  • Way to Remove Invite Limit on FBML Multi-Friend Selector

    Hi there, I tried to look through various resources before posting here, but was having a surprisingly difficult time finding an answer to my question. Sorry in advance if I overlooked it. I'm currently trying to add the FBML Multi-Friend Selector to my Facebook page. It has a limit on the number of friends you can invite at a time ("Add up to 20 of your friends by clicking on their pictures below"). From what I've looked through it sounds like 20 is the max number of friends a user can invite, but then looking at Mint's page, they have a 22 max invite (http://www.facebook.com/mint?ref=ts) I thought it might be based on number of page fans, as Mint has 56,000, but that doesn't seem to be the case as this page only has 256 fans and have a max of 26 friend invites (http://www.facebook.com/tivix?v=app_106437999388442). Therefore, I don't really understand how this system works. Is there a way for me to increase to 26? Unlimited? Thanks for your help!

  • XFBML fb:login_button only loading 20% of the time

    I have a fb:login-button that is working but the button only displays about 20% of the time I load the page. Have a look here to see what I mean, bearing in mind I have never had to refresh the page more than 20 times before I finally turns up.     in my facebook FBML app, I have the flash connecting to the js (in FBJS) . I have set up the stuffs like that and working. However, sometimes, the bridge connection fails and I see thatin the URL, facebook attach the fb_noscript=1 parameter there. e.g. apps.facebook.com/myapp/?fb_noscript=1 when I remove it, and reload the apps, it is all good. I just don't know what I get the fb_noscript thing. and how to get rid of it.

    Hi all, I am building a small facebook application. I am using asp.net and currently working with the fb:req-choice control (tied along with fb:request-form and fb:multi-friend-selector). Problem is, that when I specify the redirect url for when the user clicks my invitation, instead of getting what I specified: http://apps.facebook.com/myApp/forum.aspx?tId=1&ref=app&code=2.74rRNejG7tpAOqgDCNf8qA__.3600.1275202400-106570384737670%7CPi8JpoHDW3xGuq2lxdZl1d4CLUU.     I've integrated facebook login with my application and I want to logout the user from facebook when he logs out of my application. So I did the following: <a href="<c:url value='/security_logout'/>" onclick="FB.logout();">Logout</a> This works on Firefox and Chrome but doesn't work on IE8. In IE8 the user is logged out of the application but is not logged out of Facebook. Anyone else experiencing this?

    I m a graphic designer and have created a website in Joomla that uses a "lightbox" (ignite gallery) plugin to view images from the site. I have created a facebook 'website' app that allows for comments to be posted via facebook in the lightbox (also a like button) - all of which are really just options that you allow in the ignite gallery options. Everything seems to work fine, I can comment and it will appear under the photo in the lightbox, as I asked it too, it also sends a copy of the comment to the commenter's facebook page with links. How do I also get the comments from the website (lightbox plugin) to also appear on the clients "fan page" that already exists?? Much appreciate any help..

    I'm adding a facebook comment widget to a website. I'm placing this widget in a file that is included on everypage. The navigation is relatively linked so it switches back and forth from http and https. But for some reason the comment widget only shows up if both the src linked file and webpage is secure or both the src linked file and webpage is NOT secure. The widget does not display of the src file is secure and the webpage is not secure. So...   • Getting Different IP each time

    Hello, I am creating a poll script for a facebook fan page: http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=115400635147687&v=app_115400635147687 I am getting the IP using: $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] But the problem is that each time I refresh the page, or make an ajax call, the IP is changed everytime. Someone told me that facebook has many IPs, proxies. Basically I need to save the IP in database, so that once a user from certain IP has voted, he should not be able to do so again. What is the solution or alternative to this?

  • Omniauth + Pow Issue

    I am having a strange issue with Pow and Omniauth. Omniauth (Facebook Login) works fine when using localhost:3000, but when using Pow (appname.dev) things get fishy. Users are taken through the redirect and properly created if they don't exist in the database, as they should be. After this, however, they are redirected to the root_path and not signed in. Their record is saved in the database as expected, but sign in does not occur. Again, this is only happening on Pow (and lvh.me), and not on localhost. Any ideas? I am using the Devise/Omniauth approach for sign-in, and the controller code looks like this: def facebook @user = User.find_for_facebook_oauth(request.env["omniauth.auth"], current_user) if @user.persisted? flash[:notice] = I18n.t "devise.omniauth_callbacks.success", :kind => "Facebook" sign_in_and_redirect @user, :event => :authentication else session["devise.facebook_data"] = request.env["omniauth.auth"] redirect_to new_user_registration_url end end Again, the user is persisted but there is no flash notice or sign_in that occurs when using POW.

    It's a bit late, but I'm disappointed in myself for not coming up with something more elegant. Anyone have a better way to do this... When you pass an OAuth code to Facebook, it response with a query string containing access_token and expires values. access_token=121843224510409|2.V_ei_d_rbJt5iS9Jfjk8_A__.3600.1273741200-569255561|TxQrqFKhiXm40VXVE1OBUtZc3Ks.&expires=4554 Although if you request permission for offline access, there's no expires and the string looks like this: access_token=121843224510409|2.V_ei_d_rbJt5iS9Jfjk8_A__.3600.1273741200-569255561|TxQrqFKhiXm40VXVE1OBUtZc3Ks. I attempted to write a regex that would suffice for either condition. No dice. So I ended up with some really ugly Ruby: s = s.split("=") @oauth = {} if s.length == 3 @oauth[:access_token] = s[1][0, s[1].length - 8] @oauth[:expires] = s[2] else @oauth[:access_token] = s[1] end I know there must be a better way!

  • Looking for a good database structure to achieve Facebook/SO like notifications

    I want to be able to have notifications on my site, similar to the way SO does it. I have looked for a good table structure to do this, but I cant seem to figure it out. I was thinking something like this. Notifications id, notification_type_id, user_id, type_id Notification Types id, notification_text Where the notification type would relate to either a new post, a new comment, or whatever features I add later down the line... User Id would relate to whoever the notification is for. Type_id and notification type would go hand in hand, so if the notification_type was a new comment, the type_id would be the comment_id to go to. This seems good to me, but i want to be able to notify ALL users when something changes.. like on facebook when you comment on something, you get a notification that someone else has also commented on the same thing after you. I cant seem to figure this out... Help wanted Thanks

Currently I'm just playing with keypress and check if the keycode = 64. Somehow that works, but it doesn't validate if there's a space before the alfa, or if the user has unfocused the box, then focused it again. Any ideas?     Hello, I'm trying to implement a facebook search in my system (auto suggest while typing). I've managed to code all the ajax stuff, but I'm not sure how to query the database. I've created a table called People which contains the fields: ID, FirstName, LastName, MiddleName, Email. I've also created a FTS-index on all those fields. I want to create a stored procedure that will get as a parameter the text inserted in the query box and returns the suggestions. For example, When I will write in the textbox the query "Joh Do" It will translate to the query: select * from People where contains(*, '"Joh*"') and contains(*, '"Do*"') Is there a way to do that in stored procedure? P.S I've tried to use the syntax select * from People where contains(*,'"Joh*" and "Do*"') but it didn't returned the expected results, probably because it needs to search the words on different fields. Is there a way to fix that? Thanks.
