    Given an area of specific size I need to find out how many pavement stones to use to completely pave the area. Suppose that I have an empty floor of 100 metre squares and stones with 20x10 cm and 30x10 cm sizes. I must pave the area with minimum usage of stones of both sizes. Anyone knows of an algorithm that calculates this? (Sorry if my English is bad) C# is preferred.

    I have a script that I want to exit early under some condition: if not "id" in dir(): print "id not set, cannot continue" # exit here! # otherwise continue with the rest of the script... print "alright..." [ more code ] I run this script using execfile("foo.py") from the Python interactive prompt and I would like the script to exit going back to the command line. How do I do this? If I use sys.exit(), the Python interpreter exits completely.

  • Calling method after view has loaded

    My iPhone app allows for users to type in their usernames and passwords so that they can login. When they login once, their usernames and passwords are saved so that users don't have to type it in again. My problem is, when the app starts again, it immediately starts logging them in, leaving the interface completely black. How would I go about calling my login method AFTER all the UI methods are loaded?

    The last time I produced a catalog I used a software called EasyCatalog that worked with Adobe InDesign to merge data from a spreadsheet with graphics. I wouldn’t say it was completely successful. I know of one other catalog building software called Catalog Builder by Computer Pundits. I'm just looking for any suggestions from someone who might have gone through this process on what software I should use.

  • Downsides to using FakeWeb compared to writing mocks for testing

    I never liked writing mocks and a while ago someone here recommended to use FakeWeb. I immediately fell completely in love with FakeWeb. However, I have to wonder if there is a downside to using FakeWeb. It seems like mocks are still much more common, so I wonder what I am missing that's wrong with using FakeWeb instead. Is there a certain kind of error you can't cover with Fakeweb or is it something about the TDD or BDD process?

    I have a ul/li based side menu, styled with two CSS rules, the following of them is ignored by IE8 Quirks mode, and I assume IE6: ul { padding-left: 15px; } I can reproduce the problem in FF by removing this rule completely. I have also tried using jQuery to apply the rule, with no change in IE8: $("ul.menu-class").find("ul").css("padding-left", 15); Is this a box model issue, and, how can I reduce the UL 'padding' in IE Quirks Mode?

I'm getting that written specifications drive the tests in BDD, but also that business logic can be encapsulated using the specification pattern for re-use in domain objects and repositories, etc. Are these basically the same concept just used in different ways, used in conjunction together, or am I completely confusing the concepts? That said, I believe I understand the fundamental difference between data, information, and knowledge. My understanding is that information carries both data and meaning.   • UIDisplayLink stops updating when UIScrollView scrolled

    Title is quite self explanatory, but I have some animation being done in a loop triggered by UIDisplayLink. However, as soon as I scroll a UIScrollView I have added to my view hierarchy, the animation stops immediately, only to return again when scrolling has completely stopped and come to a standstill.... Anyway to cancel this behaviour?
