D /vmfs/devices/disks/ = "Error running command. • ADSIEdit Cleanup After Exchange 2003 Crash During Transition To Exchange 2010

  Hello all. I would value some input from a few Exchange 2010 experts. I have almost completed the transition from Exchange 2003 Standard to Exchange 2010 Standard. Everything went smoothly until I tried to uninstall Exchange 2003. At that point the server bit the dust and died completely. I now have NO access to the old Exchange System Management MMC as I am running Windows 2008 SR2 and Windows 7 only. I can only fix this with ADSIEdit, EMShell, and EMConsole. I have used the 2010 shell to move/remove/verify that all mailboxes, public folders and OAB are hosted on Exchange 2010. I also verified that the routing connector has been deleted. The only two things that were not done was to remove the Recipient Update Service and actually perform the removal of the 2003 software. I have spent a lot of time going through ASDIedit and have located the old Administrative Group and the Exchange 2003 server listed under it. I also located the Recipient Update Service which includes two entries; Enterprise and my domain name. I have read that it is an unwise idea to remove the old administrative group so I won't bother messing with that. I am repeatedly getting three warnings in the Application Log. Both are from MSExchangeTransport EventID 5006 (Cannot find route to Mailbox Server OLDSERVER) and 5020 (The topology doesn't contain a route to Exchange 2000 Server or Exchange Server 2003) So my questions are: To clean out AD of the old Exchange 2003 info, can I delete the server name folder (Configuration - Services - Microsoft Exchange - ExchOrg - Administrative Groups - First Administrative Group - Servers - Old Server) and also delete the Update Recipient Service (Enterprise) and Update Recipient Service (DOMAIN) containers safely? Are there any additional items I need to address to ensure the AD is clean? Thanks in advance for your help!

• haproxy and tomcat intermittent hangs

  I am trying to run haproxy in front of tomcat on a Solaris x86 box, but I am getting intermittent failures. At seemingly random intervals, the request just hangs until haproxy times out the connection. I thought maybe it was my app, but I've been able to reproduce it with the tomcat manager app, and hitting tomcat directly there is no problems at all. Hitting it repeatedly with curl will cause the error within 10-15 tries curl -ikL http://admin:admin@<my server>:81/manager/status haproxy is running on port 81, tomcat on port 7000. haproxy returns a 504 gateway timeout to the client, and puts this into the log file: Sep 7 21:39:53 localhost haproxy[16887]: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:65168 [07/Sep/2009:21:39:23.005] http_proxy http_proxy/tomcat7000 5/0/0/-1/30014 504 194 - - sHNN 0/0/0/0/0 0/0 "GET /manager/status HTTP/1.1" Tomcat shows nothing, no error in the logs and no indication that the request ever makes it to the tomcat server. • Dell Poweredge 2600 RAID Transfer How-to

  Help, please! Hardware: Dell Poweredge 2600 PERC 4 SCSI Drives, 1 standalone 3 in a RAID 5 configuration OS: Windows 2000 Server In other words, a fairly old system. Anyway, we are in the process of taking over support for this site. The current tech wants out and is fading from view fast, so we need to solve this problem: The standalone disk (where the OS was) failed. We've replaced the disk, installed the OS, but need to know exactly how to proceed from here. I've never worked with a RAID system before, so I don't want to touch anything without knowing what I'm doing. We are not certain if the site will want us to attempt to recover the array or wait for the old tech to become available. We have replaced the server with a temporary box, and recovered MOST of the data from an online backup service. However, the other tech failed to backup a part of the data and the only copy of it is on this RAID array. Hence, our caution. We have poked minimally around in the boot-up PERC config utility, and it seems to me that that's where we'll need to be to reclaim the array. Another possibility is that there is some Dell software for the RAID controller we need to acquire. Can anyone provide clues as to how to proceed from here? Any help GREATLY appreciated.

  We host about 30 websites using typical shared hosting plans using ASP.NET and SQL 2000/2005/2008. I am now wondering about hosting all of these websites using our own virtual private server. This is clearly cheaper but comes with a lot of questions I need answers to: Is the risk of having to keep this VPS server up and running worth it? Until now, the host provider has managed the server and we have not had to worry about crashes, downtime, software patches etc. We are not server administrators, we are programmers, so this is not really our expertise. On the other hand, it may not be hard to learn. When we make a website live, we log in to a domain management control panel and change the primary and secondary name servers to point to our shared web host: Eg ns1.sharedwebhost.com and ns2.sharedwebhost.com These name servers are going to have to change when we have a VPS. I don’t understand anything about how to set this up. Is there some useful info anyone could direct me to? Or is there software we need to install to make the primary and secondary name servers work on our VPS? The control panel we have for shared hosting comes with DNS management like this: http://www.yart.com.au/stackoverflow/dns.png What software would I need to install to create this for each site we host at a VPS? The control panel we have for shared hosting also comes with a POP email interface that allows email addresses to be added easily by our customers. Is this something that can be easily set up at a VPS so clients can manage their own email addresses? Is there software we need to install to make this work?

• 426 Connection closed; transfer aborted.

  Hi, I have an IIS FTP set up on Windows 2003 SP2 (S1). Everyday in the early morning, a script on another server (S2) will run and initiate FTP transfer of pulling log files from S1 to S2. The FTP client we're using is built-in FTP.exe in Windows 2000 on S2. Recently we replaced S1 with a new server however we kept the IP address. There are multiple IP addresses on new S1. Ever since the new S1 was in place, the '426 Connection closed; transfer aborted.' errors haven been occuring randomly. The log indicated that the transfer started ok however the file cannot be transferred completely, as per log below: mget access*.log 200 Type set to A. 200 PORT command successful. 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for access02232010.log(205777167 bytes). 426 Connection closed; transfer aborted. ftp: 20454832 bytes received in 283.95Seconds 72.04Kbytes/sec. The firewall monitor suggested that the connection was setup in passive mode however I've been told that MS FTP.exe doesn't support passive mode. Though I can see the response of 'entering passive mode' from server when typing in 'quote pasv'. My network admin has told me to try the transfer in active mode however I don't know how to open active mode on client side. It's getting really frustrating. Wish someone here has the right knowledge/experience could shed me a light. Cheers.

• DrayTek 2820 configuration using public IP addresses

  I have a /29 range of public IP addresses assigned to me by my ISP. I'm trying to configure a SIP VOIP handset to register with my VOIP provider who recommend using public IP addresses rather than NAT. I have a DrayTek 2820 router flashed with the latest firmware and have configured my router as per DrayTek's FAQ at: How do I use a public subnet on the LAN (non-NAT operation ) ? My IP range is: xx.xx.94.16 -> xx.xx.94.23 This gives a usable range of: xx.xx.94.17 -> xx.xx.94.22 My router's public IP address is: xx.xx.94.17, the SIP VOIP handset is allocated xx.xx.94.18. I have a second internet connection and via that I can ping the handset. However for some reason I can't seem to get it to register with the provider. I tried adding a new Firewall filter to pass through from WAN to LAN: Source: ANY, Destination: xx.xx.94.18, UDP - Ports 1024 -> 65535 Out of interest I also tried opening port 80 to see if I could browse to the phone's admin web interface but no joy. I know that my ISP aren't blocking inbound service ports because I NAT Port Forwarded port 80 to one of my internal web servers and it rendered a test page I had set up. All the NAT settings are reset to factory defaults, i.e. there are no Port Redirection, DMZ Host, Open Ports or Address Mappings configured. The handset I'm using is a GrandStream GXP-2000. Is there anything else I should be doing?

• Move database from SQL Server 2012 to 2008

  I have a database on a SQL Sever 2012 instance which I would like to copy to a 2008 server. The 2008 server cannot restore backups created by a 2012 server (I have tried). I cannot find any options in 2012 to create a 2008 compatible backup. Am I missing something? Is there an easy way to export the schema and data to a version-agnostic format which I can then import into 2008? The database does not use any 2012 specific features. It contains tables, data and stored procedures. Here is what I have tried so far: I tried "tasks" - "generate scripts" on the 2012 server, and I was able to generate the schema (including stored procedures) as a sql script. This didn't include any of the data, though. After creating that schema on my 2008 machine, I was able to open the "Export Data" wizard on the 2012 machine, and after configuring the 2012 as source machine and the 2008 as target machine, I was presented with a list of tables which I could copy. I selected all my tables (300+), and clicked through the wizard. Unfortunately it spends ages generating its scripts, then fails with errors like "Failure inserting into the read-only column 'FOO_ID'". I also tried the "Copy Database Wizard", which claimed to be able to copy "from 2000 or later to 2005 or later". It has two modes: 1) "detach and attach", which failed with error: Message: Index was outside the bounds of the array. StackTrace: at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.PropertyBag.SetValue(Int32 index, Object value) ... at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.DataFile.get_FileName() 2) SQL Management Object Method which failed with error "Cannot read property IsFileStream.This property is not available on SQL Server 7.0."

• Add Network Printer drivers in Windows 7/Server 2008 R2?

  I'm running a 64 bit Windows 7 / Windows 2008 R2 workstation that I just installed. I need to add a printer that is shared on the network from a 32bit Windows 2000 print server. This is an HP LaserJet 5Si printer, the drivers for which HP tells me are automatically built into Windows 7/R2. However, whenever I connect to the printer or try to add it, I get the following screen: Upon clicking OK, I get this screen asking me to locate the driver: How can I possibly locate a driver that is SUPPOSED TO BE NATIVELY SUPPORTED on Windows 7/R2? The tough part is that this printer is one of many shared on a server and does not have a direct IP address. Even worse: I have no access to the print server so I cannot put the 64 bit drivers on there. Any ideas? UPDATE: HP doesn't make a Vista driver either. It claims it is natively supported by Vista and 7, which is true because I am able to create a local printer on a fake tcp/ip port and Windows lets me pick the proper driver. However, when adding from the network, Windows does not let me select a driver and demands an INF. I tried searching the entire sub-structure of the C:\Windows directory and could not find any INF files that contain HP information. The INF might be located somewhere in the Windows installation DVD, but all the files on the DVD are compressed and unrecognizable. UPDATE #2 I installed the proper printer driver as a local printer (with no printer attached) and it installed. However, this did not change the fact that it STILL asks me to provide drivers when connecting to the networked printer.

• Unexpected behaviour when dynamically add node in HAproxy server

  I wanted to use HAProxy for my web app for load balancing purpose. I am trying to add a new rabbitmq node dynamically in HAProxy server using command : haproxy -p /var/run/haproxy.pid -sf $(cat /var/run/haproxy.pid). I am doing tcp connection mode with leastconn balance algorithm in load balancing. What is expected is when there is 3 connection in one rabbitmq, I add a new rabbit server in HAProxy server. so the next connection would pass to 2nd rabbitmq server which is not happening in my case. It distributes the connection in haphazardly manner. • Catastrophic Failure opening ODBC via Citrix

  We recently had our Citrix server crash unexpectedly. When it came back up, there was a new issue -- every ODBC connection fails with "Catastrophic Failure" (0x8000FFFF). The issue is limited to Citrix / ICA connections; logging in as the same user via RDP works as usual. ODBC error happens whether a DSN is used or not, on at least Access, MS-SQL, and CSV. Connections both through the SSL Gateway and directly. There have been a few users actually able to log in without trouble, but I can't pin down anything special about them.

• Preseeding Ubuntu partman recipe using LVM and RAID

  I'm trying to preseed Ubuntu 12.04 server installation and created a recipe that would create RAID 1 on 2 drives and then partition that using LVM. Unfortunately partman complains when creating LVM volumes saying there no partitions in recipe that could be used with LVM (in console it complains about unusable recipe). The layout I'm after is RAID 1 on sdb and sdc (installing from USB stick so it takes sda) and then use LVM to create boot, root and swap. The odd thing is that if I change the mount point of boot_lv to home the recipe works fine (apart from mounting in wrong place), but when mounting at /boot it fails I know I could use separate /boot primary partition, but can anybody tell me why it fails. • ISA Server 2006 SSL Certificate Dilemma

  I'm making so great headway in offering our services over https with help from a Go Daddy certificate, later to be upgraded to Thawte SSL123 certs. But, I've just run into one whopper of a problem. Here's my setup: I run an ISA 2006 firewall. Our web services are distributed over 2 servers. One is Windows 2000 (www.domain.com) and the other is Windows 2003 (services.domain.com). So, I'll need to purchase 2 certs for both www and services, import them into IIS6 on their respective machines, then export them with the primary key (making sure to Include all certificates in the certification path if possible... that had me stumped for a while), and then to finally import them into ISA's local computer Personal store. The problem I've just run into is that I have separate firewall rules for services.domain.com and www.domain.com... because requests need to be forwarded to different web servers. Each of these firewall rules use the same httplistener. I have just found out that you can only use 1 certificate per httplistener. To make matters worse you can only have a single httplistener per ip / port. Is this correct? I can only use a single certificate for a single ip address? This would seem to be a severe limitation. Am I wrong? If I'm not then I've got a whole lot more work ahead of me as I'll have to set up extra ip's, add them to the firewall's network interface, create new listeners using that ip, etc... Can someone please confirm that I'm doing this correctly / incorrectly? Once I got my head wrapped around it all it seemed easy... then this. Thanks in advance.
